3Evaluation of characteristics of left-sided colorectal perfusion in elderly patients by angiography显示文摘BACKGROUND Handling of the inferior mesenteric artery(IMA)and maintaining anastomotic perfusion are important in radical resection of left-sided colorectal cancer.However,the branching of this artery and the drainage patterns of this vein vary among individuals,and the characteristics and perfusion region of this artery in elderly patients remain unclear.AIM To evaluate the characteristics and perfusion region of the IMA in elderly patients using angiography.METHODS We enrolled 154 patients(>65 years old)who underwent digital subtraction angiography of the IMA.The characteristics,bifurcation,and distribution of the IMA and termination of the anastomotic perfusion of the left colon and rectum were examined using digital subtraction angiography.Collateral arterial arches and the IMA hemoperfusion region were also recorded.Perfusion regions were cross-referenced with clinical and anatomical features by the univariate analysis.RESULTS Of 154 patients,25(16.2%)had IMA lesions.The left colic artery arose independently from the IMA in 44.2%of patients,shared a trunk with the sigmoid artery in 35.1%,shared an opening with the sigmoid and superior rectal arteries in 16.9%,and was absent in 5.1%.The IMA perfusion region stopped at the splenic flexure in 50(32.5%)patients.The collateral circulation existed in the colonic perfusion region,including the marginal artery(Drummond’s artery),the ascending branch of the left colonic artery to supply the transverse colon,and the arc of Riolan with a frequency of 100%,22.7%,and 1.9%,respectively.The IMA perfusion region was independently associated with the comorbidity of atherosclerosis,IMA atherosclerotic lesion,branching pattern,collateral circulation,and marginal artery integrity.CONCLUSION The IMA and its branches are prone to arteriosclerosis,and IMA perfusion may be interrupted at the splenic flexure in elderly patients.The applicability and precision of preoperative angiography for evaluating the IMA branching and perfusion patterns could facilitate geriatric laparoscopic left-sided colorectal cancer surgery with suspicion of poor IMA perfusion.Chao Zhang Ang Li Tao Luo Yu Li Fei Li Jia Li 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,24:7

5Discovering Overlapping Communities by Clustering Local Link Structures显示文摘Recent advances point out that the existing community detection methods commonly face two challenges:incorrect base-structures and incorrect membership of weak-ties.To overcome both problems,a Local link structure(LLS) clustering based method for overlapping community detection is proposed.We extend the similarity of a pair of links to a group of links named LLS,and thus transform mining LLSs as a pattern mining problem.We prove that LLS with an appropriate threshold can filter weak-ties in the form of bridge and local bridge with its span being larger than 3.A compositive framework is presented for overlapping community detection based on LLS mining and clustering.Comparative experiments on both synthetical and real-world networks demonstrate that our method has advantage over six existing methods on discovering higher quality communities.TAO Haicheng WANG Youquan WU Zhi'ang BU Zhan CAO Jie 2017Chinese Journal of Electronics2017,26,2:3
6Multicenter randomised controlled trial comparing the high definition white light endoscopy and the bright narrow band imaging for colon polyps显示文摘AIM To compare high definition white light endoscopy and bright narrow band imaging for colon polyps' detection rates. METHODS Patients were randomised to high definition white light endoscopy(HD-WLE) or the bright narrow band imaging(b NBI) during withdrawal of the colonoscope. Polyps identified in either mode were characterised using b NBI with dual focus(b NBI-DF) according to the Sano's classification. The primary outcome was to compare adenoma detection rates(ADRs) between the two arms. The secondary outcome was to assess the negative predictive value(NPV) in differentiating adenomas from hyperplastic polyps for diminutive rectosigmoid lesions.RESULTS A total of 1006 patients were randomised to HD-WLE(n = 511) or b NBI(n = 495). The mean of adenoma per patient was 1.62 and 1.84, respectively. The ADRs in b NBI and HD-WLE group were 37.4% and 39.3%, respectively. When adjusted for withdrawal time(OR = 1.19, 95%CI: 1.15-1.24, P < 0.001), the use of b NBI was associated with a reduced ADR(OR = 0.69, 95%CI: 0.52-0.92). Nine hundred and thirty three polyps(86%) in both arms were predicted with high confidence. The sensitivity(Sn), specificity(Sp), positive predictive value and NPV in differentiating adenomatous from non-adenomatous polyps of all sizes were 95.9%, 87.2%, 94.0% and 91.1% respectively. 7Parallel implementation of w-projection wide-field imaging显示文摘w-Projection is a wide-field imaging technique that is widely used in radio synthesis arrays. Processing the wide-field big data generated by the future Square Kilometre Array(SKA) will require significant updates to current methods to significantly reduce the time consumed on data processing. Data loading and gridding are found to be two major time-consuming tasks in w-projection. In this paper, we investigate two parallel methods of accelerating w-projection processing on multiple nodes: the hybrid Message Passing Interface(MPI) and Open Multi-Processing(OpenMP) method based on multicore Central Processing Units(CPUs) and the hybrid MPI and Compute Unified Device Architecture(CUDA)method based on Graphics Processing Units(GPUs). Both methods are successfully employed and operated in various computational environments, confirming their robustness. The experimental results show that the total runtime of both MPI + OpenMP and MPI + CUDA methods is significantly shorter than that of single-thread processing. MPI + CUDA generally shows faster performance when running on multiple nodes than MPI + OpenMP, especially on large numbers of nodes. The single-precision GPU-based processing yields faster computation than the double-precision processing; while the single-and doubleprecision CPU-based processing shows consistent computational performance. The gridding time remarkably increases when the support size of the convolution kernel is larger than 8 and the image size is larger than 2,048 pixels. 8Biologically Inspired Design of Context-Aware Smart Products显示文摘The rapid development of information and communication technologies(ICTs)and cyber-physical systems(CPSs)has paved the way for the increasing popularity of smart products.Context-awareness is an important facet of product smartness.Unlike artifacts,various bio-systems are naturally characterized by their extraordinary context-awareness.Biologically inspired design(BID)is one of the most commonly employed design strategies.However,few studies have examined the BID of context-aware smart products to date.This paper presents a structured design framework to support the BID of context-aware smart products.The meaning of context-awareness is defined from the perspective of product design.The framework is developed based on the theoretical foundations of the situated function-behavior-structure ontology.A structured design process is prescribed to leverage various biological inspirations in order to support different conceptual design activities,such as problem formulation,structure reformulation,behavior reformulation,and function reformulation.Some existing design methods and emerging design tools are incorporated into the framework.A case study is presented to showcase how this framework can be followed to redesign a robot vacuum cleaner and make it more context-aware.Ang Liu Ivan Teo Diandi Chen Stephen Lu Thorsten Wuest Zhinan Zhang Fei Tao 2019Engineering2019,5,4:2

10Rational integration of defense and repair synergy on PEEK osteoimplants via biomimetic peptide clicking strategy显示文摘Polyetheretherketone(PEEK)has been widely used as orthopedic and dental materials due to excellent mechanical and physicochemical tolerance.However,its biological inertness,poor osteoinduction,and weak antibacterial activity make the clinical applications in a dilemma.Inspired by the mussel adhesion mechanism,here we reported a biomimetic surface strategy for rational integration and optimization of anti-infectivity and osteo-inductivity onto PEEK surfaces using a mussel foot proteins(Mfps)-mimic peptide with clickable azido terminal.The peptide enables mussel-like adhesion on PEEK biomaterial surfaces,leaving azido groups for the further steps of biofunctionalizations.In this study,antimicrobial peptide(AMP)and osteogenic growth peptide(OGP)were bioorthogonally clicked on the azido-modified PEEK biomaterials to obtain a dual-effect of host defense and tissue repair.Since bioorthogonal clicking allows precise collocation between AMP and OGP through changing their feeding molar ratios,an optimal PEEK surface was finally obtained in this research,which could long-term inhibit bacterial growth,stabilize bone homeostasis and facilitate interfacial bone regeneration.In a word,this upgraded mussel surface strategy proposed in this study is promising for the surface bioengineering of inert medical implants,in particular,achieving rational integration of multiple biofunctions to match clinical requirements.Meng Li Jiaxiang Bai Huaqiang Tao Li Hao Weiling Yin Xiaoxue Ren Ang Gao Ning Li Miao Wang Shiyuan Fang Yaozeng Xu Liang Chen Huilin Yang Huaiyu Wang Guoqing Pan Dechun Geng 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,2:2

13Dysregulation of PARP1 is involved in development of Barrett's esophagus显示文摘AIM To investigate the potential role of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1(PARP1) in the development of Barrett's esophagus(BE).METHODS A BE mouse model was established to examine the esophageal morphological changes and molecular changes. Microarray analysis was performed to compare the gene expression profiles between BE patients and healthy controls. q PCR was used to examine the PARP1 expression in cell lines after treatment with H_2O_2 and bile acids(p H 4). Immunofluorescence staining, comet assay, and annexin V staining were used to evaluate the impact of PARP1 activity on cell survival and DNA damage response after oxidative stress.RESULTS The gene expression profile in normal and BE esophageal epithelial cells showed that PARP1, the major poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, was overexpressed in BE. In the mouse model of BE, positive staining for NF-κB, γH2 AX, and poly(ADP-ribose)(PAR) was observed. H_2O_2 and bile acids(p H 4) increased the PARP1 m RNA expression level in normal esophageal epithelial cells. Using sh RNA-PARP1 to suppress PARP1 activity decreased the cell viability after treatment with H_2O_2 and bile acids(p H 4), and increased the oxidative damage as demonstrated by an increase in the levels of H_2O_2 , intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS), oxidative DNA damage, double-strand breaks, and apoptosis(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION The dysfunction of PARP1 in esophageal epithelial cells increases the levels of ROS and oxidative DNA damage, which could be common risk factors for BE and esophageal adenocarcinoma.Chao Zhang Teng Ma Tao Luo Ang Li Xiang Gao Zhong-Gao Wang Fei Li 2018World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,9:1

16Atomic origin of magnetic coupling of antiphase boundaries in magnetite thin films显示文摘Revealing the magnetic coupling nature of boundary defects is crucial for in-depth understanding of the behavior and properties of magnetic materials and devices.Here,magnetite(i.e.,Fe_(3)O_(4))thin films were grown epitaxially on(100)SrTiOsingle-crystal substrates by pulsed laser deposition.Atomic-scale scanning transmission electron microscopy characterizations reveal that three types of antiphase boundaries(APBs)are formed in the Fe_(3)O_(4)thin film.They are the(100)APB that is formed on the(100)plane with a crystal translation of(1/4)a[011^(-)],the typeⅠand typeⅡ(110)APBs that are both formed on the(110)plane with the same crystal translation of(1/4)a[101]but different terminated atomic planes.The typeⅠ(110)APB is terminated at the atomic plane with mixed tetrahedral-and octahedral-sites Fe atoms,the typeⅡ(110)APB is terminated at the octahedral-site Fe plane.First-principles calculations reveal that the(100)APB and the typeⅠ(110)APB tend to form the ferromagnetic coupling that will not decrease the spin polarization of Fe_(3)O_(4)films,while the typeⅡ(110)APB prefers to form the antiferromagnetic coupling that will degrade the magnetic properties.The magnetic coupling modes of the APBs are closely related to the Fe-O-Fe bond angles across the boundaries.Chunyang Gao Yixiao Jiang Tingting Yao Ang Tao Xuexi Yan Xiang Li Chunlin Chen Xiu-Liang Ma Hengqiang Ye 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,12:1

19Expert consensus on prevention and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for cardiac arrest in COVID-19显示文摘Background:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)strategies in COVID-19 patients differ from those in patients suffering from cardiogenic cardiac arrest.During CPR,both healthcare and non-healthcare workers who provide resuscitation are at risk of infection.The Working Group for Expert Consensus on Prevention and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Cardiac Arrest in COVID-19 has developed this Chinese Expert Consensus to guide clinical practice of CPR in COVID-19 patients.Main recommendations:1)A medical team should be assigned to evaluate severe and critical COVID-19 for early monitoring of cardiac-arrest warning signs.2)Psychological counseling and treatment are highly recommended,since sympathetic and vagal abnormalities induced by psychological stress from the COVID-19 pandemic can induce cardiac arrest.3)Healthcare workers should wear personal protective equipment(PPE).4)Mouth-to-mouth ventilation should be avoided on patients suspected of having or diagnosed with COVID-19.5)Hands-only chest compression and mechanical chest compression are recommended.6)Tracheal-intubation procedures should be optimized and tracheal-intubation strategies should be implemented early.7)CPR should be provided for 20-30 min.8)Various factors should be taken into consideration such as the interests of patients and family members,ethics,transmission risks,and laws and regulations governing infectious disease control.Changes in management:The following changes or modifications to CPR strategy in COVID-19 patients are proposed:1)Healthcare workers should wear PPE.2)Hands-only chest compression and mechanical chest compression can be implemented to reduce or avoid the spread of viruses by aerosols.3)Both the benefits to patients and the risk of infection should be considered.4)Hhealthcare workers should be fully aware of and trained in CPR strategies and procedures specifically for patients with COVID-19.Wei Song Jie Wei Xiangdong Jian Deren Wang Yanhong Ouyang Yuanshui Liu Xianjin Du Ying Chen Yingqi Zhang Heping Xu Shuming Xianyu Qiong Ning Xiang Li Xiaotong Han Feng Zhan Tao Yu Wenteng Chen Jun Zhang Wenwei Cai Sheng’ang Zhou Shengyang Yi Yu Cao Xiaobei Chen Shunjiang Xu Zong’an Liang Duohu Wu Fen Ai Zhong Wang Qingyi Meng Yuhong Mi Sisen Zhang Rongjia Yang Shouchun Yan Wenbin Han Yong Lin Chuanyun Qian Wenwu Zhang Yan Xiong Jun Lv Baochi Liu Yan Cao Xiaojun He Xuelian Sun Yufang Cao Tian’en Zhou 2021Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2021,14,6:0
