1GBSS-BINDING PROTEIN,encoding a CBM48 domain-containing protein,affects rice quality and yield^∞显示文摘The percentage of amylose in the endosperm of rice(Oryza sativa)largely determines grain cooking and eating qualities.Granule-bound starch synthase I(GBSSI)and GBSSII are responsible for amylose biosynthesis in the endosperm and leaf,respectively.Here,we identified OsGBP,a rice GBSS-binding protein that interacted with GBSSI and GBSSII in vitro and in vivo.The total starch and amylose contents in osgbp mutants were significantly lower than those of wild type in leaves and grains,resulting in reduced grain weight and quality.The carbohydrate-binding module 48(CBM48)domain present in the C-terminus of OsGBP is crucial for OsGBP binding to starch.In the osgbp mutant,the extent of GBSSI and GBSSII binding to starch in the leaf and endospermwas significantly lower than wild type.Our data suggest that OsGBP plays an important role in leaf and endosperm starch biosynthesis by mediating the binding of GBSS proteins to developing starch granules.This elucidation of the function of OsGBP enhances our understanding of the molecular basis of starch biosyn-thesis in rice and contributes information that can be potentially used for the genetic improvement of yield and grain quality.Wei Wang Xiangjin Wei Guiai Jiao Wenqiang Chen Yawen Wu Zhonghua Sheng Shikai Hu Lihong Xie Jiayu Wang Shaoqing Tang Peisong Hu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,7:12
2OsVP1 activates Sdr4 expression to control rice seed dormancy via the ABA signaling pathway显示文摘Pre-harvest sprouting(PHS)is a disadvantageous trait in cereal production worldwide,causing large economic losses each year.Its regulation mechanism is still unclear.We generated the Oryza sativa Viviparous1(OsVP1)mutant using gene editing technique,which shows increased PHS compared with that of the wild type Nipponbare.OsVP1 is localized mainly in the nucleus and expressed in various tissues and organs.Expression of Seed dormancy 4(Sdr4),a key gene controlling PHS,was sharply reduced in OsVP1 mutants.OsVP1 bound to the specific motif CACCTG in the promoter of Sdr4 and activated its expression in rice protoplasts.Overexpression of Sdr4 reduced the high seed germination rate of OsVP1 mutant cr-osvp1-1,showing that Sdr4 acts as a downstream target of OsVP1.Both OsVP1 and Sdr4 loss-of-function mutants were insensitive to exogenous ABA and employed the ABA signaling pathway in regulating seed dormancy.These findings shed light on the control of seed dormancy aimed at preventing PHS in rice.Wenqiang Chen Wei Wang Yusong Lyu Yawen Wu Pingliang Huang Shikai Hu Xiangjin Wei Guiai Jiao Zhonghua Sheng Shaoqing Tang Gaoneng Shao Ju Luo 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,1:5

6Stabilization Mechanism of Calcium Lignosulphonate Used in Expansion Sensitive Soil显示文摘A series of tests were performed to investigate the macroscopic properties and the stabilization mechanism of calcium lignosulphonate modified expansive soil.Compared with natural soil,soil modified by 4%calcium lignosulphonate showed 56.5%increased 28 days unconfined compressive strength and 23.8%decreased free expansion rate.The X-ray diffraction analysis results indicate the existence of cation exchange and the reduction of montmorillonite interplanar spacing.The X-computed tomography results demonstrate that calcium lignosulphonate decreased the porosity and optimized the pore distribution.The calcium lignosulphonate also increased the stability of the suspension system according to the Zeta potential results.Moreover,the results of rheological tests show that the moderate amount of calcium lignosulphonate enhanced the yield stress and the plastic viscosity,proving the formation of a strong connection between soil particles.吴大江 佘伟 WEI Luansu ZUO Wenqiang HU Xiangyu HONG Jinxiang MIAO Changwen 2020Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2020,35,5:2

9Ti2AlC triggered in-situ ultrafine TiC/Inconel 718 composites:Microstructure and enhanced properties显示文摘In situ ultrafine TiC dispersion reinforced Inconel 718 alloy with enhanced mechanical properties was fabricated by the technique of reactive hot-press sintering Ti2AlC and In718 powders.The effect of Ti2AlC precursor additions(5 vol.%,10 vol.%,15 vol.%)on microstructure and mechanical properties of TiC/In718 composites were investigated.A relationship of microstructural characteristics,room and elevated temperature mechanical performance,and underlying strengthening mechanisms were analyzed.The results show that initial Ti2AlC precursor transformed completely into ultrafine TiC particulate(~230 nm)and distributed uniformly in the matrix after sintering 5 and 10 vol.%Ti2AlC/In718.However,TiC particulates tended to aggregate to stripes with the addition of Ti2AlC up to 15 vol.%,which,in adverse,weaken the properties of In718.The 5 vol.%Ti2AlC/In718 sample showed a higher tensile strength of 1404±13 MPa with a noticeable elongation of 9.8%at room temperature compared to the pure In718(ultimate tensile strength(UTS)=1310 MPa,elongation=21.5%).At 600℃,700℃,800℃and 900℃,tensile strength of the as-sintered 5 vol.%Ti2AlC/In718 composite was determined to be 1333±13 MPa,1010±10 MPa,685±25 MPa and 276±3 MPa,increased by 9.2%,14.6%,14.2%and 55%,respectively,compared with that of monolithic In718 alloy.The excellent tensile properties of TiC/In718 composite can be ascribed to the combined mechanisms in term of increased dislocation density,dispersive Orowan and load transfer mechanisms.Wenqiang Hu Zhenying Huang Qun Yu Yuanbo Wang Yidan Jiao Cong Lei Leping Cai Hongxiang Zhai Yang Zhou 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,16:1

12Preparation and electronic characteristics of anionic perylene bisimide films显示文摘Neutral perylene bisimides(PBI) are well-known n-type organic semiconductors, with number of challenging electronic properties in their neutral and reduced states. We report the characteristic electronic properties of PBI anionic films. We unexpectedly discovered that pristine PBI dianion film showed p-type character, while oxidized dianion film(dominant neutral state with few radical anions) showed normal n-type semiconductor character based on Seebeck effect measurements. Both kinds of films exhibit high electrical conductivity with a potential for thermoelectric applications. 14Correlation between heart rate variability and pupillary reflex in healthy adult subjects under the influence of alcohol显示文摘This study explored the association between pupil area variation, heart rate variability, and fatigue, caused by alcohol consumption. Sixteen healthy young male volunteers were enrolled in this study for a series of structured physical examinations. Individual drinking volume was strictly assessed in accordance with the normalized experimental design. The motions of the subjects' pupils, as well as electrocardiograms were recorded by a computerized recording system, both before and after drinking alcohol. After alcohol intake, the pupil diameter, and both low frequency and standard deviation of all heartbeat interval indices of heart rate variability showed significant variations compared with the baseline. In addition, time- and frequency-domain indices of heart rate variability were negatively associated with pupil area. 15Heat-resistant Al_(2)O_(3) nanowire-polyetherimide separator for safer and faster lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Poor heat/flame-resistance of polyolefin(e.g.,polyethylene and polypropylene)separators and high flammability of organic electrolytes used in today’s lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)may trigger rare yet potentially catastrophic safety issues.Here,we mitigate this challenge by developing a heat-resistant and flame-retardant porous composite membrane composed of polyetherimide(PEI)and Al_(2)O_(3) nanowires(NWs).The membranes are fabricated based on an industrially scalable non-solvent-induced phase separation process,which results in an intimately interconnected porous network of Al_(2)O_(3) NWs and PEI.The produced composite membranes exhibit excellent flexibility,thermal stability,and flame-retardancy.Importantly,the composite membranes exhibit minimal thermal shrinkage and superior tensile strength(16 MPa)at temperatures as high as 200℃,significantly exceeding the performance of conventional polyolefin separators.Compared with commercial separators,their superior wettability and higher ionic conductivity(by up to 2.4 times)when filled with the same electrolyte,larger electrolyte uptake(-190 wt.%),as well as improved cycle and rate performance demonstrated in LiNiMnCoO_(2)(NCM)-based LIBs make them attractive choices for a variety of electrochemical energy storage devices.Wenqiang Hu Wenbin Fu Samik Jhulki Liang Chen Aashray Narla Zhijian Sun Fujia Wang Alexandre Magasinski Gleb Yushin 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,11:0

18Proactive planning of bandwidth resource using simulation-based what-if predictions for Web services in the cloud显示文摘Resource planning is becoming an increasingly important and timely problem for cloud users.As more Web services are moved to the cloud,minimizing network usage is often a key driver of cost control.Most existing approaches focus on resources such as CPU,memory,and disk I/O.In particular,CPU receives the most attention from researchers,but the bandwidth is somehow neglected.It is challenging to predict the network throughput of modem Web services,due to the factors of diverse and complex response,evolving Web services,and complex network transportation.In this paper,we propose a methodology of what-if analysis,named Log2Sim,to plan the bandwidth resource of Web services.Log2Sim uses a lightweight workload model to describe user behavior,an automated mining approach to obtain characteristics of workloads and responses from massive Web logs,and traffic-aware simulations to predict the impact on the bandwidth consumption and the response time in changing contexts.We use a real-life Web system and a classic benchmark to evaluate Log2Sim in multiple scenarios.The evaluation result shows that Log2Sim has good performance in the prediction of bandwidth consumption.The average relative error is 2%for the benchmark and 8% for the real-life system.As for the response time,Log2Sim cannot produce accurate predictions for every single service request,but the simulation results always show similar trends on average response time with the increase of workloads in different changing contexts.It can provide sufficient information for the system administrator in proactive bandwidth planning.Jianpeng HU Linpeng HUANG Tianqi SUN Ying FAN Wenqiang HU Hao ZHONG 2021Frontiers of Computer Science2021,15,1:0
19Dissection of heterotic loci for grain yield using interconnected chromosome segment substitution lines in rice显示文摘Heterosis contributes greatly to crop production, but the genetic basis of heterosis is not fully understood.To identify heterotic loci(HLs) for grain yield, 12 yield traits were evaluated in four rice(Oryza sativa L.)mapping populations: one parental population of chromosome segment substitution lines derived from a cross between the japonica cultivar Nipponbare and indica cultivar 9311 and three connected test populations in either a homozygous 9311 genetic background or a heterozygous background. A total of 390 HLs were detected for the measured traits in two environments. The genetic bases of heterosis differed between the backcross and testcross populations. At least 10 HLs were confirmed in F1 hybrids between9311 and near-isogenic lines, each of which carried a heterotic locus of interest in the same 9311 background. All 10 showed overdominant or dominant effects on grain yield and yield components. Among them, three were verified as being associated with yield heterosis and colocalized in the same regions as those containing previously reported heterosis-associated genes. Five HLs were identified to be promising candidate loci that could be used to achieve more than 15% yield heterosis in several commercial rice hybrids. 20A review of optically induced rotation显示文摘The optical rotation technique arose in the 1990 s.Optical tweezer brought an ideal platform for research on the angular momentum of laser beams.For decades,the optical rotation technique has been widely applied in laboratory optical manipulation and the fields of biology and optofluidics.Recently,it has attracted much attention for its potential in the classical and quantum regimes.In this work,we review the progress of experiments and applications of optically induced rotation.First,we introduce the basic exploration of angular momentum.Then,we cover the development and application of optical rotation induced by orbital angular momentum,and the spin angular momentum is presented.Finally,we elaborate on recent applications of the optical rotation technique in high vacuum.As precise optical manipulation in a liquid medium enters its maturity,optical tweezers in high vacuum open a new path for the high-speed micro-rotor.Qi ZHU Nan LI Heming SU Wenqiang LI Huizhu HU 2022Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2022,23,2:0
