| 2 | Atmospheric HULIS and its ability to mediate the reactive oxygen species (ROS): A review显示文摘Atmospheric humic-like substances(HULIS) are not only an unresolved mixture of macroorganic compounds but also powerful chelating agents in atmospheric particulate matters(PMs); impacting on both the properties of aerosol particles and health effects by generating reactive oxygen species(ROS). Currently, the interests of HULIS are intensively shifting to the investigations of HULIS-metal synergic effects and kinetics modeling studies, as well as the development of HULIS quantification, findings of possible HULIS sources and generation of ROS from HULIS. In light of HULIS studies, we comprehensively review the current knowledge of isolation and physicochemical characterization of HULIS from atmospheric samples as well as HULIS properties(hygroscopic, surface activity, and colloidal) and possible sources of HULIS.This review mainly highlights the generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) from PMs, HULIS and transition metals, especially iron. This review also summarized the mechanism of ironorganic complexation and recent findings of OH formation from HULIS-metal complexes. | 3 | Single atom and defect engineering of CuO for efficient electrochemical reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4)显示文摘Electrochemical CO_(2) transformation to high‐value ethylene(C_(2)H_(4))at high currents and efficiencies is desired and yet remains a grand challenge.We show for the first time that coupling single Sb atoms and oxygen vacancies of CuO enable synergistic electrocatalytic reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4) at low overpotentials.Highly dispersed Sb atoms occupying metal substitutional sites of CuO are synthesized under mild conditions.The overall CO_(2) reduction faradaic efficiency(FE)reaches 89.3±1.1%with an FE toward C_(2)H_(4) exceeding 58.4%at a high‐current density of 500 mA/cm^(2).Addition of the p‐block metal is found to induce transformation of CuO from flakes to nanoribbons rich in nanoholes and oxygen vacancies,greatly enhancing CO_(2) adsorption and activation while suppressing hydrogen evolution.Further density functional theory calculations with in situ X‐ray diffraction reveal that combining Sb sites and oxygen vacancies prominently lessen the dimerization energy of adsorbed CO intermediate,thus boosting the conversion of CO_(2) to produce C_(2)H_(4).This study provides a new perspective for promoting selective C-C coupling for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction. | Senlin Chu Changwoo Kang Woonghyeon Park Yu Han Song Hong Leiduan Hao Hao Zhang Tsz Woon Benedict Lo Alex W.Robertson Yousung Jung Buxing Han Zhenyu Sun | 2022 | SmartMat2022,3,1: | 3 |
| 4 | Analysis of the relationship between bile duct and duodenal microbiota reveals that potential dysbacteriosis is the main cause of primary common bile duct stones显示文摘Bacteria play an important role in the formation of primary Common Bile Duct(CBD)stones.However,the composition and function of the microbiota of bile duct in patients with primary CBD stones remained to be explored.We utilized the 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing technology to analyze the microbial diversity and community composition of biliary and duodenal microbiota in 15 patients with primary CBD stones and 4 patients without biliary tract diseases.Alpha diversity analysis showed that the microbiota richness was similar in bile and intestinal fluid;Beta diversity analysis showed that there were differences in the composition between biliary microbiota and the duodenal microbiota,but the abundance of the main groups showed similarities.The composition of the biliary microbiota from gallstone patients was more complex,as was the duodenal microbiota.Proteobacteria and Firmicutes were the dominant bacteria at phylum level,accounting for at least 75%of the total reads in each subgroup.Pseudomonas and EscherichiaShigella were the major genus among subgroups,but Escherichia-Shigella had increased abundance in duodenal microbiota with primary choledocholithiasis,which may play an important role in stone formation.It is noteworthy that Clostridiumsensu_stricto,Lachnospiraceae_UCG-008,Butyrivibrio and Roseburia which could produce short chain fatty acids(SCFAs),were significantly decreased in biliary microbiota with primary CBD stones(p<0.05).Our study provided new insights into the compositional of normal biliary microbiota.The micro-ecology of biliary and duodenal in patients with stones is complex and closely related,and there is a potential for dysbacteriosis.The decrease in abundance of certain major acid-producing bacteria affects the health of the biliary tract and thus leads to the formation of stones. | Zhitang Lyu Tingting Yu Lichao Zhang Xiaona Xu Yijun Zhang Jihong Li Zhirong Li Wei Zhang Senlin Hou | 2021 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,4: | 2 |
| 5 | A low dose cell therapy system for treating osteoarthritis:In vivo study and in vitro mechanistic investigations显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)can be effective in alleviating the progression of osteoarthritis(OA).However,low MSC retention and survival at the injection site frequently require high doses of cells and/or repeated injections,which are not economically viable and create additional risks of complications.In this study,we produced MSC-laden microcarriers in spinner flask culture as cell delivery vehicles.These microcarriers containing a low initial dose of MSCs administered through a single injection in a rat anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)transection model of OA achieved similar reparative effects as repeated high doses of MSCs,as evaluated through imaging and histological analyses.Mechanistic investigations were conducted using a co-culture model involving human primary chondrocytes grown in monolayer,together with MSCs grown either within 3D constructs or as a monolayer.Co-culture supernatants subjected to secretome analysis showed significant decrease of inflammatory factors in the 3D group.RNA-seq of co-cultured MSCs and chondrocytes using Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis revealed processes relating to early chondrogenesis and increased extracellular matrix interactions in MSCs of the 3D group,as well as phenotypic maintenance in the co-cultured chondrocytes.The cell delivery platform we investigated may be effective in reducing the cell dose and injection frequency required for therapeutic applications. | Bin Wang Wei Liu Jiao Jiao Li Senlin Chai Dan Xing Hongsheng Yu Yuanyuan Zhang Wenjin Yan Zhihong Xu Bin Zhao Yanan Du Qing Jiang | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,1: | 2 |

The decomposition product formaldehyde polymerized to form carbon skeleton with resorcinol after carbonization, and the in-situ nitrogen doping was achieved with the decomposed nitrogen source. NCSs were obtained with regular spherical morphology, high specific surface area, and suitable nitrogen doping. | 9 | Gd_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles modified g-C_(3)N_(4) with enhanced photocatalysis activity for degradation of organic pollutants显示文摘Gd_(2) O_(3) nanoparticles modified g-C_(3) N_(4) photocatalytic composites were synthesized by a simple one-step hydrothermal method.The structure,morphology,optical properties of the prepared photocatalyst were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),field emission transmission electron microscopy(FETEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The result demonstrates that gadolinium is mainly dispersed on the surface of g-C_(3) N_(4) in the form of Gd_(2) O_(3),and does not destroy the lattice structure of g-C_(3) N_(4).Besides,the gadolinium can cause the red shift of the absorption edge of light,narrow the band gap,and increase the separation efficiency of the photogenerated electron and hole of g-C_(3) N_(4).Especially,the specific surface area of g-C_(3) N_(4) can be significantly increased.Furthermore,g-C_(3) N_(4)/Gd-0.05 displays the highest photodegradation performance when it is used for degradation of methyl orange(MO),methylene blue(MB) and Rhodamine B(RhB).The photodegradation rate of g-C_(3) N_(4)/Gd-0.05 composites is 72.4% for MO,95.5% for RhB,100% for MB after120 min under visible light(λ> 420 nm) irradiation.Narrow band gap promotes the separation of photogenerated electron and hole,which enhances the photocatalytic activity of g-C_(3) N_(4).It is noted that g-C_(3) N_(4)/Gd-0.05 exhibits excellent photocatalytic stability by the photocurrent and the cyclic photodegradation of MO. | Yipeng Zhou Fanshan Zeng Chaoyang Sun Jun Wu Yu Xie Fayun Zhang Senlin Rao Fahui Wang Jinbing Zhang Jinsheng Zhao Shiqian Li | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,11: | 1 |

| 15 | Air pressure law of a reservoir constructed in karst sinkholes显示文摘Karst sinkholes with natural negative landform provide favorable conditions for the pumped storage reservoir construction for less excavation work.However,the construction of the reservoir would plug the natural karst channels for water and air,which would cause remarkable air pressure in karst channels when the groundwater level fluctuates.A large laboratory simulation test was carried out to study the air pressure variation of a reservoir built on the karst sinkhole.The air pressure in the karst channel and inside the model was monitored during the groundwater rising and falling process.Result showed that the variation of air pressure in the karst channel and the surrounding rock exhibited a high degree of similarity.The air pressure increased rapidly at the initial stage of water level rising,followed by a slight decrease,then the air pressure increased sharply when the water level approached the top of the karst cave.The initial peak of air pressure and the final peak of air pressure were defined,and both air pressure peaks were linearly increasing with the water level rising rate.The negative air pressure was also analyzed during the drainage process,which was linearly correlated with the water level falling rate.The causes of air pressure variation in karst channels of a pumped storage reservoir built on the karst sinkhole were discussed.The initial rapid increase,then slight decrease and final sudden increase of air pressure were controlled by the combined effects of air compression in karst channel and air seepage into the surrounding rock.For the drainage process,the instant negative air pressure and gradual recovering of air pressure were controlled by the combined effects of negative air pressure induced by water level falling and air supply from surrounding rock.This work could provide valuable reference for the reservoir construction in karst area. | YU Bo TAI Shengping ZHENG Kexun CHEN Shiwan HAN Xiao WANG Senlin ZUO Shuangying | 2024 | Journal of Mountain Science2024,21,3: | 0 |
| 16 | Improving luminescence and thermometric performance of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):Er^(3+) by tri-doping with Yb^(3+) and Na^(+)显示文摘The Er3+doped double perovskite Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) crystal is a promising ratiometric thermometer based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR) of transitions from ^(2)H_(11/2) and ^(4)S_(3/2) to the lowered ^(4)I_(15/2) level.However,the Ca^(2+) vacancy defect caused by the charge difference between rare-earth ions and the substituted alkaline-earth ions gives rise to the non-radiative probability and limits the thermal sensitivity.Here,the up-conversion luminescence and thermometric performance of Er^(3+),Yb^(3+) dopedBa_(2)CaWO_(6) are tuned by tri-doping with alkaline ions.The Ca^(2+) vacancy defect can be eliminated by the introduction of Na^(+),which occupies the Ca^(2+) site when it is doped into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+).On the contrary,the doping of Cs^(+) into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+) enhances the defect concentration because it occupies the site of Ba^(2+).Thus,the tri-doping of Na^(+) reduces the non-radiative probability and enhances the quantum efficiency of Er^(3+),leading to the improvement of the thermometric sensitivity of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6).As a result,we get an excellent thermometric Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):8%Yb^(3+),3.5%Er^(3+),6%Na^(+) powder with a luminescence lifetime of 515 μs and maximum thermal sensitivity(S_(r)) of 1.45%/K,which is more than three times higher than that of the BCWO:Er^(3+) powder. | Lingyun Li Ziwei Zhou Fazheng Huang Senlin Peng Yantang Huang Guoqiang Wang Xinxu Li Fei-Fei Chen Chengkai Yang Xin-Xiong Li Yan Yu | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,1: | 0 |
| 17 | Identification of COL3A1 variants associated with sporadic thoracic aortic dissection: a case-control study显示文摘Thoracic aortic dissection(TAD)without familial clustering or syndromic features is known as sporadic TAD(STAD).So far,the genetic basis of STAD remains unknown.Whole exome sequencing was performed in 223 STAD patients and 414 healthy controls from the Chinese Han population(N=637).After population structure and genetic relationship and ancestry analyses,we used the optimal sequence kernel association test to identify the candidate genes or variants of STAD.We found that COL3A1 was significantly relevant to STAD(P=7.35×10^(−6))after 10000 times permutation test(P=2.49×10^(−3)).Moreover,another independent cohort,including 423 cases and 734 non-STAD subjects(N=1157),replicated our results(P=0.021).Further bioinformatics analysis showed that COL3A1 was highly expressed in dissected aortic tissues,and its expression was related to the extracellular matrix(ECM)pathway.Our study identified a profile of known heritable TAD genes in the Chinese STAD population and found that COL3A1 could increase the risk of STAD through the ECM pathway.We wanted to expand the knowledge of the genetic basis and pathology of STAD,which may further help in providing better genetic counseling to the patients. | Yanghui Chen Yang Sun Zongzhe Li Chenze Li Lei Xiao Jiaqi Dai Shiyang Li Hao Liu Dong Hu Dongyang Wu Senlin Hu Bo Yu Peng Chen Ping Xu Wei Kong Dao Wen Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,3: | 0 |
