1Characterization of dissolved organic matter fractions from Lake Hongfeng, Southwestern China Plateau显示文摘With XAD-series and ion exchange resins, dissolved organic matter (DOM) from Lake Hongfeng in Southwestern China Plateau was isolated into 6 fractions, i.e., humic acid (HA), fulvic acid (FA), hydrophobic neutrals (HON), hydrophilic acids (HIA), hydrophilic bases (HIB) and hydrophilic neutrals (HIN). Those fractions were characterized by high performance size exclusion chromatography, fluorescence spectroscopy and UV absorbance. Among the 6 fractions, FA was predominant and accounted for 51% of the total DOM. The weight-average (Mw) and number-averaged (Mn) molecular weight of these fractions ranged from 1688 to 2355 Da and from 1338 to 1928 Da, respectively. A strong correlation was observed between specific UV absorbance at 280 nm, E2/E3 (absorbance at 250 nm to 365 nm), and the molecular weight for DOM fractions. UV-Vis fulvic-like fluorescence peaks were found in all fractions. Protein-like fluorescence peaks existed in HON may indicate that microbial activity was severely in Lake Hongfeng. There was a significant relationship between fluorescence intensities and specific UV absorbance at 254 nm for those DOM fractions, suggesting their similar luminescence characteristics. The values of fluorescence index (f450/500) indicated that hydrophobic fractions may derive from terrestrial sources, and the hydrophilic fractions from microbial and terrestrial origins. 2Study on detection of coastal water environment of China by ocean color remote sensing显示文摘Coastal water environment is essentially enhanced by ocean color which is basically decided by substances concentration in water such as chlorophyll, suspended material and yellow substance. It is very difficult, even not possible, to detect water color by expensive ship routing, because of its temporal and spatial variety of feature and scales in the very complicated dynamical system of coastal water. With the development of satellite technique in the last 20 a, space sensors can be applied to detect ocean color by measuring the spectra of water leaving radiance.It is proven that ocean color remote sensing is a powerful tool for understanding the process of oceanic biology and physics. Since the 1980s, great attention has been paid to the advanced remote sensing technique in China, especially to development of satellite programs for the coastal water environment. On 7 September 1988, China launched her first polar orbit satellite FY-1A for meteorological and oceanographic application (water color and temperature) and the second satellite FY-1B two years later. In May 1999, China launched her second generation environment satellite FY-1C with higher sensitivies, more channels and stable operation. The special ocean color satellite HY-1 is planned to be in the orbit in 2001, whose main purpose is to detect the coastal water environment of China seas. China is also developing a very advantageous sensor termed as Chinese moderate imaging spectra radiometer (CMODIS) with 91 channels, which will be a good candidate of the third generation satellite FY-3 in 2003. The technical system of ocean color remote sensing was developed by the Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO), State Oceanic Administration (SOA) in 1997. The system included data receiving, processing, distribution, calibration, validation and application units. The Hangzhou Station of SIO, SOA has the capability to receive FY-1 and AVHRR data since 1989. It was also a SeaWiFS scientific research station authorized by NASA,USA to free receive SeaWiFS data from 16 September 1997. In the recent years, the local algorithms of atmospheric correction and inversion of ocean color have been developed for FY-1C and SeaWiFS, to improve the accuracy of the measurement from satellites efficiently. The satellite data are being applied to monitor coastal water environment, such as the spatial distribution of chlorophyll, suspended material and yellow substance, red tide detection and coastal current study. 3Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. 4Binding characteristics of perylene, phenanthrene and anthracene to different DOM fractions from lake water显示文摘Six hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions were isolated using XAD-8 and XAD-4 resins, and were extensively characterized. Partition coefficients of perylene, phenanthrene and anthracene binding to the six fractions were determined by fluorescence quenching titration. The Kdoc values obtained for the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) binding to the hydrophobic fractions were larger than those to the hydrophilic fractions. Nonlinear Stern-Volmer plots were observed when binding phenanthrene and anthracene to some hydrophilic fraction samples, suggesting saturation of polar interaction binding sites. A significant correlation of logKdoc values with molecular weights and molar absorptivities at 280 nm was observed, while atomic ratio of C/H was found to be a poor indicator for aromaticity. Other structural descriptors such as paraffinic carbon and polarity influenced the DOM-fraction ability to bind PAHs. 8Determination of Lignin in Marine Sediment Using Alkaline Cupric Oxide Oxidation-Solid Phase Extraction-on-Column Derivatization-Gas Chromatography显示文摘Lignin serves as one of the most important molecular fossils for tracing Terrestrial Organic Matters (TOMs) in marine environment. Extraction and derivatization of lignin oxidation products (LOPs) are crucial for accurate quantification of lignin in marine sediment. Here we report a modification of the conventional alkaline cupric oxide (CuO) oxidation method, the modification consisting in a solid phase extraction (SPE) and a novel on-column derivatization being employed for better efficiency and reproducibility. In spiking blanks, recoveries with SPE for the LOPs are between 77.84% and 99.57% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranging from 0.57% to 8.04% (n=3), while those with traditional liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) are from 44.52% to 86.16% with RSDs being from 0.53% to 13.14% (n=3). Moreover, the reproducibility is greatly improved with SPE, with less solvent consumption and shorter processing time. The average efficiency of on-column derivatization for LOPs is 100.8% ± 0.68%, which is significantly higher than those of in-vial or in-syringe derivatization, thus resulting in still less consumption of derivatizing reagents. Lignin in the surface sediments sampled from the south of Yangtze River estuary, China, was determined with the established method. Recoveries of 72.66% to 85.99% with standard deviation less than 0.01mg/10g dry weight are obtained except for p-hydroxyben-zaldehyde. The lignin content Σ8 (produced from 10 g dry sediment) in the research area is between 0.231 and 0.587 mg. 9Sirt1-ROS-TRAF6 Signaling-Induced Pyroptosis Contributes to Early Injury in Ischemic Mice显示文摘Stroke is an acute cerebro-vascular disease with high incidence and poor prognosis,most commonly ischemic in nature.In recent years,increasing attention has been paid to inflammatory reactions as symptoms of a stroke.However,the role of inflammation in stroke and its underlying mechanisms require exploration.In this study,we evaluated the inflammatory reactions induced by acute ischemia and found that pyroptosis occurred after acute ischemia both in vivo and in vitro,as determined by interleukin-1β,apoptosis-associated speck-like protein,and caspase-1.The early inflammation resulted in irreversible ischemic injury,indicating that it deserves thorough investigation.Meanwhile,acute ischemia decreased the Sirtuin 1(Sirtl)protein levels,and increased the TRAF6(TNF receptor associated factor 6)protein and reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels.In further exploration,both Sirtl suppression and TRAF6 activation were found to contribute to this pyroptosis.Reduced Sirtl levels were responsible for the production of ROS and increased TRAF6 protein levels after ischemic exposure.Moreover,N-acetyl-L-cysteine,an ROS scavenger,suppressed the TRAF6 accumulation induced by oxygen-glucose deprivation via suppression of ROS bursts.These phenomena indicate that Sirtl is upstream of ROS,and ROS bursts result in increased TRAF6 levels.Further,the activation of Sirtl during the period of ischemia reduced ischemiainduced injury after 72 h of reperfusion in mice with middle cerebral artery occlusion.In sum,these results indicate that pyroptosis-dependent machinery contributes to the neural injury during acute ischemia via the Sirt1-ROS-TRAF6 signaling pathway.We propose that inflammatory reactions occur soon after oxidative stress and are detrimental to neuronal survival;this provides a promising therapeutic target against ischemic injuries such as a stroke.Weijie Yan Wei Sun Jiahui Fan Haiqing Wang Song Han Junfa Li Yanling Yin 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,8:9
10Characterization of cellulose-based electrospun nanofiber membrane and its adsorptive behaviours using Cu(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ),Pb(Ⅱ)as models显示文摘Nanofiber membranes from the composite of cellulose acetate/polyvinylpyrrolidone were prepared using electrospinning technique. After treated with water and alcoholic KOH to remove partially polyvinylpyrrolidone and deacetylate the cellulose acetate, the membranes were further functionalized with thiol groups using thioglycolic acid. Related materials were characterized using infrared and thermogravimetric analysis. And the results showed that the membranes were success of functionalisation. Then the nanofiber membranes were used in the sorption-desorption process. The effects of pH, contacting time and adsorption capacity of nanofiber membranes were studied against Cu(Ⅱ), Cd(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) ions. And the maximum adsorption capacities of Pb (Ⅱ), Cu (Ⅱ), and Cd (Ⅱ) ions were estimated at 30.96, 19.63, 34.70 mg g-1 . Our results suggested that the adsorption behaviour of metal ions could be described using Langmuir model. Their adsorption kinetics was in agreement with the model of pseudo-second order, suggesting chemical adsorption as the rate-limiting step of the adsorption mechanism. 11Recent Advances in Interface Engineering for Electrocatalytic CO_(2) Reduction Reaction显示文摘Electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2) RR) can store and transform the intermittent renewable energy in the form of chemical energy for industrial production of chemicals and fuels,which can dramatically reduce CO_(2) emission and contribute to carbon-neutral cycle. E cient electrocatalytic reduction of chemically inert CO_(2) is challenging from thermodynamic and kinetic points of view. Therefore,low-cost,highly e cient,and readily available electrocatalysts have been the focus for promoting the conversion of CO_(2). Very recently,interface engineering has been considered as a highly e ective strategy to modulate the electrocatalytic performance through electronic and/or structural modulation,regulations of electron/proton/mass/intermediates,and the control of local reactant concentration,thereby achieving desirable reaction pathway,inhibiting competing hydrogen generation,breaking binding-energy scaling relations of intermediates,and promoting CO_(2) mass transfer. 12Acoustic radiation field of the truncated parametric source generated by a piston radiator:model and experiment显示文摘A theoretical model is presented to describe the parametric acoustic field generated by a piston radiator. In the model, the high-frequency primary wave interaction region that is truncated by a low-pass acoustic filter can be viewed as a cylindrical source within the Rayleigh distance of the piston. When the radius of the piston is much smaller than the length of the parametric region, this model is reduced to the Berketey’s End-Fire Line Army model. 14Characteristics and distribution of low molecular weight organic acids in the sediment porewaters in Bosten Lake, China显示文摘The composition and vertical profiles of low molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOAs) and the contribution of them to dissolved organic matter (DOM) in sediment porewaters in Bosten Lake, Xinjiang, China were investigated. The results showed that total concentration of LMWOAs was up to 94.5 μmol/L and their proportion in DOM was 5.6%, suggesting that LMWOAs were important chemical components in DOM in lake sediment porewaters. Among the seven LMWOAs, pyruvic and acetic acid had the highest concentrations with 26.30 and 8.31 μmol/L, accounting for 51.4% and 14.92% of LMWOAs, respectively. Trifluoroacetic and sorbic acid had the lowest concentrations, indicating that the compositions of LMWOAs in relative reducing environments were largely different from those reported in glacier, atmosphere and soils. The concentrations of lactic, acetic, formic, sorbic and oxalic acid decreased with increasing depth, probably relating to stronger microbial activities in the initial stage of early diagenesis. Trifluoroacetic acid was mainly anthropogenic with its concentration, showing a diusive trend from the surface to bottom sediments. The concentrations of lactic acid and nitrate generally showed a consistent profile. The increasing concentration of pyruvic acid in the vertical profile was just opposite to that of sulfate, revealing a significant negative relationship between them. Oxalic acid remained constant except for an obvious peak at 6 cm depth. 15Regulation of the inflammatory cycle by a controllable release hydrogel for eliminating postoperative inflammation after discectomy显示文摘Surgery is the final choice for most patients with intervertebral disc degeneration(IDD).Operation-caused trauma will cause inflammation in the intervertebral disc.Serious inflammation will cause tissue defects and induce tissue degeneration,IDD recurrence and the occurrence of other diseases.Therefore,we proposed a scheme to treat recurrence after discectomy by inhibiting inflammation with an aspirin(ASP)-loaded hydrogel to restore the mechanical stability of the spine and relieve local inflammation.ASP-liposomes(ASP-Lips)were incorporated into a photocrosslinkable gelatin-methacryloyl(GelMA)via mixing.This material can effectively alleviate inflammation by inhibiting the release of high mobility group box 1(HMGB1)from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.We further assessed the expression of inflammatory cytokines,such as interleukin 6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and degeneration-related factors,such as type II collagen(COL-2),Aggrecan,matrix metallopeptidases-3(MMP-3),MMP-13,a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs-4(ADAMTS-4)and ADAMTS-5 in rat nucleus pulpous cells.The level of IDD was analyzed through H&E,safranin-O staining and immunohistochemistry in rabbit samples.In vitro,we found that ASP-Lip@GelMA treatment significantly decreased inflammatory cytokines,MMP-3 and-13,and ADAMTS-4 and-5 and up-regulated COL-2 and Aggrecan via the inhibited release of HMGB-1 from the nucleus.In vivo,ASP-Lip@GelMA can effectively inhibit inflammation of local tissue after disc surgery and fill local tissue defects.This composite hydrogel system is a promising way to treat the recurrence of IDD after surgery without persistent complications.Yu Liu Jiacheng Du Peng Peng Ruoyu Cheng Jiayi Lin Congxin Xu Huilin Yang Wenguo Cui Haiqing Mao Yuling Li Dechun Geng 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,1:6
16A Numerical Study of the Aerodynamic Characteristics of a High-Speed Train under the Effect of Crosswind and Rain显示文摘The performances of high-speed trains in the presence of coupling effects with crosswind and rain have attracted great attention in recent years.The objective of the present paper was to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of a high-speed train under such conditions in the framework of an Eulerian-Lagrangian approach.An aerodynamic model of a high-speed train was first set up,and the side force coefficient obtained from numerical simulation was compared with that provided by wind tunnel experiments to verify the accuracy of the approach.Then,the effects of the yaw angle,the resultant wind speed,and the rainfall rate on aerodynamic coefficients were analyzed.The results indicate that the aerodynamic coefficients grow almost linearly with the rainfall rate,and increase with a decrease in the resultant wind speed.Due to the impact of raindrops on the train surface and the airflow,the pressure coefficients of windward and leeward side of the train become larger with the increase of the rainfall rate.Raindrops can accelerate the airflow and suppress the vortices detachment.Moreover,the flow velocity in regions surrounding the train increases with an increase in the rainfall rate.Haiqing Li Mengge Yu Qian Zhang Heng Wen 2020Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2020,16,1:6
1717β-estradiol promotes recovery after myocardial infarction by enhancing homing and angiogenic capacity of bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells through ERa-SDF-1/ CXCR4 crosstalking显示文摘17β-estradiol (E2)has been shown to mediate endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs)to repair infarcted myocardium.Both.estrogen receptor α(ERα)and stromal derived factor-1 (SDF-1)/CXCR4 signaling pathways may play a critical role in regulating homing and angiogenesis of EPCs in this process.However,the interaction between ERa and SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling pathways remains unclear.In response to E2,the expression of SDF-1 and CXCR4 in EPCs from ovariectomized BALB/C mice was obviously up-regulated,in addition,the migration and tube formation of EPCs in vitro were also significantly enhanced.However,ERα antagonist (MMP)and CXCR4 inhibitor (AMD3100)significantly decreased the migration The combined treatment of MMP and AMD3100 and tube length of EPCs,even if mediated by E2. exerted more inhibitory effects on migration and tube formation of EPCs induced by E2.In in vivo studies,ovariectomized mice were induced acute myocardial infarction (AMI),and divided into four groups (n =6):non-preconditioned EPCs (3 × 10^6)group,E2-preconditioned EPCs group,MMP +AMD3100 preconditioned EPCs group,and EPCs pretreated with E2 +MMP +AMD3100 group.E2 group displayed a greater number of homing EPCs,increased capillary density in infarcted myocardium,decreased left ventricular (LV) fibrosis.Nevertheless,these effects of E2 were almost completely blocked by the combined treatment of MMP and AMD3100.E2 can produce cardiovascular protective effects in AMI setting by enhancing homing and angiogenic capacity of EPCs through ERα and CXCR4 signaling pathways, which means that ERα and CXCR4 pathways are effective targets for the development of treatment strategies for AMI.Zhize Yuan Lei Kang Zhe Wang Anqing Chen Qiang Zhao Haiqing Li 2018Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2018,50,12:6
