2A Genomic Variation Map Provides Insights into the Genetic Basis of Spring Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp.pekinensis)Selection显示文摘Chinese cabbage is the most consumed leafy crop in East Asian countries.However,premature bolting induced by continuous low temperatures severely decreases the yield and quality of the Chinese cabbage, and therefore restricts its planting season and geographic distribution.In the past 40years,spring Chinese cabbage with strong winterness has been selected to meet the market demand.Here,we report a genome variation map of Chinese cabbage generated from the resequencing data of 194 geographically diverse accessions of three ecotypes.In-depth analyses of the selection sweeps and genome-wide patterns revealed that spring Chinese cabbage was selected from a specific population of autumn Chinese cabbage around the area of Shandong peninsula in northern China.We identified 23 genomic loci that underwent intensive selection,and further demonstrated by gene expression and haplotype analyses that the incorporation of elite alleles of VERNALISATION INSENTIVE 3.1(BrVIN3.1)and FLOWER LOCUS C 1(BrFLC1)is a determinant genetic source of variation during selection.Moreover,we showed that the quantitative response of BrVIN3.1 to cold due to the sequence variations in the cis elements of the BrVlN3.1 promoter significantly contributes to bolting-time variation in Chinese cabbage.Collectively, our study provides valuable insights into the genetic basis of spring Chinese cabbage selection and will facilitate the breeding of bolting-resistant Varieties by molecular-marker-assisted selection,transgenic or gene editingapproaches.Tongbing Su Weihong Wang Peirong Li Bin Zhang Pan Li Xiaoyun Xin Honghe Sun Yangjun Yu Deshuang Zhang Xiuyun Zhao Changlong Wen Gang Zhou Yuntong Wang Hongkun Zheng Shuancang Yu Fenglan Zhang 2018Molecular Plant2018,11,11:6
3VqMAPKKK38 is essential for stilbene accumulation in grapevine显示文摘Vitis species,including grapevine,produce a class of secondary metabolites called stilbenes that are important for plant disease resistance and can have positive effects on human health.Mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling cascades not only play key roles in plant defense responses but also contribute to stilbene biosynthesis in grapevine.MAPKKKs function at the upper level of the MAPK network and initiate signaling through this pathway.In this study,a Raf-like MAPKKK gene,VqMAPKKK38,was identified and functionally characterized from the Chinese wild grapevine V.quinquangularis accession‘Danfeng-2’.We observed that VqMAPKKK38 transcript levels were elevated by powdery mildew infection,high salinity conditions and chilling stresses,as well as in response to treatments by the hormones salicylic acid(SA),methyl jasmonate(MeJA),ethylene(Eth)and abscisic acid(ABA).In addition,based on both transient overexpression and gene suppression of VqMAPKKK38 in grapevine leaves,we found that VqMAPKKK38 positively regulates stilbene synthase transcription and stilbene accumulation probably by mediating the activation of the transcription factor MYB14.In addition,both hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)and calcium influx activated VqMAPKKK38 expression and stilbene biosynthesis,which suggests that VqMAPKKK38 may be involved in the calcium signaling and ROS signaling pathways.Yuntong Jiao Dan Wang Lan Wang Changyue Jiang Yuejin Wang 2017Horticulture Research2017,4,1:4
4Laser textured dimple-patterns to govern the surface wettability of superhydrophobic aluminum plates显示文摘A laser texturing technique herein can endow bare aluminum alloy surface with regular dimple-pattern array and thus generates a case hardening.After STA treatment,these laser-textured samples become superhydrophobic.The surface wettability of the laser-textured samples can be regulated by controlling the dimple-pattern dimensions during the laser processing.It is noteworthy that a fluorescence method is utilized to record the zones on the superhydrophobic surface penetrated by small enough water molecules.Compared with a general method of the Cassie-Baxter theoretical calculation,this fluorescence method intuitively exhibits the air trapping ability of the superhydrophobic surface.Furthermore,the laser-textured superhydrophobic samples have a notable hysteresis phenomenon at the initial period of UMT friction because the air cushion trapped within superhydrophobic samples have strong repellency against water droplets on the hydrophilic steel ball.Additionally,such samples display strong mechanical stability in comparison with bare aluminum alloy because of the presence of case hardening on the surface of the laser patterns.The research results above provide a valuable reference for designing a surface with different wettability,which may inspire practical applications in the fields of fluid transport,droplet manipulation,water harvesting and microfluidic devices.Wei Tong Lingling Cui Rongxian Qiu Chengqi Yan Yuntong Liu Nan Wang Dangsheng Xiong 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,30:3

8An integrated spectroscopic strategy to trace the geographical origins of emblic medicines: Application for the quality assessment of natural medicines显示文摘Emblic medicine is a popular natural source in the world due to its outstanding healthcare and therapeutic functions.Our preliminary results indicated that the quality of emblic medicines might have an apparent regional variation.A rapid and effective geographical traceability system has not been designed yet.To trace the geographical origins so that their quality can be controlled,an integrated spectroscopic strategy including spectral pretreatment,outlier diagnosis,feature selection,data fusion,and machine learning algorithm was proposed.A featured data matrix(245220)was successfully generated,and a carefully adjusted RF machine learning algorithm was utilized to develop the geographical traceability model.The results demonstrate that the proposed strategy is effective and can be generalized.Sensitivity(SEN),specificity(SPE)and accuracy(ACC)of 97.65%,99.85%and 97.63%for the calibrated set,as well as 100.00%predictive efficiency,were obtained using this spectroscopic analysis strategy.Our study has created an integrated analysis process for multiple spectral data,which can achieve a rapid,nondestructive and green quality detection for emblic medicines originating from seventeen geographical origins.Luming Qi Furong Zhong Yang Chen Shengnan Mao Zhuyun Yan Yuntong Ma 2020Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,4:1

16Machine learning for combustion显示文摘Combustion science is an interdisciplinary study that involves nonlinear physical and chemical phenomena in time and length scales,including complex chemical reactions and fluid flows.Combustion widely supplies energy for powering vehicles,heating houses,generating electricity,cooking food,etc.The key to study combustion is to improve the combustion efficiency with minimum emission of pollutants.Machine learning facilitates datadriven techniques for handling large amounts of combustion data,either obtained through experiments or simulations under multiple spatiotemporal scales,thereby finding the hidden patterns underlying these data and promoting combustion research.This work presents an overview of studies on the applications of machine learning in combustion science fields over the past several decades.We introduce the fundamentals of machine learning and its usage in aiding chemical reactions,combustion modeling,combustion measurement,engine performance prediction and optimization,and fuel design.The opportunities and limitations of using machine learning in combustion studies are also discussed.This paper aims to provide readers with a portrait of what and how machine learning can be used in combustion research and to inspire researchers in their ongoing studies.Machine learning techniques are rapidly advancing in this era of big data,and there is high potential for exploring the combination between machine learning and combustion research and achieving remarkable results.Lei Zhou Yuntong Song Weiqi Ji Haiqiao Wei 2022Energy and AI2022,7,1:1

20Inner alkyl chain modulation of small molecular acceptors enables molecular packing optimization and efficient organic solar cells显示文摘With the generation of Y6,organic solar cells have reached remarkable achievement of over 19%efficiency.Alkyl chain is of importance to modulate intermolecular stacking and possibly enhance optoelectronic properties of small molecule acceptors(SMAs).Three alkyl chains of 2-ethylhexyl,2-butylocyl and 3-ethylheptyl were selected to obtain G6-EH,G6-BO and G6-EHep molecules,respectively.Compared to G6-EH and G6-BO,G6-EHep was found inducing unfavourable large domain size.Furthermore,we discover that 2-butyloctyl effectively inhibits monomolecular and bimolecular recombination,improves molecular packing,generates more balanced carrier mobility and enhances exciton dissociation.The SMA with 2-butyloctyl alkyl chains(G6-BO)shows the best electrical and morphological characteristics,achieving a higher power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 17.06%,with an open circuit voltage of 0.912 V,a short-circuit current of 24.22 m A cm-2and a fill factor of 77.25%.Finally,using the ternary strategy by incorporating the G6-BO acceptor into PM6:BTP-e C9,we achieved a higher PCE of18.13%with enhanced electron transport.Yuntong Guo Zhenyu Chen Jinfeng Ge Jinna Zhang Lin Xie Ruixiang Peng Wei Ma Ziyi Ge 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,2:0
