| 1 | Geographical characteristics of China’s wetlands derived from remotely sensed data显示文摘In this paper, we report the first wetland mapping of the entire China using Landsat enhanced thematic mapper plus (ETM+) data. These data were obtained from the Global Land Cover Facility at the University of Maryland spanning from 1999 to 2002. A total of 597 scenes of Landsat images were georeferenced and mosaiced. Manual image interpretation of satellite images was aided with elevation data, soil data, land cover/land use data and Google Earth. The minimum mapping unit is 10 pixel × 10 pixel, equivalent to 9 ha. The aim of our first round of mapping was only targeted at the boundary delineation of any type of wetland except those wetlands that are under agricultural use (i.e., paddy fields), which has already been well mapped by others. Our interpretation results indicate that a total of 359478 km2 of wetlands are of non-agricultural use. Among our preliminarily mapped wetland, 339353 km2 are inland wetland, 2786 km2 are non-agricultural artificial wetland, and 17609 km2 are coastal wetland. Because low-tide is rarely captured in satellite images, an under-estimation of coastal wetland is inevitable. We conducted some statistics based on our mapped wetlands and compared them with those previously obtained from a number of sources including a land cover/land use map made with satellite images during the late 1990s and early 2000s, a marshland map developed in approximately the same period, survey data of coastal wetland in early 1980s, and area data for approximately 400 larger patches of marshland in China compiled in 1996. Because some inconsistencies exist in the guidelines of those different wetland surveys, difference in area is expected. Some further comparison indicates that the wetland distributions derived from the preliminary wetland map are reasonable and more objective than other sources. The mapping process also indicated that the method adopted by us was efficient and cost-effective. We also found that in order to ensure comparability of the wetland maps developed at different times, a set of standard guidelines on the wetland categories to be mapped, and the mapping methods to be used must be well conceived, developed and effectively employed. | 2 | Normal Structure and Function of Endothecium Chloroplasts Maintained by ZmMs33-Mediated Lipid Biosynthesis in Tapetal Cells Are Critical for Anther Development in Maize显示文摘Genic male sterility(GMS)is critical for heterosis utilization and hybrid seed production.Although GMS mutants and genes have been studied extensively in plants,it has remained unclear whether chloroplast-associated photosynthetic and metabolic activities are involved in the regulation of anther development.In this study,we characterized the function of ZmMs33/ZmGPAT6,which encodes a member of the glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase(GPAT)family that catalyzes the first step of the glycerolipid synthetic pathway.We found that normal structure and function of endothecium(En)chloroplasts maintained by ZmMs33-mediated lipid biosynthesis in tapetal cells are crucial for maize anther development.ZmMs33 is expressed mainly in the tapetum at early anther developmental stages and critical for cell proliferation and expansion at late stages.Chloroplasts in En cells of wild-type anthers function as starch storage sites before stage 10 but as photosynthetic factories since stage 10 to enable starch metabolism and carbohydrate supply.Loss of ZmMs33 function inhibits the biosynthesis of glycolipids and phospholipids,which are major components of En chloroplast membranes,and disrupts the development and function of En chloroplasts,resulting in the formation of abnormal En chloroplasts containing numerous starch granules.Further analyses reveal that starch synthesis during the day and starch degradation at night are greatly suppressed in the mutant anthers,leading to carbon starvation and low energy status,as evidenced by low trehalose-6-phosphate content and a reduced ATP/AMP ratio.The energy sensor and inducer of autophagy,SnRK1,was activated to induce early and excessive autophagy,premature PCD,and metabolic reprogramming in tapetal cells,finally arresting the elongation and development of mutant anthers.Taken together,our results not only show that ZmMs33 is required for normal structure and function of En chloroplasts but also reveal that starch metabolism and photosynthetic activities of En chloroplasts at different developmental stages are essential for normal anther development.These findings provide novel insights for understanding how lipid biosynthesis in the tapetum,the structure and function of En chloroplasts,and energy and substance metabolism are coordinated to maintain maize anther development. | Taotao Zhu Ziwen Li Xueli An Yan Long Xiaofeng Xue Ke Xie Biao Ma Danfeng Zhang Yijian Guan Canfang Niu Zhenying Dong Quancan Hou Lina Zhao Suowei Wu Jinping Li Weiwei Jin Xiangyuan Wan | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,11: | 9 |

| 5 | Phylogenetic Analysis of the Dengue Virus Strains Causing the 2019 Dengue Fever Outbreak in Hainan,China显示文摘Dengue virus is an arthropod-borne pathogen that is transmitted to humans primarily by Aedes spp.mosquitos,causing the acute infectious disease,dengue fever(DF).Until 2019,no dengue outbreak had been reported in Hainan Province for over 20 years.However,in early September of 2019,an increasing number of infected cases appeared and the DF outbreak lasted for over one month in Haikou City,Hainan Province.In our study,we collected 97 plasma samples from DF patients at three hospitals,as well as 1585 mosquito larvae samples from puddles in different areas of Haikou.There were 49(50.5%)plasma samples found to be strongly positive and 9(9.3%)plasma samples were weakly positive against the NS1 antigen.We discovered DENV both in the patient's plasma samples and mosquito larvae samples,and isolated the virus from C6/36 cells inoculated with the acute phase serum of patients.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the new strains were the most closely related to the epidemic strain in the southern regions of China,belonging to lineageⅣ,genotypeⅠ,DENV-1.Compared to the seven closest strains from neighboring countries and provinces,a total of 18 amino acid mutations occurred in the coding sequences(CDS)of the new isolated strain,DENV1 HMU-HKU-2.Our data shows that dengue virus is re-emerged in Hainan,and pose new threats for public health.Thus regular molecular epidemiological surveillance is necessary for control and prevention of DENV transmission. | Jiang Du Liyuan Zhang Xiaoyuan Hu Ruoyan Peng Gaoyu Wang Yi Huang Wenqi Wang Kunliang Wu Qiang Wang Haoxiang Su Fan Yang Yun Zhang Chuanning Tang Xiuji Cui Lina Niu Gang Lu Meifang Xiao Yongguo Du Feifei Yin | 2021 | Virologica Sinica2021,36,4: | 2 |
| 6 | Interfacial engineering of printable bottom back metal electrodes for full-solution processed flexible organic solar cells显示文摘Printing of metal bottom back electrodes of flexible organic solar cells(FOSCs) at low temperature is of great significance to realize the full-solution fabrication technology. However, this has been difficult to achieve because often the interfacial properties of those printed electrodes, including conductivity, roughness, work function,optical and mechanical flexibility, cannot meet the device requirement at the same time. In this work, we fabricate printed Ag and Cu bottom back cathodes by a low-temperature solution technique named polymer-assisted metal deposition(PAMD) on flexible PET substrates. Branched polyethylenimine(PEI) and ZnO thin films are used as the interface modification layers(IMLs) of these cathodes. Detailed experimental studies on the electrical, mechanical, and morphological properties, and simulation study on the optical properties of these IMLs are carried out to understand and optimize the interface of printed cathodes. We demonstrate that the highest power conversion efficiency over 3.0% can be achieved from a full-solution processed OFSC with the device structure being PAMDAg/PEI/P3 HT:PC_(61)BM/PH1000. | 20 | Variations of Raindrop Size Distribution and Radar Retrieval in Outer Rainbands of Typhoon Mangkhut(2018)显示文摘The evolution of the microphysical properties of raindrops from Typhoon Mangkhut’s outer rainbands as the storm made landfall in South China in September 2018 was investigated.The observations by three two-dimensional video disdrometers deployed in central Guangdong Province were analyzed concurrently.It was found that the radial distribution of the median volume diameter(D_(0))and normalized intercept parameter(N_(w))varied in different stages,and that raindrops smaller than 3.0 mm contributed more than 99%of the total precipitation.Considering the characteristics of precipitation in the typhoon outer rainband,a modified stratiform rain(SR)-convective rain(CR)separator line is proposed based on D_(0) and N_(w) scatterplots.Meanwhile,an“S-C likelihood index”is introduced,which was used to classify three rain types(SR,CR,and mixed rain).The CR results were highly consistent with those of the improved typhoon precipitation classification method based on rain rate.By calculating effectively the radar reflectivity factor(Ze)in the Ku and Ka bands,D0-Ze and N_(w)-D_(0) empirical relations were thereby derived for improving the accuracy of rainfall retrieval.Among the four quantitative precipitation estimators using S-band dual-polarimetric radar parameters simulated by the T-matrix method,the estimator that adopted the specific differential phase and differential reflectivity was found to be the most effective for both SR and CR. | Jingjing LYU Huiwen XIAO Yuchun DU Lina SHA Yuqing DENG Weikai JIA Shengjie NIU Yue ZHOU Guqian PANG | 2022 | Journal of Meteorological Research2022,36,3: | 0 |
