1Inulin Can Alleviate Metabolism Disorders in ob/ob Mice by Partially Restoring Leptinrelated Pathways Mediated by Gut Microbiota显示文摘Inulin has been used as a prebiotic to alleviate glucose and lipid metabolism disorders in mice and humans by modulating the gut microbiota. However, the mechanism underlying the alleviation of metabolic disorders by inulin through interactions between the gut microbiota and host cells is unclear. We use ob/ob mice as a model to study the effect of inulin on the cecal microbiota by16 S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and its interaction with host cells by transcriptomics. The inulin-supplemented diet improved glucose and lipid metabolism disorder parameters in ob/ob mice,alleviating fat accumulation and glucose intolerance. The a diversity of gut microbial community of ob/ob mice was reduced after inulin treatment, while the b diversity tended to return to the level of wild type mice. Interestingly, Prevotellaceae UCG 001(family Prevotellaceae) was obviously enriched after inulin treatment. A comparative analysis of the gene expression profile showed that the cecal transcriptome was changed in leptin gene deficiency mice, whereas the inulin-supplemented diet partially reversed the changes in leptin gene-related signaling pathways, especially AMPK signaling pathway, where the levels of gene expression became comparable to those in wild type mice.Further analysis indicated that Prevotellaceae UCG 001 was positively correlated with the AMPK signaling pathway, which was negatively correlated with markers of glycolipid metabolism disorders. 2Grain nucleation and growth behavior of a Sn-Pb alloy affected by direct current: An in situ investigation显示文摘In situ synchrotron X-ray radiography was used to study the effect of direct current(DC) on the grain nucleation and growth of Sn-50 wt.%Pb alloy. The results showed that applying DC adequately during solidification could effectively enhance the grain nucleation and inhibit its growth. Imaging of comparative experiments with varying DC intensity indicated that the final grain size, determined by the competition between grain nucleation and growth, was sensitively dependent on the DC intensity. It was found that the average grain size was decreased from 1632 to 567 μm with DC density of 1.5 A/mm^2 compared to the case without DC. 3Development and assessment of quantitative structure-activity relationship models for bioconcentration factors of organic pollutants显示文摘Bioconcentration factors (BCFs) are of great importance for ecological risk assessment of organic chemicals. In this study, a quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model for fish BCFs of 8 groups of compounds was developed employing partial least squares (PLS) regression, based on linear solvation energy relationship (LSER) theory and theoretical molecular structural descriptors. The guidelines for development and validation of QSAR models proposed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) were followed. The model results show that the main factors governing logBCF are Connolly molecular area (CMA), average molecular polarizability (α) and molecular weight (MW). Thus molecular size plays a critical role in affecting the bioconcentration of organic pollutants in fish. For the established model, the multiple correlation coefficient square (RY2) = 0.868, the root mean square error (RMSE) = 0.553 log units, and the leave-many-out cross-validated Q2CUM = 0.860, indicating its good goodness-of-fit and robustness. The model predictivity was evaluated by external validation, with the external explained variance (QE2XT) = 0.755 and RMSE = 0.647 log units. Moreover, the applicability domain of the developed model was assessed and visualized by the Williams plot. 4Group sparse representation for image categorization and semantic video retrieval显示文摘Multimedia content analysis and management are a promising and challenging theme.In this paper we develop a novel approach to image representation,which we call group sparse representation (GSR),for image classification and video retrieval.The basic idea is to represent a test image as a weighted combination of all the training images.In particular,we introduce two sets of weight coefficients,one for each training image and the other for each class.Moreover,we formulate our concern as a group nonnegative garrote model.The resulting representations are sparse,and they are appropriate for discriminant analysis.Experiments on Caltech101 and PASCAL VOC2008 image dataset and TRECVID2005 video corpus testify that our proposed approach is efficient and effective.LIU YaNan WU Fei ZHUANG YueTing 2011Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,10:3

6Low-dose intravenous tissue plasminogen activator for acute ischaemic stroke: an alternative or a new standard?显示文摘Background:With the recent publication of a large clinical trial on the use of a lower dose of intravenous(IV)tissue plasminogen activator(tPA)for acute ischaemic stroke(AIS),the concept of using a different dose has been debated.We intend to review the literature on using a lower dose of IV tPA and gain a better understanding of the impact of different IV doses on the treatment of patients with AIS.Methods:A comprehensive literature search of the related topics in PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science and MEDLINE was carried out.Key words used include low dose IV tPA,thrombolysis,Alteplace and tPA for AIS.Findings were tabulated according to the size of the cohort studied,outcome,adverse event and level of evidence.The results of all studies using lower doses were analysed for efficacy and adverse events.Results:From 1992 to 2016,there were 23 trials that included 10950 patients published on the use of lower doses of IV tPA for AIS.Doses ranged from 0.5,0.6,0.75 to 0.85 mg/kg.Most were observational,retrospective and registry studies.One was a prospective open-label randomised controlled trial.13 trials combined lower doses of IV tPA with a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor or thrombectomy.Patients treated with lower doses of IV tPA showed a trend of lower rate of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage and mortality at 3 months but slightly more disability.Conclusions:Lower doses of IV tPA showed less haemorrhagic events but were not more effective compared with the standard dose.The optimal low dose of IV tPA remains unclear.Patients with AIS with a high risk of developing sypmtomatic intracranial haemorrhage might benefit from lower dose IV tPA,such as 0.6 mg/kg.Yi Dong Wenjie Cao Xin Cheng Kun Fang Fei Wu Lumeng Yang Yanan Xie Qiang Dong 2016Stroke & Vascular Neurology2016,1,3:2
7Three dimensional microstructures and wear resistance of Al-Bi immiscible alloys with different grain refiners显示文摘The three dimensional(3D) microstructures of Al-Bi alloys with different grain refiners(Al-5Ti-B, Al-3B and Al-3Ti) have been studied using synchrotron X-ray microtomography. The relationships between the microstructures and the corresponding wear behavior are verified through the friction and wear tests. The worn surfaces of the samples with grain refiners tested under 15 and 60 N loads are analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM). The results indicate that the addition of grain refiners is beneficial to the size and distribution of the Bi-rich particles in Al-Bi alloys. Compared with Al-5Ti-B and Al-3B grain refiners, the Bi-rich particles are more uniformly distributed and spherical with finer size with the addition of Al-3Ti grain refiner. 9An Experimental Study on the Effects of a Film Cooling Configuration and Mainstream Temperature on Depositing显示文摘The effects of a film cooling configuration and mainstream temperature on the depositing of particles are experimentally studied by using plate models. The particles are generated by melting wax and atomizing it. One model has a film cooling configuration and the other does not. The experimental results show that the film cooling configuration does not influence the depositing on the leading edge of the model very significantly. However, the film cooling configuration could increase the depositing on the upper surface of the model dramatically since the flow structure on the upper surface is changed due to the film cooling configuration. The effect of the mainstream temperature on the depositing is studied by using the model with film cooling configuration. The lower and higher mainstream temperature both could reduce the depositing. However, the mechanisms are different. The lower mainstream temperature could make more molten particles become solid particles, which could rebound from the surface of the model, reducing the depositing. The higher mainstream temperature could make all particles remain molten with higher temperature. In this case, more particles could splash from the surface of the model. 12Study on Toughening Phenolic Foams in Phosphorus-Containing Tung Oil-Based Derivatives显示文摘Phenolic foams(PFs)as thermal insulation material with outstanding flame retardancy are required to match society’s ever-expanding safety expectations;however,a trade-off exists between flame retardancy and toughness.Here,for the first time,we synthesized a novel reactive phosphorus-containing tung-oil-based derivative and used it to toughen PF,resulting in PFs with a combination of excellent mechanical properties and flame retardancy.Compared with pure PF,the modified PFs exhibit enhanced mechanical properties,with specific compressive and flexural strengths as high as 5.67 MPa and 12.46 MPa,which represent increases of 90.67%and 178.7%over those of pure PF,respectively.Meanwhile,the limiting oxygen index(LOI)values of the modified PFs are improved as much as 40.83%.Scanning electron microscopy micrographs show that the microstructure of the modified PFs is better than that of pure PF,with a more uniform cell morphology,a narrower pore size distribution range,and a smaller average pore size,all of which are beneficial to the foam’s mechanical properties.This study provides a scientific paradigm for the development of advanced PFs based on renewable biological resources.Fei Song Puyou Jia Yanan Xiao Caiying Bo Lihong Hu Yonghong Zhou 2019Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,10:1

14Genomic insights into the origin, adaptive evolution, and herbicide resistance of Leptochloa chinensis, a devastating tetraploid weedy grass in rice fields显示文摘Chinese sprangletop (Leptochloa chinensis), belonging to the grass subfamily Chloridoideae, is one of the most notorious weeds in rice ecosystems. Here, we report a chromosome-scale reference genome assembly and a genomic variation map of the tetraploid L. chinensis. The L. chinensis genome is derived from two diploid progenitors that diverged ∼10.9 million years ago, and its two subgenomes display neither fractionation bias nor overall gene expression dominance. Comparative genomic analyses reveal substantial genome rearrangements in L. chinensis after its divergence from the common ancestor of Chloridoideae and, together with transcriptome profiling, demonstrate the important contribution of tetraploidization to the gene sources for the herbicide resistance of L. chinensis. Population genomic analyses of 89 accessions from China reveal that L. chinensis accessions collected from southern/southwestern provinces have substantially higher nucleotide diversity than those from the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, suggesting that L. chinensis spread in China from the southern/southwestern provinces to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. During this spread, L. chinensis developed significantly increased herbicide resistance, accompanied by the selection of numerous genes involved in herbicide resistance. 16Predicting effect factors of dual bag filter system for PCDD/Fs removal from hazardous waste incineration flue gas显示文摘The dual bag filter(DBF)system is a new polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs)emission control technology that has more efficient(PCDD/Fs)removal performance,a higher activated carbon utilization rate and less activated carbon consumption compared with the traditional single bag filter system.Moreover,few studies have been relevant to the mechanism of the PCDD/Fs removal process in the DBF system,and the selection of operating conditions of the DBF system lacks an academic basis.This study established a PCDD/Fs removal efficiency model of activated carbon injection combined bag filter(ACI+DBF)system for hazardous waste incineration flue gas and predicted the crucial effect factors.New adsorption coefficients k_(1)=532,145 Nm^(3)/(mol s)and k_(2)=45 Nm^(3)/(mol s),and the relationship expression between the number of available adsorption positions of recycled AC(AAC′)and cycle times(n)are proposed in the model.The results verify that the model error was below 5%.In addition,the PCDD/Fs removal efficiency model predicts that in a certain range,the PCDD/Fs removal efficiency increases with increasing activated carbon injection concentration.The best cycle number of activated carbon was less than 3,and the ratio of circulating activated carbon to fresh activated carbon in second bag filter(SBF)should be controlled at 7–8.Yanan Li Qi Liu Minghui Tang Fei Wang Shengyong Lu Makwarimba Chengetai Portia Yong Chi 2023Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2023,5,2:0

18Eukaryotic food sources analysis in situ of tropical common sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota based on 18S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing显示文摘Sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota is one of the most widespread tropical holothurian species.In this study,eukaryotic organism composition in foregut and hindgut contents of H.leucospilota and surrounding sediments was assessed by 18S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing.Eukaryon richness and diversity in the habitat sediments were significantly higher than those in foregut and hindgut contents of the sea cucumbers(P<0.05).The foregut content group,hindgut content group,and marine sediment group sequences were respectively assigned to 18.20±1.32,19.40±1.03,and 21.80±0.37 phyla.In the foregut contents,Nematoda(20.18%±9.59%),Mollusca(16.12%±10.49%),Chlorophyta(10.04%±4.85%),Annelida(8.72%±10.93%),Streptophyta(8.46%±4.65%),and Diatomea(5.99%±2.01%)were the predominant phyla,which showed the eukaryotic food sources of H.leucospilota were primarily belong to the above phyla.The predominant phyla in the hindgut contents were Streptophyta(45.55%±17.32%),Mollusca(4.93%±4.82%),Arthropoda(5.37%±3.08%),Diatomea(3.88%±2.34%),and Chlorophyta(3.79%±1.59%);and Annelida(37.80%±17.00%),Arthropoda(24.49%±12.53%),Platyhelminthes(7.14%±3.02%),Nematoda(4.14%±0.91%),and Diatomea(5.11%±1.35%)had large contents in the sediments.The comparatively high content of Paris genus in phylum Streptophyta in foregut contents indicated that land plants were one of the primary food sources of H.leucospilota,however the significantly higher contents of Streptophyta in hindgut contents than that in foregut contents might suggest a large part of the terrigenous detritus ingested might not be digested by H.leucospilota.UPGMA and PCoA analysis revealed that eukaryotic organism composition differed significantly between foregut contents of H.leucospilota and ambient sediments,indicating selective feeding feature of H.leucospilota.This study provided useful references for artificial feed of tropical sea cucumbers and enhanced understanding of the ecological roles of detritus-feeding macrobenthos.Yue ZHANG Fei GAO Qiang XU Yanan WANG Haiqing WANG Aimin WANG 2023Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,3:0

20Effect of sterilization methods on the flavor of cold brew coffee显示文摘This research used ultra-fast E-nose,E-tongue and SCA analysis to explore the effects of different sterilization methods(pasteurization,back pressure sterilization,high temperature short-term sterilization,membrane filtration treatment and high pressure processing)on cold brew coffee.The results showed that non-heat sterilization can better maintain the sensory quality of coffee liquid.Back pressure sterilization could reduce the pH value of coffee liquid to 4.65,and decrease the aroma content significantly by 50.5%(p<0.05),while the sourness and bitterness of coffee samples increased,which lowered the sensory quality of coffee.Among the heat sterilization treatments,high temperature short-term sterilization had relatively little effect on the sensory quality of the coffee beverage,and decreased the bitterness of the coffee.Taking sensory quality,nutrients and cost into consideration,it is suggested that high temperature short time sterilization is a prefered method.Thus,the results of this research provided a theoretical basis for the selection of sterilization method for cold brew coffee.Xinrong Liu Weiqing Wang Yanan Fei Yun Zhou Lijuan Jin Zhiqiang Xing 2022Beverage Plant Research2022,2,1:0
