1Distribution feature of terrestrial heat flow densities in the Bohai Basin,East China显示文摘Temperature logging curves at 8 boreholes and well-testing temperature data at 142 boreholes are used to determine geotemperature gradients in the Bohai Basin. The thermal conductivities of 86 rock samples are measured at laboratory and the effects of porosity and temperature are corrected to obtain conductivities in situ. Terrestrial heat flow densities at 76 wells are determined based on these data. The distribution of the heat flow indicates that the terrestrial heat flow in the Bohai Basin is relatively high with an average value of 65.8 mW/m2. This characteristic is caused by the tectonic evolution of the basin. 2Clinical antiangiogenic effect of recombinant adenovirus-p53 combined with hyperthermia for advanced cancer显示文摘Objective:To assess the safety and clinical antiangiogenic effect of recombinant adenovirus-p53(rAd-p53)combined with hyperthermia plus or not plus radiotherapy in advanced cancer.Methods:Expression of Vascular epithelial growth factor(VEGF)after intratumoral injection of rAd-p53was assayed by immunohistochemistry(IHC)imaging.Forty-four patients with advanced cancer were enrolled into this clinical study.The patients were intratumorally injected with rAd-p53(Gendicine)at a dose of 1×1012vp once a week,with a total of 4-54(mean 7.7)times.Total of 4-29(mean 8.5)times of hyperthermia was given to the patients.Among the 44 patients,30 patients were concurrently added with radiotherapy of a total dose 30-76 Gy/15-38 f/3-8 w(mean 58 Gy).Results:Before and after intratumoral injection of rAd-p53,the VEGF IHC positive cell scores were 2.80and 1.50,respectively(P=0.031).The treatment of rAd-p53 combined with hyperthermia plus or not plus radiotherapy in advanced cancer achieved CR rate of 13.60%(6/44),and PR rate of 29.6%(13/44),and thus the effective rate was 43.2%.In addition to 6 patients with CR,19 patients(19/38,50.0%)had low density area(LDA)of more than 50%area on CT image within tumor indicating tumor tissue necrosis.Conclusions:Our data indicate that rAd-p53 inhibits VEGF expression and angiogenesis,and promotes tumor necrosis and shrinkage induced by hyperthermia plus or not plus radiotherapy in advanced cancer.Xiaofan Li Shaowen Xiao Yongheng Li Shanwen Zhang 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,6:6

5Continuous activation of polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells during pregnancy is critical for fetal development显示文摘The maternal immune system is vital in maintaining immunotolerance to the semiallogeneic fetus for a successful pregnancy.Although studies have shown that myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs)play an important role in maintaining feto-maternal tolerance,little is known about the role of MDSCs in pregnancies with intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).Here,we reported that the activation of polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMN-MDSCs)during pregnancy was closely associated with fetal growth.In humans,class E scavenger receptor 1(SR-E1),a distinct marker for human PMN-MDSCs,was used to investigate PMN-MDSC function during pregnancy.Continuous activation of SR-E1+PMN-MDSCs was observed in all stages of pregnancy,accompanied by high cellular levels of ROS and arginase-1 activity,mediated through STAT6 signaling.However,SR-E1+PMN-MDSCs in pregnancies with IUGR showed significantly lower suppressive activity,lower arginase-1 activity and ROS levels,and decreased STAT6 phosphorylation level,which were accompanied by an increase in inflammatory factors,compared with those in normal pregnancies.Moreover,the population of SR-E1+PMN-MDSCs was negatively correlated with the adverse outcomes of newborns from pregnancies with IUGR.In mice,decreases in cell population,suppressive activity,target expression levels,and STAT6 phosphorylation levels were also observed in the pregnancies with IUGR compared with the normal pregnancies,which were rescued by the adoptive transfer of PMN-MDSCs from pregnant mice.Interestingly,the growth-promoting factors(GPFs)secreted by placental PMN-MDSCs in both humans and mice play a vital role in fetal development.These findings collectively support that PMN-MDSCs have another new role in pregnancy,which can improve adverse neonatal outcomes.Mengyu Shi Ziyang Chen Meiqi Chen Jingping Liu Jing Li Zhe Xing Xiaogang Zhang Shuaijun Lv Xinyao Li Shaowen Zuo Shi Feng Ying Lin Gang Xiao Liping Wang Yumei He 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,7:1

8Light-driven directional ion transport for enhanced osmotic energy harvesting显示文摘Light-driven ion(proton)transport is a crucial process both for photosynthesis of green plants and solar energy harvesting of some archaea.Here,we describe use of a TiO_(2)/C_(3)N_(4)semiconductor heterojunction nanotube membrane to realize similar light-driven directional ion transport performance to that of biological systems.This heterojunction system can be fabricated by two simple deposition steps.Under unilateral illumination,the TiO_(2)/C_(3)N_(4)heterojunction nanotube membrane can generate a photocurrent of about 9μA/cm^(2),corresponding to a pumping stream of~5500 ions per second per nanotube.By changing the position of TiO_(2)and C_(3)N_(4),a reverse equivalent ionic current can also be realized.Directional transport of photogenerated electrons and holes results in a transmembrane potential,which is the basis of the light-driven ion transport phenomenon.As a proof of concept,we also show that this system can be used for enhanced osmotic energy generation.The artificial light-driven ion transport system proposed here offers a further step forward on the roadmap for development of ionic photoelectric conversion and integration into other applications,for example water desalination.Kai Xiao Paolo Giusto Fengxiang Chen Ruotian Chen Tobias Heil Shaowen Cao Lu Chen Fengtao Fan Lei Jiang 2021National Science Review2021,8,8:0
