| 1 | Global leaf nitrogen and phosphorus stoichiometry and their scaling exponent显示文摘Leaf nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) concentrations constrain photosynthetic and metabolic processes,growth and the productivity of plants. Their stoichiometry and scaling relationships regulate the allocation of N and P from subcellular to organism, and even ecosystem levels, and are crucial to the modelling of plant growth and nutrient cycles in terrestrial ecosystems. Prior work has revealed a general biogeographic pattern of leaf N and P stoichiometric relationships and shown that leaf N scales roughly as two-thirds the power of P. However, determining whether and how leaf N and P stoichiometries, especially their scaling exponents, change with functional groups and environmental conditions requires further verification. In this study, we compiled a global data set and documented the global leaf N and P concentrations and the N:P ratios by functional group, climate zone and continent. The global overall mean leaf N and P concentrations were 18.9 mg g^(-1) and 1.2 mg g^(-1), respectively, with significantly higher concentrations in herbaceous than woody plants(21.72 mg g^(-1) vs. 18.22 mg g^(-1) for N; and 1.64 mg g^(-1) vs. 1.10 mg g^(-1) for P). Both leaf N and P showed higher concentrations at high latitudes than low latitudes. Among six continents, Europe had the highest N and P concentrations(20.79 and 1.54 mg g^(-1)) and Oceania had the smallest values(10.01 and 0.46 mg g^(-1)). These numerical values may be used as a basis for the comparison of other individual studies. Further, we found that the scaling exponent varied significantly across different functional groups,latitudinal zones, ecoregions and sites. The exponents of herbaceous and woody plants were 0.659 and0.705, respectively, with significant latitudinal patterns decreasing from tropical to temperate to boreal zones. | 2 | Family-level leaf nitrogen and phosphorus stoichiometry of global terrestrial plants显示文摘Leaf nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) concentrations are critical for photosynthesis, growth, reproduction and other ecological processes of plants. Previous studies on large-scale biogeographic patterns of leaf N and P stoichiometric relationships were mostly conducted using data pooled across taxa, while family/genus-level analyses are rarely reported. Here, we examined global patterns of family-specific leaf N and P stoichiometry using a global data set of 12,716 paired leaf N and P records which includes 204 families, 1,305 genera, and 3,420 species. After determining the minimum size of samples(i.e., 35 records), we analyzed leaf N and P concentrations, N:P ratios and N^P scaling relationships of plants for 62 families with 11,440 records. The numeric values of leaf N and P stoichiometry varied significantly across families and showed diverse trends along gradients of mean annual temperature(MAT) and mean annual precipitation(MAP). The leaf N and P concentrations and N:P ratios of 62 families ranged from 6.11 to 30.30 mg g–1, 0.27 to 2.17 mg g–1, and 10.20 to 35.40, respectively. Approximately 1/3–1/2 of the families(22–35 of 62) showed a decrease in leaf N and P concentrations and N:P ratios with increasing MAT or MAP, while the remainder either did not show a significant trend or presented the opposite pattern. Family-specific leaf N^P scaling exponents did not converge to a certain empirical value, with a range of 0.307–0.991 for 54 out of 62 families which indicated a significant N^P scaling relationship. Our results for the first time revealed large variation in the family-level leaf N and P stoichiometry of global terrestrial plants and that the stoichiometric relationships for at least one-third of the families were not consistent with the global trends reported previously. | 5 | Toward dendrite-free and anti-corrosion Zn anodes by regulating a bismuth-based energizer显示文摘Aqueous rechargeable zinc metal batteries display high theoretical capacity along with economical effectiveness,environmental benignity and high safety.However,dendritic growth and chemical corrosion at the Zn anodes limit their widespread applications.Here,we construct a Zn/Bi electrode via in-situ growth of a Bi-based energizer upon Zn metal surface using a replacement reaction.Experimental and theoretical calculations reveal that the Bi-based energizer composed of metallic Bi and ZnBi alloy contributes to Zn plating/stripping due to strong adsorption energy and fast ion transport rates.The resultant Zn/Bi electrode not only circumvents Zn dendrite growth but also improves Zn anode anti-corrosion performance.Specifically,the corrosion current of the Zn/Bi electrode is reduced by 90%compared to bare Zn.Impressively,an ultra-low overpotential of 12mV and stable cycling for 4000h are achieved in a Zn/Bi symmetric cell.A Zn–Cu/Bi asymmetric cell displays a cycle life of 1000 cycles,with an average Coulombic efficiency as high as 99.6%.In addition,an assembled Zn/Bi-activated carbon hybrid capacitor exhibits a stable life of more than 50,000 cycles,an energy density of 64Wh kg−1,and a power density of 7kWkg−1.The capacity retention rate of a Zn/Bi–MnO_(2)full cell is improved by over 150%compared to a Zn–MnO_(2)cell without the Bi-based energizer.Our findings open a new arena for the industrialization of Zn metal batteries for large-scale energy storage applications. | Mingming Wang Yahan Meng Ke Li Touqeer Ahmad Na Chen Yan Xu Jifei Sun Mingyan Chuai Xinhua Zheng Yuan Yuan Chunyue Shen Ziqi Zhang Wei Chen | 2022 | eScience2022,2,5: | 4 |

| 11 | Treatment and survival status of patients with EGFR mutation-positive stage Ⅳ lung adenocarcinoma: five-year follow-up results in the Ordos Area of Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘Objective We aimed to determine the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) mutation status and treatment survival of patients with stage Ⅳ lung adenocarcinoma living in the Ordos area of Inner Mongolia, China.Methods EGFR testing and first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TKI) treatment rates of patients with stage Ⅳ lung adenocarcinoma were analyzed from June 2012 to June 2016. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were constructed to compare patients who received different treatment strategies and those harboring different EGFR mutation statuses.Results EGFR testing and mutation rates were 65.60% and 52.90%, respectively, and improved continuously from June 2012 to June 2016. Among patients with EGFR mutations, 38.9% had EGFR 19 del, 48.2% had L858 R, 4.2% had co-existing mutations in exons 19 and 21, and 8.4% had uncommon mutations. The median overall survival(OS) was 29.5, 26.5, and 16.0 months for patients receiving both TKI and chemotherapy, TKI alone, and chemotherapy alone, respectively(P = 0.047). The OS was 26.5 and 30.0 months for patients harboring EGFR 19 del and L858 R mutations, respectively(P = 0.096).Conclusion The high OS rates of stage Ⅳ lung adenocarcinoma patients living in the Ordos area may be attributed to continuous improvements in EGFR testing and first-line TKI treatment rates. | 17 | Supramolecular liquid barrier for sulfur mustard utilizing host-guest complexation of pillar[5]arene with triethylene oxide substituents显示文摘Sulfur mustard(SM) can be absorbed by skin quickly and cause serious system damage via reacting with nearly all cell constituents. Until now, there is still lack of effective antidotal therapy for SM and skin protection is highly important to defend SM. In this article, supramolecular liquid barrier based on pillar[5]arene with triethylene oxide substituents(EGP5) has been designed to impede the skin permeation of SM and further interaction with the skin tissue. EGP5 could encapsulate SM within its cavity, with a Kavalue of(5.10 ± 0.47) × 10^(2)L/mol. In vitro skin absorption test proved that EGP5 was capable to effectively prevent SM from penetrating through skin. This supramolecular liquid barrier was employed on rat models to systematically evaluate protective effect against SM intoxication. Pretreatment of EGP5could alleviate skin and system damage induced by SM and improve survival rate of poisoned rat models from 10% to 90%. Additionally, EGP5 served as protective materials could be highly reused after recycling several times.
