| 2 | Comprehensive analysis of NAC transcription factors and their expression during fruit spine development in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)显示文摘The cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)is an important vegetable crop worldwide,and fruit trichomes or spines are an important trait for external fruit quality.The mechanisms underlying spine formation are not well understood,but the plant-specific NAC family of transcription factors may play important roles in fruit spine initiation and development.In this study,we conducted a genome-wide survey and identified 91 NAC gene homologs in the cucumber genome.Clustering analysis classified these genes into six subfamilies;each contained a varying number of NAC family members with a similar intron–exon structure and conserved motifs.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed tissue-specific expression patterns of these genes,including 10 and 12 that exhibited preferential expression in the stem and fruit,respectively.Thirteen of the 91 NAC genes showed higher expression in the wild-type plant than in its near-isogenic trichome mutant,suggesting their important roles in fruit spine development.Exogenous application of four plant hormones promoted spine formation and increased spine density on the cucumber fruits;several NAC genes showed differential expression over time in response to phytohormone treatments on cucumber fruit,implying their essential roles in fruit-trichome development.Among the NAC genes identified,12 were found to be targets of 13 known cucumber micro-RNAs.Collectively,these findings provide a useful resource for further analysis of the interactions between NAC genes and genes underlying trichome organogenesis and development during fruit spine development in cucumber. | Xingwang Liu Ting wang Ezra Bartholomew Kezia Black Mingming Dong Yaqi Zhang Sen Yang Yanling Cai Shudan Xue Yiqun Weng Huazhong Ren | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 10 |
| 3 | A quantification model of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes in children with idiopathic precocious puberty and early puberty显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To establish a quantification model of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndromes by sampling patients undergoing idiopathic precocious puberty(IPP)and early puberty.METHODS:A questionnaire for classifying and quantifying TCM syndromes was designed and administered.All the results were analyzed;the relationship between 3 types of syndrome and 47symptoms were summated.Meanwhile,the frequency distribution of each symptom or sign was aggregated.Fuzzy mathematics was used to develop a quantification model ofTCM syndromes.RESULTS:We found that precocious puberty had 3types of syndrome,including hyperactivity of fire due to Yin deficiency(Syndrome I),depressed liver Qi transforming into fire(Syndrome II),and end retention of damp heat(Syndrome III).In the IPP group,Syndrome I was the most common principal syndrome(100%).Forty-six patients(43.81%)werediagnosed with Syndrome I accompanied by Syndrome II and 11(10.48%)were diagnosed with Syndrome I accompanied by Syndrome III.In the early puberty group,Syndrome I was also the main syndrome(98.39%).The degrees of most symptoms were mild to moderate.Reddened tongue was the most common tongue manifestation(62.86%prevalence)in the IPP group.The most common pulse manifestations were slippery pulse,thread pulse,and taut pulse.The Asymptotic Normalization Coefficient(ANC)method was used to quantify the TCM syndromes in 167 cases.Diagnostic accuracy rate reached 91%,comparable to expert diagnosis.CONCLUSION:We find that there are 3 types of syndrome in the IPP group and in the early puberty group.Syndrome I(hyperactivity of fire due to Yin deficiency)is the main syndrome in the two groups.ANC may be an appropriate for quantification model ofTCM syndromes. | Yanyan Lin Yuanyuan Xue Jian Yu Yonghong Wang Wen Sun Yanyan Sun Yumin Shi Yiqun Zhang Hong Hu | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5: | 9 |

| 5 | Regulatory effects of stage-treatment with established Chinese herbal formulas on inflammatory mediators in pediatric asthma显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the regulatory effects of established Chinese herbal formulas on inflammatory mediators released during asthma attacks, and to elucidate the molecular mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of asthma. METHODS: Seventy-five asthmatic children were randomly divided into a Chinese medication group(45 cases) and a Western medication control group(30 cases). Patients in the Chinese medication group were treated with a series of established Chinese herbal formulas, whereas the Western medication control group received a leukotriene receptor antagonist and a bronchial relaxant. Real-time PCR was used to determine the mRNA expression levels of interleukin(IL)-4, cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1(CysLTR1), and interferon(IFN)-γ in peripheral blood mononuclear cells before and after treatment. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure the peripheral blood levels of IL-4, leukotriene(LTE)-4, and INF-γ before and after treatment. RESULTS: After treatment, the mRNA expression levels of IL-4 and CysLTR1 were down-regulated(P< 0.01) and the mRNA expression levels of IFN-γ were up-regulated(P<0.05) in the Chinese medication and Western medication groups; no significant difference was found between the two groups. In the Chinese medication group, IL-4 blood level was decreased and it was significantly different from that in the Western medication group(P<0.05); there was also a significant increase in IFN-γ blood levels after treatment with Chinese medication(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in LTE-4 blood levels between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05). | 6 | Sedimentary fill history of the Huicheng Basin in the West Qinling Mountains and associated constraints on Mesozoic intracontinental tectonic evolution显示文摘The Qinling Orogenic Belt is divided commonly by the Fengxian-Taibai strike-slip shear zone and the Huicheng Basin into the East and West Qinling mountains,which show significant geological differences after the Indosinian orogeny.The Fengxian-Taibai fault zone and the Meso-Cenozoic Huicheng Basin,situated at the boundary of the East and West Qinling,provide a natural laboratory for tectonic analysis and sedimentological study of intracontinental tectonic evolution of the Qinling Orogenic Belt.In order to explain the dynamic development of the Huicheng Basin and elucidate its post-orogenic tectonic evolution at the junction of the East and West Qinling,we studied the geometry and kinematics of fault zones between the blocks of West Qinling,as well as the sedimentary fill history of the Huicheng Basin.First,we found that after the collisional orogeny in the Late Triassic,post-orogenic extensional collapse occurred in the Early and Middle Jurassic within the Qinling Orogenic Belt,resulting in a series of rift basins.Second,in the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous,a NE-SW compressive stress field caused large-scale sinistral strike-slip faults in the Qinling Orogenic Belt,causing intracontinental escape tectonics at the junction of the East and West Qinling,including eastward finite escape of the East Qinling micro-plate and southwest lateral escape of the Bikou Terrane.Meanwhile,the strike-slip-related Early Cretaceous sedimentary basin was formed with a right-order echelon arrangement in sinistral shear zones along the southern margin of the Huicheng fault.Overall during the Mesozoic,the Huicheng Basin and surrounding areas experienced four tectonic evolutionary stages,including extensional rift basin development in the Early and Middle Jurassic,intense compressive uplift in the Late Jurassic,formation of a strike-slip extensional basin in the Early Cretaceous,and compressive uplift in the Late Cretaceous. | LI Wei DONG YunPeng GUO AnLin LIU XiaoMing LIU YiQun ZHA XianFeng ZHANG KuaiLe | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,10: | 7 |
| 7 | Prescriptions from Traditional Chinese Medicine compared with salbutamol and montelukast for the treatment of pediatric asthma: a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To compare the effects of a series of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) empirical prescriptions with salbutamol and montelukast(SM) in children with asthma.METHODS: A total of 182 children with asthma were randomized into the TCM group(n = 97) or SM group(n = 85). Patients in the TCM group were treated with a series of TCM prescriptions, whereas those in the SM group received salbutamol and montelukast; both groups received their respective treatment for 12 weeks. Asthma control, changes in scores of TCM symptom patterns, and asthma symptom control(SC) scores after treatment were compared between the two groups.RESULTS: A higher percentage of patients in the TCM group had asthma control compared withthose in the SM group(91.67% and 76.83%, respectively, P = 0.006). Scores for abnormal feces(P <0.001), hyperhidrosis(P < 0.001), and tongue appearance(P = 0.001) in the TCM group were significantly better than those in the SM group. | 8 | Geochemical characteristics and tectonic setting of the Middle Permian Tiaohu Formation mafic-ultramafic rocks of Santanghu area, Xinjiang, Northwest China显示文摘Santanghu area in northeastern Xinjiang region of Northwest China is an important component of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB), in which the dynamic mechanism of Permian magmatism is controversial. In Santanghu area is exposed a thick succession of the Middle Permian basalts, including a small amount of picritic basalts and andesites, known as the Tiaohu Formation. The picritic basalts contain cumulate olivine, and have whole-rock Mg# up to 0.68–0.77; the basalts exhibit porphyritic or doleritic textures, and have relatively low Mg# of 0.41–0.54, typical of evolved magmas. The mafic-ultramafic rocks of the Tiaohu Formation are slightly enriched in Light Rare Earth Elements(LREEs), and exhibit negative Nb and Ti anomalies. They also have high Ti O2 content, and Nb/Y and Zr/Yb ratios greater than those of island arc volcanic rocks. Relatively low initial Sr isotopic ratios and high positive εNd(t) and εHf(t) values argue against contamination by ancient continental crust, and suggest formation of the Tiaohu Formation by partial melting of relatively refractory depleted lithospheric mantle that underwent metasomatism and extraction by fluid from the subducted slab. In addition, up to 38% olivine in picritic basalts indicates high-degree partial melting of lithospheric mantle, and the underlying Lucaogou Formation contains fragments of ultra-alkaline magmatic rocks that originated in the deep mantle. | 10 | Research on diagenesis of the sandstone-type uranium deposits in Dongsheng area, Ordos Basin显示文摘Synthetic methods of thin section petrography, scanning electron microscope, electron microprobe, energy spectrum analysis, cathodoluminescence, isotopic analysis and temperature measuring for fluid inclusions were used in analyzing sandstone samples collected from the Zhiluo Formation in order to fully understand the diagenesis evolution and the mineralizing response as well as the genesis of the uranium-bearing sandstone in Dongsheng area. The result shows that (1) the sandstone include lithic silicarenite, feldspathic litharenite and litharenite; (2) the authigenic minerals include clay minerals, carbonate minerals, siliceous and ferric minerals; (3) the physical property of sandstone is obviously controlled by diagenesis; and (4) the sandstone with favorable physical property is propitious to migration and storage of ore-forming fluid, and finally, forming the ore deposit. The sandstone of the Zhiluo Formation had undergone the early diagenetic stage (periods A and B) and the epidiagenetic stage. The evolution of diagenetic environment is in the order of acidic oxidation, alkalescent deoxidization, acidity to transitional environment of oxidation-deoxidization and acidity-alkalescence. The uranium exists in forms of pre-enrichment uranyl ion, active uranyl ion, dispersive adsorptive uranium and uranium mineral, respectively. | 12 | Effect of warm acupuncture on nitric oxide synthase and calcitonin gene-related peptide in a rat model of lumbar nerve root compression显示文摘BACKGROUND:Varying degrees of inflammatory responses occur during lumbar nerve root compression.Studies have shown that nitric oxide synthase(NOS) and calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) are involved in secondary disc inflammation. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of warm acupuncture on the ultrastructure of inflammatory mediators in a rat model of lumbar nerve root compression,including NOS and CGRP contents. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Randomized,controlled study,with molecular biological analysis, was performed at the Experimental Center,Sixth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University,between September 2006 and April 2007. MATERIALS:Acupuncture needles and refined Moxa grains were purchased from Shanghai Taicheng Technology Development Co.,Ltd.,China;Mobic tablets were purchased from Shanghai Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Co.,Ltd.,China;enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits for NOS and CGRP were purchased from ADL Biotechnology,Inc.,USA. METHODS:A total of 50,healthy,adult Sprague-Dawley rats,were randomly divided into five groups normal,model,warm acupuncture,acupuncture,and drug,with 10 rats in each group.Rats in the four groups,excluding the normal group,were used to establish models of lumbar nerve root compression.After 3 days,Jiaji points were set using reinforcing-reducing manipulation in the warm acupuncture group.Moxa grains were burned on each needle,with 2 grains each daily.The acupuncture group was the same as the warm acupuncture group,with the exception of non-moxibustion.Mobic suspension(3.75 mg/kg) was used in the oral drug group,once a day. Treatment of each group lasted for 14 consecutive days.Modeling and medication were not performed in the normal group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The ultrastructure of damaged nerve roots was observed with transmission electron microscopy;NOS and CGRP contents were measured using ELISA. RESULTS:The changes of the radicular ultramicrostructure were characterized by Wallerian degeneration;nerve fibers were clearly demyelinated;axons collapsed or degenerated;outer Schwann cell cytoplasm was swollen and its nucleus was compacted.Compared with the normal group,NOS and CGRP contents in the nerve root compression zone in the model group were significantly increased(P<0.01).Nerve root edema was improved in the drug,acupuncture and the warm acupuncture groups over the model group.NOS and CGRP expressions were also decreased with the warm acupuncture group having the lowest concentration(P<0.01). Effective upconversion luminescence from NaYF_4:20%Yb, 2%Tm NCs excited by a continuous wave(CW) 980 nm laser is obtained. The NaYF_4:20%Yb, 2%Tm NCs are then used as a laser gain medium and sandwiched between Al and quartz reflectors to form laser microcavities. UV and blue upconverted random lasing is obtained from the laser microcavities. Hence, we verify explicitly that the NaYF_4:Yb, Tm NCs support UV and blue upconversion random lasing via a 980 nm nanosecond laser excitation. | 18 | Chronic acalculous cholecystitis:correlation of clinical assessment,laboratory data and final histopathology显示文摘Objective:To summarize and analyze the clinical and histopathological features of chronic acalculous cholecystitis (CAC) and to investigate the diagnosis and surgical treatment of chronic acalculous cholecystit.Methods:The study subjects were 39 patients with chronic biliary symptoms but no evidence of stones in the gallbladder by B ultrasonography and magnetic resonance cholopancreatography (MRCP) (CAC group).The CCC group consisted of 66 patients taken randomly from concurrent all patients of chronic calculous cholecystitis (CCC).All patients accepted fibergastroscopy,B ultrasonography,MRCP,laboratory examination preoperatively.We retrospectively analyzed the clinical features,B ultrasonography and MRCP findings,histopathological results and clinical outcomes between the two groups.Results:All the 39 patients were diagnosed by clinical symptoms,B ultrasonography,fatty meal gallbladder contractability studies under ultrasound,fibergastroscopy and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP),what's more,they were pathologically verified postoperatively.In all patients,there was a complete absence of gallbladder wall contractability.Mucosa epithelial defect was found in 21 patients in CAC group (53.8%) and 16 patients in CCC group (24.2%) respectively (P<0.005).Thickened arteriole wall was found in 29 patients in CAC group (74.4%) and none patient in CCC group (P<0.0001).Thickened gallbladder wall (4 mm or more in thickness) was found in 33 patients in CAC group (84.6%) and 28 patients in CCC group (42.4%) respectively (P<0.005).Bile stasis was found in 23 patients in CAC group (59.0%) and 14 patients in CCC group (21.2%) respectively by ultrasonography preoperatively and confirmed in operation (P<0.005).The outcomes of cholecystectomy,expressed as total or near total relief,was similar in the two groups.No statistically significant differences were observed between patients with CAC (90%) and CCC (80%),the P-value >0.05.Conclusion:Chronic acalculous cholecystitis could be diagnosed by symptoms,ultrasound,fatty meal gallbladder contractability studies under untrasoundand MRCP.The optimal treatment of chronic acalculous cholecystitis characterized by thickened arteriole wall and mucosa epithelial defect is cholecystectomy. | Yan Jianjun Zhu Qian Shen Jun Zhou Feiguo Huang Liang Liu Caifeng Zhang Xianghua Cong Wenming Yan Yiqun | 2012 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2012,27,2: | 4 |
