2Effect of enalapril on plasma homocysteine levels in patients with essential hypertension显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effect of enalapril on plasma homocysteine(Hcy) levels and the association of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) C677T polymorphism with the changes of Hcy levels in response to enalapril among patients with essential hypertension.Methods:A total of 130 patients with mild-to-moderate essential hypertension were enrolled and enalapril was orally administered at a dose of 10 mg/d for eight weeks.Plasma Hcy levels were measured by denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography(DHPLC) at baseline and after eight weeks of treatment.Genotyping of MTHFR C677T polymorphism was performed by TaqMan probe technique.Results:Compared with baseline,plasma Hcy levels did not change significantly after eight weeks(P=0.81).Stratified by baseline Hcy levels,a significant increase in plasma Hcy levels(P=0.02) among those with Hcy <10 μmol/L was observed,in contrast to no significant changes in plasma Hcy levels(P=0.54) among those with Hcy ≥10 μmol/L.No significant association was observed between MTHFR C677T polymorphism and changes in Hcy levels in response to enalapril.Conclusions:Enalapril may cause an increase in plasma Hcy levels among the hypertensives with low baseline Hcy levels.There was no significant association between MTHFR C677T genotypes and changes in Hcy levels in response to enalapril among subjects with essential hypertension.Fang-fang FAN Yong HUO Xu WANG Xin XU Bin-yan WANG Xi-ping XU Jian-ping LI 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010,11,8:30

4Chinese Trauma Surgeon Association for management guidelines of vacuum sealing drainage application in abdominal surgeries-Update and systematic review显示文摘Vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) is frequently used in abdominal surgeries. However, relevant guidelines are rare. Chin ese Trauma Surge on Associati on orga nized a committee composed of 28 experts across China in July 2017, aiming to provide an evidence-based recommendation for the application of VSD in abdominal surgeries.Eleven questions regarding the use of VSD in abdominal surgeries were addressed:(1) which type of materials should be respectively chosen for the intraperitoneal cavity, retroperitoneal cavity and superficial incisions?(2) Can VSD be preventively used for a high-risk abdominal incision w让h primary suture?(3) Can VSD be used in severely contaminated/infected abdominal surgical sites?(4) Can VSD be used for temporary abdominal cavity closure under some special conditions such as severe abdominal trauma, infection, liver transplantation and intra-abdominal volume increment in abdominal compartment syndrome?(5) Can VSD be used in abdominal organ inflammation, injury, or postoperative drainage?(6) Can VSD be used in the treatment of intestinal fistula and pancreatic fistula?(7) Can VSD be used in the treatment of intra-abdominal and extra-peritoneal abscess?(8) Can VSD be used in the treatment of abdominal wall wounds, wound cavity, and defects?(9) Does VSD in crease the risk of bleeding?(10) Does VSD increase the risk of intestinal wail injury?(11) Does VSD increase the risk of peritoneal adhesion? Focusing on these questions, evidence-based recommendations were given accordingly. VSD was strongly recommended regarding the questions 2-4. Weak recommendations were made regarding questions 1 and 5-11. 7Dietary L-theanine alleviated lipopolysaccharide-induced immunological stress in yellow-feathered broilers显示文摘L-theanine, a natural nonprotein amino acid with a high biological activity, is reported to exert anti-stress properties. An experiment with a 3 ? 2 factorial arrangement was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary L-theanine on growth performance and immune function in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-challenged broilers. A total of 432 one-day-old male yellow-feathered broilers were randomly assigned to 3 dietary treatments(control, antibiotic and L-theanine diets) with 2 subgroups of each(6 replicate cages;12 birds/cage). Birds from each subgroup of the 3 dietary treatments were intra-abdominally injected with the same amount of LPS or saline at 24, 25, 26 d of age. Both dietary L-theanine and antibiotic improved(P < 0.05) the growth performance of birds before LPS injection(d 1 to 21). The effect of dietary L-theanine was better(P < 0.05) than that of antibiotic. Lipopolysaccharide decreased feed intake(FI) and body weight gain(BWG) from d 22 to 28(P < 0.05), BWG and feed to gain ratio(F:G) from d 29 to 56(P < 0.05), increased mortality in different growth periods(P < 0.05), elevated the levels of serum cortisol, a1-acid glycoprotein(a1-AGP), interleukin-6(IL-6) on d 24 and 25(P < 0.05), reduced immune organ indexes and contents of jejunal mucosal secretory immunoglobulin A(s Ig A) on d 28(P < 0.05). The decreased FI and BWG, as well as increased F:G and mortality in LPS-challenged birds, were alleviated by dietary L-theanine or antibiotic from d 29 to 56 and from d 1 to 56. Dietary L-theanine mitigated the elevated serum a1-AGP level on d 25, serum IL-6 concentration on d 24 and 26, and the decreased jejunal mucosal s Ig A content on d 28 of the LPS-challenged birds. 8MRT-LBM-based numerical simulation of seepage flow through fractal fracture networks显示文摘The study on seepage flow passing through single fractures is essential and critical for understanding of the law of seepage flow passing through fracture networks and the coupling mechanisms of seepage field and stress field in rock masses.By using the fractal interpolation to reconstruct a natural coarse fracture,as well as taking into account the microstructure of the fracture,the numerical simulation of seepage flow passing through the coarse fractures with two distinct vertical scaling factors is conducted based on the MRT-LBM model of the lattice Boltzmann method.Then,after obtaining the length of the preferential flow pathway,the permeability of the two kinds of fractures is estimated respectively.In view of difficulties in locating the preferential flow pathway of natural fracture networks,by numerical tests a transect permeability weighted algorithm for estimating the fracture network permeability is proposed.The algorithm is not specific to one or more particular preferential flow pathways,but considers the contribution of each section to hinder the fluid passing through the medium.In order to apply the new algorithm,by capturing the structure of fracture networks based on the image-processing technique,the numerical simulations of seepage flow passing through two groups of natural fracture networks is carried out,the permeability is forecasted and the partial flows are reproduced for both cases.It is found that the preferential flow pathway emerges at the beginning of evolution,then is strengthened subsequently,and finally reaches a steady status.Furthermore,by using the proposed method some details on local flow can be clearly observed such as backflows and vortices at local branches can exist simultaneously and so forth,suggesting the validness of the proposed method for multiscale simulations of seepage flow.FAN Huo ZHENG Hong 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,12:12
9Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 10Meningeal lymphatic vessels regulate brain tumor drainage and immunity显示文摘Recent studies have shown that meningeal lymphatic vessels(MLVs),which are located both dorsally and basally beneath the skull,provide a route for draining macromolecules and trafficking immune cells from the central nervous system(CNS)into cervical lymph nodes(CLNs),and thus represent a potential therapeutic target for treating neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.However,the roles of MLVs in brain tumor drainage and immunity remain unexplored.Here we show that dorsal MLVs undergo extensive remodeling in mice with intracranial gliomas or metastatic melanomas.RNA-seq analysis of MLV endothelial cells revealed changes in the gene sets involved in lymphatic remodeling,fluid drainage,as well as inflammatory and immunological responses.Disruption of dorsal MLVs alone impaired intratumor fluid drainage and the dissemination of brain tumor cells to deep CLNs(dCLNs).Notably,the dendritic cell(DC)trafficking from intracranial tumor tissues to dCLNs decreased in mice with defective dorsal MLVs,and increased in mice with enhanced dorsal meningeal lymphangiogenesis.Strikingly,disruption of dorsal MLVs alone,without affecting basal MLVs or nasal LVs,significantly reduced the efficacy of combined anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 checkpoint therapy in striatal tumor models.Furthermore,mice bearing tumors overexpressing VEGF-C displayed a better response to anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 combination therapy,and this was abolished by CCL21/CCR7 blockade,suggesting that VEGF-C potentiates checkpoint therapy via the CCL21/CCR7 pathway.Together,the results of our study not only demonstrate the functional aspects of MLVs as classic lymphatic vasculature,but also highlight that they are essential in generating an efficient immune response against brain tumors.Xueting Hu Qiuping Deng Lu Ma Qingqing Li Yidong Chen Yuhan Liao Fan Zhou Chen Zhang Linlin Shao Jun Feng Tubao He Weihai Ning Yan Kong Yingqing Huo Aibin He Bing Liu Jingjing Zhang Ralf Adams Yulong He Fuchou Tang Xiuwu Bian Jincai Luo 2020Cell Research2020,30,3:11
11Early prediction of pathological outcomes to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients using automated breast ultrasound显示文摘Objective: Early assessment of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) for breast cancer allows therapy to be individualized.The optimal assessment method has not been established.We investigated the accuracy of automated breast ultrasound(ABUS) to predict pathological outcomes after NAC.Methods: A total of 290 breast cancer patients were eligible for this study.Tumor response after 2 cycles of chemotherapy was assessed using the product change of two largest perpendicular diameters(PC) or the longest diameter change(LDC).PC and LDC were analyzed on the axial and the coronal planes respectively.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were used to evaluate overall performance of the prediction methods.Youden's indexes were calculated to select the optimal cut-off value for each method.Sensitivity, specificity,positive and negative predictive values(PPV and NPV) and the area under the ROC curve(AUC) were calculated accordingly.Results: yp T0/is was achieved in 42 patients(14.5%) while yp T0 was achieved in 30 patients(10.3%) after NAC.All four prediction methods(PC on axial planes, LDC on axial planes, PC on coronal planes and LDC on coronal planes) displayed high AUCs(all>0.82), with the highest of 0.89 [95% confidence interval(95% CI), 0.83–0.95]when mid-treatment ABUS was used to predict final pathological complete remission(p CR).High sensitivities(85.7%–88.1%) were observed across all four prediction methods while high specificities(81.5%–85.1%) were observed in two methods used PC.The optimal cut-off values defined by our data replicate the WHO and the RECIST criteria.Lower AUCs were observed when mid-treatment ABUS was used to predict poor pathological outcomes.Conclusions: ABUS is a useful tool in early evaluation of p CR after NAC while less reliable when predicting poor pathological outcomes.Xinguang Wang Ling Huo Yingjian He Zhaoqing Fan Tianfeng Wang Yuntao Xie Jinfeng Li Tao Ouyang 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,5:11
12Corrosion resistance of nanostructured magnesium hydroxide coating on magnesium alloy AZ31: influence of EDTA显示文摘A hexagonal nanosheet Mg(OH)2 coating was prepared through a one-step hydrothermal method using LiOH solution as mineralizer and then modified by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA) to minimize the rapid corrosion of AZ31 Mg alloy.The performance of the coating was evaluated using electrochemical technique,hydrogen evolution measurements, nanoscratch test,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns and field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM).The results suggested that the corrosion rate of bare AZ31 Mg alloys was significantly reduced by one and two orders of magnitude through the protection from Mg(OH)2 coating and modification with EDTA(i.e., EDTA-Mg(OH)2 coating), respectively.FESEM micrographs indicated that the modification in EDTA elicits to the formation of an EDTA-Mg(OH)2 composite with a thickness as twice as that of as-prepared Mg(OH)2 coating.Nanoscratch tests revealed strong adhesion between the composite or Mg(OH)2 coating and the substrate.The study of formation and corrosion mechanisms of the coatings manifested that Mg(OH)2 was first formed near the intermetallic compound AlMn particles and gradually covered the entire surface, wherein the AlMn particles played an important role in the coating growth process.And it also proved that EDTA accelerated the formation of Mg(OH)2.Xiao-Li Fan Yuan-Fang Huo Chang-Yang Li M.Bobby Kannan Xiao-Bo Chen Shao-Kang Guan Rong-Chang Zeng Quan-Li Ma 2019Rare Metals2019,38,6:11

15Corrosion resistance of an amino acid-bioinspired calcium phosphate coating on magnesium alloy AZ31显示文摘An L-cysteine-bioinspired calcium phosphate(Ca-P)coating is prepared upon magnesium alloy AZ31 in a water bath at 60℃.FE–SEM,FTIR,XRD,electrochemical characterization,hydrogen evolution tests and XPS were used to evaluate the microstructure,chemistry and corrosion performance of the samples.Results indicate that L-cysteine promotes the nucleation process of the coating and significantly increases its thickness.This can be attributed to the complexation of the carboxyl group and mercapto group of L-cysteine with calcium ions.Indeed,the obtained Ca-P coating possesses higher corrosion resistance than that prepared in L-cysteine-free bath.Xiao-Li Fan Chang-Yang Li Yu-Bo Wang Yuan-Fang Huo Shuo-Qi Li Rong-Chang Zeng 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,14:10
16The Low Energy X-ray telescope (LE) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Low Energy X-ray telescope(LE) is one of the three main instruments of the Insight-Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(Insight-HXMT). It is equipped with Swept Charge Device(SCD) sensor arrays with a total geometrical area of 384 cm^2 and an energy band from 0.7 to 13 ke V. In order to evaluate the particle induced X-ray background and the cosmic X-ray background simultaneously, LE adopts collimators to define four types of Field Of Views(FOVs), i.e., 1.6°×6°, 4°×6°, 50°-60°×2°-6 oand the blocked ones which block the X-ray by an aluminum cover. LE is constituted of three detector boxes(LEDs) and an electric control box(LEB) and achieves a good energy resolution of 140 e V@5.9 ke V, an excellent time resolution of 0.98 ms, as well as an extremely low pileup(<1%@18000 cts/s). 17Antioxidant Effect of Human Selenium-containing Single-chain Fv in Rat Cardiac Myocytes显示文摘Reactive oxygen species(ROS) plays a key role in human heart diseases. Glutathione peroxidase(GPX) functions as an antioxidant as it catalyzes the reduction of hydroperoxide. In order to investigate the antioxidant effect of human selenium-containing single-chain Fv(Se-scFv-B3), a new mimic of GPX, a model system of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)-induced rat cardiac myocyte damage was established. The cardiac myocyte damage was characterized in terms of cell viability, lipid peroxidation, cell membrane integrity, and intracellular H2O2 level. The Se-scFv-B3 significantly reduced H2O2-induced cell damage as shown by the increase of cell viability, the decline of malondialdehyde(MDA) production, lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) release, and intracellular H2O2 level. 18Diurnal dynamics of soil respiration and the influencing factors for three land-cover types in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert,China显示文摘Knowledge of soil respiration and the influencing factors in desert ecosystems is essential to understanding carbon dynamics and responses of biotic and abiotic processes in soils to climate change. In this study, soil respiration rate(R_s) for three land-cover types(shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land) in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert was measured in May 2015 using an automated soil CO_2 flux system. The effects of soil temperature(T_s) and soil water content(W_s) on R_s were also analyzed. The results showed that R_s values in shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land were all low and exhibited obvious diurnal fluctuations. The establishment of straw checkerboard barriers in sandy land had no significant effect on R_s, while the establishment of shelterbelts significantly increased R_s. Shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers were carbon sinks at night and early morning and were carbon sources in the daytime, while shelter forest land always acted as a carbon source during the whole day. The synergistic effect of T_s and W_s could better explain the diurnal dynamics in R_s than single factor. In shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, W_s was identified as a limiting factor influencing the diurnal dynamics of R_s. Furthermore, a relatively strong hysteresis loop existed between R_s and T_s. 19Synthesis and biological activity of novel N-(3-furan-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl) amides derivatives显示文摘A series of novel N-(3-furan-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl) amides derivatives were designed and synthesized. Their structures were confirmed by ~1H NMR, ^(13) C NMR and HRMS. All title compounds were evaluated for their herbicidal and antifungal activities. Preliminary bioassay results indicated that the title compounds showed good to moderate herbicidal activity at 1000 mg/L. Compound 6q presented the best activity against Digitaria sanguinalis(L) Scop., Amaranthus retroflexus L. and Arabidopsis thaliana with an inhibition degree of five. Compound 6d also showed an inhibition degree of five against D. sanguinalis.In addition, at 50 mg/L, most compounds exhibited good in vitro antifungal activity against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, with compound 6c showing over 90% antifungal activity against S. sclerotiorum and Pellicularia sasakii.Jing-Qian Huo Liu-Yong Ma Zhe Zhang Zhi-Jin Fan Jin-Lin Zhang Tetyana V. 20Effects of surfactants on graphene oxide nanoparticles transport in saturated porous media显示文摘Transport behaviors of graphene oxide nanoparticles(GONPs) in saturated porous media were examined as a function of the presence and concentration of anionic surfactant(SDBS)and non-ionic surfactant(Triton X-100) under different ionic strength(IS). The results showed that the GONPs were retained obviously in the sand columns at both IS of 50 and200 mmol/L, and they were more mobile at lower IS. The presence and concentration of surfactants could enhance the GONP transport, particularly as observed at higher IS. It was interesting to see that the GONP transport was surfactant type dependent, and SDBS was more effective to facilitate GONP transport than Triton X-100 in our experimental conditions. The advection–dispersion–retention numerical modeling followed this trend and depicted the difference quantitatively.
