| 1 | Using acupoint-to-acupoint penetrative needling to treat poststroke spastic paralysis:a clinical progress review显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine the characteristics and advantages of acupoint-to-acupoint penetrative needling(AAPN) treatment for post-stroke spastic paralysis(PSSP) to improve the clinical outcomes of this disease in the future.METHODS: Randomized, controlled trials of PSSP patients receiving AAPN treatment were searched from MEDLINE, EMBASE, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database between January 2006 and June 2013. Key words included: clinic or clinical, acupuncture, needling, acupoint-to-acupoint, penetrative or penetration or penetrating,stroke or apoplexy or cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage, spastic paralysis or spasticity or palsy,and hypermyotonia. Language was limited to English and Chinese. Case series reports, review articles, and animal studies were excluded.RESULTS: AAPN showed better clinical results on PSSP than other acupuncture treatments, especially when combined with adjunct therapies such as electroacupuncture, bloodletting, and rehabilitation. The greatest benefit was achieved with rehabilitation combined with penetration from Yang-channel acupoints to Yin-channel acupoints in the upper limbs, and from Yin-channel acupoints to Yang-channel acupoints in the lower limbs with a reinforcing maneuver.CONCLUSION: AAPN is an effective treatment for PSSP, and it can accelerate and enhance functional repair of PSSP patients. | Xiafei Liu Chunling Bao Guirong Dong | 2014 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,5: | 7 |

| 4 | Strontium isotopic signature of hydrothermal sedimenta- tion from Early Cambrian barite deposits in east Guizhou,China显示文摘The ore genesis model for barite deposits in east Guizhou Province has been in dispute and the major debate focuses on whether they are product of the submarine hydrothermal sedimentation. This note presents new stron- tium isotope data from 19 samples of Dahebian and Yuping barite deposits, and their 87Sr/86Sr ratios are significantly lower than that of the coeval seawater. The Sr/86Sr ratios of 87 17 samples out of 19 samples rang from 0.708310 to0.708967, indicating that theymight be related to the mantel admixture. Two isotopic ratios in this study are higher than those of coeval seawater (0.7090), collected from late-stage barite mineral vein of interpenetrative strata and a barite nodule bearing hypidiomorphic granular pyrite, which indicates that they might be related to the continental admixture. | 5 | Evening exercise is associated with lower odds of visual field progression in Chinese patients with primary open angle glaucoma显示文摘Background:Exercise is widely known to lower intraocular pressure and increase ocular blood flow,which may be beneficial for glaucoma management.However,there are few studies that have reported on the relationship between exercise and glaucoma progression.The aim of our study was to investigate the exercise habits of those with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)and its association with the progression of visual field(VF)loss.Methods:Daily physical activity(PA)was monitored by an accelerometer(ActiGraph wGT3x-BT)which patients wore for more than 10 h of being awake on their right wrists for 1 week.Results:Seventy-one non-progressive and 27 progressive patients were enrolled in the study.24-h moderate to vigorous physical activity(MVPA)exercise showed that POAG patients had similar variation trends consisting of 3 wave peaks and 2 wave hollows.Minutes spent in MVPA was 19.89±15.81 and 21.62±15.10 during 07:00–09:00 h(p=0.204),15.40±14.49 and 15.67±12.43 during 15:00–17:00 h(p=0.822)and 17.26±21.11 and 11.42±11.58 during 18:00–20:00 h(p=0.001)in the non-progressive and progressive group,respectively.Univariate analysis indicated that 10 min of MVPA(18:00–20:00 h)[odds ratio,OR(95%CI)=0.82(0.73,0.92)],average mean arterial pressure[OR(95%CI)=0.96(0.94,0.98)],age[OR(95%CI)=1.06(1.03,1.08)],male[OR(95%CI)=0.67(0.48,0.96)],spherical equivalent[OR(95%CI)=1.14(1.07,1.22)]and IOP-lowering medications[OR(95%CI)=1.54(1.16,2.05)]were significantly correlated with having progressive VF damage.Multivariable analysis showed that 10 min of MVPA(18:00–20:00 h)[OR(95%CI)=0.85(0.75,0.97)]was associated with progressive VF loss even after adjusting for other risk factors.Conclusions:Evening exercise may lower the odds of VF progression,suggesting that exercise habits possibly play an important role in glaucoma progression. | Xiafei Pan Kai Xu Xin Wang Guofu Chen Huanhuan Cheng Alice Jia Liu Laurence Tang Hou Lin Zhong Jie Chen Yuanbo Liang | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020,7,1: | 2 |
| 6 | Metagenomic insights into the effects of submerged plants on functional potential of microbial communities in wetland sediments显示文摘Submerged plants in wetlands play important roles as ecosystem engineers to improve self-purification and promote elemental cycling.However,their effects on the functional capacity of microbial communities in wetland sediments remain poorly understood.Here,we provide detailed metagenomic insights into the biogeochemical potential of microbial communities in wetland sediments with and without submerged plants(i.e.,Vallisneria natans).A large number of functional genes involved in carbon(C),nitrogen(N)and sulfur(S)cycling were detected in the wetland sediments.However,most functional genes showed higher abundance in sediments with submerged plants than in those without plants.Based on the comparison of annotated functional genes in the N and S cycling databases(i.e.,NCycDB and SCycDB),we found that genes involved in nitrogen fixation(e.g.,nifD/H/K/W),assimilatory nitrate reduction(e.g.,nasA and nirA),denitrification(e.g.,nirK/S and nosZ),assimilatory sulfate reduction(e.g.,cysD/H/J/N/Q and sir),and sulfur oxidation(e.g.,glpE,soeA,sqr and sseA)were significantly higher(correctedp<0.05)in vegetated vs.unvegetated sediments.This could be mainly driven by environmental factors including total phosphorus,total nitrogen,and C:N ratio.The binning of metagenomes further revealed that some archaeal taxa could have the potential of methane metabolism including hydrogenotrophic,acetoclastic,and methylotrophic methanogenesis,which are crucial to the wetland methane budget and carbon cycling.This study opens a new avenue for linking submerged plants with microbial functions,and has further implications for understanding global carbon,nitrogen and sulfur cycling in wetland ecosystems. | Binhao Wang Xiafei Zheng Hangjun Zhang Xiaoli Yu Yingli Lian Xueqin Yang Huang Yu Ruiwen Hu Zhili He Fanshu Xiao Qingyun Yan | 2021 | Marine Life Science & Technology2021,3,4: | 1 |

Sedimentary environments and fades of alluvial fans and pebbly braided rivers, sandy braided rivers, meandering rivers, low-sinuosity rivers, swamps and fresh-water lakes are recognized in the group. Climate and tectonics of source areas strongly controlled the evolution of the sedimentary environments and facies in the foredeep. The block faulting in the Bogda Mountains increased the ground slope, which led to a drastic increase in the grain size of the sediments. Humid climate, being beneficial to plant growth, would provide protection of channel banks and at the same time weaken chemical weathering in the source area, thus large amounts of clay materials are available for the formation of clay plugs. The synthesized materials were characterized by the XRD,SEM and the thermal conductivity measuring instrument. The results show at pyrophyllite addition of 30% and treat temperature of 1 400 ℃,the material can achieve linear shrinkage of 6. 6%,apparent porosity of 57%,bulk density of 0. 75 g·cm^(-3),compressive strength of 2. 7 MPa,and thermal conductivity at 350 ℃ of 0. 152-0. 216 W·( m·K)^(-1). | 19 | Deciphering microeukaryotic–bacterial co-occurrence networks in coastal aquaculture ponds显示文摘Microeukaryotes and bacteria are key drivers of primary productivity and nutrient cycling in aquaculture ecosystems.Although their diversity and composition have been widely investigated in aquaculture systems,the co-occurrence bipartite network between microeukaryotes and bacteria remains poorly understood.This study used the bipartite network analysis of high-throughput sequencing datasets to detect the co-occurrence relationships between microeukaryotes and bacteria in water and sediment from coastal aquaculture ponds.Chlorophyta and fungi were dominant phyla in the microeukaryotic–bacterial bipartite networks in water and sediment,respectively.Chlorophyta also had overrepresented links with bacteria in water.Most microeukaryotes and bacteria were classified as generalists,and tended to have symmetric positive and negative links with bacteria in both water and sediment.However,some microeukaryotes with high density of links showed asymmetric links with bacteria in water.Modularity detection in the bipartite network indicated that four microeukaryotes and twelve uncultured bacteria might be potential keystone taxa among the module connections.Moreover,the microeukaryotic–bacterial bipartite network in sediment harbored significantly more nestedness than that in water.The loss of microeukaryotes and generalists will more likely lead to the collapse of positive co-occurrence relationships between microeukaryotes and bacteria in both water and sediment.This study unveils the topology,dominant taxa,keystone species,and robustness in the microeukaryotic–bacterial bipartite networks in coastal aquaculture ecosystems.These species herein can be applied for further management of ecological services,and such knowledge may also be very useful for the regulation of other eutrophic ecosystems. | Xiafei Zheng Kui Xu Jonathan Naoum Yingli Lian Bo Wu Zhili He Qingyun Yan | 2023 | Marine Life Science & Technology2023,5,1: | 0 |

In order to unveil the potentially effective compounds, a rapid ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) method was established to identify prototype compounds and their metabolites from XFZYD in rats’ serum.Methods: The serum from rats after intragastric administration of XFZYD aqueous extract was analyzed by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS method. The prototype compounds and their metabolites were identified by comparison with the reference standards and tentatively characterized by comprehensively analyzing the retention time, MS data, characteristic MS fragmentation pattern and retrieving literatures.Results: A total of 175 compounds(24 prototype compounds and 151 metabolites) were identified and tentatively characterized. The metabolic pathways of prototype compounds in vivo were also summarized, including glucuronidation, hydrolyzation, sulfation, demethylation, and hydroxylation, and so on.Conclusion: In this study, a UPLC-Q-TOF/MS technique was developed to analyze prototype compounds and their metabolites from XFZYD in serum, which would provide the evidence for further studying the effective compounds of XFZYD. | Xiaoyu Zhang Zhenzuo Jiang Lei Zhang Cheng Xue Xiafei Feng Xin Chai Yuefei Wang | 2023 | Chinese Herbal Medicines2023,15,1: | 0 |
