Malnutrition and Quality of Life in Chinese Cancer Patients: a Clinical Study of 23,994 Subjects显示文摘Background Malnutrition is common in patients with cancer, and can negatively impact their quality of life(QoL)and even survival. However, there is currently no large data available on the prevalence of malnutrition in Chinese cancer patients. This study evaluated the prevalence of malnutrition and the QoL of Chinese patients with locoregional, recurrent or metastatic cancer. Methods We conducted a nationwide observational,multi-center,hospital-based cross-sectional study within the Chinese Society of Nutritional Oncology(CSNO)Network. All of the patients were diagnosed with one of the following 18 different types of malignant tumors:lung cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, malignant lymphoma, leukemia, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, brain cancer, biliary tract malignant tumors or gastrointestinal stromal tumors. These patients were enrolled from 72 hospitals located in different regions of China. The patients’nutritional status was evaluated based on the body mass index(BMI),loss of bodyweight, laboratory measurements and patient generated-subjective global assessment(PG-SGA)scores.The cancer patients’physical status and QoL were assessed by the Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)questionnaire and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC)QLQ-C30 questionnaire, respectively. Results From December 2013 to April 2016,23,994 patients hospitalized for cancer treatment(such as surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy)were enrolled in the study. The patients included 12,494(52.9%)males and 11,124(47.1%)females.The mean age was 55.8±13.7 years. The proportions of patients in cancer stagesⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳand uncertain were 11.5%,20.3%,27.5%,30.2%and 10.5%,respectively.Among the 23,994 inpatients, the proportions of patients who were underweight(BMI<18.5 kg/m2),normal(18.5 kg/m2Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Zhen Ming Fu Chang Wang Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Fu Xiang Zhou Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Min Weng Qing Hua Yao Jiu Wei Cui Wei Li Han Ping Shi the Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers(INSCOC)Group 2021Journal of Nutritional Oncology2021,6,1:8
Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients. The validity of the PG-SGA in Chinese cancer patients warrants further investigation in other cancer types.Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group 2016Journal of Nutritional Oncology2016,1,1:7
Loss of Gn1a/OsCKX2 confers heavy-panicle rice with excellent lodging resistance显示文摘Significant achievements have been made in breeding programs for the heavy-panicle-type(HPT)rice(Oryza sativa) in Southwest China. The HPT varieties now exhibit excellent lodging resistance, allowing them to overcome the greater pressures caused by heavy panicles. However, the genetic mechanism of this lodging resistance remains elusive. Here, we isolated a major quantitative trait locus, Panicle Neck Diameter 1(PND1), andidentified the causal gene as GRAIN NUMBER 1 A/CYTOKININ OXIDASE 2(Gn1 A/Os CKX2). The null gn1 a allele from rice line R498(gn1 aR498) improved lodging resistance through increasing the culm diameter and promoting crown root development.Loss-of-function of Gn1 a/Os CKX2 led to cytokinin accumulation in the crown root tip and accelerated the development of adventitious roots. Gene pyramiding between the null gn1 aR498 allele with two gain-of-function alleles, STRONG CULM 2(SCM2)and SCM3, further improved lodging resistance. Moreover, Gn1 a/Os CKX2 had minimal influence on overall rice quality. Our research thus highlights the distinct genetic components of lodging resistance of HPT varieties and provides a strategy for tailormade crop improvement of both yield and lodging resistance in rice.Bin Tu Zhang Tao Shiguang Wang Lei Zhou Ling Zheng Chun Zhang Xinzi Li Xiaoyu Zhang Junjie Yin Xiaobo Zhu Hua Yuan Ting Li Weilan Chen Peng Qin Bingtian Ma Yuping Wang Shigui Li 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,1:5
Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Gastric Cancer Patients显示文摘Purpose Malnutrition is severe among gastric cancer patients in China. While the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a widely used nutritional assessment tool, the validation for Chinese patients with gastric cancer has not been performed yet. The aim of this research is to validate the Chinese version of the PGSGA in Chinese gastric cancer patients by conducting analyses of nutrition screening and assessment data. Methods Two thousand consecutive adult patients with gastric cancer were included in this observational, cross-sectional study in several tertiary hospitals in China. A survey was made among those patients, which included several questionnaires and some anthropometric parameters. We calculated the parameters to validate the use of PG-SGA categorizing the nutritional status of gastric cancer patients. Then we performed statistical analysis to evaluate the internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity. Results This study verified the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate gastric cancer patients into different nutritional groups. The confirmatory factor analysis verified the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. The internal and external consistency was measured by a concordance analysis which showed an intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) of 0.987. The correlations of the Box 4 score with the Karnofsky performance status score demonstrated alternative form validity with good external consistency (Pearson, r = 0.643, P < 0.001). All three anthropometric dimensions of the PG-SGA were supported by principal component analysis. Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were significant in the majority of tests. Conclusion The Chinese version of the PG-SGA is a valid tool to access the patients’ nutritional status for Chinese gastric patients.Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group 2018Journal of Nutritional Oncology2018,3,4:5

Kinetic Characteristics of Neutralizing Antibody Responses Vary among Patients with COVID-19显示文摘Objective The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic continues to present a major challenge to public health. Vaccine development requires an understanding of the kinetics of neutralizing antibody(NAb) responses to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Methods In total, 605 serum samples from 125 COVID-19 patients(from January 1 to March 14, 2020)varying in age, sex, severity of symptoms, and presence of underlying diseases were collected, and antibody titers were measured using a micro-neutralization assay with wild-type SARS-CoV-2.Results NAbs were detectable approximately 10 days post-onset(dpo) of symptoms and peaked at approximately 20 dpo. The NAb levels were slightly higher in young males and severe cases, while no significant difference was observed for the other classifications. In follow-up cases, the NAb titer had increased or stabilized in 18 cases, whereas it had decreased in 26 cases, and in one case NAbs were undetectable at the end of our observation. Although a decreasing trend in NAb titer was observed in many cases, the NAb level was generally still protective. Conclusion We demonstrated that NAb levels vary among all categories of COVID-19 patients. Longterm studies are needed to determine the longevity and protective efficiency of NAbs induced by SARS-CoV-2.LI Ling Hua TU Hong Wei LIANG Dan WEN Chun Yan LI An An LIN Wei Yin HU Ke Qi HONG Wen Shan LI Yue Ping SU Juan ZHAO San Tao LI Wei YUAN Run Yu ZHOU Ping Ping HU Feng Yu TANG Xiao Ping KE Chang Wen KE Bi Xia CAI Wei Ping 2021Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,12:1

Recent advances in RNA structurome显示文摘RNA structures are essential to support RNA functions and regulation in various biological processes. Recently, a range of novel technologies have been developed to decode genome-wide RNA structures and novel modes of functionality across a wide range of species. In this review, we summarize key strategies for probing the RNA structurome and discuss the pros and cons of representative technologies. In particular, these new technologies have been applied to dissect the structural landscape of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA genome. We also summarize the functionalities of RNA structures discovered in different regulatory layers-including RNA processing, transport, localization, and mRNA translation-across viruses, bacteria, animals, and plants. We review many versatile RNA structural elements in the context of different physiological and pathological processes(e.g., cell differentiation, stress response, and viral replication). Finally, we discuss future prospects for RNA structural studies to map the RNA structurome at higher resolution and at the single-molecule and single-cell level, and to decipher novel modes of RNA structures and functions for innovative applications.Bingbing Xu Yanda Zhu Changchang Cao Hao Chen Qiongli Jin Guangnan Li Junfeng Ma Siwy Ling Yang Jieyu Zhao Jianghui Zhu Yiliang Ding Xianyang Fang Yongfeng Jin Chun Kit Kwok Aiming Ren Yue Wan Zhiye Wang Yuanchao Xue Huakun Zhang Qiangfeng Cliff Zhang Yu Zhou 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,7:1

Effects of permanent left bundle branch area pacing on QRS duration and short-term cardiac function in pacing-indicated patients with left bundle branch block显示文摘In 1986,Burkhoff and Sagawa[1]observed that left ventricular pressure decreased linearly as the QRS duration(QRSd)increased in a pacing experiment.Subsequently,it became recognized that either left bundle branch block(LBBB)or right ventricular pacing could result in prolonged QRSd,with potential deleterious effects on cardiac function and increased risk of atrial fibrillation(AF),heart failure, and mortality.[2]Although previous clinical trials have demonstrated that patients with LBBB and heart failure could benefit from biventricular pacing(ie,biventricular cardiac resynchronization therapy[BiV-CRT]),30%to 40%of such patients do not respond to BiV-CRT and approximately an additional 10%of patients remain untreated owing to an unsuitable coronary sinus vein. With the development of appropriate implant tools,His bundle pacing(HBP)has become increasingly important to enhance pacing as an adjunctive therapy in heart failure treatment.Various studies have demonstrated that CRT utilizing HBP(His-CRT)may be valuable in patients with no response or failure to place a BiV-CRT.However,HBP has higher pacing threshold and lower R-wave amplitude shortcomings and cannot correct LBBB in patients with distal conduction system disease.Qi-Jun Shan Hai Xu Xiu-Juan Zhou Qing Chang Ling Ji Chun Chen Zhi-Xin Jiang 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,9:1

A novel long-term intravenous combined with local treatment with human amnion-derived mesenchymal stem cells for a multidisciplinary rescued uremic calciphylaxis patient and the underlying mechanism显示文摘Calciphylaxis is a rare disease characterized histologically by microvessel calcification and microthrombosis, with high mortality and no proven therapy. Here,we reported a severe uremic calciphylaxis patient with progressive skin ischemia, large areas of painful malodorous ulcers, and mummified legs.Because of the worsening symptoms and signs refractory to conventional therapies, treatment with human amnion-derived mesenchymal stem cells(hAMSCs)was approved.Preclinical release inspections of hAMSCs,efficacy, and safety assessment, including cytokine secretory ability, immunocompetence, tumorigenicity, and genetics analysis in vitro, were introduced. We further performed acute and long-term hAMSC toxicity evaluations in C57BL/6 mice and rats, abnormal immune response tests in C57BL/6 mice, and tumorigenicity tests in neonatal Balbc-nu nude mice. After the preclinical research, the patient was treated with hAMSCs by intravenous and local intramuscular injection and external supernatant application to the ulcers. When followed up to 15 months, the blood-based markers of bone and mineral metabolism improved, with skin soft tissue regeneration and a more favorable profile of peripheral blood mononuclear cells.Skin biopsy after 1-month treatment showed vascular regeneration with mature noncalcified vessels within the dermis, and 20 months later, the re-epithelialization restored the integrity of the damaged site.No infusion or local treatment-related adverse events occurred. Thus, this novel long-term intravenous combined with local treatment with hAMSCs warrants further investigation as a potential regenerative treatment for uremic calciphylaxis due to effects of inhibiting vascular calcification, stimulating angiogenesis and myogenesis,anti-inflammatory and immune modulation,multidifferentiation,re-epithelialization,and restoration of integrity.Lianju Qin Jing Zhang Yujie Xiao Kang Liu Yugui Cui Fangyan Xu Wenkai Ren Yanggang Yuan Chunyan Jiang Song Ning Xiaoxue Ye Ming Zeng Hanyang Qian Anning Bian Fan Li Guang Yang Shaowen Tang Zhihong Zhang Juncheng Dai Jing Guo Qiang Wang Bin Sun Yifei Ge Chun Ouyang Xueqiang Xu Jing Wang Yaoyu Huang Hongqing Cui Jing Zhou Meilian Wang Zhonglan Su Yan Lu Di Wu Jingping Shi Wei Liu Li Dong Yinbing Pan Baiqiao Zhao Ying Cui Xueyan Gao Zhanhui Gao Xiang Ma Aiqin Chen Jie Wang Meng Cao Qian Cui Li Chen Feng Chen Youjia Yu Qiang Ji Zhiwei Zhang Mufeng Gu Xiaojun Zhuang Xiaolin Lv Hui Wang Yanyan Pan Ling Wang Xianrong Xu Jing Zhao Xiuqin Wang Cuiping Liu Ningxia Liang Changying Xing Jiayin Liu Ningning Wang 2022Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2022,14,2:1
Ho Wing Leung Ling Jin Si Wei Mirabelle Mei Po Tsui Bingsheng Zhou Liping Jiao Pak Chuen Cheung Yiu Kan Chun Margaret Burkhardt Murphy Paul Kwan Sing Lam 2013环境与职业医学2013,30,10:0
SPAGINS:semiempirical parameterization for fragments in gamma-induced nuclear spallation显示文摘From the empirical phenomena of fragment distributions in nuclear spallation reactions, semiempirical formulas named SPAGINS were constructed to predict fragment cross-sections in high-energyγ-induced nuclear spallation reactions(PNSR).In constructing the SPAGINS formulas, theoretical models, including the TALYS toolkit,SPACS,and Rudstam formulas, were employed to study the general phenomenon of fragment distributions in PNSR with incident energies ranging from 100 to 1000 MeV.Considering the primary characteristics of PNSR,the SPAGINS formulas modify the EPAX and SPACS formulas and efficiently reproduce the measured data. The SPAGINS formulas provide a new and effective tool for predicting fragment production in PNSR.Hui‑Ling Wei Meng‑Die Zhou Pu Jiao Yu‑Ting Wang Jie Pu Kai‑Xuan Cheng Ya‑Fei Guo Chun‑Yuan Qiao Gong‑Tao Fan Hong‑Wei Wang Chun‑Wang Ma 2023Nuclear Science and Techniques2023,34,12:0

Control and Patterning of Various Hydrophobic Surfaces:Insitu Modification Realized by Flexible Atmospheric Plasma Stamp Technique显示文摘Wettability plays a vital role in fundamental researches and practical applications.Wettability control and patterning have been widely studied in various fields.Although researches have grown rapidly, the methods are still restricted by limitations including complicated processes, high equipment requirements and shortage of methods to treat complex surfaces. Here we report a simple, low cost,array-based wettability control and patterning method via in-situ modification by flexible plasma stamp.Wettability control and patterning on surfaces of superhydrophobic aluminum, superhydrophobic PDMS and silicon, even plant leaf and fruit are achieved. The relationships between the wettability and the treatment time are investigated. We elucidate that the wetting states can also be reversible. The surface modification mechanism of in-situ plasma treatment is further investigated.Utilizing the step by step treatment, gradient and arbitrary wettability patterning on surfaces have been obtained.Notably, the patterned wettability on the inner surface of a tube has been realized, which has never been reported.Finally,in-situ wettability patterning is applied to achieve microfluidics channels on the inner surface of superhydrophobic tube. This work will bring new insights into the study of wetting field and stimulate more applications on wettability control and patterning.Nan Zhang Chun Huang Jiaqian Li Ling Kang Huanxi Zheng Yaqin He Zuankai Wang Xiaofeng Zhou Jian Zhang 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,3:0
