3Apoptosis during β-mercaptoethanol-induced differentiation of adult adipose-derived stromal cells into neurons显示文摘β-mercaptoethanol can induce adipose-derived stromal cells to rapidly and efficiently differentiate into neurons in vitro.However,because of the short survival time of the differentiated cells,clinical applications for this technique are limited.As such,we examined apoptosis of neurons differentiated from adipose-derived stromal cells induced with β-mercaptoethanol in vitro using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling and transmission electron microscopy.The results revealed that the number of surviving cells decreased and apoptosis rate increased as induction time extended.Taken together,these results suggest that apoptosis occurring in the process of adipose-derived stromal cells differentiating into neurons is the main cause of cell death.However,the mechanism underlying cellular apoptosis should be researched further to develop methods of controlling apoptosis for clinical applications.Yanan Cai Xiaodong Yuan Ya Ou Yanhui Lu 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,10:19

5A novel ethanol-based method to induce differentiation of adipose-derived stromal cells into astrocytes显示文摘The quantity and survival time of astrocytes,which were differentiated from adult adipose-derived stromal cells after exposure to an inducer containing 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine,have thus far been unsatisfactory.The present study investigated the growth and differentiation characteristics of induced astrocytes by observing their growth curves.After induction for 48 hours with an inducer containing 0.5% ethanol,some adult adult adipose-derived stromal cells displayed typical astrocytic morphology.The cell quantity gradually decreased with prolonged induction time.Nestin,glial fibrillary acidic protein,and S-100 expression reached peak levels at 14 days,but neuron-specific enolase was not expressed.These results suggest that the induced astrocytes reached their peak at 14 days.Further optimization of the culture environment may yield mature astrocytes with normal functions,in greater quantity,and prolonged survival time.Ya Ou Xiaodong Yuan Yanan Cai Yanhui Lu 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,10:12
6Adult adipose-derived stromal cells differentiate into neurons with normal electrophysiological functions显示文摘β-mercaptoethanol was used to induce in vitro neuronal differentiation of adipose-derived stromal cells. Within an 8-hour period post-differentiation, the induced cells exhibited typical neuronal morphology, and expression of microtubule-associated protein 2 and neuron-specific enolase, which are markers of mature neurons, reached a peak at 5 hours. Specific organelle Nissl bodies of neurons were observed under transmission electron microscopy. Results of membrane potential showed that fluorescence intensity of cells was greater after 5 hours than adipose-derived stromal cells prior to induction. In addition, following stimulation with high-concentration potassium solution, fluorescence intensity increased. These experimental findings suggested that neurons differentiated from adipose-derived stromal cells and expressed mature K+ channels. 7Deep ultraviolet light-emitting diodes based on a well-ordered AlGaN nanorod array显示文摘The nanorod structure is an alternative scheme to develop high-efficiency deep ultraviolet light-emitting diodes(DUV LEDs). In this paper, we first report the electrically injected 274-nm AlGaN nanorod array DUV LEDs fabricated by the nanosphere lithography and dry-etching technique. Nanorod DUV LED devices with good electrical properties are successfully realized. Compared to planar DUV LEDs, nanorod DUV LEDs present>2.5 times improvement in light output power and external quantum efficiency. The internal quantum efficiency of nanorod LEDs increases by 1.2 times due to the transformation of carriers from the exciton to the free electron–hole, possibly driven by the interface state effect of the nanorod sidewall surface. In addition, the nanorod array significantly facilitates photons escaping from the interior of LEDs along the vertical direction, contributing to improved light extraction efficiency. A three-dimensional finite-different time-domain simulation is performed to analyze further in detail the TE-and TM-polarized photon extraction mechanisms of the nanostructure. 8Thermal Shock-Activated Spontaneous Growing of Nanosheets for Overall Water Splitting显示文摘Nanomaterials based on nickel foam(NF) have been widely applied in energy conversion and storage field.Traditional synthesis methods such as hydrothermal method which is dangerous and high cost limited the scalable developments.Herein,we report a fast,simple,and low-cost synthesis method of nanomaterials based on NF by Joule-heating and water soaking treatment.Thin carbon-coated CoS on NF(NF-C/CoS) was synthesized by Joule-heating for a few seconds with rapid cooling.And then,NF-C/CoS/NiOOH with core-shell heterostructure was fabricated by soaking treatment of NF-C/CoS in water on which NiOOH nanosheets grew spontaneously.The formation mechanism is proposed that the coordination complex precursor converts into C/CoS on NF driven by Joule-heating,and the nickel on the surface of NF is activated to form metastable nickel simultaneously.The metastable nickel reacting with water leads to the formation of NiOOH,and the induction of CoS makes NiOOH grow continuously.This synthesis technology provides a new route to manufacture NF-based nanostructures,and the as-fabricated NF-C/CoS/NiOOH exhibits great potential as electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction and hydrogen evolution reaction.Han Wu Qi Lu Jinfeng Zhang Jiajun Wang Xiaopeng Han Naiqin Zhao Wenbin Hu Jiajun Li Yanan Chen Yida Deng 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,11:6

11Complications and risk factors for complications of implanted subcutaneous ports for intraperitoneal chemotherapy in gastric cancer with peritoneal metastasis显示文摘Objective:Intraperitoneal(IP)chemotherapy through subcutaneous port is an effective treatment for gastric cancer(GC)patients with peritoneal metastasis(PM).The objective of this study is to assess the port complications and risk factors for complications in GC patients with PM.Methods:In retrospective screening of 301 patients with subcutaneous ports implantation,249 GC patients with PM who received IP chemotherapy were screened out for analysis.Port complications and risk factors for complications were analyzed.Results:Of the 249 analyzed patients,57(22.9%)experienced port complications.Subcutaneous liquid accumulation(42.1%)and infection(28.1%)were the main complications,and other complications included port rotation(14.1%),wound dehiscence(12.3%),inflow obstruction(1.7%)and subcutaneous metastasis(1.7%).The median interval between port implantation and occurrence of complications was 3.0 months.Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)performance status[odds ratio(OR),1.74;95%confidence interval(95%CI),1.12-2.69],albumin(OR,3.67;95%CI,1.96-6.86),implantation procedure optimization(OR,0.33;95%CI,0.18-0.61)and implantation groups(OR,0.37;95%CI,0.20-0.69)were independent risk factors for port complications(P<0.05).ECOG performance status was the only factor that related to the grades of port complications(P=0.016).Conclusions:Port complications in GC patients who received IP chemotherapy are manageable.ECOG performance status,albumin,implantation procedure and implantation group are independent risk factors for port complications in GC patients with PM.Zhongyin Yang Chen Li Wentao Liu Yanan Zheng Zhenglun Zhu Ziehen Hua Zhentian Ni Sheng Lu Min Yan Chao Yan Zhenggang Zhu 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,4:5
12Effects of Cs-substitution and partial reduction on catalytic performance of Keggin-type phosphomolybdic polyoxometalates for selective oxidation of isobutane显示文摘The catalytic performance of Cs-substituted phosphomolybdic salts was studied for selective oxidation of isobutane. The results of activity tests revealed that 360 °C was the optimal reaction temperature. It was demonstrated that oxidizing sites not only took dominating part in the activation of isobutane, but also influenced the product distribution. Besides, appropriate Cs addition led to moderate acidity of catalysts, favoring the selectivity to desired products. Furthermore, to obtain partially reduced catalysts, different calcination atmospheres were investigated and certain proportion of Mo^(5+) produced during calcination was crucial for the redox reaction. The catalyst calcined in N_2 showed the highest yield of MAA(7.0%). 13Concise and efficient direct-view generation of arbitrary cylindrical vector beams by a vortex half-wave plate显示文摘A concise, efficient, and practical direct-view scheme is presented to generate arbitrary cylindrical vector(CV)beams, including CV beams, vortex beams, and cylindrical vector vortex(CVV) beams, by a vortex half-wave plate(VHP). Six kinds of first-order and other high-order CV beams, such as azimuthally polarized(AP) beams, antivortex radial polarization mode beams, and three-order AP beams, are formed by simply rotating a half-wave plate. The Stokes parameters and double-slit interference of multitype CV beams are investigated in detail.The polarization parameters, including degree of polarization, polarization azimuth, and ellipticity, are obtained,which demonstrates the efficient generation of CV beams. In addition, the double-slit interference experiment is introduced in the setup, and fringe misplacement and tilt appear for CVV beams, in which the misplacement number M is 2P+1 for P ≤ 2 and 2P-1 for P ≥ 3, where P is the polarization order number, and the fringe tilt offset is positively related to the topological charge number l of CVV beams. In addition, new types of VHPs can be formed by cascading two or more VHPs when the types of available VHPs are limited, assisting in more flexible generation of multitype CV beams. 15Two soybean homologues of TERMINAL FLOWER 1 control flowering time under long day conditions显示文摘Flowering time is a key agronomic trait that directly affect the adaptation and yield of soybean.After whole genome duplications,about 75%of genes being represented by multiple copies in soybean.There are four TERMINAL FLOWER 1(TFL1)genes in soybean,and the TFL1b(Dt1)has been characterized as the determinant of stem growth habit.The function of other TFL1 homologs in soybean is still unclear.Here,we generated knockout mutants by CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technology and found that the tfl1c/tfl1d double mutants flowered significantly earlier than wild-type plants.We investigated that TFL1c and TFL1d could physically interact with the b ZIP transcription factor FDc1 and bind to the promoter of APETALA1a(AP1a).RNA-seq and q RT-PCR analyses indicated that TFL1c and TFL1d repressed the expressions of the four AP1 homologs and delayed the flowering time in soybean.The two genes play important roles in the regulation of flowering time in soybean and mainly act as the flowering inhibitors under long-day conditions.Our results identify novel components in the flowering-time regulation network of soybean and will be invaluable for molecular breeding of improved soybean yield.Lingshuang Wang Chun Lin Bohui Li Tong Su Shichen Li Haiyang Li Fanglei He Chuanjie Gou Zheng Chen Yanan Wang Jun Qin Baohui Liu Fanjiang Kong Lin Yue Sijia Lu Chao Fang 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,3:3
16Effect of different milling processes on the mineral distribution in a coal powder显示文摘Coal samples obtained from Wanbei(WB),Pingxiang(PX),Liupanshui(LP),and Datong(DT) mines were pulverized,using either a vibration mill or a ball mill,to different degrees of fineness.The effect of the different grinding methods on the mineral distribution within the pulverized coal was investigated by using proximate analysis,particle size analysis,and float-sink tests.The results show that the ash content in WB,PX,and DT coal increases with increasing particle size overall,while the ash content of the LP coal remain almost the same within each size fraction.In that case the ash in each fraction is similar to that of the raw coal.The ash versus size distributions for the same coal sample milled with the same grinding method to different degrees of fineness are similar.The ash versus size distribution of the coal powder with a 15% screen residue that was prepared with the vibration mill is different from the distribution of a similar sample prepared with a ball mill.The curves also vary between different coal samples.The grinding method has a great influence on the distribution of minerals across the various particle sizes.The float-sink tests and the laser particle size analysis results on PX and DT coal samples show that fines dominate the higher density fractions although the large +2.0 g/cm3 fraction was dominated by coarse particles.The size distribution of the low density fraction and +2.0 g/cm3 density fraction is bimodal.The size distribution of the intermediate density fraction is multimodal.Hao Juan Zhang Hong Yang Keyang Lu Chao ChenJiabao Li Yanan 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,2:3
17A-π-D-π-A small-molecule donors with different end alkyl chains obtain different morphologies in organic solar cells显示文摘For bulk-heterojunction organic solar cells, the morphology of the blend films highly influence the exciton dissociation and charge transport process. In this work, two novel A-π-D-π-A(A represents the acceptor unit and D represents the donor unit) backbone structure small molecular electron donors based on two dimensional conjugated naphtho[1,2-b:5,6-b']dithiophene(NDT) with different end alkyl chains, named as NDT-3T-EH and NDT-3T-O, have been designed and synthesized. The photovoltaic property of NDT-3T-O-based device is better than that of the NDT-3T-EH and the best efficiency reaches 7.06%, and the photovoltaic property of NDT-3T-EH reaches 6.11%. The difference in the performance should be attributed to the different morphology and phase separation resulted from the different crystallinity and aggregation ability of two donors. 18Identification of reversible insertion-type lithium storage reaction of manganese oxide with long cycle lifespan显示文摘Recently,MnO2 has gained attention as an electrode material because of its very high theoretical capacity and abundant availability.However,the very high volumetric change caused by its conversion-type reaction results in bad reversibility of charge-discharge.In this study,δ-MnO2 of thickness 8 nm anchored on the surface of carbon nanotubes(CNT)by Mn-O-C chemical bonding is synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method.Numerous ex-situ characterizations of the lithium storage process were performed.Furthermore,density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicated thatδ-MnO2(012)thermodynamically prefers bonding with CNTs.Moreover,the interfacial interaction reinforces the connection of Mn-O and reduces the bond strength of Li-O in lithiated MnO2,which could facilitate an intercalation-type lithium storage reaction.Consequently,the as-synthesizedδ-MnO2 retains an excellent reversible capacity of 577.5 mAh g-1 in 1000 cycles at a high rate of 2 A g-1 between 0.1 V and 3.0 V.The results of this study demonstrate the possibility of employing the cost-effective transition metal oxides as intercalation lithium storage dominant electrodes for advanced rechargeable batteries.Yuxuan Zhang Fang Lian Jianhao Lu Laijun Ma Ning Chen Yanan Chen Dingguo Xia 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,7:3
19High-Throughput Rice Density Estimation from Transplantation to Tillering Stages Using Deep Networks显示文摘Rice density is closely related to yield estimation,growth diagnosis,cultivated area statistics,and management and damage evaluation.Currently,rice density estimation heavily relies on manual sampling and counting,which is inefficient and inaccurate.With the prevalence of digital imagery,computer vision(CV)technology emerges as a promising alternative to automate this task.However,challenges of an in-field environment,such as illumination,scale,and appearance variations,render gaps for deploying CV methods.To fill these gaps towards accurate rice density estimation,we propose a deep learningbased approach called the Scale-Fusion Counting Classification Network(SFC^(2)Net)that integrates several state-of-the-art computer vision ideas.In particular,SFC^(2)Net addresses appearance and illumination changes by employing a multicolumn pretrained network and multilayer feature fusion to enhance feature representation.To ameliorate sample imbalance engendered by scale,SFC^(2)Net follows a recent blockwise classification idea.We validate SFC^(2)Net on a new rice plant counting(RPC)dataset collected from two field sites in China from 2010 to 2013.Experimental results show that SFC^(2)Net achieves highly accurate counting performance on the RPC dataset with a mean absolute error(MAE)of 25.51,a root mean square error(MSE)of 38.06,a relative MAE of 3.82%,and a R^(2) of 0.98,which exhibits a relative improvement of 48.2%w.r.t.MAE over the conventional counting approach CSRNet.Further,SFC^(2)Net provides high-throughput processing capability,with 16.7 frames per second on 1024×1024 images.Our results suggest that manual rice counting can be safely replaced by SFC^(2)Net at early growth stages.Code and models are available online at https://git.io/sfc2net.Liang Liu Hao Lu Yanan Li Zhiguo Cao 2020Plant Phenomics2020,2,1:2
20Immunogenicity and protective efficacy of a recombinant protein subunit vaccine and an inactivated vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 variants in non-human primates显示文摘Emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants and the gradually decreasing neutralizing antibodies over time post vaccination have led to an increase in incidents of breakthrough infection across the world.To investigate the potential protective effect of the recombinant protein subunit COVID-19 vaccine targeting receptor-binding domain(RBD)(PS-RBD)and whole inactivated virus particle vaccine(IV)against the variant strains,in this study,rhesus macaques were immunized with PS-RBD or IV vaccine,followed by a Beta variant(B.1.351)challenge.Although neutralizing activity against the Beta variant was reduced compared with that against the prototype,the decreased viral load in both upper and lower respiratory tracts,milder pathological changes,and downregulated inflammatory cytokine levels in lung tissues after challenge demonstrated that PS-RBD and IV still provided effective protection against the Beta variant in the macaque model.Furthermore,PS-RBD-induced macaque sera possessed general binding and neutralizing activity to Alpha,Beta,Delta,and Omicron variants in our study,though the neutralizing antibody(NAb)titers declined by varying degrees,demonstrating potential protection of PS-RBD against current circulating variants of concern(VOCs).Interestingly,although the IV vaccine-induced extremely low neutralizing antibody titers against the Beta variant,it still showed reduction for viral load and significantly alleviated pathological change.Other correlates of vaccine-induced protection(CoP)like antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity(ADCC)and immune memory were both confirmed to be existing in IV vaccinated group and possibly be involved in the protective mechanism.Qian He Qunying Mao Xiaozhong Peng Zhanlong He Shuaiyao Lu Jialu Zhang Fan Gao Lianlian Bian Chaoqiang An Wenhai Yu Fengmei Yang Yanan Zhou Yun Yang Yanyan Li Yadi Yuan Xujia Yan Jinghuan Yang Xing Wu Weijin Huang Changgui Li Junzhi Wang Zhenglun Liang Miao Xu 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,4:2
