1Effects of Wen Dan Tang on insomnia-related anxiety and levels of the brain-gut peptide Ghrelin显示文摘Ghrelin, a brain-gut peptide that induces anxiety and other abnormal emotions, contributes to the effects of insomnia on emotional behavior. In contrast, the traditional Chinese Medicine remedy Wen Dan Tang reduces insomnia-related anxiety, which may perhaps correspond to changes in the brain-gut axis. This suggests a possible relationship between Wen Dan Tang's pharmacological mechanism and the brain-gut axis. Based on this hypothesis, a sleep-deprived rat model was induced and Wen Dan Tang was administered using oral gavage during model establishment. Wen Dan Tang significantly reduced insomnia-related anxiety and prevented Ghrelin level decreases following sleep deprivation, especially in the hypothalamus. 2Characterization of MR-1,a Novel Myofibrillogenesis Regulator in Human Muscle显示文摘The actin-myosin contractile apparatus consists of several thick filament and thin filament proteins. Specific regulatory mechanisms are involved in this highly ordered process. In this paper, we reported the identification and characterization of a novel myofibrillogenesis regulator, MR-1. The MR-1 gene was cloned from human skeletal muscle cDNA library by using a strategy that involves EST data base searching, PCR and RACE. The MR-1 gene is located on human chromosome 2q35 and encodes a 142 aa protein. Northern blot revealed that the mRNA level of MR-1 was highest in the skeletal muscle and certain level of MR-1 expression was also observed in heart, liver and kidney. Immunohistochemical assay confirmed that the MR-1 protein existed in human myocardial myofibrils. It was found by yeast two-hybrid screening and confirmed by in vitro binding assay that MR-1 could interact with sarcomeric proteins, such as myosin regulatory light chain, myomesin 1 and β-enolase. 3Effect of photo-biodegradation and biodegradation on the biogeochemical cycling of dissolved organic matter across diverse surface water bodies显示文摘The objective of this research was to quantify the temporal variation of dissolved organic matter(DOM) in five distinct waterbodies in watersheds with diverse types of land use and land cover in the presence and absence of sunlight. The water bodies were an agricultural pond, a lake in a forested watershed, a man-made reservoir, an estuary, and a bay. Two sets of samples were prepared by dispensing unfiltered samples into filtered samples in 1:10 ratio(V/V). The first set was exposed to sunlight(10 hr per day for 30 days) for examining the combined effect of photo-biodegradation, while the second set was stored in dark for examining biodegradation alone. Spectroscopic measurements in tandem with multivariate statistics were used to interpret DOM lability and composition. The results suggest that the agricultural pond behaved differently compared to other study locations during degradation experiments due to the presence of higher amount of microbial humic-like and protein-like components derived from microbial/anthropogenic sources. For all samples, a larger decrease in dissolved organic carbon(DOC) concentration(10.12% ±9.81% for photo-biodegradation and 6.65% ± 2.83% for biodegradation) and rapid transformation of DOM components(i.e., terrestrial humic-like components into microbial humic and protein-like components) were observed during photo-biodegradation experiments.Results suggest that sunlight facilitated DOM biodegradation, resulting in simpler recalcitrant molecules regardless of original composition. 4Rational Fabrication of Superhydrophobic Nanocone Surface for Dynamic Water Repellency and Anti-icing Potential显示文摘In this work,a simple and economic route was presented to fabricate an anti-icing superhydrophobic surface with nanocone structures,which were constructed only by one-step facile method of hydrothermal treatment with zinc acetate on the aluminum substrate.After modifying with fluoroalkylsilane (FAS-17),the nanocone structures with the appropriate size could induce the high superhydrophobicity with the water contact angle reaching 160.2° ± 0.4° and the sliding angle only being 1 ° ± 0.5°.Under the dynamic environments,the impact droplets could rapidly bounced off the surface with the shorter contact time of^1 0.6 ms,and it was mainly attributing to lower capillary adhesive force (water adhesion force of 4.1 μN) induced by the open system of nanocone structures.Furthermore,the superhydrophobic nanocone surfaces were verified to be a promising anti-icing/icephobic materials,on which the water droplets needed to spend the time of ~517 s to complete the entire freezing process at-10 ℃,displaying the increased ~50 times of icing-delay performance comparing with untreated substrate.Even if ice finally was formed on the superhydrophobic nanocone surfaces,it could be easily removed away with lower ice adhesion of^45 kPa.The repeatable measurement of ice adhesion strength on the same place of the superhydrophobic surface is still far less than the surface ice adhesion of smooth substrate,exhibiting better stability.Yuehan Xie Haifeng Chen Yizhou Shen Jie Tao Mingming Jin Yu Wu Wenqing Hou 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,1:7

6Methyltransferase like 13 mediates the translation of Snail in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Methyltransferase like 13(METTL13),a kind of methyltransferase,is implicated in protein binding and synthesis.The upregulation of METTL13 has been reported in a variety of tumors.However,little was known about its potential function in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)so far.In this study,we found that METTL13 was significantly upregulated in HNSCC at both mRNA and protein level.Increased METTL13 was negatively associated with clinical prognosis.And METTL13 markedly affected HNSCC cellular phenotypes in vivo and vitro.Further mechanism study revealed that METTL13 could regulate EMT signaling pathway by mediating enhancing translation efficiency of Snail,the key transcription factor in EMT,hence regulating the progression of EMT.Furthermore,Snail was verified to mediate METTL13-induced HNSCC cell malignant phenotypes.Altogether,our study had revealed the oncogenic role of METTL13 in HNSCC,and provided a potential therapeutic strategy.Xiaochen Wang Kang Li Yuehan Wan Fangfang Chen Maosheng Cheng Gan Xiong Ganping Wang Shuang Chen Zhi Chen Jianwen Chen Xiuyun Xu Cheng Wang Liang Peng Demeng Chen 2021International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,3:3
7InP quantum dots on g-C_(3)N_(4) nanosheets to promote molecular oxygen activation under visible light显示文摘Largely limited by the high dissociation energy of the O—O bond,the photocatalytic molecular oxygen activation is highly challenged,which re strains the application of photocatalytic oxidation technology for atmospheric pollutants removal.Herein,we design and fabricate the InP QDs/g-C_(3)N_(4) compounds.The introduction of InP QDs promotes the charge transfer within the interface resulting in the effective separation of photo-generated carriers.Furthermore,InP QDs greatly facilitates the activation of molecular oxygen and promote the formation of O_(2)·under visible-light illuminatio n.These conclusions are identified by experimental and calculation results.Hence,NO can be combined with the O_(2)·to form O—O—N—O intermediate to direct conversion into NO_(3).As a result,the NO removal ratio of g-C_(3)N_(4) has a one fold increase after InP QDs loaded and the generation of NO_(2) is effectively inhibited.This wo rk may provide a strategy to design highly efficient materials for molecular oxygen activation.Yuehan Cao Qian Zheng Zhiqiang Rao Ruiyang Zhang Zhanghui Xie Shan Yu Ying Zhou 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:3
8Expression Profiles and Protein Complexes of Starch Biosynthetic Enzymes from White-Core and Waxy Mutants Induced from High Amylose Indica Rice显示文摘Physicochemical properties of endosperm starches in milled rice determine its cooking and eating quality.Amylose is synthesized by granule-bound starch synthase I(GBSSI),whilst amylopectin is synthesized by the synergistic activities of starch synthases(SSs),branching enzymes(BEs)and debranching enzymes(DBEs).However,the complexes formed by starch biosynthetic enzymes are not well characterized.Gene expression profiles and protein complexes were determined in white-core(GM645)and waxy(GM077)mutants derived from a high amylose indica rice Guangluai 4(GLA4).In GM645,genes including AGPS1,GBSSI,SSIIa,BEI,BEIIa,BEIIb,PUL,ISA1 and SP were significantly downregulated during seed development.In GM077,the expression levels of AGPL2,AGPS1,AGPS2b,SSIIIa,BEI,PUL and ISA1 were significantly upregulated.Co-immunoprecipitation assays revealed interactions of SSs-BEs,SSs-PUL and BEs-PUL in developing seeds.However,weak SSI-SSIIa interaction was detected in GM077,whilst SSI-PUL interaction was absent.Weak interaction signals for SSI-SSIIa,SSIIa-BEI,SSIIa-BEIIb,BEI-BEIIb and SSI-BEI were also observed in GM645.These results suggest that the protein-protein interactions for starch biosynthesis are modified in mutants,which provides insight into the mechanisms of starch biosynthesis,particularly in indica rice.CHEN Yaling PANG Yuehan BAO Jinsong 2020Rice science2020,27,2:2
9ECOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF NITROGEN DEPOSITION ON URBAN FORESTS: AN OVERVIEW显示文摘The global urban area is expanding continuously,resulting in unprecedented emissions and deposition of reactive nitrogen(N)in urban environments.However,large knowledge gaps remain in the ecological effects of N deposition on urban forests that provide key ecosystem services for an increasing majority of city dwellers.The current understanding of the spatial patterns and ecological effects of N deposition in urban forests was synthesized based on a literature review of observational and experimental studies.Nitrogen deposition generally increases closer to cities,resulting in an urban hotspot phenomenon.Chemical components of N deposition also shift across urban-suburban-rural gradients,showing higher ratios of ammonium to nitrate in and around urban areas.The ecological effects of N deposition on urban forest ecosystems are overviewed with a special focus on ecosystem N cycling,soil acidification,nutrient imbalances,soil greenhouse gas emissions,tree growth and forest productivity,and plant and soil microbial diversity.The distinct effects of unprecedented N deposition on urban forests are discussed in comparison with the common effects in natural forests.Despite the existing research efforts,several key research needs are highlighted to fill the knowledge gaps in the ecological effects of N deposition on urban forests.Enzai DU Nan XIA Yuying GUO Yuehan TIAN Binghe LI Xuejun LIU Wim DE VRIES 2022Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2022,9,3:2

16Correlation of gut microbiota and neurotransmitters in a rat model of post-traumatic stress disorder显示文摘Objective:To determine the effect of gut microbiota on a rat model of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)and explore the correlation of gut microbiota with behavior and neurotransmitters.Methods:We established a single prolonged stress(SPS)model to examine the pathogenesis of PTSD on rat behavior,gut microbiota,and neurotransmitter levels.Rats were separated into control and model groups,and neurotransmitter levels were measured using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.Then,16 S rRNA sequencing was used to compare the gut microbiota between the control and model groups.Results:Compared with those in the control group,freezing time significantly increased,while number of standing upright,crossing frequency,time spent in the central arena,and total distance traveled were significantly reduced in the model group after exposure to SPS(all P<.05).Meanwhile,serotonin,or 5-hydroxytryptamine,levels in the brain in the model group were significantly lower than those the control group(P紏.0332).In addition,changes were observed in the gut microbiota diversity and relative abundances of bacterial phyla,orders,families,and genera in the model group.Especially,changes in Firmicutes,Bacteroidetes,Cyanobacteria,and Proteobacteria levels were most pronounced after SPS exposure.Correlation analysis showed that the strongest positive correlation was found between Bacteroidaceae and 5-HT(P?.0009).Moreover,RF32 abundance was the most negatively related to 5-HT(P?.0009),crossing frequency(P?.0007),and total distance(P?.0003).Conclusion:Our results suggest that SPS model rats showed differences in behavior,neurotransmitter levels,and gut microbiota with control rats.Moreover,Firmicutes,Bacteroidetes,Cyanobacteria,and Proteobacteria were most relevant to the exhibited fear-like and anxiety-like behaviors and significant serotonin content reduction in SPS model rats.Qin Zhou Tianshi Sun Fengzhi Wu Feng Li Yan Liu Weihong Li Ning Dai Libo Tan Tenghui Li Yuehan Song 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,4:1

19Examining Health of Wetlands with Multiple Ecosystem Services as Targets in China’s Coastal Regions显示文摘Coastal zones are key interconnectors of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.Due to the degradation and fragmentation of coastal wetlands,there is an urgent need to develop assessment methodology to compare the health of wetland ecosystems at different spatial scales.This will help efficiently develop and implement protections using easy-to-access ecosystem health data.This study aims to understand the spatial distribution of coastal and inland wetland health for China’s coastal regions.A Wetland Health Index(WHI)was developed to provide a basis for policy and decision making.Four utilization models—Long Term Model,Open Model,Nature Reserve Model,and Protected and Economic Model—were defined in the context of China’s coastal regions to specifically examine wetland health.Results show that the average WHI score was 63.6 with the range of 44.8–84.3 for 35 National Nature Reserves(NNRs),and the southern NNRs generally performed better than the northern NNRs.The wetlands in the southern provinces/municipalities are relatively healthier than their northern counterparts.The competent authority has slight influence on WHI scores but duration of conservation establishment does not show a clear correlation.With increasing economic activity,the differences in health conditions(WHI scores)of China’s coastal regions also increase.Gross Domestic Product(GDP)or economic intensification does not relate to WHI scores.Appropriate trade-offs between wetland management and economic development could contribute to improve health conditions,conservation and utilization of coastal and inland wetlands.ZHOU Yangming DOU Yuehan YU Xiubo ZHANG Li HUANG Chong WANG Yuyu LI Xiaowei LI He JIA Yifei BAKKER Martha CARSJENS Gerrit Jan ZHOU Yan DUAN Houlang 2020Chinese Geographical Science2020,30,4:1
