1Hydrogen evolution and electromigration in the corrosion of aluminium metal sheath inside high‐voltage cables显示文摘The urgent need for power transmission is the reason for leading research on the safer operation of high‐voltage cables.These high‐voltage cables are emerging as an efficient technology for underground power transmission.However,the electrochemical corrosion of aluminium(Al)metal sheaths in these cables is a common and challenging degradation process.Herein,the corrosion mechanisms and electrochemical analysis are investigated by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and laboratory‐designed electro-chemical characterisation techniques.In the corrosion experiments,the authors evaluated the corrosion rate by measuring the release rate of hydrogen gas and explored the different roles of sodium polyacrylate(NaPA)during the corrosion process.It is found that the complexation reactions between NaPA and Al inhibited corrosion while increased the resistance of the buffer layer.The proposed mechanisms of corrosion in this study can improve the lifespan and sustainability of high‐voltage power transmission.Yidong Chen Kai Zhou Jiamin Kong Shakeel Akram Xiancheng Ren Xiaoshan Zhang Yuan Li Qi Zhao 2022High Voltage2022,7,2:7
2Clinicopathological analysis of metaplastic meningioma: report of 15 cases in Huashan Hospital显示文摘Objective: Metaplastic meningioma is a rare subtype of benign meningiomas, classified as WHO grade I with well prognosis. Here we presented our experiences on 15 cases of metaplastic meningioma, to investigate the clinicopathological features, therapies and prognosis of these cases. Methods: 15 patients underwent surgical treatment for intracranial metaplastic meningioma between 2001 and 2010 at Neurosurgery Department of Huashan Hospital, Shanghai, China. The clinical data, radiological manifestation, treatment strategy, pathological findings and prognosis of all patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Among the 15 cases (10 males and 5 females), the age ranged from 22 to 74 years old (the mean age was 50.67-year old). The clinical manifestations include headache, dizziness, seizure attack, vision decrease, and weakness of bilateral lower limbs. All the patients received surgical treatment, combined with radiotherapy in some cases. In the follow-up period, recurrence occurred in 2 cases, of which 1 patient died of other system complications. Conclusions: Metaplastic meningiomas are characterized by focal or widespread mesenchymal differentiation with formation of bone, cartilage, fat, and xanthomatous tissue elements. Surgical removal is the optimal therapy, and the overall prognosis is well. 3Estimation of Potential Risk of Reservoir-Induced Earthquake for the Proposed Hydroelectric Project on the Yangtze Gorges显示文摘The proposed hydroelectric project on the Yangtze Gorges will be one of the largest power stations in the world.The problem of induced seismicity to the project has attracted much attention throughout China and the world.A research program has been carried out by the State Seismological Bureau of China.Based on the size of the reservoir and the lithology,geological structure,permeability,stress state,and previous seismicity in the region,the potential risk of reservoir-induced seismicity has been estimated.The results suggest that,after impoundment in the reservoir area,the possibility of induced seismicity cannot be completely ruled out.The areas with potential risk may be in some gorges composed of karstified carbonate and plutonic granite around the dam site.However,the magnitude is expected to be limited owing to the small dimension of the induced seismogenic faults.Hu Yuliang,Zhao Meng,Hu Ping,Ma Wentao,Yang Qingyuan,and Chen Xiancheng Institute of Geology,State Seismological Bureau,Beijing 100029,China 1995Earthquake Research in China1995,9,4:4

5Application of CUSA Excel ultrasonic aspiration system in resection of skull base meningiomas显示文摘Background: Effective methods for managing patients with solitary pulmonary nodules(SPNs) depend critically on the predictive probability of malignancy.Methods: Between July 2009 and June 2011, data on gender, age, cancer history, tumor familial history, smoking status, tumor location, nodule size, spiculation, calcification, the tumor border, and the final pathological diagnosis were collected retrospectively from 154 surgical patients with an SPN measuring 3-30 mm. Each final diagnosis was compared with the probability calculated by three predicted models—the Mayo, VA, and Peking University(PU) models. The accuracy of each model was assessed using area under the receiver operating characteristics(ROC) and calibration curves.Results: The area under the ROC curve of the PU model [0.800; 95% confidence interval(CI): 0.708-0.891] was higher than that of the Mayo model(0.753; 95% CI: 0.650-0.857) or VA model(0.728; 95% CI: 0.623-0.833); however, this finding was not statistically significant. To varying degrees, calibration curves showed that all three models overestimated malignancy.Conclusions: The three predicted models have similar accuracy for prediction of SPN malignancy, although the accuracy is not sufficient. For Chinese patients, the PU model may has greater predictive power.Background: Here, we introduced our short experience on the application of a new CUSA Excel ultrasonic aspiration system, which was provided by Integra Lifesciences corporation, in skull base meningiomas resection.Methods: Ten patients with anterior, middle skull base and sphenoid ridge meningioma were operated using the CUSA Excel ultrasonic aspiration system at the Neurosurgery Department of Shanghai Huashan Hospital from August 2014 to October 2014. There were six male and four female patients, aged from 38 to 61 years old(the mean age was 48.5 years old). Five cases with tumor located at anterior skull base, three cases with tumor on middle skull base, and two cases with tumor on sphenoid ridge.Results: All the patents received total resection of meningiomas with the help of this new tool, and the critical brain vessels and nerves were preserved during operations. All the patients recovered well after operation.Conclusions: This new CUSA Excel ultrasonic aspiration system has the advantage of preserving vital brain arteries and cranial nerves during skull base meningioma resection, which is very important for skull base tumor operations. This key step would ensure a well prognosis for patients. We hope the neurosurgeons would benefit from this kind of technique.Background: The purposes of this study were to explore the effects of high mobility group protein box 1(HMGB1) gene on the growth, proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis of glioma cells, with an attempt to provide potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of glioma. Methods: The expressions of HMGB1 in glioma cells(U251, U-87 MG and LN-18) and one control cell line(SVG p12) were detected by real time PCR and Western blotting, respectively. Then, the effects of HMGB1 on the biological behaviors of glioma cells were detected: the expression of HMGB1 in human glioma cell lines U251 and U-87 MG were suppressed using RNAi technique, then the influences of HMGB1 on the viability, cycle, apoptosis, and invasion abilities of U251 and U-87 MG cells were analyzed using in a Transwell invasion chamber. Also, the effects of HMGB1 on the expressions of cyclin D1, Bax, Bcl-2, and MMP 9 were detected. Results: As shown by real-time PCR and Western blotting, the expression of HMGB1 significantly increased in glioma cells(U251, U-87 MG, and LN-18) in comparison with the control cell line(SVG p12); the vitality, proliferation and invasive capabilities of U251 and U-87 MG cells in the HMGB1 siR NA-transfected group were significantly lower than those in the blank control group and negative control(NC) siR NA group(P<0.05) but showed no significant difference between the blank control group and NC siR NA group. The percentage of apoptotic U251 and U-87 MG cells was significantly higher in the HMGB1 siR NA-transfected group than in the blank control group and NC siR NA group(P<0.05) but was similar between the latter two groups. The HMGB1 siR NA-transfected group had significantly lower expression levels of Cyclin D1, Bcl-2, and MMP-9 protein in U251 and U-87 MG cells and significantly higher expression of Bax protein than in the blank control group and NC siR NA group(P<0.05); the expression profiles of cyclin D1, Bax, Bcl-2, and MMP 9 showed no significant change in both blank control group and NC siR NA group. Conclusions: HMGB1 gene may promote the proliferation and migration of glioma cells and suppress its effects of apoptosis. Inhibition of the expression of HMGB1 gene can suppress the proliferation and migration of glioma cells and promote their apoptosis. 6Intraoperative ultrasound assistance in resection of intracranial meningiomas显示文摘Objective: Intracranial meningiomas, especially those located at anterior and middle skull base, are difficult to be completely resected due to their complicated anatomy structures and adjacent vessels. It's essential to locate the tumor and its vessels precisely during operation to reduce the risk of neurological deficits. The purpose of this study was to evaluate intraoperative ultrasonography in displaying intracranial meningioma and its surrounding arteries, and evaluate its potential to improve surgical precision and minimize surgical trauma. Methods: Between December 2011 and January 2013, 20 patients with anterior and middle skull base meningioma underwent surgery with the assistance of intraoperative ultrasonography in the Neurosurgery Department of Shanghai Huashan Hospital. There were 7 male and 13 female patients, aged from 31 to 66 years old. Their sonographic features were analyzed and the advantages of intraoperative ultrasonography were discussed. Results: The border of the meningioma and its adjacent vessels could be exhibited on intraoperative ultrasonography. The sonographic visualization allowed the neurosurgeon to choose an appropriate approach before the operation. In addition, intraoperative ultrasonography could inform neurosurgeons about the location of the tumor, its relation to the surrounding arteries during the operation, thus these essential arteries could be protected carefully. Conclusions: Intraoperative ultrasonography is a useful intraoperative technique. 7Identification and Characterization of a Distinct Strain of Beak and Feather Disease Virus in Southeast China显示文摘Beak and feather disease virus(BFDV) is an infectious agent responsible for feather degeneration and beak deformation in birds. In March 2017, an epidemic of psittacine beak and feather disease(PBFD) struck a farm in Fuzhou in the Fujian Province of southeast China, resulting in the death of 51 parrots. In this study, the disease was diagnosed and the pathogen was identified by PCR and whole genome sequencing. A distinct BFDV strain was identified and named as the FZ strain.This BFDV strain caused severe disease symptoms and pathological changes characteristic of typical PBFD in parrots, for example, loss of feathers and deformities of the beak and claws, and severe pathological changes in multiple organs of the infected birds. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the FZ strain was more closely related to the strain circulating in New Caledonia than the strains previously reported in China. Nucleotide homology between the FZ strain and other 43 strains of BFDV ranged from 80.0% to 92.0%. Blind passage experiment showed that this strain had limited replication capability in SPF Chicken Embryos and DF-1 Cells. Furthermore, the capsid(Cap) gene of this FZ strain was cloned into the p GEX-4 T-1 expression vector to prepare the polyclonal anti-Cap antibody. Western blotting analysis using the anti-Cap antibody further confirmed that the diseased parrots were infected with BFDV. 13A Li_(3)P nanoparticle dispersion strengthened ultrathin Li metal electrode for high energy density rechargeable batteries显示文摘Achievement of lithium(Li)metal anode with thin thickness(e.g.,≤30µm)is highly desirable for rechargeable high energy density batteries.However,the fabrication and application of such thin Li metal foil electrode remain challenging due to the poor mechanical processibility and inferior electrochemical performance of metallic Li.Here,mechanico-chemical synthesis of robust ultrathin Li/Li_(3)P(LLP)composite foils(~15µm)is demonstrated by employing repeated mechanical rolling/stacking operations using red P and metallic Li as raw materials.The in-situ formed Li+-conductive Li_(3)P nanoparticles in metallic Li matrix and their tight bonding strengthen the mechanical durability and enable the successful fabrication of free-standing ultrathin Li metal composite foil.Besides,it also reduces the electrochemical Li nucleation barrier and homogenizes Li plating/stripping behavior.When matching to high-voltage LiCoO_(2),the full cell with a low negative/positive(N/P)capacity ratio of~1.5 offers a high energy density of~522 W·h·kg^(-1) at 0.5 C based on the mass of cathode and anode.Taking into account its facile manufacturing,potentially low cost,and good electrochemical performance,we believe that such an ultrathin composite Li metal foil design with nanoparticle-dispersion-strengthened mechanism may boost the development of high energy density Li metal batteries.Lin Fu Xiancheng Wang Bao Zhang Zihe Chen Yuanjian Li Yongming Sun 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
14Optimization of Protective Agent Formulation for Soybean Rhizobium Strain HW-05 by Response Surface Methodology显示文摘[Objective] T his study aimed to investigate the protective effects of proteins,salts,sugars and trace elements on soybean rhizobium strain HW-05 by response surface methodology. [Method]Different types,combinations,ratios and concentrations of protective agents were designed. Under simulated conditions,the optimal protective agent formulation was screened for improving the survival rate and survival time of soybean rhizobium strain HW-05. The optimal combination of significant factors was determined by Box-Behnken central composite design. [Result] T hree significant factors affecting effective number of viable cells were screened,including peptone,xanthan gum and Na Cl. The final concentration of each compound was optimized: 0. 13% peptone,0. 011% xanthan gum,0. 30%Na Cl. [Conclusion] After addition of protective agent and preservation at room temperature for six months,effective number of viable cells of soybean rhizobium strain HW-05 reached 3.185 × 10~8 CFU / ml. 15Improvement of titanium alloy TA19 fatigue life by submerged abrasive waterjet peening:Correlation of its process parameters with surface integrity and fatigue performance显示文摘Submerged abrasive waterjet peening(SAWJP)is an effective anti-fatigue manufacturing technology that is widely used to strengthen aeroengine components.This study investigated the correlation of SAWJP process parameters on surface integrity and fatigue life of titanium alloy TA19.SAWJP with different water pressures and standoff distances(SoDs)was conducted on the TA19 specimens.The surface integrity of the specimens before and after SAWJP with different process parameters was experimentally studied,including microstructure,surface roughness,microhardness,and compressive residual stress(CRS).Finally,fatigue tests of the specimens before and after SAWJP treatment with different process parameters were carried out at room temperature.The results highlighted that the fatigue life of the TA19 specimen can be increased by 5.46,5.98,and 6.28 times under relatively optimal process parameters,which is mainly due to the improved surface integrity of the specimen after SAWJP treatment.However,the fatigue life of specimens treated with improper process parameters is decreased by 0.55 to 0.69 times owing to the terrible surface roughness caused by the material erosion.This work verifies that SAWJP can effectively improve the surface integrity and fatigue life of workpieces,and reveals the relationship between process parameters,surface integrity,and fatigue life,which provides support for the promotion of SAWJP in the manufacturing fields.Gongyu WANG Shulei YAO Yuxin CHI Chengcheng ZHANG Ning WANG Yalong CHEN Rongsheng LU Zhuang LI Xiancheng ZHANG 2024Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2024,37,1:0

17Kinetic and thermodynamic control of tetraphenylethene aggregation-induced emission behaviors显示文摘Many aggregation-induced emission(AIE)systems exhibit broad and structureless luminescence emission spectra resembling the Gaussian distribution,which is likely due to kinetically locked molecular conformers in the condensed phase.To verify the hypothesis,a series of tetraphenylethene(TPE)derivatives are synthesized and characterized as aqueous nanoparticle suspensions.It is found that the unsubstituted TPE exhibits reduced fluorescence intensity accompanied by a blueshift of the emission maximum,after the temperature of the aqueous suspension is elevated and cooled to room temperature again.For a naphthalimide-substituted TPE compound,thermal treatment of the AIE aqueous suspension results in complete,irreversible aggregation-caused quenching(ACQ)of fluorescence,which can be restored by a redissolving-precipitation process of thermally treated aggregates.The phenomenon is ascribed as a relative population shift of a kinetic AIE(k-AIE)state to a thermodynamic AIE(t-AIE)or ACQ state,evidenced by differential scanning calorimetry,dynamic light scattering,and scanning electron microscopy.The phenomenon may be universal for many other AIE systems and could be explored as stimuli-responsive materials.Xiancheng Nie Wenhuan Huang Dingcheng Zhou Tao Wang Xiao Wang Biao Chen Xuepeng Zhang Guoqing Zhang 2022Aggregate2022,3,4:0
18Novel,mutable site in the cerebral cavernous malformation-1 gene in Chinese sporadic intracranial cavernous malformation patients显示文摘BACKGROUND:A cerebral cavernous malformation-1(CCM1) gene mutation might result in functional loss of KREV interaction trapped-1(KRIT1),which is related to onset of cavernous malformations(CM).However,data addressing sporadic CM in Chinese patients remains limited to date. OBJECTIVE:To analyze CCM1 mutation of Chinese patients with sporadic intracranial CM. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Genetics experiment was performed in the Department of Neurosurgery,Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University between January 2004 and December 2005. PARTICIPANTS:Ninety patients with sporadic CM served as the CM group,and 30 healthy subjects were considered to be the control group. METHODS:Peripheral blood was collected from patients with CM and from control group subjects. Genomic DNA was extracted,and exons 8,9,11,12,13,15,16,17,and 18,as well as the related introns,were amplified using polymerase chain reaction.DNA sequences were compared with GeneBank. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Abnormal mutable site of CCM1 gene in the two groups. RESULTS:Four exclusive mutations of CCM1 were detected in the CM group,with a sporadic CM mutational rate of 32%(6/19).Of the four exclusive mutations,there was one missense mutation[exon 12,1172C→T(S391F)],one insertion mutation[exon 8,704insT(K246stop)],one intervening sequence mutation(IVS12-4C→T),and one synonymous mutation(exon 17, 1875C→T).With the exception of 1875C→T,all mutations detected in the CM group led to functional changes of the KRIT1 protein,which was encoded by the CCM1 gene.Gene mutations were not detected in the control group. 19Space-associated domain adaptation for three-dimensional mineral prospectivity modeling显示文摘Geographical information systems(GIS)are essential tools for mineral prospectivity modeling(MPM).Three-dimensional(3D)MPM is able to learn the association between geological evidence and mineralization in shallow zones and thereby build a prospectivity model for deep zones,making it a desirable technique to target deep-seated orebodies.However,existing 3D MPM methods directly generalize the model learned in shallow zones to the deep zones without attention to model transferability caused by the different metallogenic mechanisms between the two zones.In this study,we aim to robustly transfer the prospectivity model learned from shallow zones to deep zones.We cast the 3D MPM as a domain adaptation problem,which is an important realm of transfer learning.Because the metallogenic mechanism can be closely associated with spatial locations,we specifically focus on domain adaption concerning the spatial locations that are ignored by conventional domain adaptation methods.To measure the spatial-associated domain discrepancy,we propose a novel spatial-associated maximum mean discrepancy(SAMMD),which compares the joint distributions of features and spatial locations across domains.Based on the SAMMD criterion,a deep neural network,referred to as the spatial-associated domain adaptation network,is devised to learn cross-domain but mineralization-indicative features for building prospectivity model that is transferable to deep zones.A case study of the world-class Sanshandao gold deposit,in eastern China,was carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.The results show that compared with other leading MPM methods and other domain adaption variants,the proposed method has superior prediction accuracy and targeting efficiency,demonstrating the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method in targeting deep-seated orebodies in areas with different metallogenic mechanisms and no labeled data.Yang Zheng Hao Deng Jingjie Wu Ruisheng Wang Zhankun Liu Lixin Wu Xiancheng Mao Jing Chen 2023International Journal of Digital Earth2023,16,1:0
20Suppressing dendritic metallic Li formation on graphite anode under battery fast charging显示文摘Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with fast-charging capability are essential for enhancing consumer experience and accelerating the global market adoption of electric vehicles.However,achieving fast-charging capability without compromising energy density,cycling lifespan,and safety of LIBs remains a significant challenge due to the formation of dendritic Li metal on graphite anode under fast charging condition.In view of this,the fundamentals for the dendritic metallic Li formation and the strategies for suppressing metallic Li plating based on analyzing the entire Li^(+)transport pathway at the anode including electrolyte,pore structure of electrode,and surface and bulk of materials are summarized and discussed in this review.Besides,we highlight the importance of designing thick electrodes with fast Li^(+)transport kinetics and comprehensively understanding the interaction between solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)and Li^(+)migration in order to avoid the formation of dendritic Li metal in practical fast-charging batteries.Finally,the regulation of Li metal plating with plane morphology,instead of dendritic structure,on the surface of graphite electrode under fast-charging condition is analyzed as a future direction to achieve higher energy density of batteries without safety concerns.Shiyu Liu Baoqi Gu Zihe Chen Renming Zhan Xiancheng Wang Ruikang Feng Yongming Sun 2024Journal of Energy Chemistry2024,91,4:0
