1Th22 cells are associated with hepatocellular carcinoma development and progression显示文摘Objective: IL-22-producing CD4+ T helper cells(Th22 cells) have been identified as major inducers of tissue inflammation and immune responses. Currently, no previous study explored the role of Th22 cells in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). The study aimed to determine the biological function of Th22 cells and its effector IL-22 in HCC patients.Methods: Forty-five HCC patients and 19 healthy controls were recruited and their peripheral blood was collected. The fresh HCC tissues, adjacent HCC tissues and ten normal liver tissues were also collected. Flow cytometry analysis was used to determine the frequencies of circulating Th22 cells and Th17 cells. Serum IL-22 levels were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Immunohistochemical staining and real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR) were used to detect IL-22 protein and mRNA in tissues specimens, respectively.Results: Circulating Th22 cells, Th17 cells and serum IL-22 levels were significantly elevated in HCC patients compared with those of healthy controls(P<0.001). Th22 cells were showed to be positively correlated with IL-22 in HCC patients(P<0.05), but not in healthy controls. No significant differences were found in HCC patients with HBeAg positivity or negativity in term of Th22 cells and serum IL-22 levels. The expression of IL-22 protein and mRNA was highest in HCC tissues, followed by adjacent HCC tissues and normal liver tissues. 2Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas.Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu 2019National Science Review2019,6,3:24
3Occurrence and Fate of Antibiotics in the Aqueous Environment and Their Removal by Constructed Wetlands in China: A review显示文摘Overuse of antibiotics has become a serious ecological problem worldwide.There is growing concern that antibiotics are losing their effectiveness due to an increased antibiotic resistance in bacteria.During the last twenty years,consumption of antibiotics has increased rapidly in China,which has been cited as one of the world's worst abusers of antibiotics.This review summarizes the current state of antibiotic contamination in China's three major rivers(the Yangtze River,Yellow River,and Pearl River) and illustrates the occurrence and fate of antibiotics in conventional municipal wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs).The analytical data indicate that traditional WWTPs cannot completely remove these concerned pharmaceuticals,as seen in the large difference between the distribution coefficient(K_d) and the uneven removal efficiency of various types of antibiotics.Although constructed wetlands(CWs)offer a potential way to remove these antibiotics from water supplies,knowledge of their mechanisms is limited.There are four main factors affecting the performance of CWs used for the treatment of antibiotics in water supplies,the types and configurations of CWs,hydraulic load rates,substrates,and plants and microorganisms.Further researches focusing on these factors are needed to improve the removal efficiency of antibiotics in CWs.GUAN Yidong WANG Bo GAO Yongxia LIU Wen ZHAO Xiaoli HUANG Xiaofeng YU Jianghuai 2017Pedosphere2017,27,1:22
4A Survey of Testing for 5G:Solutions,Opportunities,and Challenges显示文摘With the development of wireless communication technology,the fifth generation mobile communications system(5 G) emerges at a historic moment and devotes itself to open the curtain of the information age.Recently,in order to satisfy the requirement of different applications,various advanced 5 G technologies have been developed in full swing.However,before applying these 5 G related technologies in practical systems,effective testing methods are needed to evaluate these technologies in a real,comprehensive,rapid and flexible manner.However,the testing methods are faced with new challenges along with the continuous development of the new 5 G technologies.In this paper,we present a survey of 5 G testing,including solutions and opportunities.In particular,two cases are considered,i.e.,channel modelling and overthe-air(OTA) testing of antenna systems.Specifically,a non-stationary channel model is proposed to characterize and test massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) channel.In addition,we propose two probe subset selection algorithms for three-dimensional(3 D) OTA testing,which minimizes the number of probe antennas while ensuring the accuracy of the target channel emulation.Finally,future research directions and challenges on 5 G testing are given.Ping Zhang Xiaoli Yang Jianqiao Chen Yuzhen Huang 2019China Communications2019,16,1:21

6Identification of rice cultivars with low brown rice mixed cadmium and lead contents and their interactions with the micronutrients iron,zinc,nickel and manganese显示文摘Paddy fields in mining areas are usually co-contaminated by a cocktail of mixed toxic heavy metals(e.g.,Cd and Pb in Pb/Zn mines).However,previous studies on rice cultivars screened for effective metal exclusion have mostly focused on individual metals,and have been conducted under pot-trial or hydroponic solution conditions.This study identified rice cultivars with both low Cd and Pb accumulation under Cd-and Pb-contaminated field conditions,and the interactions of the toxic elements Cd and Pb with the micronutrient elements Fe,Zn,Mn and Ni were also studied.Among 32 rice cultivars tested,there were significant differences in Cd(0.06-0.59 mg/kg) and Pb(0.25-3.15 mg/kg) levels in their brown rice,and similar results were also found for the micronutrient elements.Significant decreases in concentrations of Fe and Mn were detected with increasing Cd concentrations and a significant elevation in Fe,Mn and Ni with increasing Pb concentrations.A similar result was also shown by Cd and Ni.Three cultivars were identified with a combination of low brown rice Cd and Pb,high micronutrient and grain yield(Wufengyou 2168,Tianyou 196 and Guinongzhan).Present results suggest that it is possible to breed rice cultivars with low mixed toxic element(Cd,Pb) and high micronutrient contents along with high grain yields,thus ensuring food safety and quality.Bing Li Xun Wang Xiaoli Qi Lu Huang Zhihong Ye 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10:18
7Effects of ferrous and manganese ions on anammox process in sequencing batch biofilm reactors显示文摘Ferrous and manganese ions, as essential elements, significantly affect the synthesis of Haem-C, which participates in the energy metabolism and proliferation of anammox bacteria. In this study, two identical sequencing batch biofilm reactors were used to investigate the effects of ferrous and manganese ions on nitrogen removal efficiency and the potential of metal ions serving as electron donor/acceptors in the anammox process. Fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis was applied to investigate the microbial growth. Results showed that the nitrogen removal increased at high concentrations of Fe2+and Mn2+and the maximum removal efficiency was nearly 95% at Fe2+ 0.08 mmol/L and Mn2+0.05 mmol/L, which is nearly 15% and 8% higher than at the lowest Fe2+ and Mn2+concentrations(0.04 and 0.0125 mmol/L). The stabilities of the anammox reactor and the anammox bacterial growth were also enhanced with the elevated Fe2+and Mn2+concentrations. The Fe2+and Mn2+were consumed by anammox bacteria along with the removal of ammonia and nitrite. Stoichiometry analysis showed Fe2+could serve as an electron donor for NO-3-N in the anammox process. 8Lichong decoction reduces Matrix Metalloproteinases-2 expression but increases Tissue Inhibitors of Matrix Metalloproteinases-2 ex-pression in a rat model of uterine leiomyoma显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of Lichong decoction(LD) on expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and metalloproteinase-2(TIMP-2) in a rat model of uterine leiomyoma(UL).METHODS:UL was induced in rats using exogenous estrogen and progesterone.LD was administered(p.o.) for 4 weeks,and mifepristone(RU-486)used as a control.To observe the effect of LD on the uterine coefficient and uterine transverse diameter,a radioimmunoassay method was used to detect serum levels of sex hormones.Light microscopic analyses of pathologic changes in the tissues of UL rats were evaluated.Expression of the proteins of matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases(TIMPs) in uterine tissues was assessed by immunohistochemical staining and western blotting.RESULTS:A UL model in rats was established successfully.LD reduced uterine weight,uterine coefficient,and uterine transverse diameter compared with untreated controls.LD reduced levels of estradiol,progesterone,follicle-stimulating hormone,and luteinizing hormone in our UL models.LD improved the pathologic condition of uterine muscle.Expression of MMP-2 protein decreased to varying extents in LD-treated groups,but TIMP-2 levels were enhanced.LD appears to reduce MMP-2 expression and increase TIMP-2 expression in UL tissue.CONCLUSION:These data suggest that the mechanism of action of LD on ULs may involve reduction of MMP-2 expression and increase in TIMP-2 expression in rats.Wang Yasong Li Donghua Xu Xin Qian Ruiya Zhang Yalan Huang Yuhua Geng Jianguo Zou Xiaoli Han Hon-gjuan Zhang Wufang 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,4:12
9Comparison of the Diagnostic Ability of Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness Measured using Time Domain and Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma显示文摘Purpose:To evaluate and compare the diagnostic ability of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measurements using time domain (Stratus) and spectral domain (Cirrus HD) optical coherence tomography(OCT).in preperimetric and early primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods:A total of 62 eyes from 62 normal subjects,47 eyes from 47 early perimetric damage POAG patients and 30 eyes from 30 preperimetric glaucoma patients were chosen in the study.All the subjects underwent peripapillary RNFL thickness measurements using Stratus OCT and Cirrus HD-OCT on the same day by a single trained operator.The RNFL thickness measured by Stratus OCT and Cirrus HD-OCT was statistically compared using paired t-tests.The relationship between RNFL thickness measured by two OCT instruments was evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient.Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AROC) were calculated and compared. Results:RNFL thickness measured using Stratus OCT was generally thicker than that using Cirrus HD-OCT(P<0.05). A highly significant correlation between the two OCT instruments measurements was found in four quadrants and average RNFL thickness measurements (P<0.001). The average RNFL thickness of Cirrus HD-OCT had significantly(P=0.006) higher diagnostic ability (AROC=0.951) than that of Stratus OCT(AROC=0.881) in preperimetric glaucoma. There were no significant differences between the AROCs for other RNFL thickness parameters from Cirrus HD-OCT and Stratus OCT in preperimetric and early glaucoma(P>0.05). Conclusion: Significant differences and an excellent correlation were noted in terms of RNFL thickness measurements using Stratus OCT and Cirrus HD-OCT. 10The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. FISH signals were located on the short arm of subtelocentric chromosome 10. After silver-staining, nucleolus organizer regions (NORs) could be observed on the telomere of the short arm of chromosome 10. 13Erucic acid from Isatis indigotica Fort. suppresses influenza A virus replication and inflammation in vitro and in vivo through modulation of NF-kB and p38 MAPK pathway显示文摘Isatis indigotica Fort.(Ban-Lan-Gen)is an herbal medicine prescribed for influenza treatment.However,its active components and mode of action remain mostly unknown.In the present study,erucic acid was isolated from Isatis indigotica Fort.,and subsequently its underlying mechanism against influenza A virus(IAV)infection was investigated in vitro and in vivo.Our results demonstrated that erucic acid exhibited broad-spectrum antiviral activity against IAV resulting from reduction of viral polymerase transcription activity.Erucic acid was found to exert inhibitory effects on IAV or viral(v)RNA-induced pro-inflam-matory mediators as well as interferons(IFNs).The molecular mechanism by which erucic acid with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties was attributed to inactivation of NF-kB and p38 MAPK signaling.Furthermore,the NF-kB and p38 MAPK inhibitory effect of erucic acid led to diminishing the transcriptional activity of interferon-stimulated gene factor 3(ISGF-3),and thereby reducing IAV-triggered pro-inflammatory response amplification in IFN-β-sensitized cells.Additionally,IAV-or vRNA-triggered apoptosis of alveolar epithelial A549 cells was prevented by erucic acid.In vivo,erucic acid administration consistently displayed decreased lung viral load and viral antigens expression.Meanwhile,erucic acid markedly reduced CD8+cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL)recruitment,pro-apoptotic signaling,hyperactivity of multiple signaling pathways,and exacerbated immune inflammation in the lung,which resulted in decreased lung injury and mortality in mice with a mouse-adapted A/FM/1/47-MA(H1N1)strain infection.Our findings provided a mechanistic basis for the action of erucic acid against IAV-mediated inflammation and injury,suggesting that erucic acid may have a therapeutic potential in the treatment of influenza.Xiaoli Liang Yuan Huang Xiping Pan Yanbing Hao Xiaowei Chen Haiming Jiang Jing Li Beixian Zhou Zifeng Yang 2020Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,2:10
14TNF-α suppresses sweat gland differentiation of MSCs by reducing FTO-mediated m^6 A-demethylation of Nanog mRNA显示文摘An effect of inhibition of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)on differentiation of mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)has been demonstrated,but the exact mechanisms that govern MSCs differentiation remain to be further elucidated.Here,we show that TNF-αinhibits the differentiation of MSCs to sweat glands in a specific sweat gland-inducing environment,accompanied with reduced expression of Nanog,a core pluripotency factor.We elucidated that fat mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)-mediated m^6 A demethylation is involved in the regulation of MSCs differentiation potential.Exposure of MSCs to TNF-αreduced expression of FTO,which demethylated Nanog m RNA.Reduced expression of FTO increased Nanog m RNA methylation,decreased Nanog m RNA and protein expression,and significantly inhibited MSCs capacity for differentiation to sweat gland cells.Our finding is the first to elucidate the functional importance of m^6 A modification in MSCs,providing new insights that the microenvironment can regulate the multipotency of MSCs at the post-transcriptional level.Moreover,to maintain differentiation capacity of MSCs by regulating m^6 A modification suggested a novel potential therapeutic target for stem cellmediated regenerative medicine.Yihui Wang Rui Wang Bin Yao Tian Hu Zhao Li Yufan Liu Xiaoli Cui Liuhanghang Cheng Wei Song Sha Huang Xiaobing Fu 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,1:9
15Designing of highly selective and high-temperature endurable RWGS heterogeneous catalysts: recent advances and the future directions显示文摘Reverse water gas shift(RWGS) reaction can be served as a pivotal stage of transitioning the abundant CO_2 resource into chemicals or hydrocarbon fuels, which is attractive for the CO_2 utilization and of eventually significance in enabling a rebuilt ecological system for unconventional fuels. This concept is appealing when the process is considered as a solution for the storage of renewable energy, which may also find a variety of potential end uses for the outer space exploration. However, a big challenge to this issue is the rational design of high temperature endurable RWGS catalysts with desirable CO product selectivity. In this work, we present a comprehensive overview of recent publications on this research topic,mainly focusing on the catalytic performance of RWGS reaction over three major kinds of heterogeneous catalysts, including supported metal catalysts, mixed oxide catalysts and transition metal carbides. The reaction thermodynamic analysis, kinetics and mechanisms are also described in detail. 16New features of the Moon revealed and identified by CLTM-s01显示文摘Previous analyses showed a clear asymmetry in the topography,geological material distribution,and crustal thickness between the nearside and farside of the Moon. Lunar detecting data,such as topography and gravity,have made it possible to interpret this hemisphere dichotomy. The high-resolution lunar topographic model CLTM-s01 has revealed that there still exist four unknown features,namely,quasi-impact basin Sternfeld-Lewis (20°S,232°E),confirmed impact basin Fitzgerald-Jackson (25°N,191°E),crater Wugang (13°N,189°E) and volcanic deposited highland Yutu (14°N,308°E). 18Highly Efficient and Stable Hydrogen Production in All pH Range by Two-Dimensional Structured Metal-Doped Tungsten Semicarbides显示文摘Transition-metal-doped tungsten semicarbide nanosheets(M-doped W_(2)C NSs,M=Fe,Co,and Ni)have been synthesized through carburization of the mixture of tungsten trioxide,polyvinylpyrrolidone,and metal dopant.Te nanosheets grow directly on the W mesh and have the lateral dimension of several hundreds of nm to a few�m with a thickness of few tens nm.It is demonstrated that the M-doped W_(2)C NSs exhibit superior electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Impressively,the Nidoped W_(2)C NSs(2 at%Ni)with the optimized HER activity show extremely low onset overpotentials of 4,9,and 19 mV and modest Tafel slopes of 39,51,and 87 mV dec−1 in acidic(pH=0),neutral(pH=7.2),and basic(pH=14)solutions,respectively,which is close to the commercial Pt/C catalyst.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations also demonstrate that the Gibbs free energy for H adsorption of Ni-W_(2)C is much closer to the optimal valueG_(H∗)=-0.073 eV as compared to-0.16 eV of W_(2)C.Furthermore,nearly 100%Faradaic efciency and long-term stability are obtained in those environments.Tis realization of highly tolerant metal semicarbide catalyst performing on par with commercial Pt/C in all range of pH ofers a key step towards industrially electrochemical water splitting.Edison H.Ang Khang N.Dinh Xiaoli Sun Ying Huang Jun Yang Zhili Dong Xiaochen Dong Wei Huang Zhiguo Wang Hua Zhang Qingyu Yan 2019Research2019,,1:7
19Health risk assessment of dietary exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Taiyuan, China显示文摘Sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) were determined in 24 duplicate-diet samples from people in Taiyuan during summer and winter in 2009. Dietary intake of PAHs for 2862 participants was subsequently estimated by a survey in Taiyuan. Results from these 24 samples were compared with a raw food study in Taiyuan in 2008. Three main sources of dietary PAHs are vegetables, wheat flour and fruits, the sum of which contributes 75.95% of PAHs in dietary food. Compared to the estimated value in raw food, much more B[a]Peq(benzo[a]pyrene equivalents) were detected in food samples collected in the duplicate-diet study in Taiyuan(60.75 ng/day). 20A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%.
