Celastrus orbiculatus extract induces mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the apoptotic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of Celastrus orbiculatus(C.orbiculatus) extract in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells.METHODS:Human hepatocellular carcinoma cells(HCCLM6) were treated with C.orbiculatus extract(COE) at different nontoxic concentrations(10,20,40,80,and 160 μg/mL).The effect of COE on HC-CLM6 viability was examined using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assays.Cellular apoptosis following COE treatment was assessed by flow cytometry and western blot analysis.RESULTS:COE significantly inhibited cell viability and induced apoptosis of HCCLM6 cells in a dose-dependent manner.Apoptosis was accompanied by increased Bax expression and decreased Bcl-2 expression. In addition,COE treatment led to the release of cytochrome c,activation of caspase-3,and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP).Furthermore, activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK),p38 kinase, and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK) phosphorylation, and down-regulation of Akt phosphorylation was observed.CONCLUSION:COE induces mitochondrial-mediated,caspase-dependent apoptosis in HCCLM6 cells, which might be attributed to the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) and inhibition of Akt signaling pathways. These data suggest that COE may be a potential treatment for human hepatocellular carcinoma. | Hua Zhang Yayun Qian Yanqing Liu Guoqing Li Pingfang Cui Yaodong Zhu Hui Ma Xue Ji Shiyu Guo Hisamits Tadashi | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,4: | 18
Influence of fault slip on mining-induced pressure and optimization ofroadway support design in fault-influenced zone显示文摘This paper presents an investigation on the characteristics of overlying strata collapse and mininginduced pressure in fault-influenced zone by employing the physical modeling in consideration of fault structure. The precursory information of fault slip during the underground mining activities is studied as well.Based on the physical modeling, the optimization of roadway support design and the field verification in fault-influenced zone are conducted.Physical modeling results show that, due to the combined effect of mining activities and fault slip, the mining-induced pressure and the extent of damaged rock masses in the fault-influenced zone are greater than those in the uninfluenced zone. The sharp increase and the succeeding stabilization of stress or steady increase in displacement can be identified as the precursory information of fault slip.Considering the larger mining-induced pressure in the fault-influenced zone, the new support design utilizing cables is proposed. The optimization of roadway support design suggests that the cables can be anchored in the stable surrounding rocks and can effectively mobilize the load bearing capacity of the stable surrounding rocks. The field observation indicates that the roadway is in good condition with the optimized roadway support design. | Hongwei Wang Yaodong Jiang Sheng Xue Lingtao Mao Zhinan Lin Daixin Deng Dengqiang Zhang | 2016 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,5: | 10

Size, morphology, and composition of lunar samples returned by Chang'E-5 mission显示文摘This study focuses on the physical and chemical properties of surficial lunar regolith(LR)samples returned from the Moon by the Chang’E-5(CE-5)mission.Insights regarding the effect of a new sampling geological site on the surficial lunar sample CE5 C0400 were illustrated using nondestructive techniques such as laser diffractometry coupled with image analysis,X-ray computed tomography, and field emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy, and Xray diffraction combined with Rietveld refinement. From the characterization analyses, the CE-5 sampling site in the northeastern Oceanus Procellarum on the Moon yields a unique collection of relatively regular-shaped and fine basalt-dominated particles. The median grain size D_(50) is(55.24±0.96)μm,falling within the relatively low end of the range of the Apollo lunar returned samples. The coefficient of uniformity C_(u)of 15.1 and the coefficient of curvature C_(c)of 1.7 could classify CE5 C0400 to be well-graded.The minerals in CE5 C0400 comprise approximately 44.5%pyroxene,30.4%plagioclase,3.6%olivine,and6.0%ilmenite.There is a relatively low content of approximately 15.5%glass phase in the CE-5 lunar sample. From the results,we deduce that the CE-5 LR structure could have mainly resulted from micrometeoroid impacts to achieve such a high level of maturity. | Hui Zhang Xian Zhang Guang Zhang Keqi Dong Xiangjin Deng Xiaosong Gao Yaodong Yang Yuan Xiao Xiao Bai Kaixin Liang Yiwei Liu Wenbin Ma Shaofan Zhao Ce Zhang Xiaojing Zhang Jian Song Wei Yao Hong Chen Weihua Wang Zhigang Zou Mengfei Yang | 2022 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2022,65,2: | 4
On-chip chalcogenide microresonators with low-threshold parametric oscillation显示文摘Chalcogenide glass (ChG) is an attractive material for highly efficient nonlinear photonics, which can cover an ultrabroadband wavelength window from the near-visible to the footprint infrared region. However,it remains a challenge to implement highly-efficient and low-threshold optical parametric processes in chip-scale ChG devices due to thermal and light-induced instabilities as well as a high-loss factor in ChG films. Here,we develop a systematic fabrication process for high-performance photonic-chip-integrated ChG devices,by which planarintegrated ChG microresonators with an intrinsic quality (Q) factor above 1 million are demonstrated. In particular,an in situ light-induced annealing method is introduced to overcome the longstanding instability underlying ChG film. In high-Q ChG microresonators, optical parametric oscillations with threshold power as low as 5.4 mW are demonstrated for the first time,to our best knowledge. Our results would contribute to efforts of making efficient and low-threshold optical microcombs not only in the near-infrared as presented but more promisingly in the midinfrared range. | BIN ZHANG PINGYANG ZENG ZELIN YANG DI XIA JIAXIN ZHAO YAODONG SUN YUFEI HUANG JINGCUI SONG JINGSHUN PAN HUANJIE CHENG DUKYONG CHOI ZHAOHUI LI | 2021 | Photonics Research2021,9,7: | 4
Waste biomass from production process co-firing with coal in a steam boiler to reduce fossil fuel consumption:A case study显示文摘Waste biomass is always generated during the production process in industries. The ordinary way to get rid of the waste biomass is to send them to landfill or burn it in the open field. The waste may potentially be used for co-firing with coal to save fossil fuel consumption and also reduce net carbon emissions. In this case study, the bio-waste from a Nicotiana Tabacum(NT) pre-treatment plant is used as the biomass to co-fire with coal. The samples of NT wastes were analysed. It was found that the wastes were of the relatively high energy content which were suitable for co-firing with coal.To investigate the potential and benefits for adding NT wastes to a Fluidised Bed Combustion(FBC) boiler in the plant, detailed modelling and simulation are carried out using the European Coal Liquefaction Process Simulation and Evaluation (ECLIPSE) process simulation package. The feedstock blending ratios of NT waste to coal studied in this work are varied from 0%to 30%. The results show that the addition of NT wastes may decrease the emissions of CO2 and SOx without reducing the boiler performance. | Hongyan Gu Kai Zhang Yaodong Wang Ye Huang Neil Hewitt Anthony P Roskilly | 2013 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,3: | 3

Based on the research, especially its geological condition, indoor experiments, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis were employed to determine the difficult coefficients of Yangquhe project. By using these means, the difficult coefficients of the deep rock engineering were determined. From a study of the effects of crustal stress and the roof mechanism on roadway stability, the transformation mechanism in Yangquhe coal mine has been determined. As a result of this research, the interactive support technology of prestressed cable mesh was developed and the technology tested in mining engineering, which proved to be feasible. | Zeng Xiantao Jiang Yaodong Jiang Cong Ma Zhenqian Zhan Shaojian Zhang Kexue He Changhai | 2014 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2014,24,6: | 3 |
N/Ce doped graphene supported Pt nanoparticles for the catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde at room temperature显示文摘Pt catalysts with nitrogen-doped graphene oxide (GO) as support and CeO_(2)as promoter were prepared by impregnation method, and their catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde (HCHO) at room temperature was tested. The Pt-CeO_(2)/N-rGO (reduced GO) with a mass fraction of 0.7% Pt and 0.8%CeO_(2)exhibited an excellent catalytic performance with the 100% conversion of HCHO at room temperature.Physicochemical characterization demonstrated that nitrogendoping greatly increased the defect degree and the specific surface area of GO,enhanced the dispersion of Pt and promoted more zero-valent Pt.The synergistic effect between CeO_(2)and Pt was also beneficial to the dispersion of Pt.Nitrogen-doping promoted the production of more Ce3+ions,generating more oxygen vacancies, which was conducive to O_(2)adsorption.As a result, the catalyst exhibited enhanced redox properties, leading to the best catalytic activity. Finally,an attempt to propose the reaction mechanism of HCHO oxidation has been made. | Yaodong Guo Zhaoying Di Xiaonan Guo Ying Wei Runduo Zhang Jingbo Jia | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,3: | 2
Supramolecular self-assembly of two-component systems comprising aromatic amides/Schiff base and tartaric acid显示文摘The gelating properties and thermotropic behaviors of stoichiometric mixtures of aromatic amides 1,2,and the aromatic Schiffbase 3 with tartaric acid(TA)were investigated.Among the three gelators,2-TA exhibited superior gelating ability.Mixture 2-TA exhibits a smectic B phase and an unidentified smectic mesophase during both heating and cooling runs. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction revealed the existence of hydrogen bonding and rc-ninteractions in 2-TA systems, which are likely to be the dominant driving forces for the supramolecular selfassembly.Additionally,it was established that all of the studied gel self-assemblies and mesophases possess alamellar structure. The anion response ability of the tetrahydrofuran gel of 2-TA was evaluated and it was found that it was responsive to the stimuli of F,Cl,Br,I,AcO. | Xin Wang Wei Cui Bin Li Xiaojie Zhang Yongxin Zhang Yaodong Huang | 2020 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2020,14,6: | 2

Characterization of deep ground geothermal field in Jiahe Coal Mine显示文摘Research into the characteristics of geothermal fields is important for the control of heat damage in mines. Based on measured geothermal data of boreholes from 200 m to 1200 m in a Jiahe Coal Mine, we demonstrate non-linear but increasing relations of both geo-temperatures and geothermal gradients with increases depth. Numerically, we fitted the relationship between geo-temperatures and depth, a first-order exponential decay curve, formulated as: T(h) = 4.975 + 23.08 exp(h/1736.1). | Zhang Yi Guo Dongming He Manchao Jiang Yaodong Yang Ching | 2011 | Mining Science and Technology2011,21,3: | 2

Ultrastructure of human neural stem/progenitor cells and neurospheres显示文摘BACKGROUND:Biological and morphological characteristics of neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) have been widely investigated. OBJECTIVE:To explore the ultrastructure of human embryo-derived NSPCs and neurospheres cultivated in vitro using electron microscopy. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A cell biology experiment was performed at the Brain Tumor Laboratory of Soochow University, and Jiangsu Province Key Laboratory of Neuroregeneration, Nantong University between August 2007 and April 2008. MATERIALS:Human fetal brain tissue was obtained from an 8-week-old aborted fetus;serum-free Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium/F_(12) culture medium was provided by Gibco,USA;scanning electron microscope was provided by Hitachi Instruments,Japan;transmission electron microscope was provided by JEOL,Japan. METHODS:NSPCs were isolated from human fetal brain tissue and cultivated in serum-free Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium/F_(12) culture medium.Cells were passaged every 5-7 days. After three passages,NSPCs were harvested and used for ultrastructural examination. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Ultrastructural examination of human NSPCs and adjacent cells in neurospheres. RESULTS:Individual NSPCs were visible as spherical morphologies with rough surfaces under scanning electron microscope.Generally, they had large nuclei and little cytoplasm.Nuclei were frequently globular with large amounts of euchromatin and a small quantity of heterochromatin, and most NSPCs had only one nucleolus. The Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum were underdeveloped;however, autophagosomes were clearly visible. The neurospheres were made up of NSPCs and non-fixiform material inside.Between adjacent cells and at the cytoplasmic surface of apposed plasma membranes, there were vesicle-like structures. Some membrane boundaries with high permeabilities were observed between some contiguous NSPCs in neurospheres, possibly attributable to plasmalemmal fusion between adjacent cells. CONCLUSION:A large number of autophagosomes were observed in NSPCs and gap junctions were visible between adjacent NSPCs. | Yaodong Zhao Tianyi Zhang Qiang Huang Aidong Wang Jun Dong Qing Lan Zhenghong Qin | 2009 | Neural Regeneration Research2009,4,5: | 1

Fabrication and Thermal Conductivity Improvement of Novel Composite Adsorbents adding with Nanoparticles显示文摘Thermal conductivity is one of key parameters of adsorbents, which will affect the overall system performance of adsorption chiller. To improve adsorbent's thermal conductivity is always one of research focuses in chemisorption field. A new chemical composite adsorbent is fabricated by adding carbon coated metal(Aluminum and Nickel) nanoparticles with three different addition amounts into the mixture of chloride salts and natural expanded graphite aiming to improve the thermal conductivity. The preparation processes and its thermal conductivity of this novel composite adsorbent are reported and summarized. Experimental results indicate that the nanoparticles are homogenously dispersed in the composite adsorbent by applying the reported preparation processes. The thermal conductivity of the composite adsorbent can averagely enlarge by 20% when the weight ratio of the added nanoparticles is 10wt%. Moreover, carbon coated aluminum nanoparticles exhibit more effective enlargement in thermal conductivity than nickel nanoparticles. As for the composite adsorbent of Ca Cl2-NEG, there is a big reinforcement from 30% to 50% for Al@C nanoparticles, however only 10% in maximum caused by Ni@C nanoparticles. The proposed research provides a methodology to design and prepare thermal conductive chemical composite adsorbent. | WU Qibai YU Xiaofen ZHANG Haiyan CHEN Yiming LIU Liying XIE Xialin TANG Ke LU Yiji WANG Yaodong ROSKILLY Anthony Paul | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2016,29,6: | 1
