1Rare earth oxides and their supported noble metals in application of environmental catalysis显示文摘Volatile organic compounds(VOCs),methane,carbon monoxide,soot,automotive exhaust,and nitrogen oxides are harmful to the atmosphere and human health.It is urgent to strictly control their emissions.Heterogeneous catalysis is an effective pathway for the removal of these pollutants,and the critical issue is the development of novel and high-performance catalysts.In this review,we briefly summarize the preparation methods,physicochemical properties,catalytic activities,and related reaction mechanisms for the above pollutants removal of the rare earth oxides,mixed rare earth oxide,rare earth oxidesupported noble metal,and mixed rare earth oxide-supported noble metal catalysts that have been investigated by our group and other researchers.It was found that catalytic performance was associated with the factors,such as specific surface area,pore structure,particle size and dispersion,adsorbed oxygen species concentration,reducibility,reactant activation ability or interaction between metal nanoparticles and support.Furthermore,we also envision the development trend of such a topic in future work.Zhiquan Hou Wenbo Pei Xing Zhang Kunfeng Zhang Yuxi Liu Jiguang Deng Lin Jing Hongxing Dai 2020Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,8:10
2A 3D-Bioprinted dual growth factor-releasing intervertebral disc scaffold induces nucleus pulposus and annulus fibrosus reconstruction显示文摘Regeneration of Intervertebral disc(IVD)is a scientific challenge because of the complex structure and composition of tissue,as well as the difficulty in achieving bionic function.Here,an anatomically correct IVD scaffold composed of biomaterials,cells,and growth factors were fabricated via three-dimensional(3D)bioprinting technology.Connective tissue growth factor(CTGF)and transforming growth factor-β3(TGF-β3)were loaded onto polydopamine nanoparticles,which were mixed with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)for regenerating and simulating the structure and function of the nucleus pulposus and annular fibrosus.In vitro experiments confirmed that CTGF and TGF-β3 could be released from the IVD scaffold in a spatially controlled manner,and induced the corresponding BMSCs to differentiate into nucleus pulposus like cells and annulus fibrosus like cells.Next,the fabricated IVD scaffold was implanted into the dorsum subcutaneous of nude mice.The reconstructed IVD exhibited a zone-specific matrix that displayed the corresponding histological and immunological phenotypes:primarily type II collagen and glycosaminoglycan in the core zone,and type I collagen in the surrounding zone.The testing results demonstrated that it exhibited good biomechanical function of the reconstructed IVD.The results presented herein reveal the clinical application potential of the dual growth factors-releasing IVD scaffold fabricated via 3D bioprinting.However,the evaluation in large mammal animal models needs to be further studied.Binbin Sun Meifei Lian Yu Han Xiumei Mo Wenbo Jiang Zhiguang Qiao Kerong Dai 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,1:5
33D Printing Hip Prostheses Offer Accurate Reconstruction,Stable Fixation,and Functional Recovery for Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty with Complex Acetabular Bone Defect显示文摘Complicated and large acetabular bone defects present the main challenges and difficulty in the revision of total hip arthroplasty(THA).This study aimed to explore the advantages of three-dimensional(3D)printing technology in the reconstruction of such acetabular bone defects.We retrospectively analyzed the prognosis of four severe bone defects around the acetabulum in three patients who were treated using 3D printing technology.Reconstruction of bone defect by conventional methods was difficult in these patients.In this endeavor,we used radiographic methods,related computer software such as Materialise's interactive medical image control system and Siemens NX software,and actual surgical experience to estimate defect volume,prosthesis stability,and installation accuracy,respectively.Moreover,a Harris hip score was obtained to evaluate limb function.It was found that bone defects could be adequately reconstructed using a 3D printing prosthesis,and its stability was reliable.The Harris hip score indicated a very good functional recovery in all three patients.In conclusion,3D printing technology had a good therapeutic effect on both complex and large bone defects in the revision of THA.It was able to achieve good curative effects in patients with large bone defects.Yongqiang Hao Lei Wang Wenbo Jiang Wen Wu Songtao Ai Lu Shen Shuang Zhao Kerong Dai 2020Engineering2020,6,11:4

5Contribution of friction and adhesion to the reliable attachment of a gecko to smooth inclines显示文摘Geckos' ability to move on steep surfaces depends on their excellent adhesive structure, timely adjustments on locomotor behaviors, and elaborates control on reaction forces. However, it is still unclear how they can generate a sufficient driving force that is necessary for locomotion, while ensuring reliable adhesion on steep inclines. We measured the forces acting on each foot and recorded the contact states between feet and substrates when geckos encountered smooth inclination challenges ranging from 0° to 180°. The critical angles of the resultant force vectors of the front and hind-feet increased with respect to the incline angles. When the incline angle became greater than 120°, the critical angles of the front- and hind-feet were similar, and the averages of the critical angles of the front - and hind-feet were both smaller than 120°, indicating that the complicated and accurate synergy among toes endows gecko's foot an obvious characteristic of 'frictional adhesion' during locomotion. Additionally, we established a contact mechanical model for gecko's foot in order to quantify the contribution of the frictional forces generated by the heel, and the adhesion forces generated by the toes on various inclines. 6Calibration procedures for the CHASE/HIS science data显示文摘The Hα line is an important optical line in solar observations containing the information from the photosphere to the chromosphere. To study the mechanisms of solar eruptions and the plasma dynamics in the lower atmosphere, the Chinese Hα Solar Explorer(CHASE) was launched into a Sun-synchronous orbit on October 14, 2021. The scientific payload of the CHASE satellite is the Hα Imaging Spectrograph(HIS). The CHASE/HIS acquires, for the first time, seeing-free Hα spectroscopic observations with high spectral and temporal resolutions. It consists of two observational modes. The raster scanning mode provides full-Sun or region-of-interest spectra at Hα(6559.7-6565.9 ?) and Fe I(6567.8-6570.6 ?) wavebands. The continuum imaging mode obtains full-Sun photospheric images at around 6689 ?. In this paper, we present detailed calibration procedures for the CHASE/HIS science data, including the dark-field and flat-field correction, slit image curvature correction, wavelength and intensity calibration, and coordinate transformation. 8Heterogeneous pigeon-inspired optimization显示文摘Pigeon-inspired optimization(PIO) is a swarm intelligence optimizer inspired by the homing behavior of pigeons. PIO consists of two optimization stages which employ the map and compass operator,and the landmark operator, respectively. In canonical PIO, these two operators treat every bird equally,which deviates from the fact that birds usually act heterogenous roles in nature. In this paper, we propose a new variant of PIO algorithm considering bird heterogeneity — HPIO. Both of the two operators are improved through dividing the birds into hub and non-hub roles. By dividing the birds into two groups, these two groups of birds are respectively assigned with different functions of 'exploitation' and 'exploration', so that they can closely interact with each other to locate the best promising solution. 11Evolutionary biogeography on Ophiocordyceps sinensis:An indicator of molecular phylogeny to geochronological and ecological exchanges显示文摘The fungus Ophiocordyceps sinensis is endemic to the vast region of the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau(QTP).The unique and complex geographical environmental conditions have led to the 'sky island' distribution structure of O.sinensis.Due to limited and unbalanced sample collections,the previous data on O.sinensis regarding its genetic diversity and spatial structure have been deemed insufficient.In this study,we analyzed the diversity and phylogeographic structures of O.sinensis using internally transcribed spacer region(ITS) and 5-locus datasets by a large-scale sampling.A total of 111 haplotypes of ITS sequences were identified from 948 samples data of the fungus O.sinensis,with representing high genetic diversity,and 8 phylogenetic clades were recognized in O.sinensis.Both the southeastern Tibet and the northwestern Yunnan were the centers of genetic diversity and genetic differentiation of the fungus,and they were inferred as the glacial refugia in the Quaternary.Three distribution patterns were identified to correspond to the 8 clades,including but not limited to the coexistence of widely and specific local distributive structures.It also revealed that the differentiation pattern of O.sinensis did not fit for the isolation-by-distance model.The differentiation into the 8 clades occurred between 1.56 Myr and6.62 Myr.The ancestor of O.sinensis most likely originated in the late Miocene(6.62 Myr) in the northwestern Yunnan,and the Scene A-C of the Qinghai-Tibetan movements may have played an important role in the differentiation of O.sinensis during the late Miocene-Pliocene periods.Our current results provide a much clearer and detailed understanding of the genetic diversity and geographical spatial distribution of the endemic alpine fungus O.sinensis.It also revealed that the geochronology resulting from paleogeology could be cross-examined with biomolecular clock at a finer scale.Yongdong Dai Changkui Wu Feng Yuan Yuanbing Wang Luodong Huang Zihong Chen Wenbo Zeng Yao Wang Zhuliang Yang Pusheng Zeng Paul Lemetti Xuanxue Mo Hong Yu 2020Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,3:2

15Organic Host-Guest Materials with Bright Red Room-Temperature Phosphorescence for Persistent Bioimaging显示文摘Organic room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)materials have attracted immense attention in bioimaging due to their long emission lifetime and large Stokes shift.RTP materials with long emission wavelength can improve the penetration depth for bioimaging.However,the design of red persistent RTP materials is still challenging.In this study,a fused-ring structure has been proposed to effectively decrease the triplet energy level,thus extending the emission wavelength of phosphorescence.In addition,the fused-ring structure exhibits a high molar extinction coefficient(ɛ)and high luminescence efficiency due to the rigid structure.A new class of crystalline hosts(iminodibenzyl,IDB)are developed to stabilize the triplet excitons that are generated from the fused-ring molecules.The maximum RTP wavelength of doping materials can reach 635 nm with a lifetime of 9.35 ms.Water-disperse nanoparticles are successfully prepared for in vivo time-resolved bioimaging,which eliminates the background fluorescence interference from biological tissues.These reveal a delicate design strategy for the construction of long-wavelength emissive RTP materials for high-resolution bioimaging.Yueyue Si Yeyun Zhao Wenbo Dai Shisheng Cui Peng Sun Jianbing Shi Bin Tong Zhengxu Cai Yuping Dong 2023Chinese Journal of Chemistry2023,41,13:1

19A stereotaxic method and apparatus for the Gekko gecko显示文摘To study the modulation mechanism of the middle brain of the Gekko to the locomotion, we introduced a stereotaxic method first in literature and developed an apparatus suitable for Gekko gecko, the big-gest wall and ceiling climber in nature. We defined the bregma and nasal points as reference points, selected the bilateral infraorbital margin and top point of the maxillary tooth for locating and fixing, and set up the line passing through the bregma and paralleling to a line connecting the bilateral infraorbital margin as x axis. Then, we defined a horizontal plane in the stereotaxic instrument, passing through x axis and the certain point which is 4.8 mm exactly above the nasal point, as the XOY plane; the sagittal plane, i.e. the YOZ plane, is the plane which is perpendicular to x axis and passes through the bregma; the plane, i.e. the XOZ plane, which passes through x axis and is perpendicular to the horizontal plane is the coronal plane. We designed a set of head holder which includes three parts: bilateral infraorbital margin clamps, a gecko adaptor holding the rostral side of the upper jaw. 20Regulating the formation ability and mechanical properties of high-entropy transition metal carbides by carbon stoichiometry显示文摘Tremendous efforts have been dedicated to promote the formation ability of high-entropy transition metal carbides.However,the majority of methods for the synthesis of high-entropy transition metal carbides still face the challenges of high temperature,low efficiency,additional longtime post-treatment and uncontrollable properties.To cope with these challenges,high-entropy transition metal carbides with regulatable carbon stoichiometry(HE TMC)were designed and synthesized,achieving improved ability for single phase solid solutions formation,promoting of sintering and controllable mechanical properties.Two typical composition series,i.e.,easily synthesized(ZrHfTaNb)C(ZHTNC)and difficultly synthesized(Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25)Ta_(0.25)Ti_(0.25))C(ZHTTC)are selected to demonstrate the promoting formation ability of single phase solid solutions from carbon stoichiometry deviations.Single phase high-entropy ZHTTC,which has been proven difficult in forming a single phase solid solution,can be prepared with the decrease of C/TM ratio under 2000℃;while the high-entropy ZHTNC,which has been proven easy in forming a single phase solid solution,can be synthesized at lower temperatures with the decrease of C/TM ratio.The synergistic effect of entropy stabilization and reduced chemical bond strength gaining from carbon stoichiometry deviations is responsible for the formation of single phase solid solutions and the promoted sintering of HE TMC.For example,the relative density of bulk(ZrHfTaNb)C(SPS-ZHTNC)increases from 90.98%to 94.25%with decreasing the C/TM atomic ratio from 0.9 to 0.74.More importantly,the room temperature flexural strength,fracture toughness and brittleness index of SPS-ZHTNCcan be tuned in the range of 384 MPa–419 MPa,4.41 MPam–4.73 MPamand 3.679μm–4.083μm,respectively.Thus,the HE TMCprepared by adjusting the ratio of carbon to refractory transition metal oxides have great potential for achieving low temperature synthesis,promoted sintering and tunable properties.Juntao Song Guiqing Chen Huimin Xiang Fuzhi Dai Shun Dong Wenbo Han Xinghong Zhang Yanchun Zhou 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,26:1
