2Mechanization technology:The key to sugarcane production in China显示文摘Sugarcane is an important cash crop in southern China now planted on about 1.5 million ha in the main production areas in Guangxi,Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan,Guangdong,and Hainan Provinces.Since the cost of labor in China is increasing rapidly and the price of local sugar is uncompetitive with the product from mechanized international producers,China needs to change its sugarcane production methods from manual work to mechanization in order to catch up with international trends in this global industry.Although a lot of effort in China have gone into sugarcane mechanization since the 1960s,the overall level of mechanization in sugarcane production is still only approximately 30%,which is about 20%lower than that achieved in the other main field crops.Almost all of the sugarcane grown in China is still harvested by hand.In order to summarize past experience and promote the mechanization of sugarcane production in China,this paper reviews the whole process of developing mechanization since 1960s and describes the current state of sugarcane mechanization in China.The research currently being undertaken and the main obstacles to be overcome in developing a mechanized sugarcane production system,are described.The design and testing of sugarcane harvesting machinery and its key components has been a significant research area by some Chinese universities,research institutes,and manufacturing companies in these past decades.This paper reviews that research and outlines the main achievements which have been made in this area.Mechanized harvesting systems for sugarcane,and the appropriate harvesting patterns suitable for different growing conditions applying in China,have also been studied.The paper concludes with some comments on the future directions for progress in China’s mechanization of sugarcane production and some policy suggestions to facilitate the industry's transition.Ou Yinggang Malcolm Wegener Yang Dantong Liu Qingting Zheng Dingke Wang Meimei Liu Haochun 2013International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2013,6,1:13
3Endothelial CDS2 deficiency causes VEGFA-mediated vascular regression and tumor inhibition显示文摘The response of endothelial cells to signaling stimulation is critical for vascular morphogenesis,homeostasis and function.Vascular endothelial growth factor-a(VEGFA)has been commonly recognized as a pro-angiogenic factor in vertebrate developmental,physiological and pathological conditions for decades.Here we report a novel finding that genetic ablation of CDP-diacylglycerol synthetase-2(CDS2),a metabolic enzyme that controls phosphoinositide recycling,switches the output of VEGFA signaling from promoting angiogenesis to unexpectedly inducing vessel regression.Live imaging analysis uncovered the presence of reverse migration of the angiogenic endothelium in cds2 mutant zebrafish upon VEGFA stimulation,and endothelium regression also occurred in postnatal retina and implanted tumor models in mice.In tumor models,CDS2 deficiency enhanced the level of tumorsecreted VEGFA,which in-turn trapped tumors into a VEGFA-induced vessel regression situation,leading to suppression of tumor growth.Mechanistically,VEGFA stimulation reduced phosphatidylinositol(4,5)-bisphosphate(PIP2)availability in the absence of CDS2-controlled-phosphoinositide metabolism,subsequently causing phosphatidylinositol(3,4,5)-triphosphate(PIP3)deficiency and F0X01 activation to trigger regression of CDS2-null endothelium.Thus,our data indicate that the effect of VEGFA on vasculature is context-dependent and can be converted from angiogenesis to vascular regression.Wencao Zhao Le Cao Hanru Ying Wenjuan Zhang Dantong Li Xiaolong Ziiu Wenzhi Xue Shuang Wu Mengye Cao Cong Fu Haonan Qi Yimei Hao Yun-Chi Tang Jun Qin Tao PZhong Xiaoxi Lin Luyang Yu Xuri Li Lin Li Dianqing Wu Weijun Pan 2019Cell Research2019,29,11:9
4Deriving all minimal consistency-based diagnosis sets using SAT solvers显示文摘In this paper, a novel method is proposed for judging whether a component set is a consistency-based diagnostic set, using SAT solv- ers. Firstly, the model of the system to be diagnosed and all the observations are described with conjunctive normal forms (CNF). Then, all the related clauses in the CNF files to the components other than the considered ones are extracted, to be used for satisfiability checking by SAT solvers. Next, all the minimal consistency-based diagnostic sets are derived by the CSSE-tree or by other similar algorithms. We have implemented four related algorithms, by calling the gold medal SAT solver in SAT07 competition – RSAT. Experimental results show that all the minimal consistency-based diagnostic sets can be quickly computed. 5A novel local search for unicost set covering problem using hyperedge configuration checking and weight diversity显示文摘The unicost version of well-known set covering problem(SCP) is central to a wide variety of practical applications for which finding an optimal solution quickly is crucial. In this paper, we propose a new local searchbased algorithm for the unicost SCP which follows the general framework of the popular stochastic local search with a particular focus on the hyperedge selection strategy and weight diversity strategy. Specifically, a strategy as called hyperedge configuration checking strategy is proposed here to avoid the search trajectory which leads to local optima. Additionally, a new weight diversity strategy is proposed for the diversification of search results,by changing the weight of both covered and uncovered vertices in the current solution. The experimental results show that our algorithm significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art heuristic algorithm by one to two orders of magnitudes on the 85 classical instances. 6Signatures within esophageal microbiota with progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) is one of the dominant malignances worldwide, but currently there is less focus on the microbiota with ESCC and its precancerous lesions.Methods: Paired esophageal biopsy and swab specimens were obtained from 236 participants in Linzhou, China.Data from 16 S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing were processed using quantitative insights into microbial ecology(QIIME2) and R Studio to evaluate differences. The Wilcoxon rank sum test and Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test were used to compare diversity and characteristic genera by specimens and participant groups. Ordinal logistic regression model was used to build microbiol prediction model.Results: Microbial diversity was similar between biopsy and swab specimens, including operational taxonomic unit(OTU) numbers and Shannon index. There were variations and similarities of esophageal microbiota among different pathological characteristics of ESCC. Top 10 relative abundance genera in all groups include Streptococcus, Prevotella, Veillonella, Actinobacillus, Haemophilus, Neisseria, Alloprevotella, Rothia, Gemella and Porphyromonas. Genus Streptococcus, Haemophilus, Neisseria and Porphyromonas showed significantly difference in disease groups when compared to normal control, whereas Streptococcus showed an increasing tendency with the progression of ESCC and others showed a decreasing tendency. About models based on all combinations of characteristic genera, only taken Streptococcus and Neisseria into model, the prediction performance was the ideal one, of which the area under the curve(AUC) was 0.738.Conclusions: Esophageal biopsy and swab specimens could yield similar microbial characterization. 7Effect of intermittent aeration mode on nitrogen concentration in the water column and sediment pore water of aquaculture ponds显示文摘Nitrogen in pond sediments is a major water quality concern and can impact the productivity of aquaculture.Dissolved oxygen is an important factor for improving water quality and boosting fish growth in aquaculture ponds,and plays an important role in the conversion of ammonium-nitrogen(NH4-N)to nitrite-nitrogen(NO2--N)and eventually nitrate-nitrogen(NO3--N).A central goal of the study was to identify the best aeration method and strategy for improving water quality in aquaculture ponds.We conducted an experiment with six tanks,each with a different aeration mode to simulate the behavior of aquaculture ponds.The results show that a 36 hr aeration interval(Tc=36 hr:36 hr)and no aeration resulted in high concentrations of NH4-N in the water column.Using a 12 hr interval time(Tc=12 hr:12 hr)resulted in higher NO2--N and NO3--N concentrations than any other aeration mode.Results from an 8 hr interval time(Tc=8 hr:8 hr)and 24 hr interval time(Tc=24 hr:24 hr)were comparable with those of continuous aeration,and had the benefit of being in use for only half of the time,consequently reducing energy consumption.Dantong Zhu Xiangju Cheng David J.Sample Mohammad Nayeb Yazdi 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,4:4
8A pulsed switching peroxi-coagulation process to control hydroxyl radical production and to enhance 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid degradation显示文摘The aim of this study was to develop a new pulsed switching peroxi-coagulation system to control hydroxyl radical(∙OH)production and to enhance 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D)degradation.The system was constructed with a sacrifice iron anode,a Pt anode,and a gas diffusion cathode.Production of H_(2)O_(2) and Fe^(2+)was controlled separately by time delayers with different pulsed switching frequencies.Under current densities of 5.0 mA/cm^(2)(H_(2)O_(2))and 0.5 mA/cm^(2)(Fe^(2+)),the∙OH production was optimized with the pulsed switching frequency of 1.0 s(H_(2)O_(2)):0.3 s(Fe^(2+))and the ratio of H_(2)O_(2) to Fe^(2+)molar concentrations of 6.6.Under the optimal condition,2,4-D with an initial concentration of 500 mg/L was completely removed in the system within 240 min.The energy consumption for the 2,4-D removal in the system was much lower than that in the electro-Fenton process(686 vs.13610 kWh/kg TOC).The iron consumption in the system was~20 times as low as that in the peroxi-coagulation process(19620 vs.3940400 mg/L)within 240 min.The system should be a promising peroxi-coagulation method for organic pollutants removal in wastewater.Yaobin Lu Songli He Dantong Wang Siyuan Luo Aiping Liu Haiping Luo Guangli Liu Renduo Zhang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:3
9ABCLS method for high-reliability aerospace mechanism with truncated random uncertainties显示文摘The random variables are always truncated in aerospace engineering and the truncated distribution is more feasible and effective for the random variables due to the limited samples available.For high-reliability aerospace mechanism with truncated random variables, a method based on artificial bee colony(ABC) algorithm and line sampling(LS) is proposed.The artificial bee colony-based line sampling(ABCLS) method presents a multi-constrained optimization model to solve the potential non-convergence problem when calculating design point(is also as most probable point, MPP) of performance function with truncated variables; by implementing ABC algorithm to search for MPP in the standard normal space, the optimization efficiency and global searching ability are increased with this method dramatically.When calculating the reliability of aerospace mechanism with too small failure probability, the Monte Carlo simulation method needs too large sample size.The ABCLS method could overcome this drawback.For reliability problems with implicit functions, this paper combines the ABCLS with Kriging response surface method,therefore could alleviate computational burden of calculating the reliability of complex aerospace mechanism.A numerical example and an engineering example are carried out to verify this method and prove the applicability.Peng Wensheng Zhang Jianguo Zhu Dantong 2015Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2015,28,4:3
10Preparation and Hydrophilicity of Copolymerization of Chitosan Selectively Grafted by Polyethylene Glycol显示文摘Copolymerization of chitosan selectively grafted by polyethylene glycol was prepared. Chitosan was selectively grafted by monomethoxy polyethylene glycol(mPEG-OH), which contained a hydroxyl group combining with hexamethylene diisocyanate(HDI) to form a novel macromonomer namely monomethoxy polyethylene glycol isocyanate(mPEG-NCO) containing a isocyanate group with higher chemical activity in ethyl glyoxalate solution absolutely without water. The selective grafted copolymerization of Chitosan with mPEG-NCO was conducted under heterogeneous conditions as suspension in dimethylformamide. The hydrophilic copolymers of chitosan were prepared by condensation reaction of isocyanate group on mPEG-NCO with hydroxy groups on chitosan chains because amino groups on chitosan chains were protected by complexion formation with copper ions. The effect of reaction condition on the grafting extents was discussed. Swelling properties of mPEG-g-CS were researched. The graft copolymer mPEG-g-CS was characterized by the infrared spectra. The experimental result showed that the copper ions were very effective to protect amino groups from condensation reaction. The swelling degree in water increases with adding of grafting ratio. The maximum swelling degree was up to above 132% when the grafting ratio was about 270%. 12Efficient zonal diagnosis with maximum satisfiability显示文摘Model-based diagnosis(MBD) has been widely acknowledged as an effective diagnosis paradigm.However, for large scale circuits, it is difficult to find all cardinality-minimal diagnoses within a reasonable time. This paper proposes a novel method that takes a significant step in this direction. The idea is to divide a circuit into zones and compute the cardinality-minimal diagnoses by finding subset-minimal diagnoses with cardinality-minimal via a maximum satisfiability(MaxSAT) solver on an abstracted circuit that is composed of these zones instead of all components. We also propose a new propagate-extend method for extending the seed-TLDs to obtain all cardinality-minimal diagnoses efficiently. We implement our method with a state-of-the-art core-guided MaxSAT solver, and present evidence that it significantly improves the diagnosis efficiency on ISCAS-85 circuits. 16Inhibition of spore germination of Ulva pertusa by the marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas haloplanktis CI4显示文摘The effect of the bacterial strain CI4 on the germination of spores from the green alga Ulva pertusa was assayed and it was found that the bacterial biofilm and cell-free supernatant strongly inhibited spore germination. In attempts to define the chemical nature of the antifouling substance in the supernatant of CI4,the culture supernatants were tested for activity after heat treatment,enzymatic treatments,size fractionation,and separation into aqueous and organic fractions. Results suggest that this bacterium produces an extracellular component with specific activity toward algal spores that was heat-sensitive and between 3 and 10 kDa in molecular size. The exposure of the organic phase fraction to spores showed inhibitive effect on spore germination. Pronase and carboxypeptidase y did not significantly affect the activity of inhibitory component,suggesting that the component was not a protein or a peptide.
