| 1 | 3-N-butylphthalide improves neuronal morphology after chronic cerebral ischemia显示文摘3-N-butylphthalide is an effective drug for acute ischemic stroke. However, its effects on chronic cerebral ischemia-induced neuronal injury remain poorly understood. Therefore, this study ligated bilateral carotid arteries in 15-month-old rats to simulate chronic cerebral ischemia in aged humans. Aged rats were then intragastrically administered 3-n-butylphthalide. 3-N-butylphthalide administration improved the neuronal morphology in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus of rats with chronic cerebral ischemia, increased choline acetyltransferase activity, and decreased malondialdehyde and amyloid beta levels, and greatly improved cognitive function. | 3 | Prostate cancer identification: quantitative analysis of T2-weighted MR images based on a back propagation artificial neural network model显示文摘Computer-aided diagnosis(CAD) systems have been proposed to assist radiologists in making diagnostic decisions by providing helpful information. As one of the most important sequences in prostate magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), image features from T2-weighted images(T2WI) were extracted and evaluated for the diagnostic performances by using CAD. We extracted 12 quantitative image features from prostate T2-weighted MR images. The importance of each feature in cancer identification was compared in the peripheral zone(PZ) and central gland(CG), respectively. The performance of the computer-aided diagnosis system supported by an artificial neural network was tested. With computer-aided analysis of T2-weighted images, many characteristic features with different diagnostic capabilities can be extracted. We discovered most of the features(10/12) had significant difference(P<0.01) between PCa and non-PCa in the PZ, while only five features(sum average, minimum value, standard deviation, 10 th percentile, and entropy) had significant difference in CG. CAD prediction by features from T2 w images can reach high accuracy and specificity while maintaining acceptable sensitivity. | 6 | Moxibustion eases chronic inflammatory visceral pain through regulating MEK, ERK and CREB in rats显示文摘AIM To investigate the effects of herb-partitioned moxibustion(HPM) on phosphorylation of mitogen-activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase(MEK)1, extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)1/2 and c AMP response element binding protein(CREB) in spinal cord of rats with chronic inflammatory visceral pain(CIVP), and to explore the central mechanism of HPM in treating CIVP.METHODS Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into normal, model, HPM, sham-HPM, MEK-inhibitor and dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) groups. The CIVP model was established using an enema mixture of trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid and ethanol. HPM was applied at bilateral Tianshu(ST25) and Qihai(CV6) acupoints in the HPM group, while in the sham-HPM group, moxa cones and herb cakes were only placed on the same points but not ignited. The MEK-inhibitor and DMSO groups received L5-L6 intrathecal injection of U0126 and 30% DMSO, respectively. Abdominal withdrawal reflex(AWR), mechanical withdrawal threshold(MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency(TWL) were applied for the assessment of pain behavior. The colonic tissue was observed under an optical microscope after hematoxylin-eosin staining. Expression of phosphor(p)MEK1, p ERK1/2 and p CREB in rat spinal cord was detected using Western blotting. The levels of MEK, ERK and CREB m RNA in rat spinal cord were detected using real-time polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS Compared with the normal group, the AWR scores were increased significantly(P < 0.01) and the MWT and TWL scores were decreased significantly(P < 0.05) in the model, sham-HPM and DMSO groups. Compared with the model group, the AWR scores were decreased significantly(P < 0.01) and the MWT and TWL scores were increased significantly in the HPM and MEK-inhibitor groups(P < 0.05). Compared with the sham-HPM and DMSO groups, the AWR scores were decreased significantly(P < 0.01) and the MWT and TWL scores were increased significantly(P < 0.05) in the HPM and MEK-inhibitor groups. Compared with the normal group, the expression of p MEK1, p ERK1/2 and p CREB proteins and the levels of MEK, ERK and CREB m RNA in rat spinal cord were increased significantly in the model, sham-HPM and DMSO groups(P < 0.01 or < 0.05). Compared with the model group, the expression of p MEK1, p ERK1/2 and p CREB proteins and the levels of MEK, ERK and CREB m RNA in rat spinal cord were reduced significantly in the HPM and MEK-inhibitor groups(P < 0.01 or < 0.05). Compared with the sham-HPM and DMSO groups, expression of p MEK1, p ERK1/2 and p CREB proteins and the levels of MEK, ERK and CREB m RNA in rat spinal cord were reduced significantly in the HPM and MEK-inhibitor groups(P < 0.01 or < 0.05). | 9 | Effects and mechanisms of fluorite on the co-reduction of blast furnace dust and seaside titanomagnetite显示文摘The co-reduction roasting and grinding-magnetic separation of seaside titanomagnetite and blast furnace dust was investigated with and without fluorite addition at a reduction roasting temperature of 1250°C for 60 min, a grinding fineness of-43 μm accounting for 69.02 wt% of the total, and a low-intensity magnetic field strength of 151 kA/m. The mineral composition, microstructure, and state of the roasted products were analyzed, and the concentrations of CO and CO_2 were analyzed in the co-reduction roasting. Better results were achieved with a small fluorite dosage(≤4 wt%) in the process of co-reduction. In addition, F^- was found to reduce the melting point and viscosity of the slag phase because of the high content of aluminate and silicate minerals in the blast furnace dust. The low moisture content of the blast furnace dust and calcic minerals inhibited the hydrolysis of CaF_2 and the loss of F^-. | 10 | Relationship between fibrinogen levels and cardiovascular events in patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention:a large single-center study显示文摘Background:It is currently unclear if fibrinogen is a risk factor for adverse events in patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)or merely serves as a marker of pre-existing comorbidities and other causal factors.We therefore investigated the association between fibrinogen levels and 2-year all-cause mortality,and compared the additional predictive value of adding fibrinogen to a basic model including traditional risk factors in patients receiving contemporary PCI.Methods:A total of 6293 patients undergoing PCI with measured baseline fibrinogen levels were enrolied from January to December 2013 in Fuwai Hospital.Patients were divided into three groups according to tertiles of baseline fibrinogen levels:low fibrinogen,<2.98 g/L;medium fibrinogen,2.98 to 3.58 g/L;and high fibrinogen,≥3.58 g/L.Independent predictors of 2-year clinical outcomes were determined by multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression modeling.The increased discriminative value of fibrinogen for predicting all-cause mortality was assessed using the C-statistic and integrated discrimination improvement(IDI).Results:The 2-year all-cause mortality rate was 1.2%.It was significantly higher in the high fibrinogen compared with the low and medium fibrinogen groups according to Kaplan-Meier analyses(1.7%vs.0.9%and 1.7%vs.1.0%,respectively;log-rank,P=0.022).Fibrinogen was significantly associated with all-cause mortality according to multivariate Cox regression(hazard ratio 1.339,95%confidence interval:1.109-1.763,P=0.005),together with traditional risk factors including age,sex,diabetes mellitus,left ventricular ejection fraction,creatinine clearance,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.The area under the curve for all-cause mortality in the basic model including traditional risk factors was 0.776,and this value increased to 0.787 when fibrinogen was added to the model(IDI=0.003,Z=0.140,P=0.889).Conclusions:Fibrinogen is associated with 2-year all-cause mortality in patients receiving PCI,but provides no additional information over a model including traditional risk factors. | Ping Jiang Zhan Gao Wei Zhao Ying Song Xiao-Fang Tang Jing-Jing Xu Huan-Huan Wang Lin Jiang Jue Chen Shu-Bin Qiao Yue-Jin Yang Run-Lin Gao Bo Xu Jin-Qing Yuan | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,8: | 7 |

It was found that calcium compounds had great effects on the metallization rate of the reduction product, the order of the metallization rate of reduction product being CaCO3 > no additive > CaSO4 > CaCl2, which indicated that the addition of CaCO3 was more conducive to promoting the reduction of iron than other calcium compounds. Gas analysis showed that there were mainly two processes in the carbothermic reduction of VTC, a solid–solid and a solid–gas reaction. The concentrations of CO and CO2 were highest when CaCO3 was added, while that in a roasting system decreased the most when CaCl2 was added. X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis showed that calcium compounds could change the reduction process of ilmenite in VTC. The phase compositions of the reduction products were changed from metallic iron(Fe) and anosovite(FeTi2O5) to metallic iron(Fe) and perovekite(CaTiO3) when calcium compounds were added. Additionally, CaSO4 and CaCl2 could significantly promote the growth of metallic iron particles, though the existence of Fe-bearing Mg2TiO4 in reduction products was not conducive to the reduction of iron. | 14 | Prognostic Value of NT-proBNP in Stable Coronary Artery Disease in Chinese Patients after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in the Drug-eluting Stent Era显示文摘Objective The predictive value of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) in patients with stable coronary artery disease(SCAD) in the drug-eluting stent era is not yet clear. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of NT-proBNP in SCAD patients after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI). Methods We examined 4,293 consecutive SCAD patients who underwent PCI between January 2013 and December 2013 in Fuwai Hospital, China. The primary endpoint was all-cause death. NT-proBNP levels were measured before PCI using Elisa kits(Biomedica, Austria). The indication for PCI was based on the degree of coronary stenosis and evidence of ischemia. Results Among 3,187 SCAD patients with NT-proBNP data, after a 2-year follow-up, NT-proBNP levels were predictive for all-cause death in the SCAD population [area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, 0.768; 95% confidence interval(CI), 0.687-0.849; P < 0.001]. At the optimum cutoff point of 732 pg/mL, the sensitivity and specificity of death was 75.0% and 72.3%, respectively. In a multivariable Cox regression model, the death hazard ratio was 6.43(95% CI, 2.99-13.82; P < 0.001) for patients with NT-proBNP levels ≥ 732 pg/mL, compared with < 732 pg/mL. Methods:We performed a prospective,observational study of 10,724 patients who underwent PCI in Fuwai hospital,China and evaluated the PARIS thrombotic risk score's predictive value of CTEs in the PCI population.The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC)was used to assess the predictive value of the PARIS score for CTE. Results:Among 9782 patients without in-hospital events,a total of 95 CTEs occurred during the 2-year follow-up.The PARIS score was significantly higher in patients with CTEs (3.384-2.04)compared with patients without events (2.53±1.70,P <0.001). According to the risk stratification of the PARIS thrombotic score,the risk of CTEs in the high-risk group was 3.14 times higher than that in the low-risk group (hazard ratio [HR],3.14;95% confidence interval [CI],1.92-5.13;P <0.001).However,the risk of CTEs in the intermediate-risk and low-risk groups was not significant (HR,1.39;95% CI,[0.86-2.24];P =0.184).The PARIS score showed prognostic value in evaluating CTEs in the overall population (AUROC,0.621;95% CI,0.561-0.681),the acute coronary syndrome (ACS)population (AUROC,0.617;95% CI,0.534-0.700;P =0.003),and the non-ACS population (AUROC,0.647;95% CI,0.558-0.736;P =0.001).
