2Potential role of strike-slip faults in opening up the South China Sea显示文摘Radiometric dates of key rock units indicate that a remnant Late Mesozoic ocean of the Huatung Basin is still preserved today east of the South China Sea(SCS).We integrate regional geology with a Cretaceous oceanic basement in the vicinity of the Huatung Basin to reconstruct the Huatung Plate east of the Eurasian continent.Results of geophysical investigations,four expeditions of deep-sea drilling and a renaissance of regional geology allow us to propose a hypothesis that the mechanism responsible for the SCS opening was raised from strike-slip fault on the east.The hypothesis suggests that the SCS opening could highly relate to the strike-slip faults inherited from Late Mesozoic structures onshore–offshore the SE Cathaysia Block to develop rhombic-shaped extensional basins en echelon on the thinned Eurasian continental crust in the Early Cenozoic.It was followed by sinistral strike-slip movements along the boundary between the Eurasian Plate and the Huatung Plate driven by oblique subduction of the Huatung Plate to the northwest coupled with slab-pull force by southward subduction of the Proto-SCS to open up the triangle-shaped oceanic East Sub-basin in the Early Oligocene(33/34 Ma).The spreading ridge then propagated southwestward in the step-over segment between the Zhongnan-Lile and the Red River strike-slip fault systems to open the triangle-shaped oceanic Southwest Sub-basin by 23 Ma.The plate boundary fault was subsequently converted into the Manila Trench when the Eocene Sierra Madre arc of the Huatung Plate had moved from the south to its present latitude by the Middle Miocene.Chi-Yue Huang Pinxian Wang Mengming Yu Chen-Feng You Char-Shine Liu Xixi Zhao Lei Shao Guangfa Zhong Graciano P.Yumul Jr 2019National Science Review2019,6,5:16

4SCM-198 protects endometrial stromal cells from oxidative damage through Bax/Bcl-2 and ERK signaling pathways显示文摘In creasi ng amounts of evidence dem on strated that accumulative reactive oxyge n species (ROS) and apoptosis of human endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) are closely associated with endometrial dysfunction induced by oxidative stress, which plays an important role in the pathological process of multiple gyn ecological and reproduction-related diseases. SCM-198, an alkaloid active component of Leonurus japonicas Houtt, has been reported to have anti-oxidative activity. However, the specific mechanisms of SCM-198 in the prevention of endometrial damage remain unknown. In the present study, we assessed the effect of SCM-198 on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2Hnduced oxidative injury in ESCs. ESCs were pretreated with SCM-198 for 4 h and then challenged with H2O2.Morphology ch a nges, apoptosis rate, and intracellular ROS producti on were measured to assess the level of oxidative injury. Flow cytometry and western blot analysis were performed to detect the expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2, active-caspase-3, and mitogen-activated protein kinases pathways. Classic inflammation cytokines were measured by real-time polymerase chain reactions. Our results showed that SCM-198 attenuated apoptosis and ROS generation of ESCs induced by H2O2. H2O2 induced the apparent apoptotic characteristics, including fragmentation of DNA, upregulation of Bax/Bcl2, activation of caspase-3, and secretion of inflammation cytokines, which were all ameliorated by SCM-198. Furthermore, H2O2-induced apoptosis-related ERK1/2 pathway activation was restrained by SCM-198 pretreatme nt. 5New-type urbanization in China: Predicted trends and investment demand for 2015-2030显示文摘The future development of new-type urbanization has drawn great attention from both the government and public alike. In this context, the present study had three related research aims. Firstly, it sought to predict the urbanization and population dynamics in China at both national and provincial levels for the period of 2015 to 2030. Secondly, on this basis, it sought to examine the spatial variation of urbanization given the predicted national urbanization rate of 70.12%. Thirdly, it sought to estimate and evaluate the national and provincial demands of investment in the development of new-type urbanization. The main conclusions from this study were as follows:(1) The population size and urbanization rate will reach 1.445 billion and 70.12%, respectively, from 2015 to 2030.(2) The demographic dividend will vanish when the population pressure reaches its maximum. During this period, there will be 70.16 million urban population born. The suburban population that becomes urbanized will be 316.7 million, and thus the net increase in urban population will reach 386 million.(3) Although the urbanization rate of every Chinese province will increase during 2015–2030, it will do so unequally, while differences in urbanization quality among provinces will also be substantial. In some provinces, moreover, the urbanization quality is not compatible with their eco-social development.(4) A total of 4,105,380 billion yuan is required to fund new-type urbanization and the investment demand for each province varies greatly; for example, Guangdong province requires the most funding, amounting to approximately 148 times that required by Tibet, the province in least need of funding. 8Activation of Rev-erbα attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory reactions in human endometrial stroma cells via suppressing TLR4-regulated NF-κB activation显示文摘Perturbation of the circadian rhythm damages the biological characteristics of cells and leads to their dysfunction. Rev-erbα, an important gene in the transcription-translation loop of circadian rhythm, is involved in regulating the balance between pro-inflammation and anti-inflammation. The disruption of this balance in human endometrial stroma cells (hESCs) destroys their biological behavior function in maintaining the menstrual cycle and embryonic implantation. Whether pharmacological modulation of Rev-erbα affects the inflammation of hESCs remains unclear. In this study, we treated hESCs with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and found that LPS treatment increased the mRNA levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-18, and TNFα, and the secretion of IL-6. SR9009, a Rev-erbα agonist, significantly alleviated the LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in hESCs. Meanwhile, knockdown of Rev-erbα increased the expressions of IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, accompanied by an increased mRNA level of the core clock gene Bmal1. Western blot analysis showed that SR9009 inhibited the expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and the activation of NF-κB induced by LPS. All these findings suggested that pharmacological activation of Rev-erbα attenuated the LPS-induced inflammatory response of hESCs by suppressing TLR4-regulated NF-κB activation. 9Inhibiting collagen Ⅰ production and tumor cell colonization in the lung via miR-29a-3p loading of exosome-/liposome-based nanovesicles显示文摘The lung is one of the most common sites for cancer metastasis.Collagens in the lung provide a permissive microenvironment that supports the colonization and outgrowth of disseminated tumor cells.Therefore,down-regulating the production of collagens may contribute to the inhibition of lung metastasis.It has been suggested that mi R-29 exhibits effective anti-fibrotic activity by negatively regulating the expression of collagens.Indeed,our clinical lung tumor data shows that mi R-29 a-3 p expression negatively correlates with collagen I expression in lung tumors and positively correlates with patients’outcomes.However,suitable carriers need to be selected to deliver this therapeutic mi RNA to the lungs.In this study,we found that the chemotherapy drug cisplatin facilitated mi R-29 a-3 p accumulation in the exosomes of lung tumor cells,and this type of exosomes exhibited a specific lung-targeting effect and promising collagen down-regulation.To scale up the preparation and simplify the delivery system,we designed a lung-targeting liposomal nanovesicle(by adjusting the molar ratio of DOTAP/cholesterol-mi RNAs to 4:1)to carry mi R-29 a-3 p and mimic the exosomes.This liposomal nanovesicle delivery system significantly down-regulated collagen I secretion by lung fibroblasts in vivo,thus alleviating the establishment of a pro-metastatic environment for circulating lung tumor cells.Yan Yan Cancan Du Xixi Duan Xiaohan Yao Jiajia Wan Ziming Jiang Zhongyu Qin Wenqing Li Longze Pan Zhuoyu Gu Fazhan Wang Ming Wang Zhihai Qin 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:7

11High-quality Arabidopsis thaliana Genome Assembly with Nanopore and HiFi Long Reads显示文摘Arabidopsis thaliana is an important and long-established model species for plant molecular biology,genetics,epigenetics,and genomics.However,the latest version of reference genome still contains a significant number of missing segments.Here,we reported a high-quality and almost complete Col-0 genome assembly with two gaps(named Col-XJTU)by combining the Oxford Nanopore Technologies ultra-long reads,Pacific Biosciences high-fidelity long reads,and Hi-C data.The total genome assembly size is 133,725,193 bp,introducing 14.6 Mb of novel sequences compared to the TAIR10.1 reference genome.All five chromosomes of the Col-XJTU assembly are highly accurate with consensus quality(QV)scores>60(ranging from 62 to 68),which are higher than those of the TAIR10.1 reference(ranging from 45 to 52).We completely resolved chromosome(Chr)3 and Chr5 in a telomere-to-telomere manner.Chr4 was completely resolved except the nucleolar organizing regions,which comprise long repetitive DNA fragments.The Chrl centromere(CEN1),reportedly around 9 Mb in length,is particularly challenging to assemble due to the presence of tens of thousands of CEN180 satellite repeats.Using the cutting-edge sequencing data and novel computational approaches,we assembled a 3.8-Mb-long CEN1 and a 3.5-Mb-long CEN2.We also investigated the structure and epigenetics of centromeres.Four clusters of CEN180 monomers were detected,and the centromere-specific histone H3-like protein(CENH3)exhibited a strong preference for CEN180 Cluster 3.Moreover,we observed hypomethylation patterns in CENH3-enriched regions.We believe that this high-quality genome assembly,Col-XJTU,would serve as a valuable reference to better understand the global pattern of centromeric polymorphisms,as well as the genetic and epigenetic features in plants.Bo Wang Xiaofei Yang Yanyan Jia Yu Xu Peng Jia Ningxin Dang Songbo Wang Tun Xu Xixi Zhao Shenghan Gao Quanbin Dong Kai Ye 2022Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,1:6

13The OsNAC23-Tre6P-SnRK1 a feed-forward loop regulates sugar homeostasis and grain yield in rice显示文摘Tre6P(trehalose-6-phosphate)mediates sensing of carbon availability to maintain sugar homeostasis in plants,which underpins crop yield and resilience.However,how Tre6P responds to fluctuations in sugar levels and regulates the utilization of sugars for growth remains to be addressed.Here,we report that the sugar-inducible rice NAC transcription factor OsNAC23 directly represses the transcription of the Tre6P phosphatase gene TPP1 to simultaneously elevate Tre6P and repress trehalose levels,thus facilitating carbon partitioning from source to sink organs.Meanwhile,OsNAC23 and Tre6P suppress the transcription and enzyme activity of SnRK1a,a low-carbon sensor and antagonist of OsNAC23,to prevent the SnRK1a-mediated phosphorylation and degradation of OsNAC23.Thus,OsNAC23,Tre6P,and SnRK1a form a feed-forward loop to sense sugar and maintain sugar homeostasis by transporting sugars to sink organs.Importantly,plants over-expressing OsNAC23 exhibited an elevated photosynthetic rate,sugar transport,and sink organ size,which consistently increased rice yields by 13%–17%in three elite-variety backgrounds and two locations,suggesting that manipulation of OsNAC23 expression has great potential for rice improvement.Collectively,these findings enhance our understanding of Tre6P-mediated sugar signaling and homeostasis,and provide a new strategy for genetic improvement of rice and possibly also other crops.Zhiyong Li Xiangjin Wei Xiaohong Tong Juan Zhao Xixi Liu Huimei Wang Liqun Tang Yazhou Shu Guanghao Li Yifeng Wang Jiezheng Ying Guiai Jiao Honghong Hu Peisong Hu Jian Zhang 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,4:4

17Single-layer Rh nanosheets with ultrahigh peroxidase-like activity for colorimetric biosensing显示文摘When the dimensionality of layered compounds decreases to the physical limit, ultimate two-dimensional (2D)anisotropy and/or quantum confinement effects may lead to extraordinary physicochemical attributes.Here,we report single-layer Rh nanosheets (NSs)exhibiting ultrahigh peroxidase-like activity,far exceeding that of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)and of most known layered nanomaterialbased peroxidase mimics.Considering per NS as an active subunit,the Rh NSs displayed a catalytic rate constant (Kcat)as high as 4.45×10^5 s^-1to H2O2,two orders of magnitude higher than those of HRP and Rh nanoparticles.The high atom efficiency of the Rh NSs can be attributed to the full exposure of surface-active Rh atoms,which greatly facilitates electron transfer and formation of superoxide anions,representing reactive oxygen species in the catalytic process.As a proof- of-concept application,the Rh NSs were successfully used as peroxidase mimics for the colorimetric detection of H2O2 and xanthine,with high sensitivity and selectivity.Moreover,a simple,rapid,and sensitive Rh-based paper sensor for ascorbic acid was also developed.In summar^this work provides a novel example of single-layer metallic NSs for biosensing.Shuangfei Cai Wei Xiao Haohong Duan Xixi Liang Chen Wang Rong Yang Yadong Li 2018Nano Research2018,11,12:3
18Ameliorating the interfacial issues of all-solid-state lithium metal batteries by constructing polymer/inorganic composite electrolyte显示文摘Lithium metal is one of the most promising anodes for next-generation batteries due to its high capacity and low reduction potential.However,the notorious Li dendrites can cause the short life span and safety issues,hindering the extensive application of lithium batteries.Herein,Li_(7)La_(3)Zr_(2)O_(12)(LLZO)ceramics are integrated into polyethylene oxide(PEO)to construct a facile polymer/inorganic composite solid-state electrolyte(CSSE)to inhibit the growth of Li dendrites and widen the electrochemical stability window.Given the feasibility of our strategy,the designed PEO-LLZO-LiTFSI composite solid-state electrolyte(PLLCSSE)exhibits an outstanding cycling property of 134.2 mAh g^(-1) after 500 cycles and the Coulombic efficiency of 99.1%after 1000 cycles at 1 C in LiFePO_(4)-Li cell.When cooperated with LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)(NCM622)cathode,the PLL-CSSE renders a capacity retention of 82.4%after 200 cycles at 0.2 C.More importantly,the uniform dispersion of LLZO in PEO matrix is tentative tested via Raman and FT-IR spectra and should be responsible for the improved electrochemical performance.The same conclusion can be drawn from the interface investigation after cycling.This work presents an intriguing solid-state electrolyte with high electrochemical performance,which will boost the development of all-solid-state lithium batteries with high energy density.Su Wang Qifang Sun Wenxiu Peng Yue Ma Ying Zhou Dawei Song Hongzhou Zhang Xixi Shi Chunliang Li Lianqi Zhang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,7:2
19A new die-cast magnesium alloy for applications at higher elevated temperatures of 200-300℃显示文摘The development of lightweight magnesium(Mg)alloys capable of operating at elevated temperatures of 200-300℃and the ability of using high pressure die casting for high-volume manufacturing are the most advanced developments in manufacturing critical parts for internal combustion engines used in power tools.Here we report the microstructure and mechanical properties of a newly developed die-cast Mg-RE(La,Ce,Nd,Gd)-Al alloy capable of working at higher elevated temperatures of 200-300℃.The new alloy delivers the yield strength of 94 MPa at 300℃,which demonstrates a 42%increase over the benchmark AE44 high temperature die-cast Mg alloy.The new alloy also has good stiffness at elevated temperatures with its modulus only decreasing linearly by 13%from room temperature up to 300℃.Thermal analysis shows a minor peak at 364.7℃in the specific heat curve of the new alloy,indicating a good phase stability of the alloy up to 300℃.Nd and Gd have more affinity to Al for the formation of the minority of divorced Al-RE(Nd,Gd)based compounds,and the stable Al-poor Mg_(12)RE(La_(0.22)Ce_(0.13)Nd_(0.31)Gd_(0.31))Zn_(0.39)Al_(0.13)compound acts as the continuous inter-dendritic network,which contribute to the high mechanical performance and stability of the new die-cast Mg alloy at 200-300℃.Xixi Dong Lingyun Feng Shihao Wang Eric A.Nyberg Shouxun Ji 2021Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,1:2
