| 2 | Identification of mecciRNAs and their roles in the mitochondrial entry of proteins显示文摘Mammalian mitochondria have small genomes encoding very limited numbers of proteins.Over one thousand proteins and noncoding RNAs encoded by the nuclear genome must be imported from the cytosol into the mitochondria.Here,we report the identification of hundreds of circular RNAs(mecciRNAs)encoded by the mitochondrial genome.We provide both in vitro and in vivo evidence to show that mecciRNAs facilitate the mitochondrial entry of nuclear-encoded proteins by serving as molecular chaperones in the folding of imported proteins.Known components involved in mitochondrial protein and RNA importation,such as TOM40 and PNPASE,interact with mecciRNAs and regulate protein entry.The expression of mecciRNAs is regulated,and these transcripts are critical for the adaption of mitochondria to physiological conditions and diseases such as stresses and cancers by modulating mitochondrial protein importation.mecciRNAs and their associated physiological roles add categories and functions to the known eukaryotic circular RNAs and shed novel light on the communication between mitochondria and the nucleus. | Xu Liu Xiaolin Wang Jingxin Li Shanshan Hu Yuqi Deng Hao Yin Xichen Bao Qiangfeng Cliff Zhang Geng Wang Baolong Wang Qinghua Shi Ge Shan | 2020 | Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,10: | 15 |

| 4 | Effect of Ni addition on the glass-forming ability and soft-magnetic properties of FeNiBPNb metallic glasses显示文摘The effect of Ni addition on the glass-forming ability (GFA) and soft-magnetic properties of an (Fe1-xNix)75.5B14.5P7Nb3 (x=0-0.6) alloy system were investigated. We found that the addition of Ni was effective in allowing the alloy to approach a eutectic point as well as increasing the thermal stability of the supercooled liquid. By increasing the amount of Ni,the supercooled liquid region (ΔTx),the reduced glass transition temperature Trg (Tg/Tl) and the Y parameter [Tx/(Tg+Tl)] increased from 49 to 75 K,0.540 to 0.594 and 0.373 to 0.405,respectively. As a result,novel (Fe1-xNix)75.5B14.5P7Nb3 bulk metallic glass (BMG) rods with a maximum diameter of 1 mm were synthesized with a composition of x=0.5 and x=0.6 by copper mold casting. These metallic glasses have a moderate saturation magnetization of 0.37-1.20 T with good soft-magnetic properties,i.e. a low coercivity of 1.4-3.3 A/m and a high effective permeability of 13100-20900 at 1 kHz. | 5 | Can environmental regulation promote industrial innovation and productivity?Based on the strong and weak Porter hypothesis显示文摘This paper constructed extended CDM model to study the effects of environmental regulation on industrial innovation and productivity based on the perspective of strong and weak 'Porter hypothesis',by using 28 manufacturing industry panel data of 2003-2014. The findings reveal that:(1) the impact of environmental regulation on R&D intensity lags behind. In the long run,environmental regulation intensity has a significant role in promoting R&D investment in manufacturing industry.(2) The R&D has a significant role in promoting the substantial innovation of manufacturing industry, and has a strong lag and continuity. However, the R&D intensity has no obvious effect on strategic innovation of manufacturing industry.(3) The substantial innovation doesn't significantly promote the economic performance of manufacturing industry, but it has a significant role in promoting the energy performance of manufacturing industry, and the substantial innovation plays a significant role in promoting environmental performance in the long term. The strategic innovation significantly promotes the economic performance of manufacturing industry, and it inhibits the energy performance and has no significant effect on environmental performance in the short term. It can promote the energy performance of manufacturing industry, but significantly inhibit environmental performance in the long term.(4) Environmental regulation has significantly suppressed the substantive innovation and strategic innovation of manufacturing industry, and the weak Porter hypothesis has not yet been supported. In the short term, environmental regulation inhibits manufacturing economic performance, but it can promote energy and environmental performance. In the long run, environmental regulation promotes the economic and energy performance of manufacturing industry, but it inhibits environmental performance. | 11 | Design and field evaluation of hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine for hybrid rice显示文摘To meet the requirement of the precision direct-seeding for hybrid rice,this study aimed to design a hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine to sow ten rows at a time.A series of orthogonal experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of the cylinder seeder.The influences of the hole diameters,degree of vacuum,and rotational speed of the cylinder were tested on JPS-12 computer-vision seeding test platform,and the rotational speed of 10-50 r/min,diameter of 135 mm and a negative pressure of 1.0-2.0 kPa were employed.Test results showed that the optimal parameter combination was a vacuum of 2.0 kPa and a hole diameter of 2.0 mm(straight hole),with a rotational speed of 30 r/min.The probability of(2±1)seeds in each hole was 95.3%,while the probability of seed-missing hole was 2.0%.A series of field experiments were then conducted to test the seeder performance according to China National Standard Test Methods,and the field test results showed that for the hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine,the probability of(2±1)seeds in each hill was 91.6%,while the probability of seed-missing hill was 2.7%.The yield data showed that the average effective panicle had 231.25 ears,the average seed setting rate was 9.92%,the average 1000-grain weight was 22.45 g,and the average yield was 7107.9 kg/hm^(2) that was 26.14%higher than the average yield of rice(5634.9 kg/hm^(2))of Guangdong Province in 2016.The results showed that the hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine for hybrid rice could be applied in practical precision rice seeding. | Baolong Wang Xiwen Luo Zaiman Wang Le Zheng Minghua Zhang Yizheng Dai He Xing | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 4 |
| 12 | Nonlinear distortion and spatial dispersion of intense terahertz generation in lithium niobate via the tilted pulse front technique显示文摘We systematically investigate the influences of the input infrared spectrum, chirp, and polarization on the emitted intense terahertz spectrum and spatial dispersion in lithium niobate via optical rectification. The terahertz yield and emission spectrum depend on both the chirp and spectrum of the input pump laser pulses. We also observe slight non-uniform spatial dispersion using a knife-edge measurement, which agrees well with the original predictions. | 15 | Hymecromone:a clinical prescription hyaluronan inhibitor for efficiently blocking COVID-19 progression显示文摘Currently,there is no effective drugs for treating clinically COVID-19 except dexamethasone.We previously revealed that human identical sequences of SARS-CoV-2 promote the COVID-19 progression by upregulating hyaluronic acid(HA).As the inhibitor of HA synthesis,hymecromone is an approved prescription drug used for treating biliary spasm.Here,we aimed to investigate the relation between HA and COVID-19,and evaluate the therapeutic effects of hymecromone on COVID-19.Firstly,HA was closely relevant to clinical parameters,including lymphocytes(n=158;r=−0.50;P<0.0001),C-reactive protein(n=156;r=0.55;P<0.0001),D-dimer(n=154;r=0.38;P<0.0001),and fibrinogen(n=152;r=0.37;P<0.0001),as well as the mass(n=78;r=0.43;P<0.0001)and volume(n=78;r=0.41;P=0.0002)of ground-glass opacity,the mass(n=78;r=0.48;P<0.0001)and volume(n=78;r=0.47;P<0.0001)of consolidation in patient with low level of hyaluronan(HA<48.43 ng/mL).Furthermore,hyaluronan could directly cause mouse pulmonary lesions.Besides,hymecromone remarkably reduced HA via downregulating HAS2/HAS3 expression.Moreover,89%patients with hymecromone treatment had pulmonary lesion absorption while only 42%patients in control group had pulmonary lesion absorption(P<0.0001).In addition,lymphocytes recovered more quickly in hymecromone-treated patients(n=8)than control group(n=5)(P<0.05).These findings suggest that hymecromone is a promising drug for COVID-19 and deserves our further efforts to determine its effect in a larger cohort. | Shuai Yang Yun Ling Fang Zhao Wei Li Zhigang Song Lu Wang Qiuting Li Mengxing Liu Ying Tong Lu Chen Daoping Ru Tongsheng Zhang Kaicheng Zhou Baolong Zhang Peng Xu Zhicong Yang Wenxuan Li Yuanlin Song Jianqing Xu Tongyu Zhu Fei Shan Wenqiang Yu Hongzhou Lu | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,4: | 2 |

| 18 | Seismic attenuation in the lower mantle beneath Northeast China constrained from short-period reflected core phases at short epicentral distances显示文摘The thermal structure of the lower mantle plays a key role in understanding the dynamic processes of the Earth's evolution and mantle convection.Because intrinsic attenuation in the lower mantle is highly sensitive to temperature,determining of the attenuation of the lower mantle could help us determine its thermal state.We attempted to constrain the attenuation of the lower mantle by measuring the amplitude ratios of p to ScP on the vertical component and s to ScS on the tangential component at short epicentral distances for seismic wave data from deep earthquakes in Northeast China.We calculated the theoretical amplitude ratios of p to ScP and s to ScS by using ray theory and the axial-symmetric spectral element method AxiSEM,as well as by considering the effects of radiation patterns,geometrical spreading,and ScP reflection coefficients.By comparing the observed amplitude ratios with the synthetic results,we constrained the quality factors as Qα≈3,000 and Qβ≈1,300 in the lower mantle beneath Northeast China,which are much larger than those in the preliminary reference Earth model(PREM)model of Qα~800 and Qβ~312.We propose that the lower mantle beneath Northeast China is relatively colder than the average mantle,resulting in weaker intrinsic attenuation and higher velocity.We estimated the temperature of the lower mantle beneath Northeast China as approximately 300–700 K colder than the global average value. | BaoLong Zhang SiDao Ni YuLin Chen | 2019 | Earth and Planetary Physics2019,3,6: | 2 |
