1Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. 2Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 3The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components.The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. 6Effects of a Multivitamin/multimineral Supplement on Young Males with Physical Overtraining: A Placebo-controlled, Randomized, Double-blinded Cross-over Trial显示文摘Objective To investigate the effects of vitamin-mineral supplement on young males with physical overtraining. Methods Two hundred and forty male Chinese field artillery personnel who undertook large scale and endurance military training and were on ordinary Chinese diet were randomized to receive a multivitamin/multimineral supplement or a placebo for 1 week. After a 1-week wash-out period, a cross-over with 1 week course of a placebo or multivitamin/multimineral supplement was conducted. Blood and urine samples were analyzed for adrenal, gonadal and thyroid hormones. In addition, cellular immune parameters (CD3+, CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8+, CD4/CD8, CD3-CD56+, CD3-CD19+) were examined and psychological tests were performed before and after the training program and nutrition intervention. Results After a large scale and endurance military training, the participants showed significantly increased thyroid function, decreased adrenal cortex, testosterone and immunological function, and significantly increased somatization, anger and tension. Compared to placebo, multivitamin/ multimineral intervention showed significant effects on functional recovery of the pituitary-adrenal axis, pituitary-gonadal axis, pituitary-thyroid axis and immune system as well as psychological parameters. Conclusion High-intensity military operations have significant impacts on the psychology, physical ability and neuroendocrine-immune system in young males. 7Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. 18The Correlation Analysis of NRS 2002,Patient-generated Subjective Global Assessment,Prealbumin,Transferrin,and Handgrip Strength in Nutritional Screening and Evaluation in Patients with Gastric Cancer显示文摘Objective The present study was designed to explore the correlations between prealbumin(PA),transferrin(TF),handgrip strength and nutrition risk screening tool 2002(NRS 2002),patient-generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA)in preoperative nutritional screening and evaluation in gastric cancer patients.Methods 132 cases of gastric cancer patients undergoing surgical treatment from May 2015 to January 2018 were screened and evaluated by NRS 2002 and PG-SGA within 48 h after admission,and the PA,TF and handgrip strength were measured for each patient.Results The levels of PA,TF,and handgrip strength in the nutritional risk group(NRS 2002≥3)and the malnutrition group(PG-SGA≥4)were significantly lower than that in non-nutrition risk group(NRS 2002<3)and non-malnutrition group(PG-SGA<4).The levels of PA,TF,and handgrip strength of preoperative patients were negatively correlated with NRS 2002 and PG-SGA scores(P<0.05).NRS 2002 and PG-SGA scores were positively correlated(r=0.712,P<0.01).Conclusion The preoperative nutritional risk and malnutrition rate in patients with gastric cancer are high.The combined application of PA,TF,handgrip strength,NRS 2002,and PG-SGA is more helpful for nutritional screening and assessment in gastric cancer patients.Gui Bin Li Xiang Hua Wu Dao Lai Huang Yu Ju Xu Kui Jia Jing Zhou Li Sheng Lu Wen Xiang Zhu Feng Xi Li Yong Sheng Zhang Jing Jin Ke Ke Huang 2018Journal of Nutritional Oncology2018,3,1:0
