Adsorption of mixed cationic-nonionic surfactant and its effect on bentonite structure显示文摘The adsorption of cationic-nonionic mixed surfactant onto bentonite and its effect on bentonite structure were investigated. The objective was to improve the understanding of surfactant behavior on clay mineral for its possible use in remediation technologies of soil and groundwater contaminated by toxic organic compounds. The cationic surfactant used was hexadecylpyridinium bromide(HDPB),and the nonionic surfactant was Triton X-100(TX100).Adsorption of TX100 was enhanced significantly by the addition of HDPB,but this enhancement decreased with an increase in the fraction of the cationic surfactant.Part of HDPB was replaced by TX100 which decreased the adsorption of HDPB.However, the total adsorbed amount of the mixed surfactant was still increased substantially, indicating the synergistic effect between the cationic and nonionic surfactants. The surfactant-modified bentonite was characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area measurement,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric-derivative thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyses.Surfactant intercalation was found to decrease the bentonite specific surface area, pore volume, and surface roughness and irregularities,as calculated by nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. The co-adsorption of the cationic and nonionic surfactants increased the ordering conformation of the adsorbed surfactants on bentonite, but decreased the thermal stability of the organobentonite system. | Yaxin Zhang Yan Zhao Yong Zhu Huayong Wu Hongtao Wang Wenjing Lu | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,8: | 12
Plasma metabolomic and lipidomic alterations associated with COVID-19显示文摘The pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a global public health crisis. The symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe, but the physiological changes associated with COVID-19 are barely understood. In this study,we performed targeted metabolomic and lipidomic analyses of plasma from a cohort of patients with COVID-19 who had experienced different symptoms. We found that metabolite and lipid alterations exhibit apparent correlation with the course of disease in these patients, indicating that the development of COVID-19 affected their whole-body metabolism. In particular, malic acid of the TCA cycle and carbamoyl phosphate of the urea cycle result in altered energy metabolism and hepatic dysfunction, respectively. It should be noted that carbamoyl phosphate is profoundly down-regulated in patients who died compared with patients with mild symptoms. And,more importantly, guanosine monophosphate(GMP),which is mediated not only by GMP synthase but also by CD39 and CD73,is significantly changed between healthy subjects and patients with COVID-19,as well as between the mild and fatal cases. In addition, dyslipidemia was observed in patients with COVID-19.Overall,the disturbed metabolic patterns have been found to align with the progress and severity of COVID-19.This work provides valuable knowledge about plasma biomarkers associated with COVID-19 and potential therapeutic targets,as well as an important resource for further studies of the pathogenesis of COVID-19. | Di Wu Ting Shu Xiaobo Yang Jian-Xin Song Mingliang Zhang Chengye Yao Wen Liu Muhan Huang Yuan Yu Qingyu Yang Tingju Zhu Jiqian Xu Jingfang Mu Yaxin Wang Hong Wang Tang Tang Yujie Ren Yongran Wu Shu-Hai Lin Yang Qiu Ding-Yu Zhang You Shang Xi Zhou | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,7: | 9

Solitary beam propagation in periodic layered Kerr media enables high-efficiency pulse compression and mode self-cleaning显示文摘Generating intense ultrashort pulses with high-quality spatial modes is crucial for ultrafast and strong-field science and can be achieved by nonlinear supercontinuum generation(SCG)and pulse compression. In this work,we propose that the generation of quasi-stationary solitons in periodic layered Kerr media can greatly enhance the nonlinear lightmatter interaction and fundamentally improve the performance of SCG and pulse compression in condensed media. With both experimental and theoretical studies,we successfully identify these solitary modes and reveal their unified condition for stability.Space-time coupling is shown to strongly influence the stability of solitons, leading to variations in the spectral, spatial and temporal profiles of femtosecond pulses.Taking advantage of the unique characteristics of these solitary modes,we first demonstrate single-stage SCG and the compression of femtosecond pulses from 170 to 22 fs with an efficiency>85%.The high spatiotemporal quality of the compressed pulses is further confirmed by highharmonic generation. We also provide evidence of efficient mode self-cleaning,which suggests rich spatiotemporal self-organization of the laser beams in a nonlinear resonator This work offers a route towards highly efficient, simple, stable and highly flexible SCG and pulse compression solutions for state-of-the-art ytterbium laser technology. | Sheng Zhang Zongyuan Fu Bingbing Zhu Guangyu Fan Yudong Chen Shunjia Wang Yaxin Liu Andrius Baltuska Cheng Jin Chuanshan Tian Zhensheng Tao | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,4: | 3

Structural insights into secretory immunoglobulin A and its interaction with a pneumococcal adhesin显示文摘Secretory Immunoglobulin A(SIgA)is the most abundant antibody at the mucosal surface. It possesses two additional subunits besides IgA:the joining chain(J-chain)and secretory component(SC).SC is the ectodomain of the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor(pIgR),which functions to transport IgA to the mucosa. How the J-chain and pIgR/SC facilitate the assembly and secretion of SIgA remains incompletely understood.Furthermore, during the infection of Streptococcus pneumoniae, the pneumococcal adhesin SpsA hijacks pIgR/SC and SIgA to gain entry to human cells and evade host defense. How SpsA targets pIgR/SC and SIgA also remains elusive. Here we report a cryo-electron microscopy structure of the Fc region of IgA1(Fcα)in complex with the J-chain and SC(Fcα-J-SC),which reveals the organization principle of SIgA.We also present a structure of Fcα-J-SC complexed with SpsA,which uncovers the specific interactions between SpsA and human pIgR/SC.These results advance the molecular understanding of SIgA and shed light on S.pneumoniae pathogenesis. | Yuxin Wang Guopeng Wang Yaxin Li Qinyu Zhu Hao Shen Ning Gao Junyu Xiao | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,7: | 1

Association between time in range and cancer mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes:a prospective cohort study显示文摘Background:Little was known about the association among time in range(TIR),time above range(TAR),time below range(TBR),and cancer mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes. We aimed to investigate the association among TIR,TAR,TBR,and the risk of cancer mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:A total of 6225 patients with type 2 diabetes were prospectively recruited in Shanghai,China.TIR was measured with continuous glucose monitoring at baseline and was defined as the average percentage of time in the target glucose range during a 24 h period.Cox proportion hazard regression analysis was used to determine the association between TIR and the risk of cancer mortality. Results:During a mean follow-up of 7.10 years,we confirmed 237 death events related to cancer. The multivariable-adjusted hazard ratio(HR)for cancer mortality was 1.32(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.01-1.75)in patients with TIR≤70%compared with those with TIR>70%.When TIR was considered as a continuous variable, the multivariable-adjusted HR for cancer mortality associated with each 10%decrease in TIR was 1.07(95%CI:1.02-1.14).In the site-specific analysis,a significant association between TIR as a continuous variable and the risk of hepatocellular cancer was found(HR:1.24;95%CI:1.09-1.41).However,no relationship between hemoglobin A1c and cancer mortality was observed(HR:1.04;95%CI:0.97-1.10).Conclusions:The present study found an inverse association of TIR with the risk of cancer mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes.New evidence of TIR was added into the clinical practice that TIR may be an optimal target of glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes. | Yun Shen Chunfang Wang Yaxin Wang Jingyi Lu Lei Chen Lei Zhang Wei Lu Wei Zhu Gang Hu Tian Xia Jian Zhou | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,3: | 1

Recent advances in preparation of metallic superhydrophobic surface by chemical etching and its applications显示文摘In the past few decades, inspired by the superhydrophobic surfaces(SHPS)of animals and plants such as lotus leaves, rose petals, legs of water striders, and wings of butterflies, preparing metal materials with metallic SHPS(MSHPS)have attracted great research interest, due to the great prospect in practical applications. To obtain SHPS on conventional metal materials,it is necessary to construct rough surface, followed by modification with low surface energy substances. In this paper, the action mechanism and the current research status of MSHPS were reviewed through the following aspects.Firstly, the model of wetting theory was presented, and then the progress in MSHPS preparation through chemical etching method was discussed.Secondly, the applications of MSHPS in self-cleaning,anti-icing,corrosion resistance, drag reduction,oil-water separation, and other aspects were introduced. Finally, the challenges encountered in the present application of MSHPS were summarized, and the future research interests were discussed. | Shitong Zhu Wenyi Deng Yaxin Su | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2023,61,9: | 1
Human mobility data in the COVID-19 pandemic:characteristics, applications, and challenges显示文摘The COVID-19 pandemic poses unprecedented challenges around the world. Many studies have applied mobility data to explore spatiotemporal trends over time, investigate associations with other variables, and predict or simulate the spread of COVID-19.Our objective was to provide a comprehensive overview of human mobility open data to guide researchers and policymakers in conducting data-driven evaluations and decision-making for the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious disease outbreaks. We summarized the mobility data usage in COVID-19 studies by reviewing recent publications on COVID-19 and human mobility from a data-oriented perspective. We identified three major sources of mobility data:public transit systems, mobile operators, and mobile phone applications.Four approaches have been commonly used to estimate human mobility:public transit-based flow, social activity patterns,index-based mobility data, and social media-derived mobility data.We compared mobility datasets’characteristics by assessing data privacy, quality, space–time coverage,high-performance data storage and processing, and accessibility. We also present challenges and future directions of using mobility data. This review makes a pivotal contribution to understanding the use of and access to human mobility data in the COVID-19 pandemic and future disease outbreaks. | Tao Hu Siqin Wang Bing She Mengxi Zhang Xiao Huang Yunhe Cui Jacob Khuri Yaxin Hu Xiaokang Fu Xiaoyue Wang Peixiao Wang Xinyan Zhu Shuming Bao Wendy Guan Zhenlong Li | 2021 | International Journal of Digital Earth2021,14,9: | 1
Quantitative study on interactions between interfacial misfit dislocation networks and matrix dislocations in Ni-based single crystal superalloys显示文摘The interactions between the moving dislocation within matrix channel and the interfacial misfit dislocation networks on the two-phase interfaces in Ni-based single crystal superalloys are studied carefully via atomic modeling, with special focus on the factors influencing the critical bowing stress of moving dislocations in the matrix channel. The results show that the moving matrix dislocation type and its position with respect to the interfacial misfit dislocation segments have considerable influences on the interactions. If the moving matrix dislocation is pure screw, it reacts with the interfacial misfit dislocation segments toward dislocation linear energy reduction, which decreases the critical bowing stress of screw dislocation due to dislocation linear energy release during the dislocation reactions. If the moving matrix dislocation is of 60°-mixed type, it is obstructed by the interaction between the mixed matrix dislocations and the misfit interfacial dislocation segments. As a result, the critical bowing stress increases significantly because extra interactive energy needs to be overcome. These two different effects on the critical bowing stress become increasingly significant when the moving matrix dislocation is very close to the interfacial misfit dislocation segments. In addition, the matrix channel width also has a significant influence on the critical bowing stress, i.e. the narrower the matrix channel is, the higher the critical bowing stress is. The classical Orowan formula is modified to predict these effects on the critical bowing stress of moving matrix dislocation, which is in good agreement with the computational results. | Jun Xiong Yaxin Zhu Zhenhuan Li Minsheng Huang | 2017 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2017,30,4: | 1
Oral delivery of superoxide dismutase by lipid polymer hybrid nanoparticles for the treatment of ulcerative colitis显示文摘Protein-based drugs have received extensive attention in the field of drug research in recent years.However,protein-based drug activity is difficult to maintain during oral delivery, which limits its application. This study developed bifunctional oral lipid polymer hybrid nanoparticles(R8-PEG-PPNPs)that deliver superoxide dismutase(SOD)for the treatment of ulcerative colitis(UC).R8-PEG-PPNPs was composed of PCADK,PLGA,lecithin, and co-modified with stearic acid-octa-arginine and polyethylene glycol. The nanoparticles(NPs)are uniformly dispersed with a complete spherical structure. In vitro stability and release studies showed that R8-PEG-PPNPs exhibited good stability and protection. In vitro cell culture experiments demonstrated that R8-PEG-PPNPs as carriers have no significant toxic effects on cells at concentration below 1000µg/mL and promote cellular uptake. In experiments with ulcerative colitis mice,R8-PEG-PPNPs were able to enhance drug absorption by intestinal epithelial cells and accumulate effectively at the site of inflammation. Its therapeutic effect further demonstrates that R8-PEG-PPNPs are a promising delivery system for oral delivery of protein-based drugs. | Yaxin Cui Tianyu Zhu Xueyan Zhang Jicong Chen Fengying Sun Youxin Li Lesheng Teng | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,10: | 1
Ultrasonic Characteristics and Severity Assessment of Lung Ultrasound in COVID-19 Pneumonia:A Retrospective,Observational Study显示文摘The clinical application of lung ultrasound(LS)in the assessment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pneumonia severity remains limited,Herein,we investigated the role of LUS imaging in CoVID-19pneumonia patients and the relationship between LUS findings and disease severity. This was a retro-spective,observational study at Tongji Hospital,on 48 recruited patients with COVID-19 pneu-monia,including 32 non-critically ill patients and 16critically ill patients.LUS was performed and the respiratory rate oxygenation(ROX)index, disease severity, and confusion, blood urea nitrogen,respira-tory rate, blood pressure, and age(CURB-65)score were recorded on days 0-7,8-14,and 15-21 after symptomonset.Lung images were divided into 12 regions, and the luS score(0-36 points)was calcu-lated.hestcomputed tomography(CT)scores(0-20 points)were also recorded on days O-7.Coelations between the LUS score,ROX index, and CURB-65 scores were examined.LUS detected COVID-19 pneumonia in 38patients.LUS signs included B lines(34/38,89.5%),consolidations(6/38,15.8%),and pleural effusions(2/38,5.3%).Most cases showed more than one lesion(32/38,84.2%)and involved both lungs(28/38,73.7%).Compared with non-critically ill patients, the LUS scores of critically ill patients were higher(12(10-18)vs 2(0-5),p<0.001).The LUS score showed significant negative cor-relations with the ROX indexon days O-7(r=-0.85,p<0.001),days 8-14(r=-0.71,p<0.001),and days 15-21(r=-0.76,p<0.001)after symptom onset. However, the LUS score was positively correlated with the CT score(r=0.82,p<0.001).The number of patients with LUS-detected lesions decreased from 27 cases(81.8%)to 20 cases(46.5%),and the lus scores significantly decreased from 4(2-10)to 0(0-5),(p<0.001) from days O-7 to 17-21.We conclude that LUS can detect lunglesions in COVID-19 pneumo-nia patients in a portable,real-time,and safe manner. Thus,LUS is helpful in assessing COVID-19 pneu-monia severity in critically ill patients. | Fengxue Zhu Xiujuan Zhao Tianbing Wang Zhenzhou Wang Fuzheng Guo Haiyan Xue Panpan Chang Hansheng Liang Wentao Ni Yaxin Wang Lei Chen Baoguo Jiang | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,3: | 1
Recent advances in bismuth-based multimetal oxide photocatalysts for hydrogen production from water splitting:Competitiveness, challenges, and future perspectives显示文摘The efficient utilization of photocatalytic technology is essential for clean energy.Bismuth-based multimetal oxides(Bi_(2)WO_(6),Bi_(2)MoO_(6),BiVO_(4)and Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12))have aroused widespread attention as a visible light responsive photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution due to their low cost, nontoxicity, modifiable morphology, and outstanding optical and chemical properties.Nevertheless, the photocatalytic activities of pure materials are unsatisfactory because of their relative small specific surface area, poor quantum yield, and the rapid recombination of photogenerated carriers. Therefore, some modification strategies, including morphological control, semiconductor combination, doping, and defect engineering, have been systematically studied to enhance photocatalytic H_(2)evolution activity in the past few years.Herein,we summarize the recent research progress on bismuth-based photocatalysts, pointing out the prospects, opportunities and challenges of bismuth-based photocatalysts.Eventually,we aims to put forward valuable suggestions for designing of bismuth-based photocatalysts applied in hydrogen production on the premise of consolidating the existing theoretical basis of photocatalysis. | Zheng Zhu Shipeng Wan Yunxia Zhao Yaxin Gu Yaobin Wang Yong Qin Zhihui Zhang Xinlei Ge Qin Zhong Yunfei Bu | 2021 | Materials Reports(Energy)2021,1,2: | 1
Lipidomic analyses reveal enhanced lipolysis in planthoppers feeding on resistant host plants显示文摘The brown planthopper(BPH)(Nilaparvata lugens St?l)is a highly destructive pest that seriously damages rice(Oryza sativa L.)and causes severe yield losses. To better understand the physiological and metabolic mechanisms through which BPHs respond to resistant rice,we combined mass-spectrometry-based lipidomics with transcriptomic analysis and gene knockdown techniques to compare the lipidomes of BPHs feeding on either of the two resistant(NIL-Bph6 and NIL-Bph9)plants or a wild-type,BPH susceptible(9311)plant.Insects that were fed on resistant rice transformed triglyceride(TG)to phosphatidylcholine(PC)and digalactosyldiacylglycerol(DGDG),with these lipid classes showing significant alterations in fatty acid composition. Moreover, the insects that were fed on resistant rice were characterized by prominent expression changes in genes involved in lipid metabolism processes.Knockdown of the NlBmm gene, which encodes a lipase that regulates the mobilization of lipid reserves, significantly increased TG content and feeding performance of BPHs on resistant plants relative to dsGFP-injected BPHs.Our study provides the first detailed description of lipid changes in BPHs fed on resistant and susceptible rice genotypes. Results from BPHs fed on resistant rice plants reveal that these insects can accelerate TG mobilization to provide energy for cell proliferation, body maintenance, growth and oviposition. | Xiaohong Zheng Yeyun Xin Yaxin Peng Junhan Shan Ning Zhang Di Wu Jianping Guo Jin Huang Wei Guan Shaojie Shi Cong Zhou Rongzhi Chen Bo Du Lili Zhu Fang Yang Xiqin Fu Longping Yuan Guangcun He | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,9: | 1
