| 1 | Sequencing of Cultivated Peanut, Arachis hypogaea, Yields Insights into Genome Evolution and Oil Improvement显示文摘Cultivated peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is an allotetraploid crop planted in Asia, Africa, and America for edible oil and protein. To explore the origins and consequences of tetraploidy, we sequenced the allotetraploid A. hypogaea genome and compared it with the related diploid Arachis duranensis and Arachis ipaensis genomes. We annotated 39 888 A-subgenome genes and 41 526 B-subgenome genes in allotetraploid peanut. The A. hypogaea subgenomes have evolved asymmetrically, with the B subgenome resembling the ancestral state and the A subgenome undergoing more gene disruption, loss, conversion, and transposable element proliferation, and having reduced gene expression during seed development despite lacking genome-wide expression dominance. Genomic and transcriptomic analyses identified more than 2 500 oil metabolism-related genes and revealed that most of them show altered expression early in seed development while their expression ceases during desiccation, presenting a comprehensive map of peanut lipid biosynthesis. | 2 | Climate and litter C/N ratio constrain soil organic carbon accumulation显示文摘Soil organic carbon(SOC) plays critical roles in stabilizing atmospheric CO2 concentration, but the mechanistic controls on the amount and distribution of SOC on global scales are not well understood. In turn, this has hampered the ability to model global C budgets and to find measures to mitigate climate change. Here, based on the data from a large field survey campaign with 2600 plots across China’s forest ecosystems and a global collection of published data from forested land, we find that a low litter carbon-to-nitrogen ratio(C/N) and high wetness index(P/PET, precipitation-to-potentialevapotranspiration ratio) are the two factors that promote SOC accumulation, with only minor contributions of litter quantity and soil texture. The field survey data demonstrated that high plant diversity decreased litter C/N and thus indirectly promoted SOC accumulation by increasing the litter quality. We conclude that any changes in plant-community composition, plant-species richness and environmental factors that can reduce the litter C/N ratio, or climatic changes that increase wetness index, may promote SOC accumulation. | 3 | The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 4 | Microstructure, mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of an as-cast Mg–Zn–Y–Nd–Zr alloy for stent applications显示文摘A new Mg-2Zn-0.2Y -0.5N d-0.4Zr (wt%) alloy designed specially for stent applications has been developed. The as-cast alloy is featured with equiaxed grains with a mean size of about 40 μm and a small am ount of second phase (T phase) distributed discontinuously either at the grain boundaries or inside the grains. This alloy exhibits a tensile elongation of up to 35%, which is much larger than that of most reported other as-cast Mg alloys. The tensile deform ation mechanisms have also been investigated. | 5 | Probabilistic small signal stability analysis of power system with wind power and photovoltaic power based on probability collocation method显示文摘Recently, with increasing improvements in the penetration of wind power and photovoltaic power in the world, probabilistic small signal stability analysis(PSSSA) of a power system consisting of multiple types of renewable energy has become a key problem. To address this problem, this study proposes a probabilistic collocation method(PCM)-based PSSSA for a power system consisting of wind farms and photovoltaic farms. Compared with the conventional Monte Carlo method, the proposed method meets the accuracy and precision requirements and greatly reduces the computation; therefore, it is suitable for the PSSSA of this power system. Case studies are conducted based on a 4-machine 2-area and New England systems, respectively. The simulation results show that, by reducing synchronous generator output to improve the penetration of renewable energy, the probabilistic small signal stability(PSSS) of the system is enhanced. | 7 | Effects of Jisuikang on hemorheology and inflammatory factors in rats following spinal cord injury显示文摘BACKGROUND:Trauma can damage the spinal cord or cauda equina to different degrees. Previous studies have verified that traditional Chinese medicine has effects on spinal cord injury via a variety of pathways. OBJECTIVE:To observe changes in hemorheology and inflammatory factors in spinal cord injury rats following treatment with the Chinese medicine Jisuikang,to verify the dose-dependent effect of Jisuikang,and to compare its effects with the effects of prednisone. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: A randomized study was performed at the Research Institute of Orthopedics,and Experimental Center of First Clinical Medical College,Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,China from September 2007 to March 2008. MATERIALS: Jisuikang powdered extract,composed of milkvetch root (30g),Chinese angelica (12g),red peony root (12g),earthworm (10g),szechwan lovage rhizome (10g),peach seed (10g) and safflower (10g),was provided by the Experimental Center,First Clinical Medical College,Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese medicine. Each gram of powdered extract was equivalent to 6.47 g crude drug. METHODS: A total of 72 Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned into 6 groups (n = 12). Rat models of spinal cord injury were established using the occlusion method. Rats in the model group were treated with distilled water. Rats in the 25 g/kg,12.5 g/kg,and 6.25 g/kg Jisuikang groups were given 25 g/kg,12.5 g/kg,or 6.25 g/kg Jisuikang by gavage,for 14 days. Rats in the prednisone group received 0.06 g/kg prednisone by gavage,for 7 days. Rats in the normal group were given the same volume of distilled water. The volume of administration was 15 mL/kg. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Rat serum interleukin-10,tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),nitric oxide,nitric oxide synthase levels,malondialdehyde content,superoxide dismutase activity and whole blood viscosity were measured in each group. Spinal cord around the site of the model was collected. Half the spinal cord was used for histopathologic examination. The other half was used for measurement of nitric oxide and NOS levels,malondialdehyde contents,and superoxide dismutase activity. RESULTS: Superoxide dismutase activity was higher in the 25 g/kg Jisuikang group than in the model group. Malondialdehyde contents,nitric oxide and NOS levels were lower in the 25 g/kg and 12.5 g/kg Jisuikang groups compared with the model group. Whole blood viscosity was lower in the 25 g/kg and 12.5 g/kg Jisuikang groups compared with the model group (P < 0.05-0.01). Serum TNF-αcontent was lower in each Jisuikang group compared with the model group (P < 0.05-0.01). Serum interleukin-10 levels were greater in the prednisone group and each Jisuikang group compared with the model group (P < 0.01). Mild hemorrhage and necrosis in the rat spinal cord,and unclear neural cell swelling were seen in the 25 g/kg Jisuikang group. Severe hemorrhage and necrosis in the rat spinal cord,and distinct neural cell swelling were seen in the 12.5 g/kg Jisuikang group. Edema in the white matter was found in the 6.25 g/kg Jisuikang group. Pathological changes in the prednisone group were identical to the 25 g/kg and 12.5 g/kg Jisuikang groups. CONCLUSION: Jisuikang inhibits nitric oxide synthase expression,reduces nitric oxide and TNF-α levels,decreases malondialdehyde content,increases interleukin-10 levels and superoxide dismutase activity,improves indices of hemorheology,and prevents secondary changes in spinal cord injury,resulting in relieving pathological changes in spinal cord tissue. | 8 | Sulfur isotopic composition and source identification of atmospheric environment in central Zhejiang,China显示文摘Sulfur dioxide and sulfate aerosols in the atmosphere are significant factors leading to acidification of the atmospheric environment and worsening the pollution of acid deposition. Because of the 'fingerprint' characteristics of the stable sulfur isotopic composition, sulfur isotope has been widely adopted in environmental researches concerning sulfur cycle and source identification. In this study, the atmospheric environment of Jinhua City, central Zhejiang Province, was continuously monitored, and the sulfur isotopic composition of SO2 and sulfate aerosols in the atmosphere was analyzed. The results indicate that the variation of δ34S values for SO2 ranges from 1.0‰ to 7.5‰, and annual average is 4.7‰±2.3‰, whereas that of sulfate aerosols ranges from 6.4‰ to 9.8‰,and annual average is 8.1‰±1.0‰. The δ 34S values for SO2 have significant seasonal variations, which are 7.0‰ in winter and 3.3‰ in summer. These variations cannot be attributed to a single factor, and we suggest a temperature-dependent isotope equilibrium fractionation and elevated biogenic sulfur emissions of isotopically light S in summer may be the main controlling mechanisms. Furthermore, we also discuss the δ 34S model of atmospheric SO2 oxidation to form sulfate, and suggest that heterogeneous oxidation dominates in the oxidation reactions of atmospheric SO2 in the central Zhejiang Province. | 9 | Temporal and spatial variations in hydrogeochemistry of cave percolation water and their implications for four caves in Guizhou, China显示文摘Soil water and cave drip water from four cave systems in Guizhou, Southwest China, were monitored and sampled monthly from April 2003 to May 2004 to understand spatio-temporal variations in hydro-geochemistry of cave percolation water. The results indicated that among the 5 drip water sites from the Liangfeng Cave (LFC), there were no significant differences among the hydro-geochemical parameters. In the Xiniu Cave (XNC), the drip rates were variable and responded quickly to precipitation events in the 3# (No. 3) drip site with variable water head; both bulk and variation in drip rates were smaller in the 2# with constant water head. However, in the Qixing Cave (QXC) and Jiangjun Cave (JJC), drip rates, concentrations of major ions and saturation index for calcite (SI C ) were smaller, and Mg/Ca ratios in Group I (1#, 2#, 6#, 7# and 8# in the QXC; 2# and 3# in the JJC) were larger than those in Group II (3#, 4#, 5# and 9# in the QXC; 1# and 4# in the JJC). These differences might be the result of different hydrogeological processes above the caves, which are divided into five categories based on hydro-geochemistry data. | 10 | Analysis of Dynamic Tensile Process of Fiber Reinforced Concrete by Acoustic Emission Technique显示文摘The fiber reinforced concrete has good dynamic mechanical properties. But corresponding research lacks the dynamic damage characteristics of the polypropylene fiber(fiber of low elastic modulus) and steel fiber(fiber of high elastic modulus) reinforced concrete under medium strain rate(10-6 s-1-10-4 s-1). In order to study the effect of strain rate on the damage characteristics of fiber reinforced concrete during the full curve damage process, the real time dynamic acoustic emission(AE) technique was applied to monitor the damage process of fiber reinforced concrete at three strain rates. The AE wavelet energy spectrum in ca8 frequency band and average AE peak frequency at three strain rates were analyzed. With the accumulation of damage, the AE wavelet energy spectrum in ca8 frequency band increased first and then decreased, and the average AE peak frequency increased gradually. With the increase of strain rate, the AE wavelet energy spectrum in ca8 frequency band and average AE peak frequency decreased gradually. The polypropylene fiber content has more obvious effect on the Dynamic increase factor(DIF) of the peak stress than the steel fiber content. | 11 | Determination of metastable zone and induction time of analgin for cooling crystallization显示文摘The solubility, metastable zone width, and induction time of analgin for unseeded batch cooling crystallization in ethanol–aqueous system were experimentally determined. The solubility data could be well described by the van't Hoff equation model. The metastable zone width at various cooling rates was measured, and some parameters of nucleation kinetic were calculated using the Ny'vlt theory. Furthermore, the induction period of various temperatures and supersaturation ratios was also measured. According to classical nucleation theory, some nucleation parameters and interfacial energy was calculated through the induction time(t_(ind)) data. | 12 | Three-dimensional fluorescence spectral characteristics of dissolved organic carbon in cave drip waters and their responses to environment changes: Four cave systems as an example in Guizhou Province, China显示文摘Understanding the responses of fluorescence spectral characteristics of cave drip waters to modern environment and climate changes is key to the reconstructions of environmental and climatic changes using fluorescence spectral characteristics of speleothems. The fluorescence spectral characteristics of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in four active cave systems were analyzed with a three-dimensional (3D) fluorescence spectral analysis method. We found that the fluorescence types of DOC were mainly of fulvic-like and protein-like fluorescences, both in soil waters and cave drip waters. The intensity of fulvic-like fluorescence was positively correlated with the concentrations of DOC, suggesting that the DOC of cave drip waters was derived from the overlying soil layer of a cave system. Compared with the other cave systems, the variation range of the excitation and emission wavelengths for fulvic-like fluorescence of cave drip waters in Liangfeng cave system that had forest vegetation was smaller and the excitation wavelength was longer, while its fluorescence intensity varied significantly. By contrast, the excitation and emission wavelengths and fluorescence intensity for that in Jiangjun cave system that had a scrub and tussock vegetation showed the most significant variation, while its excitation wavelength was shorter. | 13 | Combination of graphene oxide and platelet-rich plasma improves tendon-bone healing in a rabbit model of supraspinatus tendon reconstruction显示文摘The treatment of rotator cuff tear is one of the major challenges for orthopedic surgeons.The key to treatment is the reconstruction of the tendon-bone interface(TBI).Autologous platelet-rich plasma(PRP)is used as a therapeutic agent to accelerate the healing of tendons,as it contains a variety of growth factors and is easy to prepare.Graphene oxide(GO)is known to improve the physical properties of biomaterials and promote tissue repair.In this study,PRP gels containing various concentrations of GO were prepared to promote TBI healing and supraspinatus tendon reconstruction in a rabbit model.The incorporation of GO improved the ultrastructure and mechanical properties of the PRP gels.The gels containing 0.5 mg/ml GO(0.5 GO/PRP)continuously released transforming growth factor-b1(TGF-b1)and platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF)-AB,and the released TGF-b1 and PDGF-AB were still at high concentrations,1063.451 pg/ml and814.217 pg/ml,respectively,on the 14th day.In vitro assays showed that the 0.5 GO/PRP gels had good biocompatibility and promoted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells proliferation and osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation.After 12 weeks of implantation,the magnetic resonance imaging,microcomputed tomography and histological results indicated that the newly regenerated tendons in the 0.5 GO/PRP group had a similar structure to natural tendons.Moreover,the biomechanical results showed that the newly formed tendons in the 0.5 GO/PRP group had better biomechanical properties compared to those in the other groups,and had more stable TBI tissue.Therefore,the combination of PRP and GO has the potential to be a powerful advancement in the treatment of rotator cuff injuries. | Dingsu Bao Jiacheng Sun Min Gong Jie Shi Bo Qin Kai Deng Gang Liu Shengqiang Zeng Zhou Xiang Shijie Fu | 2021 | Regenerative Biomaterials2021,8,6: | 4 |
| 14 | Design and experiment of centralized pneumatic deep precision fertilization device for rice transplanter显示文摘To improve the precision of deep fertilization of paddy fields,a six-row centralized pneumatic deep precision fertilization device for a rice transplanter was designed.This device included a spiral fertilizer distribution system,centralized pneumatic fertilizer delivery system,an opener system,and a fertilization control system.The centralized airflow distribution method was used in the fertilizer delivery system to ensure that the airflow in each fertilizer pipe was evenly distributed.The rotational speeds of the power take-off(PTO)and fertilizer shaft were measured synchronously using photoelectric sensors and matched proportionately in real-time using PID closed-loop control algorithms to achieve precise fertilization rates at each working speed of the rice transplanter.There were two key considerations in the design of the control system to ensure precise fertilization.Firstly,a photoelectric sensor was used to measure the speed of the PTO;the high rotational speed of the PTO could provide a high signal frequency and improve the precision of the measurement of the transplanter’s working speed.Secondly,the fertilizer shaft speed measurement subprogram was set to sleep for a short period to reduce the vibration caused by the engine.During the tests of pneumatic fertilizer delivery system,single-factor tests on airflow distribution methods were conducted.The results showed that the coefficient of variation of the airflow speed for the centralized airflow distribution method was 1.67%,which was the least among the coefficients of the three distribution methods.In the bench tests,the rotational speeds of the fertilizer shaft were set at 10 r/min,20 r/min,30 r/min,and 40 r/min.The maximum coefficient of variation of the fertilization consistency in different rows was 1.49%at the rotational speed of 20 r/min.The maximum coefficient of variation of the fertilization stability was 2.86%at the rotational speed of 40 r/min,while the average fertilizer amount per lap for each distributor was 26.25 g/r.The results of the dynamic fertilization tests showed that the maximum relative error of the fertilizer distribution amount was 2.00%when the target fertilizer rates were 20,30,and 40 kg/667 m2.The results of the field tests showed that the average relative error of the fertilization amount was 3.53%,which satisfies the design standard.This research provides a reference for optimizing pneumatic fertilizer delivery systems and improving fertilization control systems and other pneumatic precision fertilizer application devices. | Xiantao Zha Guozhong Zhang Shijie Zhang Qunxi Hou Yang Wang Yong Zhou | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,6: | 3 |
| 15 | Epithelial-mesenchymal transition status of circulating tumor cells in breast cancer and its clinical relevance显示文摘Objective:Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)play a critical role in cancer metastasis,but their prevalence and significance remain unclear.This study attempted to track the epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)status of CTCs in breast cancer patients and investigate their clinical relevance.Methods:In this study,the established negFACS-IF:E/M platform was applied to isolate rare CTCs and characterize their EMT status in breast cancer.A total of 89 breast cancer patients were recruited,including stage 0–III(n=60)and late stage(n=29)cases.Results:Using the negFACS-IF:E/M platform,it was found that in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)+patients,mesenchymal CTCs usually exhibited a high percentage of HER2+cells.Stage IV breast cancer patients had considerably more CTCs than stage 0–III patients.Among stage 0–III breast cancers,the HER2 subtype included a significantly higher percentage of mesenchymal and biphenotypic(epithelial and mesenchymal)CTCs than the luminal A or B subtypes.Among stage IV patients,CTCs were predominantly epithelial in cases with local recurrence and were more mesenchymal in cases with distant metastasis.By applying a support vector machine(SVM)algorithm,the EMT status of CTCs could distinguish between breast cancer cases with metastasis/local recurrence and those without recurrence.Conclusions:The negFACS-IF:E/M platform provides a flexible and generally acceptable method for the highly sensitive and specific detection of CTCs and their EMT traits in breast cancer.This study demonstrated that the EMT status of CTCs had high clinical relevance in breast cancer,especially in predicting the distant metastasis or local recurrence of breast cancer. | Jiaojiao Zhou Xuan Zhu Shijie Wu Jingxin Guo Kun Zhang Chunjing Xu Huihui Chen Yuxi Jin Yuting Sun Shu Zheng Yiding Chen | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,1: | 3 |

| 17 | Stable Carbon Isotope Variations in Cave Percolation Waters and their Implications in Four Caves of Guizhou, China显示文摘Monitoring and sampling of main plants,soil CO2,soil water,bedrock,spring water,drip water and its corresponding speleothem were performed at four cave systems of Guizhou,Southwest China,from April 2003 to May 2004,in order to understand stable carbon isotope ratios variations of dissolved inorganic Carbon(DIC) in cave percolation waters(δ13CDIC) and their implications for paleoclimate.Stable carbon isotopic compositions and ions(Ca,Mg,Sr,SO4,Cl etc.) were measured for all samples.The results indicate that there are significant differences among the δ13CDIC values from inter-cave,even inter-drip of intra-cave in the four caves.The δ13CDIC values from the Liangfeng Cave(LFC) is lightest among the four caves,where vegetation type overlying the cave is primary forest dominated by tall trees with lighter average δ13C value(–29.9‰).And there are remarkable differences in δ13CDIC values of different drip waters in the Qixing Cave(QXC) and Jiangjun Cave(JJC),up to 6.9‰ and 7.8‰,respectively.Further analyses show that the δ13CDIC values in cave drip waters are not only controlled by vegetation biomass overlying the cave,but also hydro-geochemical processes.Therefore,accurate interpreting of δ13C recorded in speleothems cannot be guaranteed if these effects of the above mentioned factors are not taken into consideration. | LUO Weijun WANG Shijie XIE Xingneng ZHOU Yunchao LI Tingyu | 2013 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,5: | 3 |

| 19 | Estimation of soil organic carbon storage and its fractions in a small karst watershed显示文摘With few available soil organic carbon(SOC)profiles and the heterogeneity of those that do exist, the estimation of SOC pools in karst areas is highly uncertain.Based on the spatial heterogeneity of SOC content of 23,536 samples in a karst watershed, a modified estimation method was determined for SOC storage that exclusively applies to karst areas. The method is a 'soil-type method' based on revised calculation indexes for SOC storage. In the present study, the organic carbon contents of different soil types varied greatly, but generally decreased with increasing soil depth. The organic carbon content decreased nearly linearly to a depth of 0–50 cm and then varied at depths of 50–100 cm. Because of the large spatial variability in the karst area, we were able to determine that influences of the different indexes on the estimation of SOC storage decreased as follows: soil thickness > boulder content > rock fragment content > SOC content > bulk density. Using the modified formula, the SOC content in the Houzhai watershed in Puding was estimated to range from 3.53 to 5.44 kg m^(-2), with an average value of 1.24 kg m^(-2) to a depth of 20 cm, and from 4.44 to 14.50 kg m^(-2), with an average value of 12.12 kg m^(-2) to a depth of 100 cm.
