| 3 | Left posterior fascicular block: a new endpoint of ablation for verapamil-sensitive idiopathic ventricular tachycardia显示文摘Background Verapamil-sensitive, idiopathic left ventricular tachycardia (ILVT) with right bundle branch block configuration and left-axis deviation is known to be due to re-entry mechanism but the exact nature of reentrant circuit in ILVT is not fully elucidated. Radiofrequency (RF) ablation was applied during ventricular tachycardia (VT) and termination of the VT or abolishing the inducibility of the tachycardia was used as an endpoint for successful RF. In this study, the left posterior fascicular block in surface electrocardiogram (ECG) was used as a new endpoint of ablation to cure ILVT. Methods Electrophysiological studies and radiofrequency ablation were performed in 39 consecutive patients [30 men, 9 women; age ranging from 10 to 64 years, mean (29±16) years] with verapamil-sensitive ILVT and structurally normal hearts. VT could be terminated by the intravenous administration of verapamil in all patients. The target site was the midseptum of LV where the earliest Purkinje potentials were recorded during VT. RF current was applied to the target site with or without late diastolic potential (LDP) during sinus rhythm in 37 patients and during VT in 2 patients to meet the ablation endpoint: the left posterior fascicular block in the surface ECG. Results Thirty-seven patients with ILVT had been treated by RF ablation during sinus rhythm and two had been treated during VT. All of them met the endpoint of the left posterior fascicular block. Thirty-eight cases were symptom-free without medications during the follow-up period (range from 3 to 95 months, median 17 months). One patient developed a clinical recurrence and the left posterior fascicular block in surface ECG disappeared. The patient received another treatment. The endpoint was met and the procedure was successful. Conclusions The left posterior fascicular block in surface ECG used as an endpoint of RF ablation to treat ILVT is effective. It is important especially in those patients whose VT can not be induced or the inducible condition is unstable. | 5 | Near-diffraction-limited linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser with record kilowatt output显示文摘In this paper, we propose and experimentally investigate a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser(RFL) operating at 1080 nm and boost the output power to kilowatt level with near-diffraction-limited beam quality using a master oscillation power amplifier. The RFL based on a half-opened cavity, which is composed of a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth fiber Bragg grating and a 500 m piece of polarization-maintained Ge-doped fiber, generates a 0.71 W seed laser with an 88 pm full width at half-maximum(FWHM) linewidth and a 22.5 dB polarization extinction ratio(PER) for power scaling. A two-stage fiber amplifier enhances the seed laser to the maximal 1.01 k W with a PER value of 17 dB and a beam quality of M_x^2=1.15 and M_y^2=1.13. | 9 | Development status of high power fiber lasers and their coherent beam combination显示文摘High-power fiber laser has been emerged great potential in a wide range of applications and becomes a robust candidate for high energy solid state laser system. To further increase the output brightness of single-channel fiber laser, high-brightness pump sources and high-power-handling passive components should be fabricated and utilized in the fiber laser systems, in addition to the advanced techniques for multiple nonlinear effects managements. The state-of-the-art high power fiber lasers are reviewed, in terms of narrow-linewidth fiber lasers, broadband fiber lasers and fiber lasers at 2 μm. Coherent beam combining is a promising technique to obtain higher output power while maintaining excellent beam quality simultaneously,which breaks through the bottlenecks of single-channel fiber laser. Based on a series of key techniques for coherent beam combining, high-power coherent beam combining of fiber lasers could be enabled with high combining efficiency. In this paper, we review the progress of high-power fiber lasers and their coherent beam combining in the recent decade, particularly the relevant work in our group. | 12 | Expression of Bmi-1 and PAI-1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To determine the correlation between invasiveness,migration and prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and expression of the B-cellspecific Moloney leukemia virus insert site 1(Bmi-1)and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1).METHODS:Eighty previously untreated patients who underwent surgical excision of ESCC were included.The expression of Bmi-1 and PAI-1 was examined immunohistochemically in formalin-fixed paraffinembedded primary tissue specimens.The relationships between the expression of Bmi-1 and PAI-1,the clinicopathologic features of ESCC,and the survival rate of ESCC patients were also discussed.The correlation between Bmi-1 and PAI-1 protein expression in ESCC was analyzed.The relationship between Bmi-1 and PAI-1expression and ESCC prognosis was evaluated using a Cox regression model and Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis.RESULTS:The rates of positive Bmi-1 and PAI-1 expression in ESCC were higher than those in normal esophageal tissue(P<0.05).The expression of Bmi-1and PAI-1 was correlated with depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),but not with patient age,tumor size or nationality(P>0.05).The expression of Bmi-1 was positively correlated with that of PAI-1(P<0.05).The 10-year overall survival rate for all patients was 20%(16∕80).Univariate KaplanMeier survival analysis showed that patients with high expression of esophageal PAI-1 and Bmi-1 had lower survival,however,the difference was not statistically significant.Cox multivariate analysis showed that PAI-1and Bmi-1 were not independent factors for survival rate,while the depth of tumor invasion and metastasis were independent factors affecting patient survival.CONCLUSION:The expression of Bmi-1 and PAI-1plays a role in ESCC progression,and may be used as a prognostic marker in ESCC. | Yan Zhang Ya-Lou Zhang Hong-Ming Chen Hong-Wei Pu Wen-Jing Ma Xiao-Mei Li Hong Ma Xiao Chen | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,18: | 12 |

| 14 | Branched tetraether lipids in Chinese soils:Evaluating the fidelity of MBT/CBT proxies as paleoenvironmental proxies显示文摘The ubiquitous occurrence of branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers(br GDGTs) in soils has allowed development of new proxies for reconstruction of past climate and environment. The methylation and cyclization degrees of br GDGTs, expressed as MBT and CBT, respectively, are reported to be mainly controlled by mean annual air temperature(MAAT) and soil p H. However, the br GDGT-derived temperatures and soil p H scatter widely when data from different environmental conditions are considered. In this study, we collected over 300 soil samples from China, which are representative of humid(Xishuangbanna, Guangzhou, and Shanghai), semi-arid(Dongying) and semi-arid/arid(Lanzhou, Tibetan Plateau) regions. Collectively we have the most extensive dataset that broadly characterizes the distribution of br GDGTs according to climate zones in China. The overall data demonstrate that the MBT/CBT derived temperatures better match the measured MAATs in humid and non-alkaline regions than those from regions of low MAP(<400 mm/yr) and above neutral soil p H(>7.0–7.5). Similarly, CBT describes soil p H much better in humid and non-alkaline soils than in semi-arid/arid and alkaline soils; the semi-arid/arid and alkaline soils tend to show a positive correlation between soil p H and CBT, which contradicts that in the humid and non-alkaline soils. While soil p H, MAAT and mean annual precipitation(MAP) are dominating factors controlling the br GDGT distribution across all climate zones, conductivity, total organic carbon and total nitrogen, as well as soil water content can also play an important role locally. Removing br GDGT-II resulted in a revised CBT index that provides more accurate estimation of p H, especially in semi-arid/arid and alkaline soils. | 18 | High power all-fiberized and narrow-bandwidth MOPA system by tandem pumping strategy for thermally induced mode instability suppression显示文摘An all-fiberized and narrow-bandwidth master oscillator power amplification(MOPA) system with record output power of 4 kW level and slope efficiency of 78% is demonstrated. Tandem pumping strategy is tentatively introduced into the narrow-bandwidth MOPA system for thermally induced mode instability(TMI) suppression. The stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS) effect is balanced by simply using one-stage phase modulation technique. With different phase modulation signals, SBS limited output powers of 336 W, 1.2 kW and 3.94 kW are respectively achieved with spectral bandwidths accounting for 90% power of ~0.025, 0.17 and ~0.89 nm. Compared with our previous 976 nm pumping system, TMI threshold is overall boosted to be >5 times in which tandem pumping increases the TMI threshold of >3times. The beam quality(M~2 factor) of the output laser is well within 1.5 below the TMI threshold while it is ultimately saturated to be 1.86 with the influence of TMI at maximal output power. Except for SBS and TMI, stimulated Raman scattering(SRS) effect will be another challenge for further power scaling. | 19 | All-fiberized and narrow-linewidth 5 kW power-level fiber amplifier based on a bidirectional pumping configuration显示文摘In this paper,an all-fiberized and narrow-linewidth 5 kW power-level fiber amplifier is presented.The laser is achieved based on the master oscillator power amplification configuration,in which the phase-modulated single-frequency laser is applied as the seed laser and a bidirectional pumping configuration is applied in the power amplifier.The stimulated Brillouin scattering,stimulated Raman scattering,and transverse mode instability effects are all effectively suppressed in the experiment.Consequently,the output power is scaled up to 4.92 kW with a slope efficiency of as high as approximately 80%.The 3-dB spectral width is about 0.59 nm,and the beam quality is measured to be M^(2)~1.22 at maximum output power.Furthermore,we have also conducted a detailed spectral analysis on the spectral width of the signal laser,which reveals that the spectral wing broadening phenomenon could lead to the obvious decrease of the spectral purity at certain output power.Overall,this work could provide a reference for obtaining and optimizing high-power narrow-linewidth fiber lasers. | Pengfei Ma Hu Xiao Wei Liu Hanwei Zhang Xiaolin Wang Jinyong Leng Pu Zhou | 2021 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2021,9,3: | 9 |
| 20 | Broadband spin Hall effect of light in single nanoapertures显示文摘With properties not previously available,optical metamaterials and metasurfaces have shown their great potential in the precise control of light waves at the nanoscale.However,the use of current metamaterials and metasurfaces is limited by the collective response of the meta-atoms/molecules,which means that a single element cannot provide the functionalities required by most applications.Here,we demonstrate for the first time that a single achiral nanoaperture can be utilized as a meta-macromolecule to achieve giant angular spin Hall effect of light.By controlling the spin-related momenta,we show that these nanoapertures can enable full control of the phase gradient at a deep-subwavelength level,thus forming unique building blocks for optical metasurfaces.As a proof-of-concept demonstration,a miniaturized Bessel-like beam generator and flat lens are designed and experimentally characterized.The results presented here may open a door for the development of meta-macromolecule-based metasurfaces for integrated optical systems and nanophotonics. | Xian-Gang Luo Ming-Bo Pu Xiong Li Xiao-Liang Ma | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1: | 9 |
