| 2 | Arabidopsis VQ10 interacts with WRKY8 to modulate basal defense against Botrytis cinerea显示文摘Recent studies in Arabidopsis have revealed that some VQ motif-containing proteins physically interact with WRKY transcription factors;however,their specific biological functions are still poorly understood.In this study,we confirmed the interaction between VQ10and WRKY8,and show that VQ10 and WRKY8 formed a complex in the plant cell nucleus.Yeast two-hybrid analysis showed that the middle region of WRKY8 and the VQ motif of VQ10 are critical for their interaction,and that this interaction promotes the DNA-binding activity of WRKY8.Further investigation revealed that the VQ10protein was exclusively localized in the nucleus,and VQ10was predominantly expressed in siliques.VQ10 expression was strongly responsive to the necrotrophic fungal pathogen,Botrytis cinerea and defense-related hormones.Phenotypic analysis showed that disruption of VQ10 increased mutant plants susceptibility to the fungal pathogen B.cinerea,whereas constitutive-expression of VQ10 enhanced resistance to B.cinerea.Consistent with these findings,expression of the defenserelated PLANT DEFENSIN1.2(PDF1.2)gene was decreased in vq10 mutant plants,after B.cinerea infection,but increased in VQ10-overexpressing transgenic plants.Taken together,our findings provide evidence that VQ10 physically interacts with WRKY8 and positively regulates plant basal resistance against the necrotrophic fungal pathogen B.cinerea. | Junqiu Chen Houping Wang Yang Li Jinjing Pan Yanru Hu Diqiu Yu | 2018 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2018,60,10: | 8 |
| 3 | Characterization of 500 Chinese patients with cervical esophageal cancer by clinicopathological and treatment outcomes显示文摘Objective: There are no comprehensive studies on survival outcomes and optimal treatment protocols for cervical esophageal cancer(CEC), due to its rare clinical prevalence. Our objective was to determine the relationship between pathological characteristics, treatment protocols, and survival outcomes in Chinese CEC patients.Methods: A total of 500 Chinese CEC patients were selected from our 500,000 esophageal and gastric cardia carcinoma database(1973–2018). There were two main groups: patients treated with surgery, and patients receiving non-surgical treatments(radiotherapy, radiochemotherapy, and chemotherapy). The Chi-square test and Kaplan–Meier method were used to compare the continuous variables and survival.Results: Among the 500 CEC patients, 278(55.6%) were male, and the median age was 60.9 ± 9.4 years. A total of 496 patients(99.2%) were diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. In 171(34.2%) patients who received surgery, 22(12.9%) had undergone laryngectomy. In 322(64.4%) patients who received non-surgical treatments, 245(76.1%) received radiotherapy. Stratified survival analysis showed that only T stage was related with survival outcomes for CEC patients in the surgical group, and the outcomes between laryngectomy and non-laryngectomy patients were similar. It was noteworthy that the 5-year survival rate was similar in CEC patients among the different groups treated with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or radiochemotherapy(P = 0.244). Conclusions: The CEC patients had similar survival outcomes after curative esophagectomy and radiotherapy, including those with or without total laryngectomy. | 4 | The landscape of gene-CDS-haplotype diversity in rice:Properties,population organization,footprints of domestication and breeding,and implications for genetic improvement显示文摘Polymorphisms within gene coding regions represent the most important part of the overall genetic diversity of rice.We characterized the gene-coding sequence-haplotype(gcHap)diversity of 45963 rice genes in 3010 rice accessions.With an average of 226±390 gcHaps per gene in rice populations,rice genes could be classified into three main categories:12865 conserved genes,10254 subspecific differentiating genes,and 22844 remaining genes.We found that 39218 rice genes carry>255179 major gcHaps of potential functional importance.Most(87.5%)of the detected gcHaps were specific to subspecies or populations.The inferred proto-ancestors of local landrace populations reconstructed from conserved predominant(ancient)gcHaps correlated strongly with wild rice accessions from the same geographic regions,supporting a multiorigin(domestication)model of Oryza sativa.Past breeding efforts generally increased the gcHap diversity of modern varieties and'caused significant frequency shifts in predominant gcHaps of 14266 genes due to independent selection in the two subspecies.Low frequencies of“favorable”gcHaps at most known genes related to rice yield in modern varieties suggest huge potential for rice improvement by mining and pyramiding of favorable gcHaps.The gcHap data were demonstrated to have greater power than SNPs for the detection of causal genes that affect complex traits.The rice gcHap diversity dataset generated in this study would facilitate rice basic research and improvement in the future. | Fan Zhang Chunchao Wang Min Li Yanru Cui Yingyao Shi Zhichao Wu Zhiqiang Hu Wensheng Wang Jianlong Xu Zhikang Li | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,5: | 5 |
| 5 | NDUFAB1 confers cardio-protection by enhancing mitochondrial bioenergetics through coordination of respiratory complex and supercomplex assembly显示文摘The impairment of mitochondrial bioenergetics,often coupled with exaggerated reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, is a fundamental disease mechanism in organs with a high demand for energy, including the heart. Building a more robust and safer cellular powerhouse holds the promise for protecting these organs in stressful conditions. Here, we demonstrate that NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit AB1 (NDUFAB1), also known as mitochondrial acyl carrier protein, acts as a powerful cardio-protector by conferring greater capacity and efficiency of mitochondrial energy metabolism. In particular, NDUFAB1 not only serves as a complex I subunit, but also coordinates the assembly of respiratory complexes I, II, and III, and supercomplexes, through regulating iron-sulfur biosynthesis and complex I subunit stability. Cardiac-specific deletion of Ndufab1 in mice caused defective bioenergetics and elevated ROS levels, leading to progressive dilated cardiomyopathy and eventual heart failure and sudden death. Overexpression of Ndufab1 effectively enhanced mitochondrial bioenergetics while limiting ROS production and protected the heart against ischemia-reperfusion injury. | 16 | Accurate Solar Wind Speed Prediction with Multimodality Information显示文摘When the solar wind passes over the Earth,it will cause geomagnetic storms,affect short-wave communications,and threaten the safety of pipelines such as electricity and oil.Accurate prediction of the solar wind speed will allow people to make adequate preparations to avoid wasting resources and affecting people’s life.Most existing methods only use single-modality data as input and do not consider the information complementarity between different modalities.This paper proposes a multimodality prediction(MMP)method that jointly learns vision and sequence information in a unified end-to-end framework for solar wind speed prediction.MMP includes three modules:Vmodule,Tmodule,and Fusion module.Vmodule,which uses pretrained GoogLeNet,is proposed to learn visual representations from the extreme ultraviolet(EUV)images.Tmodule combining one-dimensional CNN with bidirectional long short-term memory(BiLSTM)is applied for learning sequence representation from multivariate time series.Finally,a multimodality fusion method is applied to improve the overall performance.We adopt the EUV images observed by the solar dynamics observatory(SDO)satellite and the OMNIWEB dataset measured at Lagrangian point 1(L1)to experiment.Comparative experiments have shown that the proposed MMP achieves best performance in many metrics.The ablation experiments also verify the validity of each module and the rationality of the hyperparameter setting. | Yanru Sun Zongxia Xie Yanhong Chen Qinghua Hu | 2022 | Space(Science & Technology)2022,,1: | 0 |
| 17 | Mussel-inspired Methacrylic Gelatin-dopamine/Ag Nanoparticles/Graphene Oxide Hydrogels with Improved Adhesive and Antibacterial Properties for Applications as Wound Dressings显示文摘A novel strategy was developed to prepare the methacrylic gelatin-dopamine(GelMA-DA)/Ag nanoparticles(NPs)/graphene oxide(GO) composite hydrogels with good biocompatibility,mechanical properties,and antibacterial activity.Mussel-inspired DA was utilized to modify the GelMA molecules,which imparts good adhesive performance to the hydrogels.GO,interfacial enhancer,not only improves mechanical properties of the hydrogels,but also provides anchor sites for loading Ag NPs through numerous oxygencontaining functional groups on the surface.The experimental results show that the GelMA/Ag NPs/GO hydrogels have good biocompatibility,and exhibit a swelling rate of 202±16%,the lap shear strength of 147±17 kPa,and compressive modulus of 136±53 kPa,in the case of the Ag NPs/GO content of 2 mg/mL.Antibacterial activity of the hydrogels against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria is dependent on the Ag NPs/GO content derived from the release of Ag^(+).Furthermore,the GelMA/Ag NPs/GO hydrogels possess good adhesive ability,which is resistant to highly twisted state when stuck on the surface of pigskin.These results demonstrate promising potential of the GelMA-DA/Ag NPs/GO hydrogels as wound dressings for biomedical applications in clinical and emergent treatment. | 宿正楠 HU Yanru MENG Lihui OUYANG Zhiyuan LI Wenchao ZHU Fang XIE Bin 吴庆知 | 2024 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2024,39,2: | 0 |
