| 1 | Single-cell RNA-seq highlights intra-tumoral heterogeneity and malignant progression in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma显示文摘Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the most common type of pancreatic cancer featured with high intra-tumoral heterogeneity and poor prognosis. To comprehensively delineate the PDAC intra-tumoral heterogeneity and the underlying mechanism for PDAC progression, we employed single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) to acquire the transcriptomic atlas of 57,530 individual pancreatic cells from primary PDAC tumors and control pancreases, and identified diverse malignant and stromal cell types, including two ductal subtypes with abnormal and malignant gene expression profiles respectively, in PDAC. We found that the heterogenous malignant subtype was composed of several subpopulations with differential proliferative and migratory potentials. Cell trajectory analysis revealed that components of multiple tumor-related pathways and transcription factors (TFs) were differentially expressed along PDAC progression. Furthermore, we found a subset of ductal cells with unique proliferative features were associated with an inactivation state in tumor-infiltrating T cells, providing novel markers for the prediction of antitumor immune response. | 3 | Impending HRT wave precursors to the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake and methods of earthquake impending prediction by using HRT wave显示文摘We deployed four geo-electric monitoring stations in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces from 2004, using the new generation of equipment (PS-100) and technologies to capture the HRT wave earthquake precursor. Before the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, we recorded the HRT wave precursor at the only operating station in Hongge (HG, Δ=465 km) and found that significant impending signal had been recorded at the station in the early morning ( 0―5 am) of 12th of May, 2008. The precursor for this earthquake is consistent with precursors recorded for other strong earthquakes. The measured physical properties (geo-resistivity and telluric-current) show tidal wave period oscillations from several days to several months before the earthquakes and the amplitude of such HT oscillation increases significantly towards the occurrence of an earthquake. These HT and RT waves from the epicenter have a causal relationship with the earthquakes that happened several days later. The arrival time of two RT waves is proportional to the distance from the station to the epicenter. The estimated natural decay of the amplitude is correlated with the natural period (T0) of the earthquake fault, which is proportional to the fault length. From this relationship, we can predict the earthquake magnitude. For magnitude 6―9 earthquakes, the natural period is about 1―6 hours. Such oscillation comes from the epicenter area and they can propagate several thousand kilometers in the Earth's crust. Before a strong earthquake in the shallow crust, the conductive pore fluid will experience major changes before the fault rapture. Such fluid change will emit an oscillation in the pore fluid pressure. This is the mechanism for the HRT wave generation. Since the China Earthquake Administration funded the HRT wave short-term earth-quake prediction project in 2003, the first record of HRT precursor wave has been recorded from the 2004-12-26 Sumatra Mw9.0 earthquake with the largest epicentre distance Δ=2900 km. Thereafter, we have captured HRT waves from more than twenty strong earthquakes, which are well-matched and show repeatability, consistency and regularity. All our observation with the HRT waves demonstrate that HRT wave precursors to earthquakes indeed exist. Strong earthquakes can be predicted and short-term and impending earthquake prediction is achievable in the very near future. | 4 | Medical expenditures for colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment: A 10-year high-level-hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey in China, 2002-2011显示文摘Objective: Colorectal cancer(CRC) causes a substantial burden of disease in China and the evidence of economic burden triggered is fundamental for priority setting. The aim of this survey was to quantify medical expenditures and the time trends for CRC diagnosis and treatment in China.Methods: From 2012 to 2014, a hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey was conducted in 13 provinces across China. For each eligible CRC patient diagnosed from 2002 to 2011, clinical information and expenditure data were extracted using a uniform questionnaire. All expenditure data were reported in Chinese Yuan(CNY)using 2011 values.Results: Of the 14,536 CRC patients included, the average age at diagnosis was 58.2 years and 15.8% were stageI cases. The average medical expenditure per patient was estimated at 37,902 CNY [95 % confidence interval(95%CI): 37,282-38,522], and the annual average increase rate was 9.2% from 2002 to 2011(P for trend <0.001), with a cumulative increase of 2.4 times(from 23,275 CNY to 56,010 CNY). The expenditure per patient in stages Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ were 31,698 CNY, 37,067 CNY, 38,918 CNY and 42,614 CNY, respectively(P<0.001). Expenditure significantly differed within various subgroups. Expenses for drugs contributed the largest proportion(52.6%).Conclusions: These conservative estimates illustrated that medical expenditures for CRC diagnosis and treatment in tertiary hospitals in China were substantial and increased rapidly over the 10 years, with drugs continually being the main expense by 2011. Relatively, medical expenditures are lower for CRC in the earlier stages. | 6 | The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. | 12 | The effects of portable cooling systems on thermal comfort and work performance in a hot environment显示文摘There are some special spaces in which there is no air conditioning or the people are in move,thus exposing people to a hot environment.In this study,portable cooling systems were proposed and their effects on thermal comfort and work performance were investigated at an air temperature of 32°C.Four conditions were established:cool air towards breathing zone(A),chest and back cooling(B)#combined cooling(C)and no cooling(D).Twenty-eight subjects were exposed to the four conditions in a counterbalanced order.During each exposure they performed tasks and made subjective assessments,while multiple physiological parameters were measured.Compared with no cooling(D),cool air towards breathing zone(A)and chest and back cooling(B)improved work performance by 17.5%and 19.25%,respectively,while decreased the subjects'thermal sensation,skin temperature,and heart rate.When the two cooling systems were combined(C),larger improvements in thermal comfort and work performance were achieved than no cooling(D);the mean thermal sensation rating decreased from 2.4 to 0.7;work performance increased by up to 33%,and physiological parameters including skin temperature,pulse,heart rate and salivary alpha-amylase significantly decreased.The present results suggest that the proposed portable cooling systems could maintain thermal comfort and work performance in a hot environment,while potentially improve air quality for some special spaces. | Jieyu Tang Yu Liu Hui Du Li Lan Yuxiang Sun Jialin Wu | 2021 | Building Simulation2021,14,6: | 2 |

| 14 | Present Synthesizing Situation and Application Mechanism of Hercynite in Cement Kilns显示文摘The magnesia-hercynite bricks offer a new lining to rotary cement kiln. They are well adopted and widely used in the high temperature zone of cement kiln, and have obtained good performance at rigorous and severe working conditions. The synthesis of hercynite requires a suitable atmosphere with proper O2 partial pressures which makes sure FeO can stably exist at the synthesizing temperature. Current industrial production of hercynite mainly adopts fused method. The other method, sintering method, is not mature and needs further research. The magnesia-hercynite brick shows high hot toughness, high adhesion strength to kiln crust, and good corrosion resistance to alkali salt in cement kilns. | 16 | Highly emissive coordination polymer derived from tetraphenylethylene-tetrazole chromophore:Synthesis,characterization and piezochromic luminescent behavior显示文摘Solid-state materials that exhibit pressure stimulus-response characteristics in a manner of emission signal,known as piezochromic luminescence(PCL),demonstrate great potential in photoelectric devices.The weakened luminescence and insignificant color change in the aggregation state,however,hampers their practical applications.Herein,a highly emissive coordination polymer,[Zn2(H4TTPE)(H2O)4]·H2O(CUST-805),is successfully constructed by employing an AIE-active chromophore as the building block.The structural characterization and photophysical properties are systematically studied.Owing to intrinsic twisted conformation and AIE feature of tetraphenylethylene-tetrazole ligand,CUST-805 achieves the visible and reversible PCL from blue to green switched by different external stimuli.The transformation between crystalline and amorphous states is proved to be the origin of present PCL behavior.Moreover,on basis of electron and energy transfer quenching mechanism,the highly selective and sensitive sensor based on CUST-805 is realized,showing the low detection limit of 0.29 ppm towards 2,4,6-trinitrophenol. | Xu Han Jialin Tong Guanyu Ding Chunyi Sun Xinlong Wang Zhongmin Su Jing Sun Li-Li Wen Guo-Gang Shan | 2023 | Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,1: | 2 |

| 18 | Silk-based hydrogel incorporated with metal-organic framework nanozymes for enhanced osteochondral regeneration显示文摘Osteochondral defects(OCD)cannot be efficiently repaired due to the unique physical architecture and the pathological microenvironment including enhanced oxidative stress and inflammation.Conventional strategies,such as the control of implant microstructure or the introduction of growth factors,have limited functions failing to manage these complex environments.Here we developed a multifunctional silk-based hydrogel incorporated with metal-organic framework nanozymes(CuTA@SF)to provide a suitable microenvironment for enhanced OCD regeneration.The incorporation of CuTA nanozymes endowed the SF hydrogel with a uniform microstructure and elevated hydrophilicity.In vitro cultivation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)and chondrocytes showed that CuTA@SF hydrogel accelerated cell proliferation and enhanced cell viability,as well as had antioxidant and antibacterial properties.Under the inflammatory environment with the stimulation of IL-1β,CuTA@SF hydrogel still possessed the potential to promote MSC osteogenesis and deposition of cartilage-specific extracellular matrix(ECM).The proteomics analysis further confirmed that CuTA@SF hydrogel promoted cell proliferation and ECM synthesis.In the full-thickness OCD model of rabbit,CuTA@SF hydrogel displayed successfully in situ OCD regeneration,as evidenced by micro-CT,histology(HE,S/O,and toluidine blue staining)and immunohistochemistry(Col I and aggrecan immunostaining).Therefore,CuTA@SF hydrogel is a promising biomaterial targeted at the regeneration of OCD. | Zhicheng Cao Hongmei Wang Jialin Chen Yanan Zhang Qingyun Mo Po Zhang Mingyue Wang Haoyang Liu Xueyang Bao Yuzhi Sun Wei Zhang Qingqiang Yao | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,2: | 2 |
