Latitudinal changes (6°S-20°N) of summer ciliate abundance and species compositions in surface waters from the Java Sea to the South China Sea显示文摘Ciliates play a curial role in energy transfer from pico-and nano-phytoplankton to mesozooplankton in marine ecosystems. In order to visualize their geographical distributions from the Java Sea to the South China Sea (6°S to 20°N), the authors investigated the ciliate abundance and species composition in surface waters during May 18 to 27 of 2010. The ciliate abundance decreased latitudinally from 3 080 ind./L (~6°S) to 40 ind./L (~3°N), and then increased to 1 180 ind./L (~16°N) at the end of the survey. A total of 22 ciliates belonging to 15 genera were identified with the tintinnids accounted for 50% (11 species); and the species number showed a same spatial change as the ciliate abundance. Moreover, the Strombidium occupied over 50% of total ciliate abundance in most stations and Mesodinium and Tintinnopsis contributed to about 18.7% and 11.4%, respectively. In particular, our results indicate that the geographical changes in ciliate abundance were positively regulated by larger nano-and micro-phytoplankton biomass, rather than smaller pico-phytoplankton in the investigated waters.LIU Huaxue LI Gang TAN Yehui KE Zhixin HUANG Jianrong HUANG Liangmin 2013Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,4:6
Relationship between phytoplankton composition and environmental factors in the surface waters of southern South China Sea in early summer of 2009显示文摘Horizontal distributions of phytoplankton abundance, species composition as well as environmental factors were investigated in the surface waters of southern South China Sea(SCS) in early summer(May 16 to June 7) of 2009.In most areas of southern SCS,the concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus were very low and DIN/DIP ratios usually were lower than the Redfield N/P Ratio of 16:1.Nitrogen nutrients were significant lower in the upwelling region off Vietnam.A total of 144 taxa of phytoplankton were identified in the study area. The dominant genera were Prorocentrum,Gonyaulax,Gyrodinium,Scrippsiella and Chaetoceros, respectively.Spatial patterns of early-summer phytoplankton abundance and species composition should be mainly controlled by the upwelling off Vietnam and the discharge of Mekong River in the southern SCS.Diatoms dominated in the nutritious Mekong River Estuary or upwelling region off Vietnam;while dinoflagellates dominated in the oligotrophic pelagic region. The canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) indicates that most of diatoms favor higher levels of silicate and phosphorus,as well as lower temperature;while most of dinoflagellates favor the lower silicate and phosphorous and higher temperature.Correlation and CCA results indicate that silicate, nitrate and temperature were the most relevant environmental factors to regulate the horizontal pattern of early-summer phytoplankton in the surface waters of southern SCS.KE Zhixin TAN Yehui HUANG Liangmin ZHANG Jianlin LIAN Shumin 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,3:3
Longitudinal patterns of spring-intermonsoon phytoplankton biomass, species compositions and size structure in the Bay of Bengal显示文摘Vertical distributions of phytoplankton biomass, compositions and size structure were investigated during the spring-intermonsoon (April 22 to 30) of 2010 along transact 10 N of the Bay of Bengal, northern Indian Ocean.Surface phytoplankton biomass (Chl a) was (0.065 ± 0.009) μg/L,being greater than 80% of which was contributed by pico-phytoplankton (<3 μm).The Chl a concentration vertically increased to the maximal values at deep chlorophyll maximum (DCM) layer that shoaled eastwards from 75 to 40 m.The Chl a biomass at DCM layer generally varied between 0.2 and 0.4 μg/L,reaching the maximum of 0.56 μg/L with micro-phytoplankton cells (>20 μm) accounting for 58% and nano-(3-20 μm) or pico-cells for 15% and 27%,respectively.In particular, the cells concentration coupling well with phosphate level was observed at middle layer (75-100 m) of 87 to 89 E,dominated by micro-cells diatoms (e.g.,Chaetoceros atlanticus v.neapolitana,Chaetoceros femur and Pseudonitzschia sp.) and cyanobacteria (i.e.,Trichodesmium hildebrandtii),with the cells concentration reached as high as 4.0 × 10 4 and 4.3 × 10 4 cells/L.At the rest of the transact however, dinoflagellates (e.g.,Amphisdinium carterae and Prorocentrum sp.) were the dominant species, with the cells concentration varying from 0.3 × 10 3 to 6.8 × 10 3 cells/L.Our results also indicate that the regulation of large cells (micro-,nano-) on phytoplankton biomass merely occurred at DCM layer of the Bay.LI Gang KE Zhixin LIN Qiang NI Guangyan SHEN Pingping LIU Huaxue YIN Jianqiang LI Kaizhi HUANG Liangmin TAN Yehui 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,2:2
Rapid and selective uranium extraction from aqueous solution under visible light in the absence of solid photocatalyst显示文摘Extraction of uranium from radioactive waste-water is of significant importance for environmental protection and the recovery of uranium resource.Different from the previous reports to use the solid absorbent/photocatalyst for U(VI)removal, herein,we proposed a new eco-friendly method for the rapid and selective extraction of uranium from aqueous solutions under visible light without solid materials. At optimal pH value and in the presence of organics like alcohols, the U(VI)could be extracted efficiently to form brown uranium solid over wide uranium concentrations under anaerobic condition and visible light,by utilizing the excitation of the given U(VI)species. With comprehensive modelling of the electronic ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)properties,it is proved that pH adjusting towards U(VI)could induce efficient ligand-to-metal-charge-transfer(LMCT)within the uranyl complex under visible light and the reduction of U(VI)to form U(V),which can be transformed into U(IV)via disproportionation reaction. The resulting U(IV)in solid phase makes the extraction much more convenient in operation.More importantly, the excellent selectivity for uranium extraction over interfering alkali metal ions, transition metal ions and the lanthanide metal ions shows a powerful application potential.Shaojun Li Yezi Hu Zewen Shen Yawen Cai Zhuoyu Ji Xiaoli Tan Zhixin Liu Guixia Zhao Shuxian Hu Xiangke Wang 2021Science China Chemistry2021,64,8:2

The C_(6)D_(6)detector system on the Back-n beam line of CSNS显示文摘Introduction The neutron capture cross sections are very important in the field of nuclear device design and basic physics research.Hydrogen-free liquid scintillator such as C_(6)D_(6)detectors are widely used in the neutron capture cross-sectional measurements for the low neutron sensitivity and fast time response. The Back-n white neutron source at China Spallation Neutron Source is the first spallation white neutron source in China, and it is suitable for neutron capture cross-sectional measurement.Materials and methods A C_(6)D_(6)detector system was built in the Back-n experimental station. The pulse height weighting technique was used to determine the system’s detection efficiency. The response to gamma rays of the C_(6)D_(6)detector was measured, and the energy resolution function was determined.Monte Carlo simulation with Geant4 code was carried out to get the weighting function of this C_(6)D_(6)detector system.Additionally, the systematic uncertainty of the weighting function was also determined. Conclusion According to the experimental and simulation results, this C_(6)D_(6)detector system can be used to measure neutron capture cross section.Jie Ren Xichao Ruan Jie Bao Guangyuan Luan Wei Jiang Qi An Huaiyong Bai Ping Cao Qiping Chen Yonghao Chen Pinjing Cheng Zengqi Cui Ruirui Fan Changqing Feng Minhao Gu Fengqin Guo Changcai Han Zijie Han Guozhu He Yongcheng He Yuefeng He Hanxiong Huang Weiling Huang Xiru Huang Xiaolu Ji Xuyang Ji Haoyu Jiang Hantao Jing Ling Kang Mingtao Kang Bo Li Lun Li Qiang Li Xiao Li Yang Li Yang Li Rong Liu Shubin Liu Xingyan Liu Yinglin Ma Changjun Ning Binbin Qi Zhaohui Song Hong Sun Xiaoyang Sun Zhijia Sun Zhixin Tan Hongqing Tang Jingyu Tang Pengcheng Wang Qi Wang Taofeng Wang Yanfeng Wang Zhaohui Wang Zheng Wang Jie Wen Zhongwei Wen Qingbiao Wu Xiaoguang Wu Xuan Wu Likun Xie Yiwei Yang Han Yi Li Yu Tao Yu Yongji Yu Guohui Zhang Jing Zhang Linhao Zhang Liying Zhang Qingmin Zhang Qiwei Zhang Xianpeng Zhang Yuliang Zhang Zhiyong Zhang Yingtan Zhao Liang Zhou Zuying Zhou Danyang Zhu Kejun Zhu Peng Zhu 2019Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2019,3,3:1
A genome wide association study between copy number variation (CNV) and human height in Chinese population显示文摘Copy number variation (CNV) is a type of genetic variation which may have important roles in phenotypic variability and disease susceptibility. To hunt for genetic variants underlying human height variation, we performed a genome wide CNV association study for human height in 618 Chinese unrelated subjects using Affymetrix 500K array set. After adjusting for age and sex, we found that four CNVs at 6p21.3, 8p23.3-23.2, 9p23 and 16p12.1 were associated with human height (with borderline significant p value: 0.013, 0.011, 0.024, 0.049; respectively). However, after multiple tests correction, none of them was associated with human height. We observed that the gain of copy number (more than 2 copies) at 8p23.3-23.2 was associated with lower height (normal copy number vs. gain of copy number: 161.2 cm vs. 153.7 cm, p = 0.011), which accounted for 0.9% of height variation. Loss of copy number (less than 2 copies) at 6p21.3 was associated with 0.8% lower height (loss of copy number vs. normal copy number: 154.5 cm vs. 161.1 cm, p = 0.013). Since no important genes influencing height located in CNVs at loci of 8p23.3-23.2 and 6p21.3, the two CNVs may cause the structural rear- rangements of neighbored important candidate genes, thus regulates the variation of height. Our results expand our knowledge of the genetic factors underlying height variation and the biological regulation of human height.Xi Li Lijun Tan Xiaogang Liu Shufeng Lei Tielin Yang Xiangding Chen Fang Zhang Yue Fang Yan Guo Liang Zhang Han Yan Feng Pan Zhixin Zhang Yumei Peng Qi Zhou Lina He Xuezhen Zhu Jing Cheng Lishu Zhang Yaozhong Liu Qing Tian Hongwen Deng 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,12:1
Distribution of reactive aluminum under the influence of mesoscale eddies in the western South China Sea显示文摘To understand the distribution of aluminum(Al) under the influence of mesocale eddies in the western South China Sea(SCS), sea level anomaly, geostrophic current, environmental parameters and reactive Al were investigated in the western SCS in August 2013. The highest reactive Al concentration((180±64) nmol/L) was observed in the surface waters, indicating a substantial atmospheric input. Vertically, the reactive Al decreased from the surface high concentration to the subsurface minima at the depth of chlorophyll a(Chl a) maxima and then increased again with depth at most of the stations. The average concentration of reactive Al in the upper 100 m water column was significantly lower in the cyclonic eddy((137±6) nmol/L) as compared with that in the noneddy waters((180±21) nmol/L). By contrast, the average concentrations of Chl a and silicate in the upper 100 m water column were higher in the cyclonic eddy and lower in the anticyclonic eddy. There was a significant negative correlation between the average concentrations of reactive Al and Chl a in the upper 100 m water column. The vertical distribution of reactive Al and the negative correlation between reactive Al and Chl a both suggest that the reactive Al in the upper water column was significantly influenced by biological removal processes. Our results indicate that mesoscale eddies could regulate the distribution of reactive Al by influencing the primary production and phytoplankton community structure in the western SCS.LIU Jiaxing ZHOU Linbin TAN Yehui WANG Qionga HU Zifeng LI Jiajun JIANG Xin KE Zhixin 2017Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,6:1

Progress in efficient doping of Al-rich AlGaN显示文摘The development of semiconductors is always accompanied by the progress in controllable doping techniques.Taking AlGaN-based ultraviolet(UV)emitters as an example, despite a peak wall-plug efficiency of 15.3%at the wavelength of 275 nm,there is still a huge gap in comparison with GaN-based visible light-emitting diodes(LEDs),mainly attributed to the inefficient doping of AlGaN with increase of the Al composition.First,p-doping of Al-rich AlGaN is a long-standing challenge and the low hole concentration seriously restricts the carrier injection efficiency.Although p-GaN cladding layers are widely adopted as a compromise, the high injection barrier of holes as well as the inevitable loss of light extraction cannot be neglected. While in terms of n-doping the main issue is the degradation of the electrical property when the Al composition exceeds 80%,resulting in a low electrical efficiency in sub-250 nm UV-LEDs.This review summarizes the recent advances and outlines the major challenges in the efficient doping of Al-rich AlGaN,meanwhile the corresponding approaches pursued to overcome the doping issues are discussed in detail.Jiaming Wang Fujun Xu Lisheng Zhang Jing Lang Xuzhou Fang Ziyao Zhang Xueqi Guo Chen Ji Chengzhi Ji Fuyun Tan Xuelin Yang Xiangning Kang Zhixin Qin Ning Tang Xinqiang Wang Weikun Ge Bo Shen 2024Journal of Semiconductors2024,45,2:0
