3Proteomic analysis of human epithelial ovarian cancer xenografts in immunodeficient mice exposed to chronic psychological stress显示文摘This work aims at comparing alterations in the proteomes of human epithelial ovarian cancer xenografts between stressed and non-stressed immunodeficient mice as well as exploring the molecular mechanisms linking chronic psychological stress to ovarian cancer oncogenesis and progression.SK-OV-3 cells were injected subcutaneously into nude mice.The stress group was subjected to a chronic physical restraint protocol for 6 h on 35 consecutive days,while the control group was unrestrained.All mice were sacrificed on day 36 after SK-OV-3 cell injection,and tumors were excised.Tumor tissues were processed for 2D gel electrophoresis,mass spectrometry(nanoUPLC-ESI-MS/MS) and Western blotting.The expression of 20 proteins was found to be significantly altered between the stress and control groups,of which 14 were up-regulated,five were down-regulated,and one protein was found only in the stress group.All proteins were identified by UPLC-ESI-MS/MS,and Western blotting results were consistent with those of proteomic methods.The present results provide new evidence relating to the molecular mechanism underlying the relationship between psychological stress and tumor progression.GAO Jun GAO GuoLan ZHANG YanYu WANG Fen 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,2:11
4Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 6Enhancement of innate immune system in monocot rice by transferring the dicotyledonous elongation factor Tu receptor EFR显示文摘The elongation factor Tu(EF-Tu) receptor(EFR) in cruciferous plants specifically recognizes the N-terminal acetylated elf18 region of bacterial EF-Tu and thereby activates plant immunity.It has been demonstrated that Arabidopsis EFR confers broad-spectrum bacterial resistance in the EFR transgenic solanaceous plants.Here,the transgenic rice plants(Oryza sativa L.ssp.japonica cv.Zhonghua 17) and cell cultures with constitutive expression of AtEFR were developed to investigate whether AtEFR senses EF-Tu and thus enhances bacterial resistance in the monocot plants.We demonstrated that the Xanthomonas oryzae-derived elf18 peptide induced oxidative burst and mitogen-activated protein kinase activation in the AtEFR transgenic rice cells and plants,respectively.Pathogenesis-related genes,such as OsPBZ1,were upregulated dramatically in transgenic rice plant and cell lines in response to elf18 stimulation.Importantly,pretreatment with elf18 triggered strong resistance to X.oryzae pv.oryzae in the transgenic plants,which was largely dependent on the AtEFR expression level.These plants also exhibited enhanced resistance to rice bacterial brown stripe,but not to rice fungal blast.Collectively,the results indicate that the rice plants with heterologous expression of AtEFR recognize bacterial EF-Tu and exhibit enhanced broad-spectrum bacterial disease resistance and that pattern recognition receptor-mediated immunity may be manipulated across the two plant classes,dicots and monocots.Fen Lu Huiqin Wang Shanzhi Wang Wendi Jiang Changlin Shan Bin Li Jun Yang Shiyong Zhang Wenxian Sun 2015Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015,57,7:6
7Validity and Reliability of Chinese Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children Aged 10-17 Years显示文摘Objective This study is aimed to report the development,the reliability and validity of the Chinese Children Physical Activity Questionnaire(CCPAQ)which was designed for the assessment of physical activity pattern in young population in China.Methods The CCPAQ was administered for two times in 119 children(mean age 13.1±2.4 years;boys 47%)to examine reliability by using intraclass correlation coefficients.Validity was determined in 106 participants by agreement with the CCPAQ measures and the objective method,the ActiGraph accelerometer.Data on physical activity patter n including time spe nt on d iff ere nt intensi ties and total physical activity,sedentary behavior as well as physical activity energy expenditure were used to assess the validity with Spearman's correlation coefficient and the Bland-Altman plots.Results The reliability coefficient of the CCPAQ ranged from 0.63-0.93(Intra-class correlation coefficient).Spearman's correlation coefficient for validity of time spent on total physical activity and sedentary behavior were all 0.32(P<0.001),and for physical activity energy expenditure was 0.58(P<0.001).Time spent on moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and light physical activity showed a relatively low correlation with the accelerometer(rho=0.20,P=0.040;rho=0.19,P=0.054).Conclusion The CCPAQ appears to be a promising and feasible method to assess physical activity pattern in Chinese children.YANG Xi JAGO Russell ZHAI Yi YANG Zhen Yu WANG Yu Ying SI Xiang WANG Jun GAO Jian Fen CHEN Jing Ron YU Ying Jie ZHAO Wen Hua 2019Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,9:6
8From 30 million to zero malaria cases in China: lessons learned for China-Africa collaboration in malaria elimination显示文摘Malaria was once one of the most serious public health problems in China,with more than 30 million malaria cases annually before 1949.However,the disease burden has sharply declined and the epidemic areas has shrunken after the implementation of an integrated malaria control and elimination strategy,especially since 2000.Till now,China has successfully scaled up its efforts to become malaria-free and is currently being evaluated for malaria-free certification by the WHO.In the battle against malaria,China's efforts have spanned generations,reducing from an incidence high of 122.9/10000(6.97 million cases)in 1954 to 0.06/10000(7855 cases)in 2010.In 2017,for the first time,China reached zero indigenous case of malaria,putting the country on track to record three consecutive years of zero transmission by 2020,accoding to the National Malaria Elimination Action Plan(2010-2020).China's efforts to eliminate malaria is impressive,and the country is dedicated to sharing its lessons learned in malaria elimination-including,but not limited to,the application of novel genetics-based approaches-with other nations through new initiatives.China will promote international relationships and establish collaborative platforms on a wide range of topics in roughly 65 countries,including 20 African nations.China's experience in applying innovative genetics-based approaches and tools to characterize malaria parasite populations,including surveillance of markers related to drug resistance,categorization of cases as indigenous or imported,and objective identification of the likely sources of infections to inform efforts towards malaria control and elimination in Africa could offer game-changing results when applied to settings with ongoing transmission.Jun-Hu Chen Jun Fen Xiao-Nong Zhou 2021Infectious Diseases of Poverty2021,10,2:5

11Analysis of the cause of crack in cold rolling of QSn6.5-0.1 strip显示文摘In order to know the cause of cracks in cold rolling of QSn6.5 0.1 copper alloy strip, a lot of experiments and analysis were done. The microstructure changes of QSn6.5 0.1 were investigated by means of metallurgical microscope. The morphology of cracks and surface defects were examined using scanning electron microscope. Macroscopic residual stresses produced in every process during manufacturing in the QSn6.5 0.1 strip were measured by X ray diffraction method and hole drilling method. The results show that the cracks in the QSn6.5 0.1 cold rolling strip were caused due to the derivation of metallurgical defects, such as SnO 2, S, fine looses,the inverse segregation unable to clear up when milling, and the accumulation of all kinds of resi dual stresses. When the accumulation of the residual stress reaches the material′s breaking strength, the cracks will be generated. 12Genetic variation in alkaloid accumulation in leaves of Nicotiana显示文摘Alkaloids are plant secondary metabolites that are widely distributed in Nicotiana species and contribute greatly to the quality of tobacco leaves. Some alkaloids, such as nornicotine and myosmine, have adverse effects on human health. To reduce the content of harmful alkaloids in tobacco leaves through conventional breeding, a genetic study of the alkaloid variation among different genotypes is required. In this study, alkaloid profiles in leaves of five Nicotiana tabacum cultivars and Nicotiana tomentosiformis were investigated. Six alkaloids were identified from all six genotypes via gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Significant differences in alkaloid content were observed both among different leaf positions and among cultivars. The contents of nornicotine and myosmine were positively and significantly correlated(R2=0.881), and were also separated from those of other alkaloids by clustering. 13Dynamic monitoring of menopause hormone therapy and defining the cut-off value of endometrial thickness during uterine bleeding显示文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of low-dose tibolone therapy on ovarian area,uterine volume and endometrial thickness,and define the cut-off value of endometrial thickness for curettage during uterine bleeding.We followed 619 postmenopausal women,aged 40-60 years,for two years.There were 301 subjects in the low-dose tibolone treatment group and 318 subjects in the control group.The ovarian area,uterine volume and endometrial thickness in all participants were measured by transvaginal ultrasound prior to,one and two years post enrollment,respectively.Endometrial specimens were collected from all subjects with abnormal uterine bleeding during the follow-up period.We found that the uterine volume in the treatment group was greater than that in the control group,and the difference was significant(P<0.05),but there were no significant differences in ovarian area and endometrial thickness between the two groups(P>0.05).When the cut-off value for endometrial thickness was 7.35 mm,the sensitivity and specificity were 100%and 79.07%,respectively,and 85.71%and 93.02%when 7.55 mm was set as the cut-off during tibolone therapy.The results indicate that low-dose tibolone therapy may postpone uterine atrophy and the cut-off value of endometrial thickness may be appropriately adjusted for curettage.Qiu Sheng Jun Yang Qiaoling Zhao Fen Li 2016The Journal of Biomedical Research2016,30,3:3

19Evaluation of a deep-learning model for multispectral remote sensing of land use and crop classification显示文摘High-resolution deep-learning-based remote-sensing imagery analysis has been widely used in land-use and crop-classification mapping. However, the influence of composite feature bands, including complex feature indices arising from different sensors on the backbone, patch size, and predictions in transferable deep models require further testing. The experiments were conducted in six sites in Henan province from2019 to 2021. This study sought to enable the transfer of classification models across regions and years for Sentinel-2 A(10-m resolution) and Gaofen PMS(2-m resolution) imagery. With feature selection and up-sampling of small samples, the performance of UNet++ architecture on five backbones and four patch sizes was examined. Joint loss, mean Intersection over Union(m Io U), and epoch time were analyzed, and the optimal backbone and patch size for both sensors were Timm-Reg Net Y-320 and 256 × 256, respectively. The overall accuracy and Fscores of the Sentinel-2 A predictions ranged from 96.86% to 97.72%and 71.29% to 80.75%, respectively, compared to 75.34%–97.72% and 54.89%–73.25% for the Gaofen predictions. The accuracies of each site indicated that patch size exerted a greater influence on model performance than the backbone. The feature-selection-based predictions with UNet++ architecture and upsampling of minor classes demonstrated the capabilities of deep-learning generalization for classifying complex ground objects, offering improved performance compared to the UNet, Deeplab V3+, Random Forest, and Object-Oriented Classification models. In addition to the overall accuracy, confusion matrices,precision, recall, and F1 scores should be evaluated for minor land-cover types.
