1Application of artificial neural networks in global climate change and ecological research:An overview显示文摘Fields that employ artificial neural networks(ANNs)have developed and expanded continuously in recent years with the ongoing development of computer technology and artificial intelligence.ANN has been adopted widely and put into practice by research-ers in light of increasing concerns over ecological issues such as global warming,frequent El Nio-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)events,and atmospheric circulation anomalies.Limitations exist and there is a potential risk for misuse in that ANN model pa-rameters require typically higher overall sensitivity,and the chosen network structure is generally more dependent upon individ-ual experience.ANNs,however,are relatively accurate when used for short-term predictions;despite global climate change re-search favoring the effects of interactions as the basis of study and the preference for long-term experimental research.ANNs remain a better choice than many traditional methods when dealing with nonlinear problems,and possesses great potential for the study of global climate change and ecological issues.ANNs can resolve problems that other methods cannot.This is especially true for situations in which measurements are difficult to conduct or when only incomplete data are available.It is anticipated that ANNs will be widely adopted and then further developed for global climate change and ecological research.LIU ZeLin PENG ChangHui XIANG WenHua TIAN DaLun DENG XiangWen ZHAO MeiFang 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34:9
2Adsorption of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole from aqueous solution by organo-bentonite显示文摘The adsorption behavior of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole onto organo-bentonite was investigated.Natural bentonite from Gaozhou in Guangdong Province,China was collected.Organo-bentonite was prepared by intercalation of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide into the natural bentonite.The physicochemical properties of the prepared organo-bentonite were characterized by X-ray diffraction,N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The results showed that montmorillonite is the main component of the natural bentonite.The basal spacing of the natural bentonite is 1.47 nm,which increased to 1.98 nm on intercalation with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide.Moreover,both the surface area and pore volume increased with intercalation.Clear CH2 stretching(3000-2800 cm-1) and scissoring(1480-1450 cm-1) modes of the intercalated surfactants were observed for organobentonite.Compared with the pseudo first-order kinetic model,the pseudo second-order kinetic model is more suitable to describe the adsorption kinetics of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole onto organo-bentonite.The adsorption capacity of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole onto organo-bentonite increased with increasing initial concentration of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole,but decreased with increasing adsorbent dosage.The adsorption isotherm of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole onto organo-bentonite fits well with the Langmuir model.The maximum adsorption capacity of organo-bentonite for 2-mercaptobenzothiazole was 33.61 mg/g,indicating that organo-bentonite is a promising adsorbent for 2-mercaptobenzothiazole.Ping Jing Meifang Hou Ping Zhao Xiaoyan Tang Hongfu Wan 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,6:6

4The role of β18-β19 loop structure in insecticidal activity of Cry1Ac toxin from Bacillus thuringiensis显示文摘The β18-β19 loop in domain III of Cry1Ac toxin is unique among Bacillus thuringiensis Cry proteins. In this study, the role of the loop structure in insecticidal activity of Cry1Ac toxin was investigated. Alanine scanning mutations within the loop were initially generated and most mutants were over-expressed and reduced toxicity at different degrees, except mutant N546A that showed almost 2 times enhanced toxicity against Helicoverpa armigera larvae. Further mutagenic analysis of N546 revealed that a charged amino acid in this position would cause very unfavorable influence on insecticidal activity. In addition, the deletion of N546 led to protein instability because of destruction of the loop integrity. Besides, mutant W544F was much more toxic than W544Y, indicating that hydrophobic nature of the position was important for maintaining the stability and activity of Cry1Ac protein. 5The relationships among aerosol optical depth, ice, phytoplankton and dimethylsulfide and the implication for future climate in the Greenland Sea显示文摘The sea-to-air flux of dimethylsulphide(DMS) is one of the major sources of marine biogenic aerosol, and can have an important radiative impact on climate, especially in the Arctic Ocean. Satellite-derived aerosol optical depth(AOD) is used as a proxy for aerosol burden which is dominated by biogenic aerosol during summer and autumn. The spring sea ice melt period is a strong source of aerosol precursors in the Arctic. However, high aerosol levels in early spring are likely related to advection of continental pollution from the south(Arctic haze).Higher AOD was generally registered in the southern part of the study region. Sea ice concentration(SIC) and AOD were positively correlated, while cloud cover(CLD) and AOD were negative correlation. The seasonal peaks of SIC and CLD were both one month ahead of the peak in AOD. There is a strong positive correlation between AOD and SIC. Melting ice is positively correlated with chlorophyll a(CHL) almost through March to September,but negatively correlated with AOD in spring and early summer. Elevated spring and early summer AOD most likely were influenced by combination of melting ice and higher spring wind in the region. The peak of DMS flux occurred in spring due to the elevated spring wind and more melting ice. DMS concentration and AOD were positively correlated with melting ice from March to May. Elevated AOD in early autumn was likely related to the emission of biogenic aerosols associated with phytoplankton synthesis of DMS. The DMS flux would increase more than triple by 2100 in the Greenland Sea. The significant increase of biogenic aerosols could offset the warming in the Greenland Sea.QU Bo GABRIC Albert J. 7Influence of acetone on nanostructure and electrochemical properties of interfacial synthesized polyaniline nanofibers显示文摘The growth of polyaniline(PANI) nano fi bers through interfacial polymerization can be well controlled by adding a small amount of acetone in the water/chloroform system. It was found that the polymerization rate became slower in the presence of acetone, yielding PANI nano fi bers with larger aspect ratios. The in fl uences of the acetone addition on the morphology, microstructure and properties of as-prepared PANI nano fi bers were studied by scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM), ultraviolet–visible spectra(UV–vis), Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravity analysis(TGA), and electrical and electrochemical measurements. The experimental results showed that PANI nano fi bers prepared by using ammonium persulfate(APS) as an oxidant with acetone exhibited slower growth, the larger ratio of length to diameter, and higher crystallinity(2θ=6℃, 19℃, 26℃) than that without acetone, meanwhile remained larger yield of 11.23% and higher conductivity 1.8*10-2S/cm compared with that obtained by replacing APS with Fe Cl3. 8Integrated dynamic wet spinning of core-sheath hydrogel fibers for optical-to-brain/tissue communications显示文摘Hydrogel optical light-guides have received substantial interest for applications such as deep-tissue biosensors,optogenetic stimulation and photomedicine due to their biocompatibility,(micro)structure control and tissue-like Young’s modulus.However,despite recent developments,large-scale fabrication with a continuous synthetic methodology,which could produce core-sheath hydrogel fibers with the desired optical and mechanical properties suitable for deep-tissue applications,has yet to be achieved.In this study,we report a versatile concept of integrated light-triggered dynamic wet spinning capable of continuously producing core-sheath hydrogel optical fibers with tunable fiber diameters,and mechanical and optical propagation properties.Furthermore,this concept also exhibited versatility for various kinds of core-sheath functional fibers.The wet spinning synthetic procedure and fabrication process were optimized with the rational design of the core/sheath material interface compatibility[core=poly(ethylene glycol diacrylate-co-acrylamide);sheath=Ca-alginate],optical transparency,refractive index and spinning solution viscosity.The resulting hydrogel optical fibers exhibited desirable low optical attenuation(0.18±0.01 d B cm^(-1) with 650 nm laser light),excellent biocompatibility and tissue-like Young’s modulus(<2.60 MPa).The optical waveguide hydrogel fibers were successfully employed for deep-tissue cancer therapy and brain optogenetic stimulation,confirming that they could serve as an efficient versatile tool for diverse deep-tissue therapy and brain optogenetic applications.Guoyin Chen Gang Wang Xinrong Tan Kai Hou Qingshuo Meng Peng Zhao Shun Wang Jiayi Zhang Zhan Zhou Tao Chen Yanhua Cheng D Benjamin S.Hsiao Elsa Reichmanis Meifang Zhu 2021National Science Review2021,8,9:2

15Temporally Separated CO_(2) Photoreduction and H_(2)O Photooxidation over Redox-Active Conjugated Organic Polymer Films显示文摘Photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction with H_(2)O of chemicals without H2 generation is interesting but challenging.Herein,we report temporally separated CO_(2) photoreduction and H_(2)O photooxidation that are achieved over redox-active o-hydroxyazo-based conjugated organic polymer films(HAzo-COPFs),affording CO with high efficiency as the sole reduction product.HAzo-COPFs are prepared via interfacial diazo-coupling reactions of aromatic diamines and diphenols,and HAzo-COPF-1 from 4,4′-biphenol and benzidine shows the best performance with a CO generation rate of 53.6μmol g−1 h−1 under visible-light irradiation(>420 nm).Interestingly,we discovered that diphenol(DP-OH)moieties in HAzo-COPFs,serving as electron and proton donors to participate in CO_(2) photoreduction,are oxidized into quinone(DP=O)moieties,which are subsequently photoreduced to regenerate DP-OH in H_(2)O photooxidation.Consequently,CO_(2) photoreduction and H_(2)O photooxidation are temporally separated and perfectly coupled via redox transformation between DP-OH and DP=O that form in situ,affording enhanced charge carrier separation and inhibiting the hydrogen evolution reaction.This work provides new insights for the design of COP photocatalysts and artificial photosynthesis.Guipeng Ji Yuepeng Wang Wenqiang Ye Meifang Chen Fengtao Zhang Yanfei Zhao Shengrui Tong Buxing Han Zhimin Liu 2023CCS Chemistry2023,5,8:0

20Study on the Effect of Aqueous Extract of Houttuynia cordata on Serum TNF-αand IL-6 Content in Mice Infected with Five Common Pathogenic Bacteria显示文摘[Objectives]To observe the effect of aqueous extract of Houttuynia cordata on the content of serum TNF-αand IL-6 in mice with abdominal infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Proteus vulgaris and Klebsiella pneumoniae,so as to investigate the antibacterial effect of aqueous extract of Houttuynia cordata in vivo.[Methods]A total of 72 KM mice were randomly divided into six groups:model group,blank group,cefdinir dispersible tablet group(0.25 g/kg),high,medium and low dose groups of aqueous extract of Houttuynia cordata(40,20,10 g/kg crude drug).There were 12 mice in each group,half male and half female,continuously given intragastric administration for three days,once a day.The blank group and the model group were intragastrically infused with normal saline,and the other groups were given corresponding drugs with a volume of 0.02 mL/g.After 30 min of administration on the third day,the mice were injected intraperitoneally with 0.5 mL of bacterial suspension to make bacterial infection.The mice in the blank group were intraperitoneally injected with the same amount of normal saline,followed by intragastric administration 6 h after intraperitoneal injection and intragastric administration again after 24 h.The mice were observed for three days,and the changes of body weight before and after infection were recorded.On the fourth day of infection,eyeball blood was taken,serum was separated,and the concentration of inflammatory factors TNF-αand IL-6 in serum was determined.[Results]Compared with the model group,the high,medium and low dose groups of H.cordata aqueous extract had protective effects on mice with abdominal infection caused by S.aureus,E.coli,P.aeruginosa,P.vulgaris and K.pneumoniae,and decreased the content of TNF-αand IL-6 in serum.[Conclusions]The aqueous extract of H.cordata had a certain antibacterial effect on acute abdominal infection caused by S.aureus,E.coli,P.aeruginosa,P.vulgaris and K.pneumoniae,and its mechanism was related to TNF-αand IL-6.Meiyuan LU Chunli TANG Fengxian ZHAO Xiaoyu HUANG Hongxia CHEN Meifang LI 2020Medicinal Plant2020,11,5:0
