1Melatonin alleviates intervertebral disc degeneration by disrupting the IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome positive feedback loop显示文摘The inflammatory response is induced by the overexpression of inflammatory cytokines, mainly interleukin(IL)-1β, and is one of the main causes of intervertebral disc degeneration(IVDD). NLR pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3) inflammasome activation is an important source of IL-1β. As an anti-inflammatory neuroendocrine hormone, melatonin plays various roles in different pathophysiological conditions. However, its roles in IVDD are still not well understood and require more examination. First, we demonstrated that melatonin delayed the progression of IVDD and relieved IVDD-related low back pain in a rat needle puncture IVDD model;moreover, NLRP3 inflammasome activation(NLRP3, p20, and IL-1β levels) was significantly upregulated in severely degenerated human discs and a rat IVDD model. Subsequently, an IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation positive feedback loop was found in nucleus pulposus(NP) cells that were treated with IL-1β. In these cells, expression of NLRP3 and p20 was significantly increased, NF-κB signaling was involved in this regulation, and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mt ROS)production increased. Furthermore, we found that melatonin disrupted the IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation positive feedback loop in vitro and in vivo. Melatonin treatment decreased NLRP3, p20, and IL-1β levels by inhibiting NF-κB signaling and downregulating mt ROS production. Finally, we showed that melatonin mediated the disruption of the positive feedback loop of IL-1β in vivo. In this study, we showed for the first time that IL-1β promotes its own expression by upregulating NLRP3 inflammasome activation. 3Design and application of an Electric Tail Rotor Drive Control(ETRDC) for helicopters with performance tests显示文摘With the development of electric helicopters' motor technology and the widespread use of electric drive rotors, more aircraft use electric rotors to provide thrust and directional control.For a helicopter tail rotor, the wake of the main rotor influences the tail rotor's inflow and wake.In the procedure of controlling, crosswind will also cause changes to the tail disk load. This paper describes requirements and design principles of an electric motor drive and variable pitch tail rotor system. A particular spoke-type architecture of the motor is designed, and the performance of blades is analyzed by the CFD method. The demand for simplicity of moving parts and strict constraints on the weight of a helicopter makes the design of electrical and mechanical components challenging. Different solutions have been investigated to propose an effective alternative to the mechanical actuation system. A test platform is constructed which can collect the dynamic response of the thrust control. 4Calcium silicate accelerates cutaneous wound healing with enhanced re-epithelialization through EGF/EGFR/ERK-mediated promotion of epidermal stem cell functions显示文摘Background:Human epidermal stem cells(hESCs)play an important role in re-epithelialization and thereby in facilitating wound healing,while an effective way to activate hESCs remains to be explored.Calcium silicate(CS)is a form of bioceramic that can alter cell behavior and promote tissue regeneration.Here,we have observed the effect of CS on hESCs and investigated its possible mechanism.Methods:Using a mouse full-thickness skin excision model,we explored the therapeutic effect of CS on wound healing and re-epithelialization.In vitro,hESCs were cultured with diluted CS ion extracts(CSIEs),and the proliferation,migration ability and stemness of hESCs were evaluated.The effects of CS on the epidermal growth factor(EGF),epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)and extracellular signal-related kinase(ERK)signaling pathway were also explored.Results:In vivo,CS accelerated wound healing and re-epithelialization.Immunohistochemistry demonstrated that CS upregulated cytokeratin 19 and integrinβ1 expression,indicating that CS improved hESCs stemness.In vitro studies confirmed that CS improved the biological function of hESCs.And the possible mechanism could be due to the activation of the EGF/EGFR/ERK signaling pathway.Conclusion:CS can promote re-epithelialization and improve the biological functions of hESCs via activating the EGF/EGFR/ERK signaling pathway.Bingmin Li Haowen Tang Xiaowei Bian Kui Ma Jiang Chang Xiaobing Fu Cuiping Zhang 2021Burns & Trauma2021,9,1:3
5Integration of Multiple Heterointerfaces in a Hierarchical 0D@2D@1D Structure for Lightweight,Flexible,and Hydrophobic Multifunctional Electromagnetic Protective Fabrics显示文摘The development of wearable multifunctional electromagnetic protective fabrics with multifunctional,low cost,and high efficiency remains a challenge.Here,inspired by the unique flower branch shape of“Thunberg’s meadowsweet”in nature,a nanofibrous composite membrane with hierarchical structure was constructed.Integrating sophisticated 0D@2D@1D hierarchical structures with multiple heterointerfaces can fully unleash the multifunctional application potential of composite membrane.The targeted induction method was used to precisely regulate the formation site and morphology of the metal–organic framework precursor,and intelligently integrate multiple heterostructures to enhance dielectric polarization,which improves the impedance matching and loss mechanisms of the electromagnetic wave absorbing materials.Due to the synergistic enhancement of electrospinning-derived carbon nanofiber“stems”,MOF-derived carbon nanosheet“petals”and transition metal selenide nano-particle“stamens”,the CoxSey/NiSe@CNSs@CNFs(CNCC)composite membrane obtains a minimum reflection loss value(RL_(min))of-68.40 dB at 2.6 mm and a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 8.88 GHz at a thin thickness of 2.0 mm with a filling amount of only 5 wt%.In addition,the multi-component and hierarchical heterostructure endow the fibrous membrane with excellent flexibility,water resistance,thermal management,and other multifunctional properties.This work provides unique perspectives for the precise design and rational application of multifunctional fabrics.Shuo Zhang Xuehua Liu Chenyu Jia Zhengshuo Sun Haowen Jiang Zirui Jia Guanglei Wu 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,11:3

7A Novel Bidirectional LSTM and Attention Mechanism Based Neural Network for Answer Selection in Community Question Answering显示文摘Deep learning models have been shown to have great advantages in answer selection tasks.The existing models,which employ encoder-decoder recurrent neural network(RNN),have been demonstrated to be effective.However,the traditional RNN-based models still suffer from limitations such as 1)high-dimensional data representation in natural language processing and 2)biased attentive weights for subsequent words in traditional time series models.In this study,a new answer selection model is proposed based on the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(Bi-LSTM)and attention mechanism.The proposed model is able to generate the more effective question-answer pair representation.Experiments on a question answering dataset that includes information from multiple fields show the great advantages of our proposed model.Specifically,we achieve a maximum improvement of 3.8%over the classical LSTM model in terms of mean average precision.Bo Zhang Haowen Wang Longquan Jiang Shuhan Yuan Meizi Li 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,3:1
8Association between Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Fatty Liver Disease and Cognitive Impairment显示文摘Background and Aims:Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a newly proposed term based on modified criteria.Although nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has been well-documented as a multisystem dis-ease,research on the correlation of MAFLD and extra-hepatic diseases is limited.This study aimed to clarify the association of MAFLD,as well as NAFLD status with cognitive function.Methods:A total of 5,662 participants 20-59 years of age who underwent cognitive tests and liver ultrasonography in the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were included in the analysis.Cognitive function was evalu-ated using three computer-administered tests,the serial dig-it learning test(SDLT),the simple reaction time test(SRTT)and the symbol digit substitution test(SDST).Results:Par-ticipants with MAFLD had significantly poorer performance on the SRTT[odds ratio(OR)1.47,95%confidence interval(CI):1.14-1.89)].MAFLD with moderate-severe liver stea-tosis was associated with higher risks of scoring low in the SDLT(OR 1.37,95%CI:1.04-1.82)and SRTT(OR 1.55,95%CI:1.19-2.02).NAFLD combined with metabolic dys-function,instead of NAFLD without metabolic disorders,was associated an increased risk of a low SRTT score(OR 1.44,95%CI:1.10-1.82).MAFLD patients had a high probability of fibrosis,prediabetes,and diabetes and were also signifi-cantly associated with increased risks based on the SDST or SRTT score.Conclusions:MAFLD was significantly associ-ated with increased risk of cognitive impairment,especially among MAFLD patients with a high degree of liver fibrosis,moderate-severe steatosis,or hyperglycemia.Qiang Yu Ruixin He Haowen Jiang Ji Wu Zhifeng Xi Kang He Yongbo Liu Tao Zhou Mingxuan Feng Ping Wan Hexin Yan Qiang Xia 2022Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,6:1
9Antenna geometry strategy with prior information for direction-finding MIMO radars显示文摘The antenna geometry strategy for direction finding(DF) with multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) radars is studied.One case, usually encountered is practical applications, is considered. For a directional antenna geometry with a prior direction,the trace-optimal(TO) criterion(minimizing the trace) on the average Cram ′er-Rao bound(CRB) matrix is employed. A qualitative explanation for antenna geometry is provided, which is a combinatorial optimization problem. 15Dissolved metal ion removal by online hollow fiber ultrafiltration for enhanced size characterization of metal-containing nanoparticles with single-particle ICP-MS显示文摘Single particle-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SP-ICP-MS) is a powerful tool for size-characterization of metal-containing nanoparticles (MCNs) at environmentally relevant concentrations,however,coexisting dissolved metal ions greatly interfere with the accuracy of particle size analysis.The purpose of this study is to develop an online technique that couples hollow fiber ultrafiltration (HFUF) with SP-ICP-MS to improve the accuracy and size detection limit of MCNs by removing metal ions from suspensions of MCNs.Through systematic optimization of conditions including the type and concentration of surfactant and complexing agent,carrier pH,and ion cleaning time,HFUF completely removes metal ions but retains the MCNs in suspension.The optimal conditions include using a mixture of 0.05 vol.%FL-70 and 0.5 mmol/L Na2S2O_(3)(pH=8.0) as the carrier and 4 min as the ion cleaning time.At these conditions,HFUF-SP-ICP-MS accurately determines the sizes of MCNs,and the results agree with the size distribution determined by transmission electron microscopy,even when metal ions also are present in the sample.In addition,reducing the ionic background through HFUF also lowers the particle size detection limit with SP-ICP-MS (e.g.,from 28.3 to 14.2 nm for gold nanoparticles).This size-based ion-removal principle provided by HFUF is suitable for both cations (e.g.,Ag+) and anions (e.g.,AuCl_(4)^(-)) and thus has good versatility compared to ion exchange purification and promising prospects for the removal of salts and macromolecules before single particle analysis.Haowen Jiang YingWang Zhiqiang Tan Ligang Hu Jianbo Shi Guangliang Liu Yongguang Yin Yong Cai Guibin Jiang 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,4:1

19Sodium butyrate activates HMGCS2 to promote ketone body production through SIRT5-mediated desuccinylation显示文摘Ketone bodies have beneficial metabolic activities,and the induction of plasma ketone bodies is a health promotion strategy.Dietary supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB)is an effective approach in the induction of plasma ketone bodies.However,the cellular and molecular mechanisms are unknown.In this study,SB was found to enhance the catalytic activity of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase 2(HMGCS2),a rate-limiting enzyme in ketogenesis,to promote ketone body production in hepatocytes.SB administrated by gavage or intraperitoneal injection significantly induced bloodβ-hydroxybutyrate(BHB)in mice.BHB production was induced in the primary hepatocytes by SB.Protein succinylation was altered by SB in the liver tissues with down-regulation in 58 proteins and up-regulation in 26 proteins in the proteomics analysis.However,the alteration was mostly observed in mitochondrial proteins with 41%down-and 65%up-regulation,respectively.Succinylation status of HMGCS2 protein was altered by a reduction at two sites(K221 and K358)without a change in the protein level.The SB effect was significantly reduced by a SIRT5 inhibitor and in Sirt5-KO mice.The data suggests that SB activated HMGCS2 through SIRT5-mediated desuccinylation for ketone body production by the liver.The effect was not associated with an elevation in NAD+/NADH ratio according to our metabolomics analysis.The data provide a novel molecular mechanism for SB activity in the induction of ketone body production.Yanhong Xu Xiaotong Ye Yang Zhou Xinyu Cao Shiqiao Peng Yue Peng Xiaoying Zhang Yili Sun Haowen Jiang Wenying Huang Hongkai Lian Jiajun Yang Jia Li Jianping Ye 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,2:0
