| 1 | Spatio-temporal dynamics of vegetation and its relationship with climate factors Mongolia, China coverage in Inner显示文摘The vegetation coverage dynamics and its relationship with climate factors on different spatial and temporal scales in Inner Mongolia during 2001-2010 were analyzed based on MODIS-NDVI data and climate data.The results indicated that vegetation coverage in Inner Mongolia showed obvious longitudinal zonality,increasing from west to east across the region with a change rate of 0.2/10°N.During 2001-2010,the mean vegetation coverage was 0.57,0.4 and 0.16 in forest,grassland and desert biome,respectively,exhibiting evident spatial heterogeneities.Totally,vegetation coverage had a slight increasing trend during the study period.Across Inner Mongolia,the area of which the vegetation coverage showed extremely significant and significant increase accounted for 11.25% and 29.13% of the area of whole region,respectively,while the area of which the vegetation coverage showed extremely significant and significant decrease accounted for 7.65% and 26.61%,respectively.On inter-annual time scale,precipitation was the dominant driving force of vegetation coverage for the whole region.On inter-monthly scale,the change of vegetation coverage was consistent with both the change of temperature and precipitation,implying that the vegetation growth within a year is more sensitive to the combined effects of water and heat rather than either single climate factor.The vegetation coverage in forest biome was mainly driven by temperature on both inter-annual and inter-monthly scales,while that in desert biome was mainly influenced by precipitation on both the two temporal scales.In grassland biome,the yearly vegetation coverage had a better correlation with precipitation,while the monthly vegetation coverage was influenced by both temperature and precipitation.In grassland biome,the impacts of precipitation on monthly vegetation coverage showed time-delay effects. | MU Shaojie YANG Hongfei LI Jianlong CHEN Yizhao GANG Chengcheng ZHOU Wei JU Weimin | 2013 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2013,23,2: | 28 |
| 2 | Grassland coverage inter-annual variation and its coupling relation with hydrothermal factors in China during 1982-2010显示文摘GIMMS(Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies) NDVI(Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) from 1982 to 2006 and MODIS(Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) NDVI from 2001 to 2010 were blended to extract the grass coverage and analyze its spatial pattern. The response of grass coverage to climatic variations at annual and monthly time scales was analyzed. Grass coverage distribution had increased from northwest to southeast across China. During 1982–2010, the mean nationwide grass coverage was 34% but exhibited apparent spatial heterogeneity, being the highest(61.4%) in slope grasslands and the lowest(17.1%) in desert grasslands. There was a slight increase of the grass coverage with a rate of 0.17% per year. Increase in slope grasslands coverage was as high as 0.27% per year, while in the plain grasslands and meadows the grass coverage increase was the lowest(being 0.11% per year and 0.1% per year, respectively). Across China, the grass coverage with extremely significant increase(P<0.01) and significant increase(P<0.05) accounted for 46.03% and 11% of the total grassland area, respectively, while those with extremely significant and significant decrease accounted for only 4.1% and 3.24%, respectively. At the annual time scale, there are no significant correlations between grass coverage and annual mean temperature and precipitation. However, the grass coverage was somewhat affected by temperature in alpine and sub-alpine grassland, alpine and sub-alpine meadow, slope grassland and meadow, while grass coverage in desert grassland and plain grassland was more affected by precipitation. At the monthly time-scale, there are significant correlations between grass coverage with both temperature and precipitation, indicating that the grass coverage is more affected by seasonal fluctuations of hydrothermal conditions. | 3 | Sensitivity of green and blue-green algae to methyl tert-butyl ether显示文摘The toxicity of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) to Chlorella ellipsoidea and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae was tested and assessed for a 15-d incubation with concentrations of MTBE from high (2.00×104 mg/L) to low (2 mg/L). The results showed that the toxicity was low when the concentration of MTBE was in the range 1.00×104-2.00×104 mg/L (the greatest inhibition of growth-rate was 70%-71%, occurred during the day 1-5). Low concentrations (2-500 mg/L) stimulated algal growth up to the greatest effect of 85%-200% when the concentration of MTBE was 50-100 mg/L during day 3-5. The toxicity of MTBE (72-120 h EC50) was 6.65×103-9.58×103 mg/L for C. ellipsoidea and that is 1.14×104-2.00×104 mg/L for A. floc-aquae. | 4 | Jugular arginine supplementation increases lactation performance and nitrogen utilization efficiency in lactating dairy cows显示文摘Background: Enhancing the post-ruminal supply of arginine(Arg), a semi-essential amino acid(AA), elicits positive effects on milk production. Our objective was to determine the effects of Arg infusion on milk production parameters and aspects of nitrogen(N) absorption and utilization in lactating dairy cows. Six lactating Chinese Holstein cows of similar body weight(508 ± 14 kg), body condition score(3.0 ± 0), parity(4.0 ± 0), milk yield(30.6 ±1.8 kg) and days in milk(20 ± 2 d) were randomly assigned to 3 treatments in a replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design with 21 d for each period(1 week for infusion and 2 weeks for washout). Treatments were 1) Control: saline;2) Arg group: saline + 9.42 g/L L-Arg;3) Alanine(Ala) group: saline + 19.31 g/L L-Ala(iso-nitrogenous to the Arg group). Milk production and composition, dry matter intake, apparent absorption of N, profiles of amino acids(AA) in blood,urea N in urine, milk, and blood, and gene expression of AA transporters were determined.Results: Compared with the Control or Ala group, the infusion of Arg led to greater expression of AA transporters(SLC7 A2 and SLC7 A8) and apparent uptake of free AA in the mammary gland, and was accompanied by greater milk yield, milk protein yield and milk efficiency(calculated by dividing milk yield over feed intake), together with lower concentration of urea N [regarded as an indicator of N utilization efficiency(NUE)] in blood and milk. | 5 | Direct conversion of mouse astrocytes into neural progenitor cells and specific lineages of neurons显示文摘Background:Cell replacement therapy has been envisioned as a promising treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.Due to the ethical concerns of ESCs-derived neural progenitor cells(NPCs)and tumorigenic potential of iPSCs,reprogramming of somatic cells directly into multipotent NPCs has emerged as a preferred approach for cell transplantation.Methods:Mouse astrocytes were reprogrammed into NPCs by the overexpression of transcription factors(TFs)Foxg1,Sox2,and Brn2.The generation of subtypes of neurons was directed by the force expression of cell-type specific TFs Lhx8 or Foxa2/Lmx1a.Results:Astrocyte-derived induced NPCs(AiNPCs)share high similarities,including the expression of NPC-specific genes,DNA methylation patterns,the ability to proliferate and differentiate,with the wild type NPCs.The AiNPCs are committed to the forebrain identity and predominantly differentiated into glutamatergic and GABAergic neuronal subtypes.Interestingly,additional overexpression of TFs Lhx8 and Foxa2/Lmx1a in AiNPCs promoted cholinergic and dopaminergic neuronal differentiation,respectively.Conclusions:Our studies suggest that astrocytes can be converted into AiNPCs and lineage-committed AiNPCs can acquire differentiation potential of other lineages through forced expression of specific TFs.Understanding the impact of the TF sets on the reprogramming and differentiation into specific lineages of neurons will provide valuable strategies for astrocyte-based cell therapy in neurodegenerative diseases. | Kangmu Ma Xiaobei Deng Xiaohuan Xia Zhaohuan Fan Xinrui Qi Yongxiang Wang Yuju Li Yizhao Ma Qiang Chen Hui Peng Jianqing Ding Chunhong Li Yunlong Huang Changhai Tian Jialin C.Zheng | 2018 | Translational Neurodegeneration2018,7,1: | 2 |
| 6 | Implicit discontinuous Galerkin method on agglomerated high-order grids for 3D simulations显示文摘High quality of geometry representation is regarded essential for high-order methods to maintain their high-order accuracy. An agglomerated high-order mesh generating method is investigated in combination with discontinuous Galerkin(DG) method for solving the 3D compressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations. In this method, a fine linear mesh is first generated by standard commercial mesh generation tools. By taking advantage of an agglomeration method, a quadratic high-order mesh is quickly obtained, which is coarse but provides a high-quality geometry representation, thus very suitable for high-order computations. High-order discretizations are performed on the obtained grids with DG method and the discretized system is treated fully implicitly to obtain steady state solutions. Numerical experiments on several flow problems indicate that the agglomerated high-order mesh works well with DG method in dealing with flow problems of curved geometries. | 15 | Fungal diversity rather than bacterial diversity drives the ecosystem multifunctionality of vineyards in a semi-arid region显示文摘The presence of multiple ecosystem functions and services(i.e.,ecosystem multifunctionality)has been proven to be maintained by biodiversity in natural terrestrial ecosystems.However,the mechanisms by which microbial diversity drives ecosystem functions in vineyards and the effects of ecosystem functions on wine quality remain unknown.Here,fifteen vineyards from five wine sub-regions(Shizuishan,Yinchuan,Yuquanying,Qingtongxia,and Hongsipu)in Ningxia were selected to assess the microbial community structure,ecosystem multifunctionality,and wine quality.Overall,each index differed among the vineyards from these five wine sub-regions in Ningxia.High-throughput sequencing revealed that bacterial and fungal communities varied among these vineyards.Bacterial communities were dominated by Actinobacteria,Proteobacteria,Chloroflexi,and Acidobacteria.Ascomycota was the dominant fungal phylum,followed by Basidiomycota and Mortierellomycota.In addition,fungal Shannon diversity rather than bacterial Shannon diversity showed a positive relationship with ecosystem multifunctionality.Correlation analysis revealed that ecosystem multifunctionality was positively correlated with wine acidity and negatively correlated with pH value and residual sugar content of wine.Soil chemical functions exhibited relationships with wine quality being similar to those of ecosystem multifunctionality;i.e.,positively related to wine acidity but negatively related to wine pH and residual sugar content.However,soil physical functions were negatively correlated with the alcohol and anthocyanin content of wine.The research results show that the ecosystem functions maintained by fungal diversity could be attributed to wine quality of vineyards. | Bingbing Duan Yizhao Ren Leqi Zhang Chenxing Suzhou Guoqiao Chen Ping Cui Yusong Zhangyang Wei Liu Hasmik Merkeryan Xu Liu | 2021 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,6: | 0 |
| 16 | The effect of ECr on HSP70 expression and morphologic changes following transient cerebral lschemia in rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Cudrania tricuspidata root extract (ECr) on ischemic cerebral damage and the expression of the 70KDa heat shock protein (HSP70) following transient focal ischemia. BACKGROUND The role that ECr plays in cerebral ischemia has not been studied. METHODS Healthy wistar rats were randomized to the normal control group(Group A,n=4),the sham-operated control group(Group B,n=4),the ischemia and reperfusion group (Group C,n=24),the ischemia and reperfiusion after ECr pre- administration group(Group D,n=24).The rats of Group C and Group D were subjected to transient left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)as described by Zea Longa for 1 hour. Brain sections at the level of striatum were performed for HSP70 immunohistochemistry and morphology.HSP70 positive reactions and morphologic changes were semiquantiratively analyzedl. RESLULTS In the rats of Group A and Group B, there were scarcely HSP70 immunoreactivities either in cortex or in striatal neurons. In the ischemic brain regions for Group C rats,the HSP70 was induced in morphologically intact neurons and endothelial cells at hour 6 after recirculation, increased at hour12,peaked at day I, decreased at day 3,and HSP70 expression only occured in endothelial cells at day7. In Group D rats, the HSP70 was induced in the neurons of left MCA distribution at hour 1 after reperfusion, The changes in expression of HSP70 at different time points in Group D rats was in accord whth in Group C, but the number of HSP70 positive cells in Group D increased more, and HSP70 irnmunoreactivity in the HSP70-postive cells were more intense than in Group C. Histopathological study with HE staining showed no neuron pyknosis in Group A or in Group B. While pykrotic cells were present in the ipsilateral cortex and striatal neurons of MCA territory of Group C rats beginning at 6 hours after roper fusion. The change of histopathology in Group D was lighter at every time point. The number of pyknotic neurons in left MCA distribution was less than in Group C and there was no evident cell damage at 3 days and 7 days of reperfusion in Group D rats. CONCLUSION Our study demonstrated that transient focal cerebral ischenia could induce the HSP70 expression and induce neurons pyknosis.While ECr pre-treatment before transient focal ischemia in rats could increase the expression of HSP70 and reduce neuronal injury. | 17 | Correlation between HSP70 and c-F0S expression and apoptosis in rats undergolng transient focal cerebral ischemla and reperfusion显示文摘OBJECTIVE To compare the induction of c-Fos and HSP70 and the presence of apoptosis and the influence of Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb761) in transient focal cerebral ischemic reperfusion rats.BACKGROUND Proto ancogene activation and induction of heat shock protein (HSP) occur in response to cerebral ischemia, but the correlation between these proteins and apoptosis remains uncertain. METHODS Healthy wistar rats were randomized to the normal control group(Group A, n=4), the Sham-operated control group(Group B, n=4), the ischemia and reperfusion group(Group C, n=24), the EGb761 pre-treated ischemia and reperfusion group(Group D, n=24). The rats of Group C and Group D were subjected to transient left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) as described by Zea longa for 1 hour. RESULTS Immunohistochemical analysis revealed no c-Fos or HSP70-immunoreactivity in Group A and Group B rats. However, in Group C rats, c-Fos was expressed in ipsilateral superficial cortical layers at 1 hour after reperfusion. At 6 hours, c-Fos immunoreactivities were increased in the ipsilateral cortex and were present in the contralateral cortex, while HSP70 were induced beginning in the ipsilateral neurons of MCA distribution. At 12 hours, the expression of c-Fos reached top in superficial cortical layers. At 24 hours HSP70 immunoreactivities reached top both in ipsilateral cortex and in ipsilateral striatum. At 3 days after recirculation, HSP70 expression decreased. c-Fos expression disappeared at day 7 and HSP70 expression only occured in endothelial cells. TUNEL staining showed that there was no cell apoptosis in Gronp A or in Group B. However, in Group C, TUNEL-positive neurons were observed in the border of the penumbra-like area that surrounds the ischemic core at 6 hours following reperfusion and then the number of TUNEL-positive cells reduced gradually. The changes in expression of HSP70 and c-Fos at different time points in Group D was in accord with in Group C, but the number of positive cells and the immunoreactivities in Group D were more intense than in Group C. We found only several TUNEL-positive cells at 6 hours following reperfusion in Group D and no TUNE;L-positive cells were present at other time points.CONCLUSION The present results indicate that c-Fos was expressed from an earlier stage of reperfusion and the expression occured in bilateral cerebral cortex. In contrast, HSP70 induction began later and only occured in ipsilateral neurons of MCA distribution. | 19 | Recyclable Cu nanoparticle catalyzed azide-alkyne click polymerization显示文摘The Cu(I)-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition(CuAAC) has been developed into a powerful polymerization reaction for the synthesis of new polytriazoles with versatile properties. However, research on recyclable and reusable copper catalyst for click polymerization to meet the requirement of green chemistry was rarely reported. Copper nanoparticles were reported to be capable catalysts for CuAAC. Replacing conventional copper catalyst with copper nanoparticles may realize the recycle and reuse of the copper catalyst in click polymerization. In this paper, copper nanoparticles were prepared and used as an effective catalyst for click polymerization, and soluble polytriazoles with high molecular weights were obtained in excellent yields under optimized reaction conditions. Importantly, the copper nanoparticles can be recycled and reused for up to 11 times for the click polymerization. Moreover, introducing aggregation-induced emission(AIE)-active moiety of tetraphenylethylene into the monomers makes the resultant polymers retain the AIE feature. | 20 | Disentangling land model uncertainty via Matrix-based Ensemble Model Inter-comparison Platform(MEMIP)显示文摘Background:Large uncertainty in modeling land carbon(C)uptake heavily impedes the accurate prediction of the global C budget.Identifying the uncertainty sources among models is crucial for model improvement yet has been difficult due to multiple feedbacks within Earth System Models(ESMs).Here we present a Matrix-based Ensemble Model Inter-comparison Platform(MEMIP)under a unified model traceability framework to evaluate multiple soil organic carbon(SOC)models.Using the MEMIP,we analyzed how the vertically resolved soil biogeochemistry structure influences SOC prediction in two soil organic matter(SOM)models.By comparing the model outputs from the C-only and CN modes,the SOC differences contributed by individual processes and N feedback between vegetation and soil were explicitly disentangled.Results:Results showed that the multi-layer models with a vertically resolved structure predicted significantly higher SOC than the single layer models over the historical simulation(1900–2000).The SOC difference between the multi-layer models was remarkably higher than between the single-layer models.Traceability analysis indicated that over 80%of the SOC increase in the multi-layer models was contributed by the incorporation of depth-related processes,while SOC differences were similarly contributed by the processes and N feedback between models with the same soil depth representation.Conclusions:The output suggested that feedback is a non-negligible contributor to the inter-model difference of SOC prediction,especially between models with similar process representation.Further analysis with TRENDY v7 and more extensive MEMIP outputs illustrated the potential important role of multi-layer structure to enlarge the current ensemble spread and the necessity of more detail model decomposition to fully disentangle inter-model differences.We stressed the importance of analyzing ensemble outputs from the fundamental model structures,and holding a holistic view in understanding the ensemble uncertainty. | Cuijuan Liao Yizhao Chen Jingmeng Wang Yishuang Liang Yansong Huang Zhongyi Lin Xingjie Lu Yuanyuan Huang Feng Tao Danica Lombardozzi Almut Arneth Daniel SGoll Atul Jain Stephen Sitch Yanluan Lin Wei Xue Xiaomeng Huang Yiqi Luo | 2022 | Ecological Processes2022,11,1: | 0 |
