1The impacts of conservation agriculture on crop yield in China depend on specific practices, crops and cropping regions显示文摘For smooth and wide application of conservation agriculture(CA), remaining uncertainties about its impacts on crop yield need to be reduced. Based on previous field experiments in China, a meta-analysis was performed to quantify the actual impacts of CA practices(NT: no/reduced-tillage only, CTSR: conventional tillage with straw retention, NTSR: NT with straw retention) on crop yields as compared to conventional tillage without straw retention(CT).Although CA practices increased crop yield by 4.6% on average, there were large variations in their impacts. For each CA practice, CTSR and NTSR significantly increased crop yield by 4.9%and 6.3%, respectively, compared to CT. However, no significant effect was found for NT. Among ecological areas, significant positive effects of CA practices were found in areas with an annual precipitation below 600 mm. Similar effects were found in areas with annual mean air temperature above 5 °C. For cropping regions, CA increased crop yield by 6.4% and 5.5%compared to CT in Northwest and South China, respectively, whereas no significant effects were found in the North China and Northeast China regions. Among crops, the positive effects of CA practices were significantly higher in maize(7.5%) and rice(4.1%) than in wheat(2.9%). NT likely decreased wheat yield. Our results indicate that there are great differences in the impacts of CA practices on crop yield, owing to regional variation in climate and crop types. CA will most likely increase maize yield but reduce wheat yield. 2VNF-FG design and VNF placement for 5G mobile networks显示文摘Network function virtualization(NFV) is envisioned as one of the critical technologies in 5thGeneration(5G) mobile networks. This paper investigates the virtual network function forwarding graph(VNFFG) design and virtual network function(VNF) placement for 5G mobile networks. We first propose a two-step method composed of flow designing and flow combining for generating VNF-FGs according to network service requests. For mapping VNFs in the generated VNF-FG to physical resources, we then modify the hybrid NFV environment with introducing more types of physical nodes and mapping modes for the sake of completeness and practicality, and formulate the VNF placement optimization problem for achieving lower bandwidth consumption and lower maximum link utilization simultaneously. To resolve this problem, four genetic algorithms are proposed on the basis of the frameworks of two existing algorithms(multiple objective genetic algorithm and improved non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm). Simulation results show that Greedy-NSGA-II achieves the best performance among our four algorithms. Compared with three non-genetic algorithms(random, backtracking mapping and service chains deployment with affiliation-aware), Greedy-NSGA-II reduces 97.04%, 87.76% and88.42% of the average total bandwidth consumption, respectively, and achieves only 13.81%, 25.04% and 25.41%of the average maximum link utilization, respectively. 3Natural variations in flavonoids and triterpenoids of Cyclocarya paliurus leaves显示文摘Cyclocarya paliurus is widely distributed in subtropical areas of China.Secondary metabolites in the leaves,including flavonoids and triterpenoids,provide protection against diseases such as hyperlipidemia,diabetes,hypertension,and hypoimmunity.In this study,343 C.paliurus leaves were collected from 32 distinct populations covering most of the main distribution,to deduce the response of flavonoids and triterpenoids to seven environmental factors.Principal component analysis was performed using seven flavonoid and six triterpenoid compounds.The results show that altitude,latitude,and longitude significantly contributed to variations in total flavonoid and triterpenoid contents.In addition,the interaction of these metabolites was extensively correlated with environment changes,and therefore should be considered during selection and cultivation.Caowen Sun Xulan Shang Haifen Ding Yanni Cao Shengzuo Fang 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,2:6
4Effect of emodin on Aquaporin 5 expression in rats with sepsis-induced acute lung injury显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of emodin on aquaporin 5(AQP5) expression in rats with sepsis-induced acute lung injury.METHODS: We divided 60 adult male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 200-230 g, into four groups: control, sham surgery, model and emodin groups(n = 15 for each). We created a sepsis model with cecal ligation and puncture; the sham surgery group had their cecums replaced after exposure outside the abdominal cavity. Each group was further divided into three subgroups(n = 5 for each)and expressions of AQP5 m RNA and proteins in lung tissue were measured by real-time fluorescence polymerase chain reaction and western blot at 6, 12 and 24 h after surgery.RESULTS: AQP5 expression did not change over time in the control group and sham surgery group,but decreased over time in the model group. The lowest expression was found in 12-h subgroup,which significantly differed from the 6-h subgroup(P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, AQP5 expression in the emodin group was significantly higher in all the subgroups(all P <0.01). Expressions in the 12-h subgroup were the highest, and significantly differed from the other subgroups. We found that lung tissue damage,such as pulmonary edema, alveolar damage and the exudation of red blood cells in pulmonary interstitium and alveolar, was significantly milder in the emodin group under light microscope than the model group.CONCLUSION: AQP5 expression was significantly down-regulated in rats with sepsis-induced acute lung injury induced by cecal ligation and puncture.Early prophylactic use of emodin can significantly enhance the AQP5 expression, thus effectively reducing the degree of pulmonary edema in septic rats.Sun Yanni Sun Lijing Liu Shuqing Song Juan Cheng Jiejing Liu Jun 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,6:5

6Amelioration of imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like dermatitis in mice by DSW therapy inspired hydrogel显示文摘Psoriasis is a long-lasting and recurrent autoimmune disease which is incurable so far.Dead Sea water(DSW)therapy is an effective approach to help control the symptoms of psoriasis due to the abundant mineral ions in DSW,which inspired the material formulation in this study.Rubidium–Sodium alginate/Polyacrylamide hydrogels(Rb-SA/PAAm gels)composed of sodium alginate and polyacrylamide interpenetrating network structure with different concentrations of rubidium and certain magnesium and zinc content were prepared for the treatment of psoriasis.The obtained results suggest the good mechanical properties of the Rb-SA/PAAm gels including toughness and swelling performance.In terms of in vitro tests,the Rb-SA/PAAm gels not only show nontoxicity to human keratinocyte cell line(Hacats)but also inhibits the activity against inflammatory NF-κβ signaling pathway.Meanwhile,they can release Rb+which enable the Rb-SA/PAAm gels have better antibacterial ability to Streptococcus and Escherichia coli.The results obtained from in vivo tests indicate that these hydrogels could alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis caused by Imiquimod(IMQ)in mice by reducing the inflammatory factor in STAT3 pathway and therefore reduce the immune stimulation of the spleen.In conclusion,the 100Rb-SA/PAAm gel has demonstrated great potential to be a topical wettable dressing for psoriasis treatment.Xiang He Bing Zhu WeiJia Xie Yu He Jian Song Yi Zhang Chi Sun Hao Li QiYu Tang XinXin Sun Yanni Tan Yong Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,2:2

12Interactive effect of hot air roasting processes on the sensory property,allergenicity,and oil extraction of sesame(Sesamum indicum L.)seeds显示文摘Sesame seeds are a healthy food ingredient and an oil crop for sesame oil production;however,it has recently been recognized as an essential allergenic food by FAO/WHO.This research investigated the relationship between the hot air roasting process(at 120,150,and 180℃ for 10,20,and 30 min)and several quality attributes of sesame seeds since roasting is the key process for preparing sesame seeds for both consumption and oil production.The hot air process followed the central composite design.The changes of sesame in terms of color,sensory properties(odor,texture,color,and taste),allergenicity caused by oleosins(ses i 4 and ses i 5),as well as oil extraction and quality were monitored using a colorimeter,sensory evaluation panelists,ELISA,as well as oil yield and acid value,respectively.Roasting temperature influenced the product quality more than roasting time,although the two processing parameters significantly interacted with each other(P<0.001).Sensory evaluation indicated medium roasting generated attractive flavor,order,appearance,and crispy texture.Allergenicity was high in sesame seeds after high-temperature roasting,according to IgE binding capacity test.Sesame oil extraction was favored by high-temperature roasting,which,however,adversely affected the oil quality.The optimal roasting conditions were 150.5℃ for 15 min for optimized sesame seeds quality in terms of sensory properties and allergenicity,while roasting at 158℃ for 10 min was optimal for sesame oil production.The finding will benefit the sesame seed industry.Shudong He Tiange Pan Zuoyong Zhang Yanni Wu Hanju Sun Youshui Ma Yi Zhang 2023Grain & Oil Science and Technology2023,6,2:0

14Synergistic utilization of carbon sources for efficient biosynthesis of N-acetylglucosamine显示文摘N-acetylglucosamine(GlcNAc)is an amino monosaccharide that has a variety of bioactivities and is widely used in pharmaceutical and food industries.Production of GlcNAc by chitin hydrolysis is limited by the supply of raw materials and encounters the risk of shellfish protein contamination.For efficient biosynthesis of GlcNAc,one challenge is to balance the carbon distribution between growth and production.Here,we applied the strategy of synergistic carbon utilization,in which glycerol supports cell growth and provides the acetyl group of GlcNAc while glucose serves as the precursor to glucosamine.The efficiency of GlcNAc production was stepwise improved by blocking the product re-uptake and degradation,strengthening the biosynthetic pathway and synergistically utilizing two carbon sources.With these efforts,the final strain produced 41.5 g/L GlcNAc with a yield of 0.49 g/g of total carbon sources.In addition,we also explored the feasibility of using acetate as a cheap carbon source to partly replace glycerol.This study provides a promising alternative strategy for sustainable and efficient pro-duction of GlcNAc.Yanni Pei Yuhan Wang Xiaolin Shen Jia Wang Xinxiao Sun Qipeng Yuan 2023Green Chemical Engineering2023,4,2:0

20Study on screening potential allergenic proteins from infant milk powders based on human mast cell membrane chromatography and histamine release assays显示文摘Cow's milk allergy is mainly observed in infants and young children. Most allergic reactions affect the skin, followed by the gastrointestinal and respiratory systems. Conventional diagnosis is based on positive allergy studies and evaluation of parameters including IgE and IgG1 levels, acute allergic skin response and anaphylactic shock reactions. We developed a cell membrane chromatographic(CMC)method based on human mast cells(HMC-1) for screening potential allergens in infant formula milk powders(IFMP). HMC-1 cell membranes were extracted and mixed with silica to prepare cell membrane chromatography columns(10 mm ? 2 mm i.d., 5 mm). Under the conditions of 0.2 mL/min flow rate and214 nm detection wavelength, human breast milk showed no retention. However, IFMP showed clear retention. The retained fractions were collected and analyzed through matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF-MS). Four major milk proteins, i.e., α-casein, β-casein, α-lactalbumin, and β-lactoglobulin A, were identified. Furthermore, these proteins and β-lactoglobulin B showed clear retention on HMC-1/CMC columns. To test the degranulation effects of the five proteins, histamine and β-hexosaminidase release assays were carried out. All five proteins induced HMC-1 cells to release histamine and β-hexosaminidase. Also, we established a reversed phase liquid chromatographic(RPLC) method for the determination of the five proteins in IFMP and the results showed that 90% proteins in IFMP were α-casein and β-casein. We concluded that cow's milk proteins may be potential allergens and caseins cause more β-casein allergic risk than other proteins.
