Human avian influenza A (H5N1) virus infection in China显示文摘Highly pathogenic influenza A (H5N1) virus causes a widespread poultry deaths worldwide. The first human H5N1 infected case was reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China in 1997. Since then, the virus re-emerged in 2003 and continues to infect people worldwide. Currently, over 400 human infections have been reported in more than 15 countries and mortality rate is greater than 60%. H5N1 viruses still pose a potential pandemic threat in the future because of the continuing global spread and evolution. Here, we summarize the epidemiological, clinical and virological characteristics of human H5N1 infection in China monitored and identified by our national surveillance systems.XU CuiLin, DONG LiBo, XIN Li, LAN Yu, CHEN YongKun, YANG LiMei & SHU YueLong State Key Laboratory for Viral Genetic and Engineering, National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), Beijing 100052, China 2009Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,5:14
Investigation and assessment of micropollutants and associated biological effects in wastewater treatment processes显示文摘Currently, the wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)attempt to achieve the shifting from general pollution parameters control to reduction of organic micropollutants discharge. However, they have not been able to satisfy the increasing ecological safety needs. In this study, the removal of micropollutants was investigated, and the ecological safety was assessed for a local WWTP.Although the total concentration of 31 micropollutants detected was reduced by 83%using the traditional biological treatment processes, the results did not reflect chemicals that had poor removal efficiencies and low concentrations.Of the five categories of micropollutants, herbicides, insecticides, and bactericides were difficult to remove, pharmaceuticals and UV filters were effectively eliminated. The specific photosynthesis inhibition effect and non-specific bioluminescence inhibition effect from wastewater were detected and evaluated using hazardous concentration where 5%of aquatic organisms are affected. The photosynthesis inhibition effect from wastewater in the WWTP was negligible, even the untreated raw wastewater. However, the bioluminescence inhibition effect from wastewater which was defined as the priority biological effect, posed potential ecological risk.To decrease non-specific biological effects, especially of macromolecular dissolved organic matter, overall pollutant reduction strategy is necessary.Meanwhile, the ozonation process was used to further decrease the bioluminescence inhibition effects from the secondary effluent;≥0.34 g O 3/g DOC of ozone dose was recommended for micropollutants elimination control and ecological safety.Xiaoyan Y.Ma Ke Dong Lei Tang Yongkun Wang Xiaochang C.Wang Huu Hao Ngo Rong Chen Na Wang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,8:3
Protective mechanisms of Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb in dextran sodium sulfate-induced colitis as determined by a network pharmacology approach显示文摘Previous studies reported that Agrimonia pilosa (AP) Ledeb possessed diverse biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-tumor activities. However, the effect of AP on ulcerative colitis (UC) remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effect and mechanisms of AP on dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. The potential constituents of AP were investigated by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS). A total of 13 compounds were recognized by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS chromatogram. Furthermore, a network pharmacology approach revealed that there are 297 candidate targets of UC and 549 common targets for the 13 active ingredients of AP. GO enrichment and KEGG pathway analysis indicated that AP might have a protective effect on UC through the nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) and nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor signaling pathways. Subsequent experimental validation in a DSS-induced colitis model revealed that AP alleviated the severity of DSS-induced colitis, reduced the production of proinflammatory factors, and protected against the loss of intestinal integrity. Moreover, AP inhibited the phosphorylation of NF-κB p65 and the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. In conclusion, AP ameliorated DSS-induced colitis through suppressing the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and NF-κB signaling pathways.Chen Li Meng Wang Junkang Sui Yongkun Zhou Wei Chen 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,10:3
Progress in octahedral spherical hohlraum study显示文摘In this paper,we give a review of our theoretical and experimental progress in octahedral spherical hohlraum study. From our theoretical study, the octahedral spherical hohlraums with 6 Laser Entrance Holes(LEHs)of octahedral symmetry have robust high symmetry during the capsule implosion at hohlraum-to-capsule radius ratio larger than 3.7.In addition, the octahedral spherical hohlraums also have potential superiority on low backscattering without supplementary technology. We studied the laser arrangement and constraints of the octahedral spherical hohlraums, and gave a design on the laser arrangement for ignition octahedral hohlraums. As a result, the injection angle of laser beams of 50°-60°was proposed as the optimum candidate range for the octahedral spherical hohlraums. We proposed a novel octahedral spherical hohlraum with cylindrical LEHs and LEH shields,in order to increase the laser coupling efficiency and improve the capsule symmetry and to mitigate the influence of the wall blowoff on laser transport. We studied on the sensitivity of the octahedral spherical hohlraums to random errors and compared the sensitivity among the octahedral spherical hohlraums, the rugby hohlraums and the cylindrical hohlraums, and the results show that the octahedral spherical hohlraums are robust to these random errors while the cylindrical hohlraums are the most sensitive.Up till to now,we have carried out three experiments on the spherical hohlraum with 2 LEHs on Shenguang(SG)laser facilities, including demonstration of improving laser transport by using the cylindrical LEHs in the spherical hohlraums, spherical hohlraum energetics on the SGIII prototype laser facility, and comparisons of laser plasma instabilities between the spherical hohlraums and the cylindrical hohlraums on the SGIII laser facility.Ke Lan Jie Liu Zhichao Li Xufei Xie Wenyi Huo Yaohua Chen Guoli Ren Chunyang Zheng Dong Yang Sanwei Li Zhiwen Yang Liang Guo Shu Li Mingyu Zhang Xiaoying Han Chuanlei Zhai Lifei Hou Yukun Li Keli Deng Zheng Yuan Xiayu Zhan Feng Wang Guanghui Yuan Haijun Zhang Bobin Jiang Lizhen Huang Wei Zhang Kai Du Runchang Zhao Ping Li Wei Wang Jingqin Su Xuewei Deng Dongxia Hu Wei Zhou Huaiting Jia Yongkun Ding Wanguo Zheng Xiantu He 2016Matter and Radiation at Extremes2016,1,1:2

The S190R mutation in the hemagglutinin protein of pandemic H1N1 2009 influenza virus increased its pathogenicity in mice显示文摘Human influenza viruses preferentially bind to sialic acid-α2,6-galactose (SAα2,6Gal) receptors, which are predominant in human upper respiratory epithelia, whereas avian influenza viruses preferentially bind to SAα2,3Gal receptors. However, variants with amino acid substitutions around the receptor-binding sites of the hemagglutinin (HA) protein can be selected after several passages of human influenza viruses from patients’ respiratory samples in the allantoic cavities of embryonated chicken eggs. In this study, we detected an egg-adapted HA S190R mutation in the pandemic H1N1 virus 2009 (pdmH1N1), and evaluated the effects of this mutation on receptor binding affinity and pathogenicity in mice. Our results revealed that residue 190 is located within the pocket structure of the receptor binding site. The single mutation to arginine at position 190 slightly increased the binding affinity of the virus to the avian receptor and decreased its binding to the long human α2,6-linked sialic acid receptor. Our study demonstrated that the S190R mutation resulted in earlier death and higher weight loss in mice compared with the wild-type virus. Higher viral titers at 1 dpi (days post infection) and diffuse damage at 4 dpi were observed in the lung tissues of mice infected with the mutant virus.Yongkun Chen Tian Bai Wenfei Zhu Rongbao Gao Zhihong Deng Yi Shi Shumei Zou Yiwei Huang Xiyan Li Fangcai Li Zhaomin Feng Tao Chen Jing Yang Dayan Wang Lidong Gao Yuelong Shu 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,7:1

Lensless complex amplitude demodulation based on deep learning in holographic data storage显示文摘To increase the storage capacity in holographic data storage(HDS),the information to be stored is encoded into a complex amplitude.Fast and accurate retrieval of amplitude and phase from the reconstructed beam is necessary during data readout in HDS.In this study,we proposed a complex amplitude demodulation method based on deep learning from a single-shot diffraction intensity image and verified it by a non-interferometric lensless experiment demodulating four-level amplitude and four-level phase.By analyzing the correlation between the diffraction intensity features and the amplitude and phase encoding data pages, the inverse problem was decomposed into two backward operators denoted by two convolutional neural networks(CNNs)to demodulate amplitude and phase respectively. The experimental system is simple, stable, and robust, and it only needs a single diffraction image to realize the direct demodulation of both amplitude and phase. To our investigation, this is the first time in HDS that multilevel complex amplitude demodulation is achieved experimentally from one diffraction intensity image without iterations.Jianying Hao Xiao Lin Yongkun Lin Mingyong Chen Ruixian Chen Guohai Situ Hideyoshi Horimai Xiaodi Tan 2023Opto-Electronic Advances2023,6,3:1

Anomalous-plasmoid-ejection-induced secondary magnetic reconnection: modeling solar flares and coronal mass ejections by laser–plasma experiments显示文摘The driving mechanism of solar flares and coronal mass ejections is a topic of ongoing debate, apart from the consensus that magnetic reconnection plays a key role during the impulsive process. While present solar research mostly depends on observations and theoretical models, laboratory experiments based on high-energy density facilities provide the third method for quantitatively comparing astrophysical observations and models with data achieved in experimental settings. In this article, we show laboratory modeling of solar flares and coronal mass ejections by constructing the magnetic reconnection system with two mutually approaching laser-produced plasmas circumfused of self-generated megagauss magnetic fields. Due to the Euler similarity between the laboratory and solar plasma systems, the present experiments demonstrate the morphological reproduction of flares and coronal mass ejections in solar observations in a scaled sense, and confirm the theory and model predictions about the current-sheet-born anomalous plasmoid as the initial stage of coronal mass ejections, and the behavior of moving-away plasmoid stretching the primary reconnected field lines into a secondary current sheet conjoined with two bright ridges identified as solar flares.Quanli Dong Dawei Yuan Shoujun Wang Xun Liu Yutong Li Xiaoxuan Lin Huigang Wei Jiayong Zhong Shaoen Jiang Yongkun Ding Bobin Jiang Kai Du Yongjian Tang Mingyang Yu Xiantu He Neng Hua Zhanfeng Qiao Kuixi Huang Ming Chen Jianqiang Zhu Gang Zhao Zhengming Sheng Jie Zhang 2013High Power Laser Science and Engineering2013,1,1:0
Progress in optical Thomson scattering diagnostics for ICF gas-filled hohlraums显示文摘Optical Thomson scattering(OTS)diagnostics have been continuously developed on a series of large laser facilities for inertial confinement fusion(ICF)research in China. We review recent progress in the use of OTS diagnostics to study the internal plasma conditions of ICF gas-filled hohlraums. We establish the predictive capability for experiments by calculating the time-resolved Thomson scattering spectra based on the 2D radiation-hydrodynamic code LARED,and we explore the fitting method for the measured spectra.A typical experiment with a simplified cylindrical hohlraum is conducted on a 10 kJ-level laser facility, and the plasma evolution around the laser entrance hole is analyzed. The dynamic effects of the blast wave from the covering membrane and the convergence of shocks on the hohlraum axis are observed, and the experimental results agree well with those of simulations.Another typical experiment with an octahedral spherical hohlraum is conducted on a 100 kJ-level laser facility, and the plasma evolution at the hohlraum center is analyzed.A discrepancy appears between experiment and simulation as the electron temperature rises, indicating the occurrence of nonlocal thermal conduction.Hang Zhao Zhichao Li Dong Yang Xin Li Yaohua Chen Xiaohua Jiang Yonggang Liu Tao Gong Liang Guo Sanwei Li Qi Li Feng Wang Shenye Liu Jiamin Yang Shaoen Jiang Wanguo Zheng Baohan Zhang Yongkun Ding 2019Matter and Radiation at Extremes2019,4,5:0
First experimental comparisons of laser-plasma interactions between spherical and cylindrical hohlraums at SGⅢ laser facility显示文摘We present our recent laser-plasmas instability(LPI)comparison experiment at the SGIII laser facility between the spherical and cylindrical hohlraums.Three kinds of filling are considered:vacuum,gas-filling with or without a capsule inside.A spherical hohlraum of 3.6 mm in diameter, and a cylindrical hohlraum of 2.4 mm?4.3 mm are used. The capsule diameter is 0.96 mm.A flat-top laser pulse with 3 ns duration and up to 92.73 kJ energy is used. The experiment has shown that the LPI level in the spherical hohlraum is close to that of the outer beam in the cylindrical hohlraum, while much lower than that of the inner beam. The experiment is further simulated by using our 2-dimensional radiation hydrodynamic code LARED-Integration,and the laser back-scattering fraction and the stimulated Raman scatter(SRS)spectrum are post-processed by the high efficiency code of laser interaction with plasmas HLIP.According to the simulation, the plasma waves are strongly damped and the SRS is mainly developed at the plasma conditions of electron density from 0.08 n_(c) to 0.1 n_(c) and electron temperature from 1.5 keV to 2.0 keV inside the hohlraums. However, obvious differences between the simulation and experiment are found, such as that the SRS back-scattering is underestimated, and the numerical SRS spectrum peaks at a larger wavelength and at a later time than the data. These dif-ferences indicate that the development of a 3D radiation hydrodynamic code, with more accurate physics models,is mandatory for spherical hohlraum study.Yaohua Chen Zhichao Li Xufei Xie Chunyang Zheng Chuanlei Zhai Liang Hao Dong Yang Wenyi Huo Guoli Ren Jie Liu Xiaoshi Peng Tao Xu Yulong Li Sanwei Li Zhiwen Yang Liang Guo Lifei Hou Yonggang Liu Huiyue Wei Xiangming Liu Weiyi Cha Yukun Li Keli Deng Zheng Yuan Xiayu Zhan Haijun Zhang Baibin Jiang Wei Zhang Kai Du Xuewei Deng Yongkun Ding Xiaofeng Wei Wanguo Zheng Xiaodong Chen Xiantu He Ke Lan 2017Matter and Radiation at Extremes2017,2,2:0
Laboratory study of astrophysical collisionless shock at SG-Ⅱ laser facility显示文摘Astrophysical collisionless shocks are amazing phenomena in space and astrophysical plasmas, where supersonic flows generate electromagnetic fields through instabilities and particles can be accelerated to high energy cosmic rays. Until now, understanding these micro-processes is still a challenge despite rich astrophysical observation data have been obtained. Laboratory astrophysics, a new route to study the astrophysics, allows us to investigate them at similar extreme physical conditions in laboratory. Here we will review the recent progress of the collisionless shock experiments performed at SG-Ⅱ laser facility in China. The evolution of the electrostatic shocks and Weibel-type/filamentation instabilities are observed. Inspired by the configurations of the counter-streaming plasma flows, we also carry out a novel plasma collider to generate energetic neutrons relevant to the astrophysical nuclear reactions.Dawei Yuan Huigang Wei Guiyun Liang Feilu Wang Yutong Li Zhe Zhang Baojun Zhu Jiarui Zhao Weiman Jiang Bo Han Xiaoxia Yuan Jiayong Zhong Xiaohui Yuan Changbo Fu Xiaopeng Zhang Chen Wang Guo Jia Jun Xiong Zhiheng Fang Shaoen Jiang Kai Du Yongkun Ding Neng Hua Zhanfeng Qiao Shenlei Zhou Baoqiang Zhu Jianqiang Zhu Gang Zhao Jie Zhang 2018High Power Laser Science and Engineering2018,6,3:0
Isogenic human pluripotent stem cell disease models reveal ABRA deficiency underlies cTnT mutation-induced familial dilated cardiomyopathy显示文摘Dear Editor,Dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM)is a common form of inherited cardiomyopathy. In the past decades, single mutations in various genes encoding sarcomeric, cytoskeletal, and channel proteins etc.have been found to be associated with DCM(Hershberger et al.,2013;McNally and Mestroni,2017).However,the mechanisms how single mutations in sarcomeric or structural genes lead to the disease remain elusive. An interesting phenomenon often seen in familial cardiomyopathy is that different single mutations on the same gene can cause either DCM or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM)(Kathiresan and Srivastava,2012),which exhibit almost opposite disease phenotypes.DCM is characterized by thinned myocardium and septum, ventricular chamber dilation, and systolic dysfunction(Jefferies and Towbin,2010;McNally and Mestroni,2017),while HCM exhibits thickened myocardium and septum, reduced ventricular chamber, and diastolic dysfunction(Richard et al.,2003).At the cellular level,HCM cardiomyocytes exhibit concentric hypertrophy characterized by assembly of myofilaments in parallel and widening of the myocytes. In contrast,DCM cardiomyocytes show eccentric hypertrophy, with assembly of the myofilaments in series and myocyte elongation(Kehat and Molkentin,2010).Bin Li Yongkun Zhan Qianqian Liang Chen Xu Xinyan Zhou Huanhuan Cai Yufan Zheng Yifan Guo Lei Wang Wenqing Qiu Baiping Cui Chao Lu Ruizhe Qian Ping Zhou Haiyan Chen Yun Liu Sifeng Chen Xiaobo Li Ning Sun 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,1:0
