Prevalence and transmission of mobilized colistin resistance(mcr)gene in bacteria common to animals and humans显示文摘Colistin is an old antimicrobial that has been revitalized as last-resort treatment against multidrug-resistant(MDR)gram-negative bacterial infections. However, colistin has been widely used in agricultural production and veterinary medicine for decades, and the recent global dissemination of mobilized colistin resistance(mcr)genes from animals to humans seriously threats the clinical use of colistin. Most of the mcr-harboring isolates have been Enterobacteriaceae, such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica which are common to animals and humans. An understanding of the origin, dissemination and transmission of mcr genes in bacteria common to animals and humans will facilitate the management of colistin use and relevant interventions to prevent further spread of resistance. This reviewaims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the global prevalence and transmission of mcr genes of animal and human commensal/pathogenic bacteria.Qixia Luo Yuan Wang Yonghong Xiao 2020Biosafety and Health2020,2,2:2

Impact of Polymyxin Resistance on Virulence and Fitness among Clinically Important Gram-Negative Bacteria显示文摘Humanity is facing an enormous and growing worldwide threat from the emergence of multi-drug-resistant(MDR)Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Acinetobacter baumannii.Polymyxin B and E(colistin)constitute the last-line therapies for treating MDR Gram-negative bacteria.Polymyxin is a cationic antibacterial peptide that can destroy the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. With the increasing clinical application of polymyxin, however, there have been many reports of the occurrence of polymyxin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. This resistance is mainly mediated by the modification or complete loss of lipopolysaccharide(LPS).LPS is also a virulence factor of Gram-negative bacteria, and alterations of LPS may correlate with virulence.Although it is generally believed that the biological costs associated with drug resistance may enable benign susceptible bacteria to overcome resistant bacteria when antibiotic pressure is reduced, some studies have shown that polymyxin-resistant bacteria are associated with higher virulence and greater fitness compared with their susceptible counterparts. To predict the development of polymyxin resis-tance and evaluate interventions for its mitigation,it is important to understand the relative biological cost of polymyxin resistance compared with susceptibility. The impact of polymyxin resistance mecha-nisms on the virulence and fitness of these three Gram-negative bacteria are summarized in this review.Yuan Wang Qixia Luo Tingting Xiao Yunying Zhu Yonghong Xiao 2022Engineering2022,8,6:1

From Mechanically Interlocked Structures to Host-Guest Chemistry Based on Twisted Dimeric Architectures by Adjusting Space Constraints显示文摘Mechanically interlocked molecules(MIMs)and host–guest chemistry have received great attention in the past few decades. However,it remains challenging to design architectures with mechanically interlocked features and construct cavities for guest molecule recognition using similar building blocks. In this study,we designed and constructed a series of novel twisted supramolecular structures by assembling various multitopic terpyridine(tpy)ligands with the same diameter and Zn(II)ions. The obtained complexes exhibited evolutional architectures and showed distinctively different space-constraint effects.Specifically, the assembled dimer SA,SB,and SBH displayed mechanically interlocked phenomena,including[2]catenane and[3]catenane,with an increase in concentration. However,no interlocked structures were observed in complexes SC and SCH constructed by hexatopic tpy ligands due to the significant space constraints. The single-crystal data of complex SCH further proved significant space constraints and illustrated the formation of a relatively closed cavity, which showed excellent host–guest properties for different calixarenes, especially high affinity for calix[6]arene.Xin Jiang Hao Yu Junjuan Shi Qixia Bai Yaping Xu Zhe Zhang Xin-Qi Hao Bao Li Pingshan Wang Lixin Wu Ming Wang 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,6:1

Active coherent control of nanoscale light confinement:Modulation of plasmonic modes and position of hotspots for surface-enhanced Raman scattering detection显示文摘Multistep plasmonic nanostructures can induce the deep modulation ofelectromagnetic-field interactions on the nanoscale for positioning hotspots, and this generation of enhanced fields is important in many optical applications. In this article, a new strategy is proposed for fabricating a plasmonic double-stacked nanocone (DSC) nanostructure. In the DSC structure, a tunable plasmonichybrid mode proceeds from the strong coupling of the plasmonic resonance ofa fundamental cavity mode with a localized surface plasmon gap mode. In thenanostructure, the far-field response is deeply modulated and the hottest spotscan be effectively positioned on the top surface of the DSC nanostructure. Acontrollable and cost-effective mask-reconfiguration technique for manufacturingthe multiscale nanostructure is developed, which guarantees the generation ofthe introduced crucial stage on the DSC nanostructure. To evaluate the features ofthe plasmonic resonance, the DSC nanostructure is used as a surface-enhancedRaman scattering (SERS) substrate for detecting 4-mercaptopyridine moleculesunder specific excitation conditions. 12Preparation of highly dispersed supported Ni-Based catalysts and their catalytic performance in low temperature for CO methanation显示文摘The use of non-noble nickel-based catalysts for low temperature CO methanation has been a challenge in recent years.Herein,MgAl layered double oxides sample with high dispersion synthesized by a facile N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)ethylenediaminetriacetic acid assisted wetness impregnation approach, demonstrates much superior catalytic activity and exceptional stability for CO methanation in comparison with the classical Ni/MgAl-LDO catalyst prepared by the ordinary wetness impregnation method.HRTEM results showed that N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)ethylenediaminetriacetic acid played a positive role in the dispersion of Ni,as well as Ni-support interaction.Well-dispersed Ni particles with a size of about 5 nm were formed in the presence of N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)ethylenediaminetriacetic acid.Compared to the Ni/MgAl-LDO prepared by conventional impregnation method, the NH-Ni/MgAl-LDO exhibited superior catalytic performance, especially excellent thermal stability. The NH-Ni30/MgAl-LDO catalyst was found to keep a 70%CO conversion even at 160◦C which demonstrates its good low temperature performance. From the in situ FTIR observations, this good performance at low temperatures may be linked to the delocalization of electrons around CO caused by surface hydroxyl groups.Yongbin Yao Jing Xu Xuhong Guo Jiangwei Li Qixia Zhang Jiangbing Li Chao Wang Mengjuan Zhang Bin Dai Feng Yu Sebastien Thomas Anne-Cecile Roger 2020Carbon Resources Conversion2020,3,1:0
Light at night and lung cancer risk:A worldwide interdisciplinary and time-series study显示文摘Background:Light at night(LAN)has become a concern in interdisciplinary research in recent years. This global interdisciplinary study aimed to explore the exposure-lag-response association between LAN exposure and lung cancer incidence. Methods:LAN data were obtained from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program’s Operational Linescan System.Data of lung cancer incidence,socio-demographic index, and smoking prevalence of populations in 201 countries/territories from 1992 to 2018 were collected from the Global Burden of Disease Study.Spearman correlation tests and population-weighted linear regression analysis were used to evaluate the correlation between LAN exposure and lung cancer incidence.A distributed lag nonlinear model(DLNM)was used to assess the exposure-lag effects of LAN exposure on lung cancer incidence. Results:The Spearman correlation coefficients were 0.286-0.355 and the population-weighted linear regression correlation coefficients were 0.361-0.527.After adjustment for socio-demographic index and smoking preva-lence,the Spearman correlation coefficients were 0.264-0.357 and the population-weighted linear regression correlation coefficients were 0.346-0.497.In the DLNM,the maximum relative risk was 1.04(1.02-1.06)at LAN exposure of 8.6 with a 2.6-year lag time. After adjustment for socio-demographic index and smoking prevalence, the maximum relative risk was 1.05(1.02-1.07)at LAN exposure of 8.6 with a 2.4-year lag time. Conclusion:High LAN exposure was associated with increased lung cancer incidence, and this effect had a specific lag period.Compared with traditional individual-level studies, this group-level study provides a novel paradigm of effective, efficient, and scalable screening for risk factors.Runchen Wang Qixia Wang Jianfu Li Jianrong Zhang Shixuan Lyu Wenhao Chi Zhiming Ye Xuanzhuang Lu Ying Shi Yubin Wang Xinjian Wu Ruiyu Hu Mónica Pérez-Ríos Jianxing He Wenhua Liang 2024Chinese Medical Journal Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine2024,2,1:0
