3Effects of Tai Ji Quan training on gait kinematics in older Chinese women with knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background: Although Tai Ji Quan has been shown to relieve pain and improve functional mobility in people with knee osteoarthritis(OA), little is known about its potential benefits on gait characteristics among older Chinese women who have a high prevalence of both radiographic and symptomatic knee OA. This study aims to assess the efficacy of a tailored Tai Ji Quan intervention on gait kinematics for older Chinese women with knee OA.Methods: A randomized controlled trial involving 46 older women in Shanghai, China, with clinically diagnosed knee OA. Randomized(1:1)participants received either a 60 min Tai Ji Quan session(n = 23) 3 times weekly or a 60 min bi-weekly educational session(n = 23) for 24 weeks.Primary outcomes were changes in gait kinematic measures from baseline to 24 weeks. Secondary outcomes included changes in scores on the Western Ontario and Mc Master University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) and Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB).Results: After 24 weeks the Tai Ji Quan group demonstrated better performance in gait velocity(mean difference, 8.40 cm/s, p = 0.01), step length(mean difference, 3.52 cm, p = 0.004), initial contact angle(mean difference, 2.19°, p = 0.01), and maximal angle(mean difference, 2.61°,p = 0.003) of flexed knees during stance phase compared to the control group. In addition, the Tai Ji Quan group showed significant improvement in WOMAC scores(p < 0.01)(mean difference,-4.22 points in pain, p = 0.002;-2.41 points in stiffness, p < 0.001;-11.04 points in physical function, p = 0.006) and SPPB scores(mean difference, 1.22 points, p < 0.001).Conclusion: Among older Chinese women with knee OA, a tailored Tai Ji Quan intervention improved gait outcomes. The intervention also improved overall function as indexed by the WOMAC and SPPB. 4Total pollution effect of urban surface runoff显示文摘For pollution research with regard to urban surface runoff,most sampling strategies to date have focused on differences in land usage. With single land-use sampling,total surface runoffpollution effect cannot be evaluated unless every land usage spot is monitored. Through a new sampling strategy known as mixed stormwater sampling for a street community at discharge outlet adjacent to river,this study assessed the total urban surface runoffpollution effect caused by a variety of land uses and the pollutants washed off from the rain pipe system in the Futian River watershed in Shenzhen City of China.The water quality monitoring indices were COD(chemical oxygen demand),TSS(total suspend solid),TP(total phosphorus),TN(total nitrogen)and BOD(biochemical oxygen demand).The sums of total pollution loads discharged into the river for the four indices of COD,TSS,TN,and TP over all seven rainfall events were very different.The mathematical model for simulating total pollution loads was established from discharge outlet mixed stormwater sampling of total pollution loads on the basis of four parameters:rainfall intensity,total land area,impervious land area,and pervious land area.In order to treat surface runoffpollution,the values of MFF30(mass first flush ratio)and FF30(first 30%of runoffvolume) can be considered as split-flow control criteria to obtain more effective and economical design of structural BMPs(best management practices)facilities.LUO Hongbing LUO Lin HUANG Gu LIU Ping LI Jingxian HU Sheng WANG Fuxiang XU Rui HUANG Xiaoxue 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9:13
5Ultrasonic-assisted Oxidation Leaching of Nickel Sulfide Concentrate显示文摘The feasibility of oxidation leaching process of nickel from nickel sulfide ore and the form of different components in the lixivium has been studied at first. The method of leaching nickel sulfide concentration directly by oxidants with existence of ultrasonic has been advanced. The process of leaching nickel from nickel sulfide concentration by using the system of persulfate and silver has been determined. The influence of different factors on the leaching rates of nickel,such as with and without ultrasonic,the concentration of Na2S2O8,liquid-solid ratio and the concentration of AgNO3 have been explored. The results show that:(1) in the oxidative leaching system,nickel can be leached completely as Ni2+ or NiSO4(aq.) from nickel sulfide concentration in theory;(2) the nicopyrite can not exist steadily in the persulfate acid leaching system,but Ni2+can. Meanwhile,sulfur may be existed steadily in the leaching process;(3) nicopyrite with much lower electrostatic potential may be leached earlier than chalcopyrite and sideropyrite;and(4) the overall reaction rate of the leaching process can be enhanced with ultrasonic radiation,but it does not change the mechanism of leaching. The more oxidant concentration or higher liquid-solid ratio is,the higher leaching percentage of nickel. The leaching percentage of nickel can be increased significantly by adding a small amount of AgNO3 during the leaching processes. 6Experimental investigation on drag reduction in turbulent boundary layer over superhydrophobic surface by TRPIV显示文摘This study aims at the mechanism of drag reduction in turbulent boundary layer(TBL) with superhydrophobic surface.Comparing the time-resolved particle image velocimetry(TRPIV) measurement results with that of hydrophilic surface,the drag reduction rate over a superhydrophobic surface is approximately10%.To investigate the characteristics of coherent structure in a drag-reduced TBL with superhydrophobic surface,a modified multi-scale spatial locally-averaged structure function is proposed for detecting coherent structure.The conditional sampling and spatial phase-lock average methods are employed to obtain the topology of physical quantities like the velocity fluctuation,spanwise vorticity,and Reynolds stress during eject and sweep process.The results indicate that the suppression of coherent structure burst in the near-wall region is the key mechanism in reducing the skin friction drag for TBL over superhydrophobic surface.Haiping Tian Jingxian Zhang Erdan Wang Zhaohui Yao Nan Jiang 2015Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2015,5,1:7

8Laboratory evaluation of cement treated aggregate containing crushed clay brick显示文摘The waste clay bricks fromdebris of buildings were evaluated through lab tests as environmental friendly materials for pavement sub-base in the research. Five sets of coarse aggregates which contained 0,25%,50%,75% and 100% crushed bricks,respectively,were blended with sand and treated by 5% cement. The test results indicated that cement treated aggregate which contains crushed clay brick aggregate had a lower maximumdry density( M DD) and a higher optimummoisture content( OMC). Moreover,the unconfined compressive strength( UCS),resilience modulus,splitting strength,and frost resistance performance of the specimens decreased with increase of the amount of crushed clay brick aggregate. On the other hand,it can be observed that the use of crushed clay brick in the mixture decreased the dry shrinkage strain of the specimens. Compared with the asphalt pavement design specifications of China,the results imply that the substitution rate of natural aggregate with crushed clay brick aggregate in the cement treated aggregate sub-base material should be less than 50%( 5% cement content in the mixture). 12Monitoring paddy rice phenology using time series MODIS data over Jiangxi Province,China显示文摘Paddy rice is one of the most important crops in the world.Accurate estimation and monitoring of paddy rice phenology is necessary for management and yield prediction.Remotely sensed time-series data are essential for estimation of crop phenology stages across large areas.Here,the paddy rice phenological stages(i.e.,transplanting,tillering,heading,and harvesting)were detected in Jiangxi Province,China.A comparison study was conducted using ground observation data from 10 agricultural meteorological stations,collected between 2006 and 2008.The phenological stages were detected using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)time-series enhanced vegetation index(EVI)data.Savitzky-Golay filter and wavelet transform were used to reduce the noise in the time-series EVI data and reconstruct the smoothed EVI time-series profile.Key phenological stages of double-cropping rice were detected using the characteristics of the smoothed EVI profile.The root mean square errors(RMSEs)for each stage were ±10 days around the ground observation data.The results suggest that Savitzky-Golay filter and wavelet transform are promising approaches for reconstructing high-quality EVI time-series data.Moreover,the phenological stages of double-cropping rice could be detected using time-series MODIS EVI data smoothed by Savitzky-Golay filter and wavelet transform.Li Shihua Xiao Jiangtao Ni Ping Zhang Jing Wang Hongshu Wang Jingxian 2014International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,6:3
