| 4 | Contemporary crustal deformation of the Chinese continent and tectonic block model显示文摘We obtain the preliminary result of crustal deformation velocity field for the Chinese con-tinent by analyzing GPS data from the Crustal Motion Observation Network of China (CMONOC), particularly the data from the regional networks of CMONOC observed in 1999 and 2001. We de-lineate 9 tectonically active blocks and 2 broadly distributed deformation zones out of a denseGPS velocity field, and derive block motion Euler poles for the blocks and their relative motionrates. Our result reveals that there are 3 categories of deformation patterns in the Chinese conti-nent. The first category, associated with the interior of the Tibetan Plateau and the Tianshan oro-genic belt, shows broadly distributed deformation within the regions. The third category, associatedwith the Tarim Basin and the region east of the north-south seismic belt of China, shows block-likemotion, with deformation accommodated along the block boundaries only. The second category, mainly associated with the borderland of the Tibetan Plateau, such as the Qaidam, Qilian, Xining(in eastern Qinghai), and the Diamond-shaped (in western Sichuan and Yunnan) blocks, has thedeformation pattern between the first and the third, i.e. these regions appear to deform block-like,but with smaller sizes and less strength for the blocks. Based on the analysis of the lithosphericstructures and the deformation patterns of the regions above, we come to the inference that thedeformation modes of the Chinese continental crust are mainly controlled by the crustal structure.The crust of the eastern China and the Tarim Basin is mechanically strong, and its deformationtakes the form of relative motion between rigid blocks. On the other hand, the northward indentation of the Indian plate into the Asia continent has created the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the Tianshan Mountains, thickened their crust, and raised the temperature in the crust. The lower crust thus has become ductile, evidenced in low seismic velocity and high electric conductivity observed. The brittle part of the crust, driven by the visco-plastic flow of the lower crust, deforms extensively at all scales. The regions of the second category located at the borderland of the Tibetan Plateau are at the transition zone between the regions of the first and the third categories in terms of the crustal structure. | 5 | Prognostic value of systemic immune.inflammation index in patients with gastric cancer显示文摘Background:Inflammation-based indexes have been used to predict survival and recurrence in cancer patients.Systemic immune-inflammation index(Sll) was reported to be associated with prognosis in some malignant tumors.In the present study,we aimed to explore the association between Sll and the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed data from 444 gastric cancer patients who underwent gastrectomy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University between January 1994 and December 2005.Preoperative Sll was calculated.The Chi square test or Fisher's exact test was used to determine the relationship between preoperative Sll and clinicopathologic characteristics.Overall survival(OS) rates were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method,and the effect of Sll on OS was analyzed using the Cox proportional hazards model.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were used to compare the predictive ability of Sll,NLR,and PLR.Results:Sll equal to or higher than 660 was significantly associated with old age,large tumor size,unfavorable Borrmann classification,advanced tumor invasion,lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis,advanced TNM stage,and high carcino-embryonic antigen level,high neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio,and high platelet-lymphocyte ratio(all P<0.05).High Sll was significantly associated with unfavorable prognosis(P<0.001) and Sll was an independent predictor for OS(P=0.015).Subgroups analysis further showed significant associations between high Sll and short OS in stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ subgroups(all P<0.05).Sll was superior to NLR and PLR for predicting OS in patients with gastric cancer.Conclusion:Preoperative Sll level is an independent prognostic factor for OS in patients with gastric cancer. | Kang Wang Feiyu Diao Zhijun Ye Xinhua Zhang Ertao Zhai Hui Ren Tong Li Hui Wu Yulong He Shirong Cai Jianhui Chen | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2017,36,9: | 30 |
| 6 | Efficacy and safety of Xinfeng capsule in patients with rheumatoid arthritis:a multi-center parallel-group double-blind randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xinfeng capsule in patients suffering rheumatoid arthritis(RA).METHODS:A multi-center parallel-group designed,double-blind,randomized,controlled trial was conducted.Totally 304 RA patients were assigned to two groups:one group was administered Xinfeng capsule(XFC) plus the placebo of leflunomide and the other given leflunomide(LEF) plus the placebo of XFC for twelve weeks.The clinical and laboratory parameters were compared at baseline and fourth,eighth,and twelfth weeks.RESULTS:After twelve-week treatment,patients in two groups all showed some trend of effectiveness when compared in terms of American Rheumatism Association(ACR) recommended 20%,50%,70%improvement criteria,but it was insignificant.The validity in ameliorate modified disease activity score(DAS28) and laboratory indexes as erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP),rheumatoid factor(RF) were also found no difference.The score of health assessment questionnaire(HAQ),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS) and quality of life questionnaire with rheumatoid arthritis(RAQOL)both lower than the first week and the changes showed no difference.However,the score of SDS dropped more in XFC group than in the other.A total of 147 adverse reaction cases were reported,which shows no difference between the two groups.The most common adverse reactions were hepatic impairment,anemia,leukocytopenia,epigastric discomfort and phalacrosis.CONCLUSION:XFC demonstrated better improvement in the scores of SDS and compared with those of LEF group. | Liu Jian Wang Yuan Huang Chuanbing Xu Jianhua Li Zhijun Xu Liang He Liyun Sun Yue Wang Yali Xu Shengqian Zhao Ping Mao Tongjun Tan Bin Zhu Fubing Zhang Pingheng Fang Li | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,5: | 27 |
| 7 | Identification of a Stable Quantitative Trait Locus for Percentage Grains with White Chalkiness in Rice (Oryza sativa)显示文摘High chalkiness is a major problem in many rice-producing areas of the world, especially in hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.) in China. We previously showed a major quantitative trait locus for the percentage of grains with white chalkiness (QTLqPGWC-8) in the interval G1149-R727 on chromosome 8 using a chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL). Here, we selected the line-CSSL50 harboring the QTLqPGWC-8 allele from the CSSLs derived from a cross between Asominori (as a recurrent parent) and IR24 (as a donor parent), which had higher percentage chalkiness, markedly different from that of Asominori. There were also significant differences in starch granules, appearance of amylose content (AAC) and milling qualities between Asominori and CSSL50, but not in grain size or thousand grain weight (TGW). The BC4F2 and BC4F3 populations from a cross between CSSL50 and Asominori were used for fine mapping of qPGWC-8. We narrowed down the location of this QTL to a 142 kb region between Indel markers 8G-7 and 8G-9. QTLqPGWC-8 accounted for 50.9% of the difference in PGWC between the parents. | 9 | Recent advances in the precise control of isolated single-site catalysts by chemical methods显示文摘The search for constructing high-performance catalysts is an unfailing topic in chemical fields. Recently, we have witnessed many breakthroughs in the synthesis of single-atom catalysts(SACs) and their applications in catalytic systems. They have shown excellent activity, selectivity, stability, efficient atom utilization and can serve as an efficient bridge between homogeneous and heterogenous catalysis. Currently, most SACs are synthesized via a bottom-up strategy; however, drawbacks such as the difficulty in accessing high mass activity and controlling homogeneous coordination environments are inevitably encountered, restricting their potential use in the industrial area. In this regard, a novel top-down strategy has been recently developed to fabricate SACs to address these practical issues. The metal loading can be increased to 5% and the coordination environments can also be precisely controlled. This review highlights approaches to the chemical synthesis of SACs towards diverse chemical reactions, especially the recent advances in improving the mass activity and well-defined local structures of SACs. | 11 | Heat and power load dispatching considering energy storage of district heating system and electric boilers显示文摘As one of promising clean and low-emission energy, wind power is being rapidly developed in China.However, it faces serious problem of wind curtailment,particularly in northeast China, where combined heat and power(CHP) units cover a large proportion of the district heat supply. Due to the inherent strong coupling between the power and the heat load, the operational flexibility of CHP units is severely restricted in winter to meet the heat supply demand, which imparts considerable stress on the wind power connection to the grid. To promote the integration of wind power and enhance the flexibility of CHP units, this paper presented a method of heat and power load dispatching by exploring the energy storage ability of electric heating boilers and district heating systems. The optimization results indicate that the proposed method can integrate additional wind power into the grid and reduce the coal consumption of CHP units over the optimized period. | 13 | Preparation and luminescence characteristics of Sr_3SiO_5:Eu^(2+) phosphor for white LED显示文摘The Sr3SiO5:Eu2+ phosphor was synthesized by high temperature solid-state reaction. The emission spectrum of Sr3SiO5:Eu2+ shows two bands centered at 487 and 575 nm, which well agree with the theoretic values of emission spectrum. The excitation spectrum for 575 nm emission center has several excitation bands at 365, 418, 458 and 473 nm. And the results show that the emission spectrum of Sr3SiO5:Eu2+ is influenced by the Eu2+ concentration. The relative emission spectra of the white-emitting InGaN-based YAG:Ce3+ LED and Sr3SiO5:Eu2+ LED were investigated. | 14 | Disentangling the effects of topography and space on the distributions of dominant species in a subtropical forest显示文摘Topography and space are two important factors determining plant species assemblages in forest communities.Quantification of the contribution of these two factors in determining species distribution helps us to evaluate their relative importance in determining species assemblages.This study aims to disentangle the effect of topography and space on the distributions of 14 dominant species in a subtropical mixed forest.Spearman correlation analysis and the torustranslation test were used to test the species–habitat associations.Variation partitioning was used to quantify the relative contributions of topography and space at three sampling scales and three life stages.Correlation analyses and torus-translation tests showed species abundance was mostly correlated with topographic wetness index,vertical distance from the channel network and convexity.Variation partitioning showed that pure topography,pure space and spatially structured topography explained about 2.1 %,41.2 % and 13.8 %of the variation in species distributions,respectively.For nine species,total topography fractions peaked in 20 m quadrats.For ten species,the pure space fractions peaked in 50 m quadrats.For many species,the total topography fraction andthe pure space fraction were larger for the most abundant life stages,which reflected the importance of sampling effect.However,some cases did not follow this trend suggesting that the effects of ecological processes such as habitat filtering,density dependence or dispersal limitation may exceed the sampling effects.In conclusion,we found that spatially structured topography and pure space primarily shaped the distribution of dominant tree species.Furthermore,their effects were both scale- and life stage-dependent. | Qinggang Wang Yaozhan Xu Zhijun Lu Dachuan Bao Yili Guo Junmeng Lu Kuihan Zhang Haibo Liu Hongjie Meng Xiujuan Qiao Handong Huang Mingxi Jiang | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,35: | 16 |

| 16 | Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine preparations in patients with chronic heart failure:a prospective,single-blind,randomized,controlled,and multicenter clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF) of Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) preparations.METHODS: This prospective, single-blind, randomized, controlled, and multicenter clinical trial began on September 17, 2008, and was completed on June 25, 2011. A total of 340 inpatients, aged 40-79 years, with exacerbating CHF from 10 hospitals were enrolled and randomly allocated within 24 h of admission. The trial included three intervention periods. During hospitalization, the control group received western medication for CHF and the treatment group received Danhong injection with Shenfu injection or Shenmai injection. After discharge,all patients were treated with Qiliqiangxin capsules and Buyiqiangxin tablets or a placebo for 6 months. After the 6-month intervention, both groups received only continuous western medication. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality.The efficacy assessments were as follows: B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP), Lee's HF score, the 6-minute walking test(6 MWT), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire(MLHFQ). The safety assessments were as follows: blood and urine routine examination, hepatic and renal function, electrolytes in blood and adverse events.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed a 30.99% reduction in all-cause mortality and an improved survival rate.The treatment group showed greater improvement in 6 MWT(P = 0.02) than the control group on discharge, after 12-month follow-up, there was a time-group interaction for MLHFQ(P = 0.03). | 18 | Original position statistic distribution analysis study of low alloy steel continuous casting billet显示文摘The homogeneity of low alloy steels continuous casting billet obtained under different technological conditions has been investigated by original position statistic distribution analysis technique. On the basis of systematic analysis of ten thousands primary optical signals at the corresponding original positions, the quantitative statistic distribution information of each element was obtained. The biggest degrees of segregation of low alloy steel continuous casting billet were calculated accurately according to the quantitative distribution maps of the contents. It was suggested that the weight ratio in a certain content range was used to judge the homogeneity of the materials, and the two models —— the total weight ratio of contents (the degree of statistic homogeneity, H) within the permissive content range (C0±R) and the median value confidence extension ratio (the degree of statistic segregation, S) at 95% of confidence limit of weight ratio —— were put forward. The two models reflect the composition and state distribution regularity of the metal materials in a large region. | 19 | Density dependence and habitat preference shape seedling survival in a subtropical forest in central China显示文摘Aims seedlings are vulnerable to many kinds of fatal abiotic and biotic agents,and examining the causes of seedling dynamics can help understand mechanisms of species coexistence.To disentangle the relative importance of neighborhood densities,habitat factors and phylogenetic relatedness on focal seedling survival,we monitored the survival of 5306 seedlings of 104 species>15 months.We address the following questions:(i)How do neighborhood densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness affect seedling survival?What is the relative importance of conspecific densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness to seedling survival?(ii)Does the importance of the neighborhood densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness vary among growth forms,leaf habits or dispersal modes?specially,does the conspecific negative density dependence inhibit tree and decidu-ous seedlings more compared with shrub and evergreen species?Does density dependence affect the wind and animal-dispersed species equally?Methods We established 135 census stations to monitor seedling dynamics in a 25-ha subtropical forest plot in central China.Conspecific and heterospecific seedling density in the 1-m2 seedling plot and adult basal area within a 20-m radius provided neighborhood density var-iables.mean elevation,convexity and aspect of every 5-×5-m grid with seedling plots were used to quantify habitat characteristics.We calculated the relative average phylodiversity between focal seed-ling and heterospecific neighbors to quantify the species related-ness in the neighborhood.Eight candidate generalized linear mixed models with binominal error distribution were used to compare the relative importance of these variables to seedling survival.akaike’s information criteria were used to identify the most parsimonious models.Important Findingsat the community level,both the neighborhood densities and phylogenetic relatedness were important to seedling survival.We found negative effects of increasing conspecific seedlings,which suggested the existence of species-specific density-dependent mortality.Phylodiversity of heterospecific neighbors was negatively related to survival of focal seedlings,indicating similar habitat preference shared among phylogenetically closely related species may drive seedling survival.The relative importance of neighborhood densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness varied among ecological guilds.Conspecific densities had significant negative effect for deciduous and wind-dispersed species,and marginally significant for tree seedlings>10 cm tall and animal-dispersed species.Habitat variables had limited effects on seedling survival,and only elevation was related to the sur-vival of evergreen species in the best-fit model.We conclude that both negative density-dependent mortality and habitat preference reflected by the phylogenetic relatedness shape the species coex-istence at seedling stage in this forest. | Junmeng Lu Daniel J.Johnson Xiujuan Qiao Zhijun Lu Qinggang Wang Mingxi Jiang | 2015 | Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,6: | 12 |
| 20 | The Xiamaling oil shale generated through Rhodophyta over 800 Ma ago显示文摘A suit of oil shales, predominated by black argillaceous silicalite and finely laminated black-brown shale, has been discovered in a set of carbonaceous-siliceous mudstone formations (350 m in thickness) in the third member of Xiamaling Formation of the Upper Proterozoic Qingbaikou Series (900―873 MaBP), Xiahuayuan, Hebei Province, China. The oil shale, combustible with strong bitumen odour, has su- per-high TOC contents ranging from 21.4% to 22.9%, bitumen “A” contents from 0.58% to 0.88% and oil length from 5.29% to 10.57%. The ultrathin section observation of the shale and the identification of its kerogen demonstrate that its hydrocarbon-generative parent material is mainly benthonic Rhodophyta whose specific tetrasporangia are legible and abundant. It is rarely reported in the literature that such a hydrocarbon-generative parent material, composed mainly of Rhodophyta and with extraordinarily high contents of TOC and bitumen “A”, developed into a set of high-quality source rocks. The extracts of the oil shale are characteristic of richness in 17α(H)-diahopanes and n-alkyl tricyclic terpenoids but low in steranes. Such a biomarker feature is obviously different from that of the extracts from other Proterozoic marine carbonate source rocks of the studied area. Since the biological constitution of this oil shale is rather simple, it is clear that these biomarkers most likely represent to certain extent the specific mo- lecular constitutions of the benthonic Rhodophyta identified in the ultrathin sections of the samples. Studies on its lithologic association and depositional sequences suggest that this suit of the carbona- ceous-siliceous mudstone formation, which contains oil shales, was probably developed in an under- compensation deep-bay environment when a maximum transgression occurred during the formation of the third member of Xiamaling Formation.
