1Full-colour nanoprint-hologram synchronous metasurface with arbitrary hue-saturationbrightness control显示文摘The colour gamut,a two-dimensional(2D)colour space primarily comprising hue and saturation(HS),lays the most important foundation for the colour display and printing industries.Recently,the metasurface has been considered a promising paradigm for nanoprinting and holographic imaging,demonstrating a subwavelength image resolution,a flat profile,high durability,and multi-functionalities.Much effort has been devoted to broaden the 2D HS plane,also known as the CIE map.However,the brightness(B),as the carrier of chiaroscuro information,has long been neglected in metasurface-based nanoprinting or holograms due to the challenge in realising arbitrary and simultaneous control of full-colour HSB tuning in a passive device.Here,we report a dielectric metasurface made of crystal silicon nanoblocks,which achieves not only tailorable coverage of the primary colours red,green and blue(RGB)but also intensity control of the individual colours.The colour gamut is hence extruded from the 2D CIE to a complete 3D HSB space.Moreover,thanks to the independent control of the RGB intensity and phase,we further show that a singlelayer silicon metasurface could simultaneously exhibit arbitrary HSB colour nanoprinting and a full-colour hologram image.Our findings open up possibilities for high-resolution and high-fidelity optical security devices as well as advanced cryptographic approaches.Yanjun Bao Ying Yu Haofei Xu Chao Guo Juntao Li Shang Sun Zhang-Kai Zhou Cheng-Wei Qiu Xue-Hua Wang 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:25

4Mechanism of Kinect-based virtual reality training for motor functional recovery of upper limbs after subacute stroke显示文摘The Kinect-based virtual reality system for the Xbox 360 enables users to control and interact with the game console without the need to touch a game controller,and provides rehabilitation training for stroke patients with lower limb dysfunctions.However,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.In this study,18 healthy subjects and five patients after subacute stroke were included.The five patients were scanned using functional MRI prior to training,3 weeks after training and at a12-week follow-up,and then compared with healthy subjects.The Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Wolf Motor Function Test scores of the hemiplegic upper limbs of stroke patients were significantly increased 3 weeks after training and at the 12-week follow-up.Functional MRI results showed that contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex was activated after Kinect-based virtual reality training in the stroke patients compared with the healthy subjects.Contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex,the bilateral supplementary motor area and the ipsilateral cerebellum were also activated during hand-clenching in all 18 healthy subjects.Our findings indicate that Kinect-based virtual reality training could promote the recovery of upper limb motor function in subacute stroke patients,and brain reorganization by Kinect-based virtual reality training may be linked to the contralateral sensorimotor cortex.Xiao Bao Yurong Mao Qiang Lin Yunhai Qiu Shaozhen Chen Le Li Ryan S.Cates Shufeng Zhou Dongfeng Huang 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,31:15

7Increase of TNFα-stimulated Osteoarthritic Chondrocytes Apoptosis and Decrease of Matrix Metalloproteinases 9 by NF-κB Inhibition显示文摘Objective To investigate the in vitro effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester(CAPE),a NF-κB inhibitor,on the apoptosis of osteoarthritic(OA)chondrocytes and on the regulation of the gelatinases matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP-2)and matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9).Methods Annexin V-FITC/propidium iodide(PI)labeling and western blotting were used to observe and determine the apoptosis in TNFα-stimulated primary cultured osteoarthritic chondrocytes.Also,gelatin zymography was applied to examine MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities in supernatants.Results It was confirmed by both flow cytometry and western blotting that chondrocytes from OA patients have an apoptotic background.Use of CAPE in combination with 10 ng/mL of TNFα for 24 h facilitated the apoptosis.MMP-9 in the supernatant could be autoactivated(from proMMP-9 to active MMP-9),and the physiologic calcium concentration(2.5 mmol/L)could delay the autoactivation of MMP-9.The activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the fresh supernatant increased significantly in response to stimulation by 10 ng/mL of TNFα for 24 h.The stimulatory effect of TNFα just on proMMP-9 was counteracted significantly by CAPE.Conclusion NF-κB could prevent chondrocytes apoptosis though its activation was attributed to the increase of proMMP-9 activity induced by TNFα(a pro-apoptotic factor).Therefore,therapeutic NF-κB inhibitor was a 'double-edged swords' to the apoptosis of chondrocytes and the secretion of MMP-9.WANG Yan LI De Ling ZHANG Xin Bo DUAN Yuan Hui WU Zhi Hong HAO Dong Sheng CHEN Bao Sheng QIU Gui Xing 2013Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2013,26,4:13
8Performance of transient elastography in assessing liver fibrosis in patients with autoimmune hepatitis-primary biliary cholangitis overlap syndrome显示文摘AIM To investigate the performance of transient elastography(TE) for diagnosis of fibrosis in patients with autoimmune hepatitis-primary biliary cholangitis(AIHPBC) overlap syndrome.METHODS A total of 70 patients with biopsy-proven AIH-PBC overlap syndrome were included. Spearman correlation test was used to analyze the correlation of liver stiffness measurement(LSM) and fibrosis stage. Independent samples Student's t-test or one-way analysis of variance was used to compare quantitative variables. Receiver operating characteristics(ROC) curve was used to calculate the optimal cut-off values of LSM for predicting individual fibrosis stages. A comparison on the diagnostic accuracy for severe fibrosis was made between LSM and other serological scores.RESULTS Patients with AIH-PBC overlap syndrome had higher median LSM than healthy controls(11.3 ± 6.4 k Pa vs 4.3 ± 1.4 k Pa, P < 0.01). LSM was significantly correlated with fibrosis stage(r = 0.756, P < 0.01). LSM values increased gradually with an increased fibrosis stage. The areas under the ROC curves of LSM for stages F ≥ 2, F ≥ 3, and F4 were 0.837(95%CI: 0.729-0.914), 0.910(0.817-0.965), and 0.966(0.893-0.995), respectively. The optimal cut-off values of LSM for fibrosis stages F ≥ 2, F ≥ 3, and F4 were 6.55, 10.50, and 14.45 k Pa, respectively. 9Diffraction-limited imaging with monolayer 2D material-based ultrathin flat lenses显示文摘Ultrathin flat optics allow control of light at the subwavelength scale that is unmatched by traditional refractive optics.To approach the atomically thin limit,the use of 2D materials is an attractive possibility due to their high refractive indices.However,achievement of diffraction-limited focusing and imaging is challenged by their thickness-limited spatial resolution and focusing efficiency.Here we report a universal method to transform 2D monolayers into ultrathin flat lenses.Femtosecond laser direct writing was applied to generate local scattering media inside a monolayer,which overcomes the longstanding challenge of obtaining sufficient phase or amplitude modulation in atomically thin 2D materials.We achieved highly efficient 3D focusing with subwavelength resolution and diffractionlimited imaging.The high focusing performance even allows diffraction-limited imaging at different focal positions with varying magnifications.Our work paves the way for downscaling of optical devices using 2D materials and reports an unprecedented approach for fabricating ultrathin imaging devices.Han Lin Zai-Quan Xu Guiyuan Cao Yupeng Zhang Jiadong Zhou Ziyu Wang Zhichen Wan Zheng Liu Kian Ping Loh Cheng-Wei Qiu Qiaoliang Bao Baohua Jia 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:9
10Assessment of health-related quality of life in Chinese patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) based on the Chinese version of SF-36 and Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire (CLDQ) in subjects with chronic hepatitis B,liver cirrhosis,including patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE). METHODS:The SF-36 and CLDQ were administered to 160 healthy volunteers,20 subjects with chronic hepatitis B and 106 patients with cirrhosis (33 cases exhibited MHE). HRQOL scores were compared among the different study groups. The SF-36 includes eight health concepts:physical functioning,role-physical,body pain,general health,vitality,social functioning,role-emotion,and mental health. Six domains of CLDQ were assessed:abdominal symptoms,fatigue,systemic symptoms,activity,emotional function and worry. RESULTS:Compared with healthy controls (96.9 ± 4.5,86.6 ± 18.4,90.1 ± 12.5,89.0 ± 5.7,87.5 ± 4.3,95.8 ± 7.1,88.5 ± 15.9,88.7 ± 5.2 in SF-36 and 6.7 ± 0.5,6.1 ± 0.6,6.3 ± 0.6,6.5 ± 0.5,6.3 ± 0.5,6.8 ± 0.4 in CLDQ),patients with chronic hepatitis B (86.3 ± 11.0,68.8 ± 21.3,78.9 ± 14.4,60.8 ± 10.5,70.8 ± 8.6,76.1 ± 12.6,50.0 ± 22.9,72.2 ± 10.6 and 5.5 ± 1.0,4.5 ± 1.0,5.2 ± 1.1,5.3 ± 0.9,4.8 ± 0.9,4.9 ± 1.0) and cirrhosis (52.8 ± 17.4,32.8 ± 27.9,61.6 ± 18.9,30.2 ± 18.3,47.9 ± 20.1,54.0 ± 19.2,28.9 ± 26.1,51.1 ± 17.8 and 4.7 ± 1.2,3.9 ± 1.2,4.7 ± 1.2,4.7 ± 1.3,4.7 ± 1.0,4.4 ± 1.1) had lower HRQOL on all scales of the SF-36 and CLDQ (P < 0.01 for all). Increasing severity of liver cirrhosis (based on the Child-Pugh score/presence or absence of MHE) was associated with a decrease in most components of SF-36 and CLDQ,especially SF-36.CONCLUSION:The Chinese version of SF-36 along with CLDQ is a valid and reliable method for testing MHE in patients with liver cirrhosis. 12Association between Plasma Metal Levels and Diabetes Risk: a Case-control Study in China显示文摘Objective Many metals, some of which have been classified as environmental endocrine disruptors, are used extensively in everyday consumer products and are ubiquitous in our living environment. In the present study, we aimed to explore the associations between the prevalence risk of type 2 diabetes and plasma levels of 20 trace elements as well as those of heavy metals in a Han Chinese population. Methods We conducted a case-control study to investigate the associations between plasma concentrations of 20 metals and diabetes in Jiangsu province. A total of 122 newly diagnosed cases of type 2 diabetes and 429 matched controls were recruited from community physical examinations in Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province. Plasma metal levels were measured by inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Results After adjusting for confounders, plasma vanadium, chromium, manganese, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, strontium, palladium, cadmium, cesium, and barium were associated with diabetes risk(P < 0.05). The adjusted OR increased with increasing concentration of vanadium, manganese, copper, zinc, and cesium. Conclusion Many metals, including manganese, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, and cadmium in plasma, are associated with the morbidity of diabetes. 14ALUMINUM CONTENT OF TEA LEAVES AND FACTORSAFFECTING THE UPTAKE OF ALUMINUM FROMSOIL INTO TEA LEAVES显示文摘Numerous studies indicated that aluminum, the most abundant metallic element within the lithosphere, was consid- ered to be related to some human diseases especially the Alzheimer’s disease. Tea, economically an important beverage in the world, has been found to contain higher concentration of aluminum than many other drinks and foods. Therefore, tea would be a potentially important source of dietary aluminum. In order to understand the sources of aluminum in tea leaves and factors related with aluminum content of tea leaves, an experiment was designed to investigate the relationships of aluminum in tea leaves with leaf age, soil properties and forms of aluminum in soils. The results showed that there were great distinctions in the concentration of aluminum in tea leaves with different leaf age (Alold leaf>Almature leaf> Alyoung leaf). Moreover, soil pH was the major factor control- ling the uptake of aluminum from soil into tea leaves. 15The biological effect of recombinant humanized collagen on damaged skin induced by UV-photoaging:An in vivo study显示文摘The application of medical devices to repair skin damage is clinically accepted and natural polymer enjoys an important role in this field,such as collagen or hyaluronic acid,etc.However,the biosafety and efficacy of these implants are still challenged.In this study,a skin damage animal model was prepared by UV-photoaging and recombinant humanized type Ⅲ collagen(rhCol Ⅲ)was applied as a bioactive material to implant in vivo to study its biological effect,comparing with saline and uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid(HA).Animal skin conditions were non-invasively and dynamically monitored during the 8 weeks experiment.Histological observation,specific gene expression and other molecular biological methods were applied by the end of the animal experiment.The results indicated that rhCol Ⅲ could alleviate the skin photoaging caused by UV radiation,including reduce the thickening of epidermis and dermis,increase the secretion of Collagen Ⅰ(Col Ⅰ)and Collagen Ⅲ(Col Ⅲ)and remodel of extracellular matrix(ECM).Although the cell-material interaction and mechanism need more investigation,the effect of rhCol Ⅲ on damaged skin was discussed from influence on cells,reconstruction of ECM,and stimulus of small biological molecules based on current results.In conclusion,our findings provided rigorous biosafety information of rhCol Ⅲ and approved its potential in skin repair and regeneration.Although enormous efforts still need to be made to achieve successful translation from bench to clinic,the recombinant humanized collagen showed superiorities from both safety and efficacy aspects.Jing Wang He Qiu Yang Xu Yongli Gao Peijie Tan Rui Zhao Zhanhong Liu Yajun Tang Xiangdong Zhu Chongyun Bao Hang Wang Hai Lin Xingdong Zhang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,5:7
16Recombinant adenovirus-p53(Gendicine) sensitizes a pancreatic carcinoma cell line to radiation显示文摘Objective:In this study,we examine the effects of recombinant adenovirus-p53(rAd-p53)on the pancreatic carcinoma cell line SW1990.Specifically,we determine if expression of rAd-p53 sensitizes these cells to radiation.Methods:Following transfection of SW1990 cells with rAd-p53,we measured expression of P53,P21 and Bax by immunocytochemistry.Both transfected and control cell lines were irradiated with a range of doses,and the survival fractions(SF)were calculated.Dose survival curves were constructed and modeled for comparison.Results:Transfection of SW1990 cells with rAd-p53 resulted in increased expression of P53,P21 and Bax in a time-dependent manner.At 96 h after transfection,89.92%of cells expressed P53,56.8%expressed P21,and 76.50%expressed Bax.The SF following radiation was lower in the rAd-p53 transfected cells compared to the control cells,suggesting that rAd-p53 sensitizes SW1990 cells to radiation(D0for the experimental and control groups was 2.199 and 2.462,respectively).Conclusions:Use of the adenoviral vector is an effective means of transfecting SW1990 cells with wild-type P53,and this sensitizes the cell line to irradiation.This work suggests that combining rAd-p53with radiation therapy in pancreatic cancer may be therapeutically beneficial.Jinluan Li Jianji Pan Xianggao Zhu Ying Su Lingling Bao Sufang Qiu Changyan Zou Yong Cai Junxin Wu Ivan W.K.Tham 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,6:6
17Clinical treatment of myasthenia gravis with deficiency of spleen and kidney based on combination of disease with syndrome theory显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To study the use of Jianjining in the treatment of myasthenia gravis (MG) patients with a deficiency of both spleen and kidney via the theory on the combination of disease with syndrome. METHODS: Sixty MG patients with a deficiency of both spleen and kidney were randomly divided into an treatment group (n=30) treated with Jianjining granules and Western Medicine (prednisone or pyridostigmine bromide) and a control group (n= 30) treated with Jianjining granules. The dosage of the three drugs was reduced over the course of treatment. After 3 and 6 months of treatment, the curative effect was evaluated with the muscle weakness severity scale (MWSS). RESULTS: The MWSS score after treatment declined significantly in both groups. The score in the treatment group was much lower than that in thecontrol group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 63.33% (19/30) in the treatment group and 36.67% (11/30) in the control group after 3 months of treatment, and 80.00% (24/30) and 50.00% (15/30), respectively, after 6 months of treatment. The obvious and total effective rates in the treatment group were much higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After 6 months of treatment, there were no obvious differences (P>0.05) in the obvious and effective rates between the 2 groups. However, the total effective rate in the treatment group was much higher than that in the control group (P<0.01). 18A novel approach to treat combined domestic wastewater and excess sludge in MBR显示文摘Domestic wastewater was treated by combined anaerobic biofilm aerobic membrane bioreactor(MBR) process, and part biomass in MBR was withdrawn to treat with ozone, then the ozonated sludge was returned to anaerobic inlet. In aerobic MBR, MLSS and DO were controlled at 3000—3500 mg/L and 0 8 mg/L respectively. Comparing the experimental results of two stages, it was noticed that ozonation did not affect the removal efficiency for organics but had a significant influence on the removals of NH 3 N and TN.
