| 1 | Detecting Droughts in Southwest China from GPS Vertical Position Displacements显示文摘The solid Earth responds elastically to terrestrial water storage(TWS)changes.Here global positioning system(GPS)vertical position data at 31 stations from the crustal movement observation network of China(CMONOC)from August 2010 to December 2016 are used to detect droughts in Southwest China.Monthly GPS vertical position displacements respond negatively to precipitation changes and TWS changes observed by gravity recovery and climate experiments(GRACE)as well as river water level variations.GPS vertical position anomalies(the non-seasonal term)are well correlated negatively(correlations of about-0.70)with the commonly used meteorological composite index(CI)in China and the GRACE drought severity index(GRACE-DSI),but less correlated with the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index(SPEI).Compared to CI,GPS vertical position anomalies have the advantage of detecting droughts caused by abrupt precipitation deficits in a short time.GRACE-DSI is less accurate in drought monitoring for some periods due to the missing data,while the severity of abrupt precipitation absent in some cases can be overestimated from SPEI with big variability.This study shows the reliability and advantages of GPS data in drought monitoring. | Chaolong YAO Zhicai LUO Yueming HU Changwei WANG Rui ZHANG Jinming LI | 2020 | Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,3: | 5 |

| 3 | Genome-wide analysis of NDR1/HIN1-like genes in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)and functional characterization of CaNHL4 under biotic and abiotic stresses显示文摘Plant NDR1/HIN1-like(NHL)genes play an important role in triggering plant defenses in response to biotic stresses.In this study,we performed a genome-wide identification of the NHL genes in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)and characterized the functional roles of these CaNHL genes in response to abiotic stresses and infection by different pathogens.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that CaNHLs can be classified into five distinct subgroups,with each group containing generic and specific motifs.Regulatory element analysis showed that the majority of the promoter regions of the identified CaNHLs contain jasmonic acid(JA)-responsive and salicylic acid(SA)-responsive elements,and transcriptomic analysis revealed that CaNHL genes are expressed in all the examined tissues of pepper.The CaNHL1,CaNHL4,CaNHL6,CaNHL10,CaNHL11,and CaNHL12 genes were significantly upregulated under abiotic stress as well as in response to different pathogens,such as TMV,Phytophthora capsici and Pseudomonas syringae.In addition,we found that CaNHL4 localizes to the plasma membrane.CaNHL4-silenced pepper plants display significantly increased susceptibility to TMV,Phytophthora capsici and Pseudomonas syringae,exhibiting reduced expression of JA-related and SA-related genes and reduced ROS production.However,transient overexpression of CaNHL4 in pepper increases the expression of JArelated and SA-related genes,enhances the accumulation of ROS,and inhibits the infection of these three pathogens.Collectively,for the first time,we identified the NHL genes in pepper and demonstrated that CaNHL4 is involved in the production of ROS and that it also regulates the expression of JA-related and SA-related genes in response to different pathogens,suggesting that members of the CaNHL family play an essential role in the disease resistance of pepper. | Changyun Liu Haoran Peng Xinyu Li Chaolong Liu Xing Lv Xuefeng Wei Aihong Zou Jian Zhang Guangjin Fan Guanhua Ma Lisong Ma Xianchao Sun | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |

| 10 | Alternations in the gut microbiota and metabolome with newly diagnosed unstable angina显示文摘Gut microbiota plays an important role in coronary heart disease, but its compositional and functional changes in unstable angina(UA) remain unexplored. We performed metagenomic sequencing of 133 newly diagnosed UA patients and 133 sex-and age-matched controls, and profiled the fecal and plasma metabolomes in 30 case-control pairs. The alpha diversity of gut microbiota was increased in UA patients:the adjusted odds ratios(ORs) per standard deviation increase in Shannon and Simpson indices were 1.30(95% confidence interval, 1.01-1.70) and 1.36(1.05-1.81), respectively. Two common species(depleted Klebsiella pneumoniae and enriched Streptococcus parasanguinis;P ≤ 0.002) and three rare species(depleted Weissella confusa, enriched Granulicatella adiacens and Erysipelotrichaceae bacterium 6_1_45;P ≤ 0.005) were associated with UA. The UA-associated gut microbiota was depleted in the pathway of Lphenylalanine degradation(P = 0.001), primarily contributed by Klebsiella pneumoniae. Consistently, we found increased circulating phenylalanine in UA patients(OR = 2.76 [1.17-8.16]). Moreover, Streptococcus parasanguinis was negatively correlated with fecal citrulline(Spearman's r_(s)=-0.470, P = 0.009), a metabolite depleted in UA patients(OR = 0.26 [0.08-0.63]).
