1Genetic characterization and linkage disequilibrium mapping of resistance to gray leaf spot in maize(Zea mays L.)显示文摘Gray leaf spot(GLS),caused by Cercospora zeae-maydis,is an important foliar disease of maize(Zea mays L.)worldwide,resistance to which is controlled by multiple quantitative trait loci(QTL).To gain insights into the genetic architecture underlying the resistance to this disease,an association mapping population consisting of 161 inbred lines was evaluated for resistance to GLS in a plant pathology nursery at Shenyang in 2010 and 2011.Subsequently,a genome-wide association study,using 41,101 single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs),identified 51 SNPs significantly(P<0.001)associated with GLS resistance,which could be converted into 31 QTL.In addition,three candidate genes related to plant defense were identified,including nucleotidebinding-site/leucine-rich repeat,receptor-like kinase genes similar to those involved in basal defense.Two genic SNPs,PZE-103142893 and PZE-109119001,associated with GLS resistance in chromosome bins 3.07 and 9.07,can be used for marker-assisted selection(MAS)of GLS resistance.These results provide an important resource for developing molecular markers closely linked with the target trait,enhancing breeding efficiency.Liyu Shi Xiangling Lv Jianfeng Weng Hanyong Zhu Changlin Liu Zhuanfang Hao Yu Zhou Degui Zhang Mingshun Li Xiaoke Ci Xinhai Li Shihuang Zhang 2014The Crop Journal2014,2,Z1:9
2Predictive factors associated with gefitinib response in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC)显示文摘Purpose: A number of different clinical characteristics have been reported to singly correlate with therapeutic activity of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC). This study aimed to identify predictive factors associated with prognostic benefits of gefitinib.Patients and methods: EGFR gene typing in 33 advanced NSCLC patients received gefitinib(250 mg/day) were analyzed with mutant-enriched PCR assay. Gefitinib response was evaluated with potential predictive factors retrospectively.Results: The overall objective response rate(ORR) and median progression-free survival(PFS) in the 33 patients treated by gefitinib were 45.5% and 3.0(2.0-4.0) months. The ORR and median PFS in EGFR gene mutation patients were significantly higher/longer than those in EGFR gene wild-type patients(P<0.01). Similarly, the ORR and median PFS in non-smoker patients were significantly higher/longer than those in smoker patients(P<0.05, P<0.01, respectively). However, no difference for ORR and median PFS occurred between male and female patients. Logistic multivariate analysis showed that only EGFR mutated gene was significantly associated with the ORR(P<0.01). Both EGFR mutated gene and non-smoker were the major factors that contributed to PFS(P<0.05). 4Combination therapy of thiamine,vitamin C and hydrocortisone in treating patients with sepsis and septic shock:a meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis显示文摘Background:The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of thiamine and vitamin C with or without hydrocortisone coadministration on the treatment of sepsis and septic shock.Methods:MEDLINE,EMBASE and CENTRAL databases were searched for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that made a comparative study between the combination therapy of vitamin C and thiamine with or without hydrocortisone and the administration of placebo in patients with sepsis or septic shock.Two reviewers independently performed study selection,data extraction and quality assessment.Both short-term mortality and change in the sequential organ failure assessment(SOFA)score from baseline(delta SOFA)were set as the primary outcomes.Secondary endpoints included intensive care unit(ICU)mortality,new onset of acute kidney injury,total adverse events,ICU and hospital length of stay,duration of vasopressor usage and ventilator-free days.Meanwhile,trial sequential analysis was conducted for primary outcomes.Results:Eight RCTs with 1428 patients were included in the current study.The results showed no significant reduction of short-term mortality in sepsis and septic shock patients who received combination therapy of vitamin C and thiamine with or without hydrocortisone compared to those with placebo{risk ratio(RR),1.02[95%confidence interval(CI),0.87 to 1.20],p=0.81,I2=0%;risk difference(RD),0[95%CI,−0.04 to 0.05]}.Nevertheless,the combination therapy was associated with significant reduction in SOFA score[mean difference(MD),−0.63,(95%CI,−0.96 to−0.29,p<0.001,I^(2)=0%]and vasopressors duration(MD,−22.11[95%CI,−30.46 to−13.77],p<0.001,I2=6%).Additionally,there were no statistical differences in the pooled estimate for other outcomes.Conclusions:In the current meta-analysis,the combination therapy of vitamin C and thiamine,with or without hydrocortisone had no impact on short-term mortality when compared with placebo,but was associated with significant reduction in SOFA score among patients with sepsis and septic shock.Renqi Yao Yibing Zhu Yue Yu Zhixuan Li Lixue Wang Liyu Zheng Jingyan Li Huibin Huang Guosheng Wu Feng Zhu Zhaofan Xia Chao Ren Yongming Yao 2021Burns & Trauma2021,9,1:2
5Recent advanced development of stabilizing sodium metal anodes显示文摘As the application of next-generation energy storage systems continues to expand,rechargeable secondary batteries with enhanced energy density and safety are imperative for energy iteration.Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have attracted extensive attention and are recognized as ideal candidates for large-scale energy storage due to the abundant sodium resources and low cost.Sodium metal anodes(SMAs)have been considered as one of the most attractive anode materials for SIBs owing to their high specific capacity(1166 mAh g^(-1)),low redox potential,and abundant natural resources.However,the uncontrollable dendrite growth and inevitable side reactions on SMA lead to the continuous deterioration of the electrochemical performance,causing serious safety concerns and limiting their practical application in the future.Therefore,the construction of stable dendrite-free SMAs is a pressing problem for advanced sodium metal batteries(SMBs).In this review,we comprehensively summarize the research progress in suppressing the formation of sodium dendrite,including artificial solid electrolyte interphase(SEI),liquid electrolyte modification,three-dimensional(3D)host materials,and solid-state electrolyte.Additionally,key aspects and prospects of future research directions for SMAs are highlighted.We hope that this timely review can provide an overall picture of sodium protection strategies and stimulate more research in the future.Liyu Zhu Yucheng Li Jingyang Zhao Jing Liu Luying Wang Jiandu Lei 2023Green Energy & Environment2023,8,5:1
6Research on coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical dynamic response characteristics of saturated porous deep-sea sediments under vibration of mining vehicle显示文摘The excessive deformation of deep-sea sediments caused by the vibration of the mining machine will adversely affect the efficiency and safety of mining.Combined with the deep-sea environment,the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical problem for saturated porous deep-sea sediments subject to the vibration of the mining vehicle is investigated.Based on the Green-Lindsay(G-L)generalized thermoelastic theory and Darcy’s law,the model of thermo-hydro-mechanical dynamic responses for saturated porous deep-sea sediments under the vibration of the mining vehicle is established.We obtain the analytical solutions of non-dimensional vertical displacement,excess pore water pressure,vertical stress,temperature,and change in the volume fraction field with the normal mode analysis method,and depict them graphically.The normal mode analysis method uses the canonical coordinate transformation to solve the equation,which can quickly decouple the equation by ignoring the modal coupling effect on the basis of the canonical mode.The results indicate that the vibration frequency has obvious influence on the vertical displacement,excess pore water pressure,vertical stress,and change in volume fraction field.The loading amplitude has a great effect on the physical quantities in the foundation,and the changes of the physical quantities increase with the increase in loading amplitude.Wei ZHU Xinyu SHI Rong HUANG Liyue HUANG Wenbo MA 2021Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2021,42,9:1

13Predicting the pathological status of mammographic microcalcifications through a radiomics approach显示文摘Objective The study aimed to develop a machine learning(ML)-coupled interpretable radiomics signature to predict the pathological status of non-palpable suspicious breast microcalcifications(MCs).Methods We enrolled 463 digital mammographical view images from 260 consecutive patients detected with non-palpable MCs and BI-RADS scored at 4(training cohort,n=428;independent testing cohort,n=35)in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between September 2010 and January 2019.Subsequently,837 textures and 9 shape features were subsequently extracted from each view and finally selected by an XGBoostembedded recursive feature elimination technique(RFE),followed by four machine learning-based classifiers to build the radiomics signature.Results Ten radiomic features constituted a malignancy-related signature for breast MCs as logistic regression(LR)and support vector machine(SVM)yielded better positive predictive value(PPV)/sensitivity(SE),0.904(95%CI,0.865–0.949)/0.946(95%CI,0.929–0.977)and 0.891(95%CI,0.822–0.939)/0.939(95%CI,0.907–0.973)respectively,outperforming their negative predictive value(NPV)/specificity(SP)from 10-fold crossvalidation(10FCV)of the training cohort.The optimal prognostic model was obtained by SVM with an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.906(95%CI,0.834–0.969)and accuracy(ACC)0.787(95%CI,0.680–0.855)from 10FCV against AUC 0.810(95%CI,0.760–0.960)and ACC 0.800 from the testing cohort.Conclusion The proposed radiomics signature dependens on a set of ML-based advanced computational algorithms and is expected to identify pathologically cancerous cases from mammographically undecipherable MCs and thus offer prospective clinical diagnostic guidance.Min Li Liyu Zhu Guangquan Zhou Jianan He Yanni Jiang Yang Chen 2021Intelligent Medicine2021,1,3:0

17Alternating current stimulation promotes neurite outgrowth and plasticity in neurons through activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway显示文摘As a commonly used physical intervention,electrical stimulation(ES)has been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of central nervous system disorders.Currently,researchers are studying the effects of electrical stimu-lation on individual neurons and neural networks,which are dependent on factors such as stimulation intensity,duration,location,and neuronal properties.However,the exact mechanism of action of electrical stimulation remains unclear.In some cases,repeated or prolonged electrical stimulation can lead to changes in the morphology or function of the neuron.In this study,immunofluorescence staining and Sholl analysis are used to assess changes in the neurite number and axon length to determine the optimal pattern and stimulation parameters of ES for neurons.Neuronal death and plasticity are detected by TUNEL staining and microelectrode array assays,respec-tively.mRNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis are applied to predict the key targets of the action of ES on neurons,and the identified targets are validated by western blot analysis and qRT-PCR.The effects of alternating current stimulation(ACS)on neurons are more significant than those of direct current stimulation(DCS),and the optimal parameters are 3μA and 20 min.ACS stimulation significantly increases the number of neurites,the length of axons and the spontaneous electrical activity of neurons,significantly elevates the expression of growth-asso-ciated protein-43(GAP-43)without significant changes in the expression of neurotrophic factors.Furthermore,application of PI3K/AKT-specific inhibitors significantly abolishes the beneficial effects of ACS on neurons,con-firming that the PI3K/AKT pathway is an important potential signaling pathway in the action of ACS.Hao Zhong Cong Xing Mi Zhou Zeyu Jia Song Liu Shibo Zhu Bo Li Hongjiang Yang Hongpeng Ma Liyue Wang Rusen Zhu Zhigang Qu Guangzhi Ning 2023Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2023,55,11:0

20Examined lymph node numbers influence prognosis in rectal cancer treated with neoadjuvant therapy显示文摘Background:The number of lymph nodes examined(LNe)is often insufficient in patients with rectal cancer(RC)treated with neoadjuvant therapy;however,its prognostic value remains controversial.Thus,we retrospectively explored whether LNe had an influence on staging and prognosis and investigated whether there was a cut-off value for better prognosis in patients with RC treated with neoadjuvant therapy.Methods:Data were collected from seven prospective hospital databases in China from July 2002 to May 2018.Binary logistic regression models were used to predict lymph node metastasis.The cut-off value for LNe was determined using X-tile 3.6.1.Survival outcomes and risk factors were analyzed using the log-rank test and Cox regression model.Results:A total of 482 patients were included,of whom 459 had complete overall survival(OS)information.Using the percentile method,the total number of lymph nodes examined(TLNe)was 14-16(40th-60th percentile),and the proportion of patients with lymph node metastasis reached a maximum of 48.1%.Cox multivariate analysis showed that the odds ratio(OR)remained the highest when TLNe was 14-16(OR=3.379,P=0.003).The 3-year and 5-year OS were 85.4% and 77.8%,respectively.Negative lymph nodes examined(NLNe)of≤6 was an independent risk factor for 3-year and 5-year OS(3-year OS 71.1%vs.85.9%,P=0.004;5-year OS 66.3%vs.74.3%,P=0.035).Subgroup analysis for patients with ypN+showed that higher 3-year and 5-year OS were achieved when the TLNe was>10,78.8%vs.54.0%(P=0.005),and 60.8%vs.36.0%(P=0.012),respectively.Patients with ypN0M0 had a higher 5-year OS when the TLNe was>19(P=0.055).Conclusion:The TLNe and NLNe influenced the staging accuracy and demonstrated prognostic value in patients with RC treated with neoadjuvant therapy.Liyu Zhu Lin Wang Zhidong Gao Yujian Zeng Kaixiong Tao Quan Wang Xinming Li Huanhu Zhang Zhanlong Shen Jing Zhou Kai Shen Yingjiang Ye Aiwen Wu 2023Cancer Pathogenesis and Therapy2023,1,3:0
