| 6 | Personalized Real-Time Movie Recommendation System:Practical Prototype and Evaluation显示文摘With the eruption of big data,practical recommendation schemes are now very important in various fields,including e-commerce,social networks,and a number of web-based services.Nowadays,there exist many personalized movie recommendation schemes utilizing publicly available movie datasets(e.g.,MovieLens and Netflix),and returning improved performance metrics(e.g.,Root-Mean-Square Error(RMSE)).However,two fundamental issues faced by movie recommendation systems are still neglected:first,scalability,and second,practical usage feedback and verification based on real implementation.In particular,Collaborative Filtering(CF)is one of the major prevailing techniques for implementing recommendation systems.However,traditional CF schemes suffer from a time complexity problem,which makes them bad candidates for real-world recommendation systems.In this paper,we address these two issues.Firstly,a simple but high-efficient recommendation algorithm is proposed,which exploits users1 profile attributes to partition them into several clusters.For each cluster,a virtual opinion leader is conceived to represent the whole cluster,such that the dimension of the original useritem matrix can be significantly reduced,then a Weighted Slope One-VU method is designed and applied to the virtual opinion leader-item matrix to obtain the recommendation results.Compared to traditional clusteringbased CF recommendation schemes,our method can significantly reduce the time complexity,while achieving comparable recommendation performance.Furthermore,we have constructed a real personalized web-based movie recommendation system,MovieWatch,opened it to the public,collected user feedback on recommendations,and evaluated the feasibility and accuracy of our system based on this real-world data. | Jiang Zhang Yufeng Wang Zhiyuan Yuan Qun Jin | 2020 | Tsinghua Science and Technology2020,25,2: | 10 |
| 7 | Prognostic values of the integrated model incorporating the volume of metastatic regional cervical lymph node and pretreatment serum Epstein-Barr virus DNA copy number in predicting distant metastasis in patients with N1 nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Background: According to the 7 th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer(AJCC) staging system, over50% of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) have N1 disease at initial diagnosis. However, patients with N1 NPC are relatively under-researched, and the metastasis risk of this group is not well-stratified. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic values of gross tumor volume of metastatic regional lymph node(GTVnd) and pretreatment serum copy number of Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) DNA in predicting distant metastasis of patients with N1 NPC, and to develop an integrated prognostic model that incorporates GTVnd and EBV DNA copy number for this group of patients.Methods: The medical records of 787 newly diagnosed patients with nonmetastatic, histologically proven N1 NPC who were treated at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between November 2009 and February 2012 were analyzed. Computed tomography-derived GTVnd was measured using the summation-of-area technique. Blood samples were collected before treatment to quantify plasma EBV DNA. The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis was used to evaluate the cut-off point for GTVnd, and the area under the ROC curve was used to assess the predicted validity of GTVnd. The survival rates were assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis, and the survival curves were compared using a log-rank test. Multivariate analysis was conducted using the Cox proportional hazard regression model.Results: The 5-year distant metastasis-free survival(DMFS) rates for patients with GTVnd > 18.9 vs.≤ 18.9 mL were82.2% vs. 93.2%(P < 0.001), and for patients with EBV DNA copy number > 4000 vs. < 4000 copies/mL were 83.5% vs.93.9%(P < 0.001). After adjusting for GTVnd, EBV DNA copy number, and T category in the Cox regression model, both GTVnd > 18.9 mL and EBV DNA copy number > 4000 copies/mL were significantly associated with poor prognosis(both P < 0.05). According to combination of GTVnd and EBV DNA copy number, all patients were divided into low-,moderate-, and high-risk groups, with the 5-year DMFS rates of 96.1,87.4, and 73.8%, respectively(P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis confirmed the prognostic value of this model for distant metastatic risk stratification(hazard ratio [HR],4.17; 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.34-7.59; P < 0.001).Conclusions: GTVnd and serum EBV DNA copy number are independent prognostic factors for predicting distant metastasis in NPC patients with N1 disease. | 9 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 10 | Ultrasound-triggered noninvasive regulation of blood glucose levels using microgels integrated with insulin nanocapsules显示文摘Diabetes is a serious public health problem affecting 422 million people worldwide. Traditional diabetes management often requires multiple daily insulin injections, associated with pain and inadequate glycemia control. Herein, we have developed an ultrasound-triggered insulin delivery system capable of pulsatile insulin release that can provide both long-term sustained and fast on-demand responses. In this system, insulin-loaded poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanocapsules are encapsulated within chitosan microgels. The encapsulated insulin in nanocapsules can passively diffuse from the nanoparticle but remain restricted within the microgel. Upon ultrasound treatment, the stored insulin in microgels can be rapidly released to regulate blood glucose levels. | 11 | Relationship between Ambient Fine Particles and Ventricular Repolarization Changes and Heart Rate Variability of Elderly People with Heart Disease in Beijing, China显示文摘Objective To explore the effects of particulate matters less than 2.5 μm in aerodynamic diameter (PM 2.5) on heart repolarization/depolarization and heart rate variability (HRV). Methods We conducted a panel study for elderly subjects with heart disease in Beijing from 2007 to 2008. PM 2.5 was measured at a fixed station for 20 h continuously each day while electrocardiogram (ECG) indexes of 42 subjects were also recorded repeatedly. Meteorological data was obtained from the China Meteorological Data Sharing Service System. A mixed linear regression model was used to estimate the associations between PM 2.5 and the ECG indexes. The model was adjusted for age, body mass index, sex, day of the week andmeteorology. Results Significant adverse effects of PM 2.5 on ECG indexes reflecting HRV were observed statistically and the strongest effect of PM 2.5 on HRV was on lag 1 day in our study. However, there were no associations between PM 2.5 and ECG indexes reflecting heart repolarization/depolarization. Additionally, the effects of PM 2.5 on subjects with hypertension were larger than on the subjects without hypertension. | 12 | Beam and image experiment of beam deflection electron gun for distributed X-ray sources显示文摘Distributed X-ray sources comprise a single vacuum chamber containing multiple X-ray sources that are triggered and emit X-rays at a specific time and location. This process facilitates an application for innovative system concepts in X-ray and computer tomography. This paper proposes a novel electron beam focusing, shaping,and deflection electron gun for distributed X-ray sources.The electron gun uses a dispenser cathode as an electron emitter, a mesh grid to control emission current, and two electrostatic lenses for beam shaping, focusing, and deflection. Novel focusing and deflecting electrodes were designed to increase the number of focal spots in the distributed source. Two identical half-rectangle opening electrodes are controlled by adjusting the potential of the two electrodes to control the electron beam trajectory, and then, multifocal spots are obtained on the anode target. The electron gun can increase the spatial density of the distributed X-ray sources, thereby improving the image quality. The beam experimental results show that the focal spot sizes of the deflected(deflected amplitude 10.5 mm)and non-deflected electron beams at full width at half maximum are 0.80 mm 90.50 mm and 0.55 mm 90.40 mm, respectively(anode voltage 160 kV; beam current 30 mA). | 15 | Design and test of 2ZYM-2 potted vegetable seedlings transplanting machine显示文摘In order to improve the efficiency and quality of transplanting vegetables in dry land,based on the seedling technology,transplanting effect and analysis of the planting process,a potted vegetable seedlings transplanting machine was designed.It mainly comprised rotary disc type feeding mechanism,five-bar duckbill type planting mechanism(simulated duckbill mechanism,disc cam,connecting rod,crank,fork,cable)and power transmission system.Based on the physical parameters of the seedlings and design requirements,it was determined that the diameter of the duckbill was D=90 mm,the opening and closing angle was 25°,and the taper angle was 17°.A test bench with adjustable parameters was built by analyzing the structure of the planting mechanism and the motion of the working process.The digital speckle technique was used to optimize the parameters,so that the length of the crankshaftΙwas S1=100 mm,the length of the crankshaftΙΙwas S2=80 mm,the length of the connecting rodΙwas S3=140 mm,the length of the connecting rodΙΙwas S4=260 mm,the length of rod to connecting the rack was S6=314 mm,and the height of planting track was H=450 mm.According to the above parameters and the control requirements of the duckbill mechanism,the cam stroke was determined to be S=15 mm.And the initial phase difference between the two cams was 180°.The experiment was carried out with pepper seedlings as transplanting objects.The results showed that when the planting frequency was 50-70 plants/min,the seedling upright rate was 93%-91.1%,the planting depth qualified rate was 96%-92%.The leakage rate was 0-0.26%,the variation coefficient of plant spacing was 0.37%-0.67%,the injury rate was 0%,and the mechanical damage degree of the mining surface was 2.43-3.77 mm/m2.The machine can effectively improve the quality of transplanting,which can meet the production needs and design requirements of the mechanism. | Xin Jin Qun Cheng Bo Zhao Jiangtao Ji Mingyong Li | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,1: | 4 |

| 17 | Enhanced grain refinement of Al-Si alloys by novel Al-V-B refiners显示文摘Al-V-B master alloy is promising for refining Al-Si alloys,yet its optimal composition with superior efficacy remains to be explored.In this work,the evolution of refining phases in the Al-10 Si/Al-V-B system with different V:B ratios was evaluated by thermodynamic calculations,based on which the Al-V-B refiners with V:B=1:1 and 5:1 were designed.Refining trails demonstrated that they could significantly reduce the grain size of Al-10 Si(wt.%)alloy from 1736 to 184-245μm with industrial addition amount.Detailed examinations results clarify that when V:B ratio is 1:1 the nucleation particle is(V,Al)B_(2),which has a VB_(2)-AlB_(2) core-shell structure and therefore presents the nucleation capability as AlB_(2) particle.When V:B ratio is as high as 5:1,the nucleation particle is pure VB_(2).Density functional theory(DFT)calculation indicates that(0001)VB_(2)/(111)α-Al interface has the lowest interfacial energy such that highest nucleation potency among other types of diboride/α-Al interfaces under consideration.The outcomes of this work provide fundamental guidance to develop superior V-B based refiners for Al-Si alloys. | Chenxi Zhao Yang Li Jin Xu Qun Luo Ying Jiang Qiling Xiao Qian Li | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,35: | 4 |
