| 2 | Carbon storage in evergreen broad-leaf forests in mid-subtropical region of China at four succession stages显示文摘To better understand the effect of forest succession on carbon sequestration, we investigated carbon stock and allocation of evergreen broadleaf forest, a major zonal forest in subtropical China.We sought to quantify the carbon sequestration potential.We sampled four forest types,shrub(SR), pine(Pinus massoniana) forest(PF), pine and broadleaf mixed forest(MF) and evergreen broadleaf forest(BF).A regression equation was constructed using tree height and diameter at breast height(DBH) and elements of total tree biomass.The equation was subsequently utilized to estimate tree carbon storage.The carbon storage of understory, litter, and soil was also estimated.Carbon storage in biomass increased significantly from the early succession stage SR(6.21 t ha-1) to the late stage BF(134.87 t ha-1).The biomass carbon stock of forest layers generally increased with succession except for the understory.The soil organic carbon storage for the total profile increased with forest succession, from 51.16 to 90.49 t ha-1, but the contribution of SOC to the carbon stock of the forest ecosystem declined from 89.18% to 40.15%.The carbon stock at ecosystem scale increased significantly with succession from SR(57.37 t ha-1), to PF(154.20 t ha-1), to MF(170.96 t ha-1)and to BF(225.36 t ha-1), with carbon stock of BF3.93 times that of SR.The forests in our study have great potential for increasing carbon sequestration, and large areas of secondary or degraded evergreen broadleaf forests in the subtropical zone of China could be a great carbon sink in future. | ZENG Zhangquan WANG Silong ZHANG Canming GONG Chao HU Qing | 2013 | Journal of Forestry Research2013,24,4: | 17 |

| 4 | Overexpression of potato miR482e enhanced plant sensitivity to Verticillium dahliae infection显示文摘Verticillium wilt of potato is caused by the fungus pathogen Verticillium dahliae. Present s RNA sequencing data revealed that miR482 was in response to V. dahliae infection but the function in potato is elusive. Here, we characterized potato miR482 family and its putative role resistance to Verticillium wilt. Members of the potato mi R482 superfamily are variable in sequence, but all variants target a class of disease-resistance proteins with nucleotide binding site(NBS)and leucine-rich repeat(LRR) motifs. When potato plantlets were infected with V. dahliae, the expression level of miR482e was downregulated, and that of several NBS-LRR targets of miR482e were upregulated. Transgenic potato plantlets overexpressing miR482e showed hypersensitivity to V. dahliae infection. Using s RNA and degradome datasets, we validated that miR482e targets m RNAs of NBS-LRR disease-resistance proteins and triggers the production of trans-acting(ta)si RNAs, most of which target m RNAs of defense-related proteins. Thus, the hypersensitivity of transgenic potato could be explained by enhanced miR482e and miR482e-derived tasi RNA-mediated silencing on NBS-LRR-disease-resistance proteins. | 6 | Automated detection and identification of white-backed planthoppers in paddy fields using image processing显示文摘A survey of the population densities of rice planthoppers is important for forecasting decisions and efficient control. Traditional manual surveying of rice planthoppers is time-consuming, fatiguing, and subjective. A new three-layer detection method was proposed to detect and identify white-backed planthoppers(WBPHs, Sogatella furcifera(Horváth)) and their developmental stages using image processing. In the first two detection layers, we used an Ada Boost classifier that was trained on a histogram of oriented gradient(HOG) features and a support vector machine(SVM) classifier that was trained on Gabor and Local Binary Pattern(LBP) features to detect WBPHs and remove impurities. We achieved a detection rate of 85.6% and a false detection rate of 10.2%. In the third detection layer, a SVM classifier that was trained on the HOG features was used to identify the different developmental stages of the WBPHs, and we achieved an identification rate of 73.1%, a false identification rate of 23.3%, and a 5.6% false detection rate for the images without WBPHs. | 13 | Medium-Chain Triglyceride Activated Brown Adipose Tissue and Induced Reduction of Fat Mass in C57BL/6J Mice Fed High-fat Diet显示文摘Objective To investigate activation of brown adipose tissue(BAT) stimulated by medium-chain triglyceride(MCT). Methods 30 Male C57BL/6J obese mice induced by fed high fat diet(HFD) were divided into 2 groups, and fed another HFD with 2% MCT or long-chain triglyceride(LCT) respectively for 12 weeks. Body weight, blood biochemical variables, interscapular brown fat tissue(IBAT) mass, expressions of m RNA and protein of beta 3-adrenergic receptors(β3-AR), uncoupling protein-1(UCP1), hormone sensitive lipase(HSL), protein kinase A(PKA), and adipose triglyceride lipase(ATGL) in IBAT were measured. Results Significant decrease in body weight and body fat mass was observed in MCT group as compared with LCT group(P<0.05) after 12 weeks. Greater increases in IBAT mass was observed in MCT group than in LCT group(P<0.05). Blood TG, TC, LDL-C in MCT group were decreased significantly, meanwhile blood HDL-C, ratio of HDL-C/LDL-C and norepinephrine were increased markedly. Expressions of m RNA and protein of β3-AR, UCP1, PKA, HSL, ATGL in BAT were greater in MCT group than in LCT group(P<0.05). | 16 | Holocene vegetation succession and responses to climate change in the northern sector of Northeast China显示文摘Sediment pollen samples from the Huola Basin in the northern sector of northeast China, and surface pollen samples from its environs, were analyzed to reconstruct accurately the historical response of vegetation to climate change since 9100 cal yr BP. Pollen analysis of the Huola Section indicates that vegetation experienced a transformation from early-mid Holocene warm-cold mixed vegetation to late Holocene cold-temperate vegetation. From 9100 to 6000 cal yr BP, the study area was warmer and moister than at present, developing Corylus, Carpinus, Pinus, Picea, Betula and Larix-dominated forests. Two cooling events at 6000–5000 and 3500–2500 cal yr BP led to a decrease in Corylus, Carpinus and other warmth-loving vegetation, whereas cold temperate forests composed of Larix and Betula expanded. After 2500 cal yr BP, Larix and Betula dominated cold-temperate vegetated landscapes. | 18 | Ultrastable and ultrasensitive pH-switchable carbon dots with high quantum yield for water quality identification,glucose detection,and two starch-based solid-state fluorescence materials显示文摘It is attractive and encouraging to develop new fluorescent carbon dots(CDs)with excellent optical properties and promising applications prospects.Herein,highly-efficient green emissive CDs(m-CDs)with a high quantum yield(QY)of 71.7%in water are prepared through a facile solvothermal method.Interestingly,the m-CDs exhibit excellent fluorescence stability in the pH range of 1–9.However,the fluorescence intensity of the m-CDs is almost completely quenched as the pH is increased from 9 to 10.The mechanism of the unique pH-responsive behavior is discussed in detail and a plausible mechanism is proposed.Owing to the unique pH-responsive behavior,the m-CDs are used as a on-off fluorescent probe for water quality identification.By combining the reversible pH-ultrasensitive optical properties of the m-CDs in the pH range of 9–10 with the glucose oxidase-mimicking(GOx-mimicking)ability of Au nanoparticles(AuNPs),glucose can be quantitatively detected.Finally,two environment-friendly starch-based solid-state fluorescence materials(powder and film)are developed through green preparation routes. | Daiyong Chao Jinxing Chen Qing Dong Weiwei Wu Desheng Qi Shaojun Dong | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,11: | 7 |
| 19 | Inductance calculation for 3D microsolenoids with single-layer coils显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D) single-layer microcoils have always been a key element for electromagnetic systems;but they lack an easy and accurate method to calculate the inductance value for their complex 3D micro-structures. This paper employed a curve-fitting process to obtain the associated equation for the inductance value and geometric parameters based on the simulation results. The correction factors regarding helical pitch and wire diameter were reviewed,which are used for compensation in the Nagaoka formula. The simulation process numerically simulated the performance of the 3D microcoils using a FEM electro-magnetic-coupled analysis method. Comparison of the simulated inductance value and the Nagaoka formula was undertaken,which shows that the helical pitch and wire diameter contribute a main role in the calculation error.
