1Transmission routes of 2019-nCoV and controlsin dental practice显示文摘A novel β-coronavirus(2019-nCoV) caused severe and even fatal pneumonia explored in a seafood market of Wuhan city, Hubei province, China, and rapidly spread to other provinces of China and other countries. The 2019-nCoV was different from SARS-Co V,but shared the same host receptor the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2). The natural host of 2019-nCoV may be the bat Rhinolophus affinis as 2019-nCoV showed 96.2% of whole-genome identity to Bat Co V Ra TG13. The person-to-person transmission routes of 2019-nCoV included direct transmission, such as cough, sneeze, droplet inhalation transmission, and contact transmission, such as the contact with oral, nasal, and eye mucous membranes. 2019-nCoV can also be transmitted through the saliva, and the fecal–oral routes may also be a potential person-to-person transmission route. The participants in dental practice expose to tremendous risk of 2019-nCoV infection due to the face-to-face communication and the exposure to saliva, blood, and other body fluids, and the handling of sharp instruments. Dental professionals play great roles in preventing the transmission of2019-nCoV. 3Chinese Trauma Surgeon Association for management guidelines of vacuum sealing drainage application in abdominal surgeries-Update and systematic review显示文摘Vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) is frequently used in abdominal surgeries. However, relevant guidelines are rare. Chin ese Trauma Surge on Associati on orga nized a committee composed of 28 experts across China in July 2017, aiming to provide an evidence-based recommendation for the application of VSD in abdominal surgeries.Eleven questions regarding the use of VSD in abdominal surgeries were addressed:(1) which type of materials should be respectively chosen for the intraperitoneal cavity, retroperitoneal cavity and superficial incisions?(2) Can VSD be preventively used for a high-risk abdominal incision w让h primary suture?(3) Can VSD be used in severely contaminated/infected abdominal surgical sites?(4) Can VSD be used for temporary abdominal cavity closure under some special conditions such as severe abdominal trauma, infection, liver transplantation and intra-abdominal volume increment in abdominal compartment syndrome?(5) Can VSD be used in abdominal organ inflammation, injury, or postoperative drainage?(6) Can VSD be used in the treatment of intestinal fistula and pancreatic fistula?(7) Can VSD be used in the treatment of intra-abdominal and extra-peritoneal abscess?(8) Can VSD be used in the treatment of abdominal wall wounds, wound cavity, and defects?(9) Does VSD in crease the risk of bleeding?(10) Does VSD increase the risk of intestinal wail injury?(11) Does VSD increase the risk of peritoneal adhesion? Focusing on these questions, evidence-based recommendations were given accordingly. VSD was strongly recommended regarding the questions 2-4. Weak recommendations were made regarding questions 1 and 5-11. 5Complement C3 activation regulates the production of tRNA-derived fragments Gly-tRFs and promotes alcohol-induced liver injury and steatosis显示文摘Complement is known to play a role in alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD), but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood, thereby constraining the development of a rational approach for therapeutic intervention in the complement system. C3 deficiency has been shown to impart protective effects against ethanol-induced hepatic steatosis and inflammation. Here we demonstrate a protection effect in wild-type mice by treatment with CR2-Crry, a specific inhibitor of C3 activation. The expression of glycine transfer (t) RNA-derived fragments (Gly-tRFs) is upregulated in ethanol-fed mice and inhibition of Gly-tRFs in vivo decreases chronic ethanol feeding-induced hepatosteatosis without affecting inflammation. The expression of Gly-tRF was downregulated in C3-deficient or CR2-Crry-treated mice, but not in C5-deficient mice;Gly-tRF expression was restored by the C3 activation products C3a or Asp (C3a-des-Arg) via the regulation of CYP2E1. Transcriptome profiling of hepatic tissues showed that Gly-tRF inhibitors upregulate the expression of sirtuin1 (Sirt1) and subsequently affect downstream lipogenesis and β-oxidation pathways. Mechanistically, Gly-tRF interacts with AGO3 to downregulate Sirt1 expression via sequence complementarity in the 3′ UTR. Notably, the expression levels of C3d, CYP2E1 and Gly-tRF are upregulated, whereas Sirt1 is decreased in AFLD patients compared to healthy controls. Collectively, our findings suggest that C3 activation products contribute to hepatosteatosis by regulating the expression of Gly-tRF. 7Oral microbiota in human systematic diseases显示文摘Oral bacteria directly affect the disease status of dental caries and periodontal diseases. The dynamic oral microbiota cooperates with the host to reflect the information and status of immunity and metabolism through two-way communication along the oral cavity and the systemic organs. The oral cavity is one of the most important interaction windows between the human body and the environment.The microenvironment at different sites in the oral cavity has different microbial compositions and is regulated by complex signaling,hosts, and external environmental factors. These processes may affect or reflect human health because certain health states seem to be related to the composition of oral bacteria, and the destruction of the microbial community is related to systemic diseases. In this review, we discussed emerging and exciting evidence of complex and important connections between the oral microbes and multiple human systemic diseases, and the possible contribution of the oral microorganisms to systemic diseases. This review aims to enhance the interest to oral microbes on the whole human body, and also improve clinician’s understanding of the role of oral microbes in systemic diseases. 8Large aperture N31 neodymium phosphate laser glass for use in a high power laser facility显示文摘Large aperture Nd:phosphate laser glass is a key optical element for an inertial confinement fusion(ICF) facility. N31,one type of neodymium doped phosphate glasses, was developed for high peak power laser facility applications in China. The composition and main properties of N31 glass are given, together with those of LHG-8, LG-770, and KGSS-0180 Nd:phosphate laser glasses, from Hoya and Schott, and from Russia. The technologies of pot melting, continuous melting, and edge cladding of large size N31 phosphate laser glass are briefly described. The small signal gain profiles of N31 glass slabs from both pot melting and continuous melting at various values of the pumping energy of the xenon lamp are presented. 9Oral bacteria colonize and compete with gut microbiota in gnotobiotic mice显示文摘The oral microbiota is associated with oral diseases and digestive systemic diseases.Nevertheless,the causal relationship between them has not been completely elucidated,and colonisation of the gut by oral bacteria is not clear due to the limitations of existing research models.The aim of this study was to develop a human oral microbiota-associated (HOMA) mouse model and to investigate the ecological invasion into the gut.By transplanting human saliva into germ-free (GF) mice,a HOMA mouse model was first constructed.16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to reveal the biogeography of oral bacteria along the cephalocaudal axis of the digestive tract.In the HOMA mice,84.78% of the detected genus-level taxa were specific to the donor.Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the donor oral microbiota clustered with those of the HOMA mice and were distinct from those of specific pathogen-free (SPF) mice.In HOMA mice,OTU counts decreased from the stomach and small intestine to the distal gut.The distal gut was dominated by Streptococcus,Veillonella,Haemophilus,Fusobacterium,Trichococcus and Actinomyces.HOMA mice and human microbiota-associated (HMA) mice along with the GF mice were then cohoused.Microbial communities of cohoused mice clustered together and were significantly separated from those of HOMA mice and HMA mice.The Source Tracker analysis and network analysis revealed more significant ecological invasion from oral bacteria in the small intestines,compared to the distal gut,of cohoused mice.In conclusion,a HOMA mouse model was successfully established.By overcoming the physical and microbial barrier,oral bacteria colonised the gut and profiled the gut microbiota,especially in the small intestine.Bolei Li Yang Ge Lei Cheng Benhua Zeng Jinzhao Yu Xian Peng Jianhua Zhao Wenxia Li Biao Ren Mingyun Li Hong Wei Xuedong Zhou 2019International Journal of Oral Science2019,11,3:7
10High levels of circulating GM-CSF^(+) CD4^(+) T cells are predictive of poor outcomes in sepsis patients: a prospective cohort study显示文摘Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(GM-CSF),produced by CD4^(+)T cells,has recently been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases,such as multiple sclerosis and juvenile arthritis.However,the role of GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells in sepsis remains unknown.This study reports peripheral changes in GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells in septic patients and the possible underlying mechanism by which GM-CSF influences the outcome of sepsis.Forty-three septic patients,20 SIRS patients,and 20 healthy controls were enrolled in this study and followed for 28 days to assess mortality.We measured the peripheral frequency of GM-CSF^(+)CD4^(+)T cells and recorded their associated relationship with disease progression.Our data demonstrated that peripheral GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells were significantly higher in septic patients than in both SIRS patients and healthy controls.These cells exhibit a memory phenotype and impaired IFN-γ-secreting capacity in sepsis patients.Using a receiver operating curve analysis with 8.01%as a cut-off point,the percentage of GM-CSF^(+)CD4^(+)T cells could predict the outcome of septic patients.Combined with the increase in GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells,inflammatory cytokines IL-1βand IL-6 were also upregulated.Using an in vitro neutrophil model,we found that GM-CSF inhibited C3aR expression,while inducing IL-8 production.Furthermore,this effect was transferrable in plasma from sepsis patients and was attenuated by inhibition of GM-CSF using an anti-GM-CSF antibody.These results indicate that GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells may serve as a marker of sepsis severity.Thus,targeting GM-CSF overproduction may benefit sepsis patients.Huihuang Huang Siyu Wang Tianjun Jiang Rong Fan Zheng Zhang Jinsong Mu Ke Li Yonggang Wang Lei Jin Fang Lin Jie Xia Lijian Sun Biao Xu Chengcheng Ji Jing Chen Juan Chang Bo Tu Bing Song Chao Zhang Fu-Sheng Wang Ruonan Xu 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,6:6

13Protective effect of Chushizi(Fructus Broussonetiae)on acetaminophen-induced rat hepatitis by inhibiting the Toll-like receptor 3/c-Jun N-terminal kinase/c-jun/c-fos/janus protein tyrosine kinase/activators of transcription 3 pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the intervention of Chushizi(Fructus Broussonetiae)(CSZ)on drug-induced liver injury(DILI)in rats,as well as indicators of liver function,serum levels of inflammatory cytokines,and expression of proteins and m RNA associated with toll-like receptor 3(TLR3)and the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)pathway in the liver[TLR3,janus protein tyrosine kinase 2(JAK2),c-jun,c-fos,c-Jun N-terminal kinase 2(JNK2),and STAT3].METHODS:Forty specified pathogen free grade Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the control group,the model group,the silybin group and the CSZ group.Rats were given acetaminophen(APAP)to trigger DILI.Histopathology of the liver was observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining.The levels of alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate transaminase(AST),direct bilirubin(DBIL),and total bilirubin(TBIL)in serum were detected by a semi-automatic biochemical instrument.Content of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α),interleukin(IL)-6,IL-13,and IL-22 in serum were detected by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,the expression of TLR3,phosphorylation of JAK2(p-JAK2),while c-jun and c-fos proteins in the liver were determined by immunohistochemistry;expression of JNK2,and STAT3 in the liver were assayed by Western blot and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.P-JNK2 and p-STAT3 in the liver were assayed by Western blot.RESULTS:After treatment,the activity of ALT,AST,and concentrations of TBIL,DBIL,TNF-α,IL-6,as well as IL-13 in serum,were lower than those in the model group,and expression of p-JAK2,TLR3,c-jun,c-fos,p-STAT3,and p-JNK2 could be downregulated.CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that CSZ is a valid medicine to alleviate APAP-induced DILI,while its partial mechanism may regulate the TLR3/JNK/c-jun/c-fos/JAK/STAT3 pathway.Zhang Yandong Biao Yaning Chu Xinqiao Hao Lei Shi Cheng Liu Yu Zhang Yixin Wang Xi 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6:4
14Complements are involved in alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis and fibrosis显示文摘The complement system is a key component of the body's immune system. When abnormally activated, this system can induce inflammation and damage to normal tissues and participate in the development and progression of a variety of diseases. In the past, many scholars believed that alcoholic liver disease(ALD) is induced by the stress of ethanol on liver cells, including oxidative stress and dysfunction of mitochondria and protease bodies, causing hepatocyte injury and apoptosis. Recent studies have shown that complement activation is also involved in the genesis and development of ALD. This review focuses on the roles of complement activation in ALD and of therapeutic intervention in complement-activation pathways. 15Altered spontaneous brain activity patterns in patients with diabetic retinopathy using amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation显示文摘BACKGROUND Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by prolonged elevation of blood glucose due to various causes.Currently,the relationship between diabetic retinopathy(DR)and altered connectivity of brain function is unclear.AIM To investigate the relationship between this brain activity and clinical manifestations and behaviors of DR patients by using the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation(ALFF)technique.METHODS Twenty-four DR patients and 24 healthy controls(HCs)matched for age and gender were enrolled.We measured and recorded average ALFF values of DR patients and HCs and then classified them using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.RESULTS ALFF values of both left and right posterior cerebellar lobe and right anterior cingulate gyrus were remarkably higher in the DR patients than in the HCs;however,DR patients had lower values in the bilateral calcarine area.ROC curve analysis of different brain regions demonstrated high accuracy in the area under the curve analysis.There was no significant relationship between mean ALFF values for different regions and clinical presentations in DR patients.Neuronal synchronization abnormalities in some brain regions of DR patients were associated with cognitive and visual disorders.CONCLUSION Abnormal spontaneous brain activity was observed in many areas of DR patients’brains,which may suggest a possible link between clinical manifestations and behaviors in DR patients.Wen-Qing Shi Mou-Xin Zhang Li-Ying Tang Lei Ye Yu-Qing Zhang Qi Lin Biao Li Yi Shao Yao Yu 2022World Journal of Diabetes2022,13,2:4
16Effects of gradient high-field static magnetic fields on diabetic mice显示文摘Although 9.4 T magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) has been tested in healthy volunteers,its safety in diabetic patients is unclear.Furthermore,the effects of high static magnetic fields(SMFs),especially gradient vs.uniform fields,have not been investigated in diabetics.Here,we investigated the consequences of exposure to 1.0-9.4 T high SMFs of different gradients(>10 T/m vs.0-10 T/m)on type 1 diabetic(T1D) and type 2 diabetic(T2D) mice.We found that 14 h of prolonged treatment of gradient(as high as 55.5 T/m) high SMFs(1.0-8.6 T) had negative effects on T1D and T2D mice,including spleen,hepatic,and renal tissue impairment and elevated glycosylated serum protein,blood glucose,inflammation,and anxiety,while 9.4 T quasi-uniform SMFs at 0-10 T/m did not induce the same effects.In regular T1D mice(blood glucose>16.7 mmol/L),the>10 T/m gradient high SMFs increased malondialdehyde(P<0.01) and decreased superoxide dismutase(P<0.05).However,in the severe T1D mice(blood glucose≥30.0 mmol/L),the>10 T/m gradient high SMFs significantly increased tissue damage and reduced survival rate.In vitro cellular studies showed that gradient high SMFs increased cellular reactive oxygen species and apoptosis and reduced MS-1 cell number and proliferation.Therefore,this study showed that prolonged exposure to high-field(1.0-8.6 T)>10 T/m gradient SMFs(35-1 380 times higher than that of current clinical MRI)can have negative effects on diabetic mice,especially mice with severe T1D,whereas 9.4 T high SMFs at 0-10T/m did not produce the same effects,providing important information for the future development and clinical application of SMFs,especially high-field MRI.Biao Yu Chao Song Chuan-Lin Feng Jing Zhang Ying Wang Yi-Ming Zhu Lei Zhang Xin-Miao Ji Xiao-Fei Tian Guo-Feng Cheng Wei-Li Chen Vitalii Zablotskii Hua Wang Xin Zhang 2023Zoological Research2023,44,2:3
17Electrodeposition of functionally graded Ni-W/Er2O3 rare earth nanoparticle composite film显示文摘Multi-layered functionally graded(FG)structure Ni-W/Er2O3 nanocomposite films were prepared by continuously changing the deposition parameters,in which the Er2O3 and W contents varied with thickness.The microstructure and chemical composition of the electrodeposited Ni-W/Er2O3 films were determined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).The anti-corrosion and wear properties of the electrodeposition films were investigated by electrochemical measurement and ball-on-disk friction test.The microhardness distribution of the cross section of nanocomposites was measured by nanoindentation.The results showed that with decreasing agitation rate or increasing average current density,the contents of Er2O3 nanoparticles and tungsten were distributed in a gradient along the thickness,and the contents on the surface were larger.By comparison,FG Ni-W/Er2O3 films had better anti-corrosion and wear properties than the uniform Ni-W/Er2O3 films.Atomic force microscopy(AFM)and profilometry measurements indicated that Er2O3 nanoparticles had an effect on the surface roughness.Guo-quan Lai Hong-zhong Liu Bang-dao Chen Dong Niu Biao Lei Wei-tao Jiang 2020International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2020,27,6:3
18Growth of magnetic metals on carbon microspheres with synergetic dissipation abilities to broaden microwave absorption显示文摘Microwave absorption(MA) materials have been captured extensive attentions due to the serious electromagnetic(EM) pollution. Numerous interests focus on the MA performances of core-shell structural composites with magnetic constituents as cores and dielectric constituents as shells, which inevitably suppressed the magnetic coupling causing the decrease of magnetic loss to some extent. Herein, the coreshell structural carbon(C) microsphere/magnetic metal composites were fabricated through the combination of an electrostatic assembly approach and subsequent in-situ reduction reaction. The complex permittivity and permeability of core-shell C@magnetic metal composite system can be effective adjusted by the constituent and microstructure of shells. Thanks to the distinct magnetic coupling from the subtle designed structures and the promotion of the magnetic-dielectric synergy, the C@magnetic metal composite exhibited enhanced MA properties. The optimal reflection loss(RL) of C@Ni composite was-54.1 dB with a thickness of 3.4 mm, meanwhile the effective absorbing band could reach over 5.5 GHz at only a1.8 mm thickness. Broad absorption bandwidth with RL below-10 d B could achieve 6.0 GHz and 6.7 GHz for C@Co and C@Ni Co composites with a thin 2.1 mm thickness, respectively.
