3Oxaliplatin plus S-1 or capecitabine as neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced gastric cancer with D2lymphadenectomy: 5-year follow-up results of a phase II-III randomized trial显示文摘Objective: To compare the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NACT) with adjuvant chemotherapy(ACT)using oxaliplatin plus S-1(SOX) or capecitabine(CapeOX) on gastric cancer patients with D2 lymphadenectomy.Methods: This was a two-by-two factorial randomized phase II-III trial, and registered on ISRCTN registry(No. ISRCTN12206108). Locally advanced gastric cancer patients were randomized to neoadjuvant SOX,neoadjuvant CapeOX, adjuvant SOX, or adjuvant CapeOX arms. Primary analysis was performed on an intentionto-treat(ITT) basis using overall survival(OS) as primary endpoint.Results: This trial started in September 2011 and closed in December 2012 with 100 patients enrolled.Treatment completion rate was 56%, 52%, 38% and 30% in the four arms, respectively. NACT group had fewer dropouts due to unacceptable toxicity(P=0.042). Surgical complication rate did not differ by the four groups(P=0.986). No survival significant difference was found comparing NACT with ACT(P=0.664; 5-year-OS: 70% vs.74% respectively), nor between the SOX and CapeOX groups(P=0.252; 5-year-OS: 78% vs. 66% respectively).Subgroup analysis showed SOX significantly improved survival in patients with diffuse type(P=0.048).Conclusions: No significant survival difference was found between NACT and ACT. SOX and CapeOX had good safety and efficacy as neoadjuvant regimens. 5In situ calcite U-Pb geochronology by high-sensitivity single-collector LA-SF-ICP-MS显示文摘U-Pb geochronology of calcite using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) is an emerging method,with potential applications to a vast array of geological problems.Due to the low levels of U and Pb in calcite,measurement using higher-sensitivity instruments,such as sector field (SF) ICP-MS,have advantages over more commonly used quadrupole (Q) ICP-MS instruments.Using a Thermo Element XR ICP-MS,we demonstrate that the Jet+X cone combination with the N_(2) enhancement technique provides the best sensitivity for measuring U and Pb isotopes.This higher sensitivity improves the precision of calcite U-Pb isotope measurements,and permits dating at high spatial resolutions (<110μm) and for samples containing low contents of^(238)U (<1μg g^(–1)) and/or^(207)Pb (i.e.,young samples<10 Ma).Using a spot size of 85μm with a low fluence (~2.0 J cm^(–2)),the laser-induced elemental fractionation of^(206)Pb/^(238)U in the NIST SRM 614,ARM-3 and WC-1 reference materials are insignificant (<2.2%).Adopting the optimized instrument parameters,we analysed four commonly-used calcite U-Pb reference materials (WC-1,Duff Brown Tank,JT,and ASH-15).The results match well with published isotope dilution data,demonstrating the reliability of our technique.ARM-3,an andesitic glass,is shown to be an appropriate reference material for both^(207)Pb/^(206)Pb calibration and instrument optimization because of its moderate contents of U(~3.75μg g^(–1)) and Pb (~12.7μg g^(–1)).We further demonstrate that the image-guided approach using LA-ICP-MS elemental mapping is an efficient tool in obtaining robust ages.Shitou WU Yueheng YANG Nick M.W.ROBERTS Ming YANG Hao WANG Zhongwu LAN Bohang XIE Tianyi LI Lei XU Chao HUANG Liewen XIE Jinhui YANG Fuyuan WU 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,6:6
6Microstructure improvement related coercivity enhancement for sintered NdFeB magnets after optimized additional heat treatment显示文摘The micro structure, especially the Nd-rich phase and the grain boundary, in sintered NdFeB magnets plays an important role in magnetic reversal and coercivity mechanism. To better understand the effects of the microstructure on the coercivity, we investigated the microstructure and properties improvements of a commercial sintered NdFeB magnet after optimized additional heat treatment. The coercivity is enhanced from 1399 to 1560 kA/m. This enhancement has been explained in terms of the evolution of the grain boundary structure, and the formation of continuous thin layers of Nd-rich phase is important for high coercivity. The micromagnetic simulation together with the numerical analysis based on the nucleation model suggest that the reversed magnetic domains nucleate mainly at the interface of multijunctions of Nd_2 Fe_(14)B grains with high stray fields during the demagnetization process. Both improved anisotropy fields at grain boundaries and reduced stray fields at multi-junction Nd-rich phases contribute to the coercivity enhancement. 8Diagnostic value of negative enrichment and immune fluorescence in situ hybridization for intraperitoneal free cancer cells of gastric cancer显示文摘Objective:To explore the intraperitoneal free cancer cell(IFCC)detection value of negative enrichment and immune fluorescence in situ hybridization(NEimFISH)on chromosomes(CEN)8/17.Methods:To verify the reliability of NEimFISH,29 gastric cancer tumors,their adjacent tissues and greater omental tissues were tested.Our study then included 105 gastric cancer patients for IFCC.We defined patients as IFCC-positive if a signal was detected,regardless of the detailed cancer cell numbers.A comparison of clinicopathological features was conducted among IFCC groups.We also compared the diagnosis value and peritoneal recurrence predictive value among different detection methods.The comparison of IFCC number was also conducted among different groups.Results:A cutoff of 2.5 positive cells could distinguish all benign tissue samples and 97%of malignant tissue samples in our study.Compared to intestinal gastric cancer,patients with diffuse gastric cancer tended to have more IFCCs(6 vs.4,P=0.002).The IFCC counts were often higher in the lymphovascular invasion positive group than negative group(3 vs.1,P=0.022).All IFCC samples that were considered positive using conventional cytology were also found to be positive using NEimFISH.When compared to conventional cytology and paraffin pathology,NEimFISH had a higher IFCC positive rate(68.9%)and higher one-year peritoneal recurrence predictive value with area under the curve(AUC)of 0.922.Conclusions:Gastric cancer could be effectively diagnosed by NEimFISH.The IFCC number found using NEimFISH on CEN8/17 is closely associated with Lauren type and vascular invasion of cancer.NEimFISH is a reliable detection modality with a higher positive detection rate,higher one-year peritoneal recurrence predictive value and quantitative features for IFCC of gastric cancer.Anqiang Wang Zhongwu Li Qian Wang Yali Bai Xin Ji Tao Fu Ke Ji Yanwen Xue Tingxu Han Xiaojiang Wu Ji Zhang Yingjie Yang Guobin Xu Zhaode Bu Jiafu Ji 2019Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2019,31,6:3
9Utility of CT in differentiating liver metastases of well-differentiated gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms from poorly-differentiated neuroendocrine neoplasms显示文摘Objective: To determine the capability of dynamic enhanced computed tomography(CT) to differentiate liver metastases(LMs) of well-differentiated from poorly-differentiated gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms(GEP-NENs).Methods: Patients with LMs of GEP-NENs who underwent dynamic enhanced CT examination in Peking University Cancer Hospital from January 2009 to October 2015 were included and data were retrospectively analyzed. We assessed the qualitative and quantitative CT features to identify the significant differentiating CT features of LMs of poorly-differentiated GEP-NENs from those of well-differentiated GEP-NENs using univariate analysis and a multivariate logistic regression model.Results: The study included 22 patients with LMs of well-differentiated GEP-NENs and 32 patients with LMs of poorly-differentiated GEP-NENs. Univariate analysis revealed statistically significant differences between the LMs of well-and poorly-differentiated GEP-NENs in terms of feeding arteries(36.4% vs. 75.0%, χ2=8.061,P=0.005), intratumoral neovascularity(18.2% vs. 59.4%, χ2=9.047, P=0.003), lymphadenopathy(27.3% vs. 81.2%,χ2=15.733, P<0.001), tumor-to-aortic ratio in the hepatic arterial and portal venous phase(T-A/AP: 0.297±0.080 vs.0.251±0.059, t=2.437, P=0.018; T-A/PVP: 0.639±0.138 vs. 0.529±0.117, t=3.163, P=0.003) and tumor-to-liver ratio in the hepatic arterial phase(T-L/AP: 1.108±0.267 vs. 0.907±0.240, t=2.882, P=0.006). The LMs of poorlydifferentiated GEP-NENs showed more feeding arteries, more intratumoral neovascularity, more lymphadenopathy and a lower tumor-to-aortic ratio. Multivariate analysis suggested that intratumoral neovascularity [P=0.015, OR=0.108, 95% confidence interval(95% CI), 0.018–0.646], lymphadenopathy(P=0.001,OR=0.055, 95% CI, 0.009–0.323) and T-A/PVP(P=0.004, OR=5.3 E–5, 95% CI, 0.000–0.044) were independent factors for differentiating LMs of poorly-differentiated from well-differentiated GEP-NENs.Conclusions: Dynamic enhanced CT features(intratumoral neovascularity, lymphadenopathy and T-A/PVP)are useful in the pathological classification of LMs of GEP-NENs.Yong Cui Xiaoting Li Shunyu Gao Zhongwu Li Yanling Li Ming Lu Yingshi Sun 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,1:3
10Sustainable management of Chinese grasslands—issues and knowledge显示文摘China has almost 400 Mhm^2 of grasslands,90% of which is considered degraded to varying degrees,on which 16 million herders depend for their livelihoods and many more indirectly, along the value-adding chain.Since 1950, average stocking rates across China have increased 4-fold. National policies have focused over recent decades on finding ways to rehabilitate the degraded grasslands, to sustain livestock production from them, and to improve the livelihoods of herder households, who are among the poorest people in China. A large collaborative program commenced in the early 2000 s to help find solutions to the sustainable management of grasslands.This paper summarizes key findings of many research projects, identifies where knowledge is weak and argues that the successful rehabilitation of grasslands will also require policies that provide incentives and support for herders as they move from a focus on survival to a focus on production of higher quality products, for which consumers are increasingly willing to pay. A key focus is to emphasize the improvement of animal production per head. When this is done, it naturally leads to lower stocking rates, which in turn provides the opportunities for grasslands to recover. Across a range of experiments, farm demonstrations and analyses using models, in Inner Mongolia and Gansu, a consistent result has been that a 50% reduction in stocking rates, improves net household income and starts the process of grassland rehabilitation.Rather than focusing on stocking rates, better management of grasslands could be achieved by maintaining the grasslands above critical values for herbage mass, values that help optimize botanical composition, reduce soil erosion, optimize animal growth rates and aid ecosystem functions. Managing to critical values for herbage mass is likely to be more effective than efforts to calculate sustainable stocking rates. An early summer rest is valuable for aiding grassland rehabilitation and summer productivity, but a total grazing ban(typically for 5 years)may not achieve its aims as evidence shows it may take 10–15 years to achieve a better grassland state. Lessdesirable plant species often increase in degraded grasslands that are rested and grazing can help manage those species. Surveys of herders indicate they have very mixed views on the benefits of total grazing bans that are unlikely to rehabilitate grasslands to an ideal botanical composition.The current objective is to work with grasslands that herders now have and optimize the existing composition.Grazing grasslands in winter results primarily in weight loss by animals and there is now evidence of how winter grazing reduces grassland growth in the next summer. It is better to keep animals in well-built sheds and feed them better, improved feeding through the cold months is required. 11An injectable conductive hydrogel restores electrical transmission at myocardial infarct site to preserve cardiac function and enhance repair显示文摘Myocardial infarction(MI)leads to massive cardiomyocyte death and deposition of collagen fibers.This fibrous tissue disrupts electrical signaling in the myocardium,leading to cardiac systolic and diastolic dysfunction,as well as arrhythmias.Conductive hydrogels are a promising therapeutic strategy for MI.Here,we prepared a highly water-soluble conductive material(GP)by grafting polypyrrole(PPy)onto non-conductive gelatin.This component was added to the gel system formed by the Schiff base reaction between oxidized xanthan gum(OXG)and gelatin to construct an injectable conductive hydrogel.The prepared self-healing OGGP3(3 wt%GP)hydrogel had good biocompatibility,elastic modulus,and electrical conductivity that matched the natural heart.The prepared biomaterials were injected into the rat myocardial scar tissue 2 days after MI.We found that the cardiac function of the rats treated with OGGP3 was improved,making it more difficult to induce arrhythmias.The electrical resistivity of myocardial fibrous tissue was reduced,and the conduction velocity of myocardial tissue was increased.Histological analysis showed reduced infarct size,increased left ventricular wall thickness,increased vessel density,and decreased inflammatory response in the infarcted area.Our findings clearly demonstrate that the OGGP3 hydrogel attenuates ventricular remodeling and inhibits infarct dilation,thus showing its potential for the treatment of MI.Linghong Zhang Tao Li Yan Yu Kun Shi Zhongwu Bei Yongjun Qian Zhiyong Qian 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:2
12A 18FDG PET/CT-based volume parameter is a predictor of overall survival in patients with local advanced gastric cancer显示文摘Objective: The present study investigated the prognosis value of preoperative fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG)positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) in patients with local advanced gastric cancer(LAGC).Methods: In total, 144 patients [median age 63(range: 48-80) years old] with LAGC underwent 18 F-FDG PET/CT prior to any treatment. The maximum standardized uptake values(SUVmax), mean standardized uptake values(SUVmean), metabolic tumor volume(MTV) and total lesion glycolysis(TLG) of the primary lesion were measured on PET/CT and correlated with clinicopathological features and survival.Results: Significant differences in SUVmean, SUVmax, MTV and TLG were found according to Lauren’s classification, histologic grade and T category(P<0.05). During the 26.5-month follow-up, 51(35.4%) patients died and 70(48.6%) exhibited disease progression. The optimal thresholds of MTV and TLG were 15.1 cm^3 and 47.3 cm^3, respectively. The 3-year progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) for patients with high TLG values were 30% and 38% compared to 38% and 47% for low TLG values, respectively(P<0.05). Univariate and multifactor analyses demonstrated that lymph node metastasis and T stage were independent prognostic factors for PFS;T stage, histologic grade and TLG were independent prognostic factors for OS(P<0.05). 16Solution-processable precursor route for fabricating ultrathin silica film for high performance and low voltage organic transistors显示文摘Silica is one of the most commonly used materials for dielectric layer in organic thin-film transistors due to its excellent stability, excellent electrical properties, mature preparation process, and good compatibility with organic semiconductors. However, most of conventional preparation methods for silica film are generally performed at high temperature and/or high vacuum. In this paper, we introduce a simple solution spin-coating method to fabricate silica thin film from precursor route, which possesses a low leakage current, high capacitance, and low surface roughness. The silica thin film can be produced in the condition of low temperature and atmospheric environment. To meet various demands, the thickness of film can be adjusted by means of preparation conditions such as the speed of spin-coating and the concentration of solution. The p-type and n-type organic field effect transistors fabricated by using this film as gate electrodes exhibit excellent electrical performance including low voltage and high performance. 17The relationship between slip behavior and dislocation arrangement for large-size Mo-3Nb single crystal at room temperature显示文摘The slip behavior and mechanism of large-size Mo-3Nb single crystal have been investigated and disclosed comprehensively at room temperature by quasi-static compression with various strains.With the increase of deformation,the slip traces change from shallow non-uniform slip lines to dense and uniform slip bands.Different slip traces in the same deformation condition were observed,suggesting that the slip traces in the single crystal are controlled by different types and arrangement mechanisms of mobile dislocation.To clarify the relationship between slip behavior and dislocation arrangement,TEM and AFM analyses were performed.Significant discrepancy between the mobility of screw segments and edge segments caused by double cross-slip multiplication mechanism is the reason why different slip features were witnessed.During the whole slip deformation process,screw dislocations play a dominant role and they are inclined to form wall-substructures by interaction and entanglement.With the development of dislocation accumulation,the entangled dislocation walls evolve into dislocation cells with higher stability.Benqi Jiao Qinyang Zhao Yongqing Zhao Laiping Li Zhongwu Hu Xuanqiao Gao Wen Zhang Jianfeng Li 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,33:1
18Fabrication of flexible thin organic transistors by trace water assisted transfer method显示文摘The development of fabrication method for flexible thin organic electronic device is highly important for the flexible and wearable products. Herein, we develop a facile peel-off method to transfer organic thin film to various substrates. In this strategy, polyacrylonitrile(PAN) film can be easily peeled off with trace water and further transferred to various substrates. Using PAN as supporting and dielectric layers, high performance flexible organic transistors are fabricated. 20Virtual bronchoscopic navigation without fluoroscopy guidance for peripheral pulmonary lesions in inexperienced pulmonologist显示文摘Objective:Fluoroscopy guidance is generally required for endobronchial ultrasonography with guide sheath(EBUS-GS)in peripheral pulmonary lesions(PPLs).Virtual bronchoscopic navigation(VBN)can guide the bronchoscope by creating virtual images of the bronchial route to the lesion.The diagnostic yield and safety profiles of VBN without fluoroscopy for PPLs have not been evaluated in inexperienced pulmonologist performing EBUS-GS.Methods:Between January 2016 and June 2017,consecutive patients with PPLs referred for EBUS-GS at a single cancer center were enrolled.The diagnostic yield as well as safety profiles was retrospectively analyzed,and our preliminary experience was shared.Results:A total of 109 patients with 109 lesions were included,99(90.8%)lesions were visible on EBUS imaging.According to the procedure time needed to locate the lesion on EBUS,24.8%(27/109)were deemed technically difficult procedures;however,no significant relationships were identified between candidate parameters and technically difficult procedures.The overall diagnosis yield was 74.3%(81/109),and the diagnostic yield of malignancy was 83.7%(77/92).Lesions larger than 20 mm[odds ratio(OR),2.758;95%confidence interval(95%CI),1.077-7.062;P=0.034]and probe of within type(OR,3.174;95%CI,1.151-8.757,P=0.026)were independent factors leading to a better diagnostic yield in multivariate analysis.About 30 practice procedures were needed to achieve a stable diagnostic yield,and the proportion of technically difficult procedures decreased and stabilized after 70 practice procedures.Regarding complications,one patient(0.9%)had intraoperative hemorrhage(100 mL)which was managed under endoscopy.Conclusions:VBN without fluoroscopy guidance is still useful and safe for PPLs diagnosis,especially for malignant diseases when performed by pulmonologist without previous experience of EBUS-GS.VBN may simplify the process of lesion positioning and further multi-center randomized studies are warranted.Shijie Li Wanpu Yan Mailin Chen Zhongwu Li Yanli Zhu Qi Wu 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,4:1
