| 1 | Research on the dynamics of the South China Sea opening:Evidence from analogue modeling显示文摘Independent of Indochina extrusion, the South China Sea experienced a process from passive continental rifting to marginal sea drifting. According to the fault patterns in the Beibu Gulf basin and the Pearl River Mouth basin, the continental rifting and early spreading stage from 32 to 26 Ma were controlled by extensional stress field, which shifted clockwise from southeastward to south southeastward. From 24 Ma on, the sea spread in NW-SE direction and ceased spreading at around 15.5 Ma. Integrated geological information with the assumption that the South China Sea developed along a pre-Cenozoic weakness zone, we did analogue experiments on the South China Sea evolu- tion. Experiments revealed that the pre-existing weakness zone goes roughly along the uplift zone between the present Zhu-1 and Zhu-2 depression. The pre-existing weakness zone is composed of three segments trending NNE, roughly EW and NEE, respectively. The early opening of the South China Sea is accompanied with roughly 15° clockwise rotation, while the SE sub-sea basin opened with SE extension. Tinjar fault was the western boundary of the Nansha block (Dangerous Ground), while Lupar fault was the eastern boundary of the Indochina, NW-trending rift belt known as Zengmu basin developed between above two faults due to block divergent of Indochina from Nansha. In the experiment, transtensional flower structures along NW-trending faults are seen, and slight inversion occurs along some NE-dipping faults. The existence of rigid massifs changed the orientations of some faults and rift belt, and also led to deformation concentrate around the massifs. | 2 | Expression and alteration of insulin-like growth factor II-messenger RNA in hepatoma tissues and peripheral blood of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To investigate the clinical values of serum free insulin-like growth factor Ⅱ (IGF-Ⅱ) levels and IGF-Ⅱ mRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues and peripheral blood for diagnosis of HCC and monitoring of extrahepatic metastasis.METHODS: Total RNAs were extracted from HCC tissues or peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with HCC, liver diseases devoid of cancer, non-hepatic tumors,and healthy controls, respectively. IGF-Ⅱ cDNAs were synthesized through random primers and reversetranscriptase, amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and confirmed by DNA sequencing analysis. Serum free IGF-Ⅱ levels in patients with different liver diseases were analyzed by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS: The amplified fragments of IGF-Ⅱ mRNA by RT-PCR were identical to originally designed ones with a size of 170 bp and confirmed by sequencing analysis.The dilution experiments revealed that the lowest sensitivity of our system was 2 ng/L of total RNA. The positive frequencies of IGF-Ⅱ mRNA were 100% in HCC tissues,53.3% in para-cancerous tissues, and 0% in non-cancerous tissues, respectively. The serum free IGF-Ⅱ levels were significantly higher in HCC than those in chronic hepatitis or liver cirrhosis. The positive frequency of circulating IGF-Ⅱ mRNA was 34.2% in HCC, no amplified fragment was found in other liver diseases, extrahepatic tumors,and normal controls, respectively. The circulating IGF-Ⅱ mRNA correlated with the stage of HCC, and its positive rate was 100% in HCC with extrahepatic metastasis and 35.5% in HCC with AFP-negative. | 3 | Spatial-Temporal Pattern and Driving Forces of Land Use Changes in Xiamen显示文摘Using Landsat TM data of 1988, 1998 and 2001, the dynamic process of the spatial-temporal characteristics of land use changes during 13 years from 1988 to 2001 in the special economic zone of Xiamen, China was analyzed to improve understanding and to find the driving forces of land use change so that sustainable land utilization could be practiced. During the 13 years cropland decreased remarkably by nearly 11304.95 ha. The areas of rural-urban construction and water body increased by 10 152.24 ha and 848.94 ha, respectively. From 1988 to 2001, 52.5% of the lost cropland was converted into rural-urban industrial land. Rapid urbanization contributed to a great change in the rate of cropland land use during these years. Land-reclamation also contributed to a decrease in water body area as well as marine ecological and environmental destruction. In the study area 1) urbanization and industrialization, 2) infrastructure and agricultural intensification, 3) increased affluence of the farming community, and 4) policy factors have driven the land use changes. | 5 | Effect of early enteral combined with parenteral nutrition in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effect of early enteral nutrition(EEN)combined with parenteral nutritional support in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD).METHODS:From January 2006,all patients were given EEN combined with parenteral nutrition(PN)(EEN/PN group,n=107),while patients prior to this date were given total parenteral nutrition(TPN)(TPN group,n=67).Venous blood samples were obtained for a nutrition-associated assessment and liver function tests on the day before surgery and 6 d after surgery.The assessment of clinical outcome was based on postoperative complications.Follow-up for infectious and noninfectious complications was carried out for 30 d after hospital discharge.Readmission within 30 d afterdischarge was also recorded.RESULTS:Compared with the TPN group,a significant decrease in prealbumin(PAB)(P=0.023)was seen in the EEN/PN group.Total bilirubin(TB),direct bilirubin(DB)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)were significantly decreased on day 6 in the EEN/PN group(P=0.006,0.004 and 0.032,respectively).The rate of gradeⅠcomplications,gradeⅡcomplications and the length of postoperative hospital stay in the EEN/PN group were significantly decreased(P=0.036,0.028and 0.021,respectively),and no hospital mortality was observed in our study.Compared with the TPN group(58.2%),the rate of infectious complications in the EEN/PN group(39.3%)was significantly decreased(P=0.042).Eleven cases of delayed gastric emptying were noted in the TPN group,and 6 cases in the EEN/PN group.The rate of delayed gastric emptying and hyperglycemia was significantly reduced in the EEN/PN group(P=0.031 and P=0.040,respectively).CONCLUSION:Early enteral combined with PN can greatly improve liver function,reduce infectious complications and delayed gastric emptying,and shorten postoperative hospital stay in patients undergoing PD. | Xin-Hua Zhu Ya-Fu Wu Yu-Dong Qiu Chun-Ping Jiang Yi-Tao Ding | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,35: | 34 |

| 8 | Early J_2 basalts in SE China:Incipience of large-scale late Mesozoic magmatism显示文摘Magmatism in SE China was dormant during 204―180 Ma, but was reactivated in 180― 170 Ma (early J2), and then became more and more intensive towards the end of early Cretaceous. The small-scale early J2 magmatism is the incipience to long-term and large-scale magmatism in this region. A near east-west (EW) trend volcanic belt was distributed across south Hunan, south Jiangxi and southwest Fujian was formed during early J2 time. Along this belt from the inland toward the coast, the lithology of basalts changes from alkali into tholeiite, and the amount of erupted volcanic rocks and the proportions of rhyolites coexisting with the basalts increase. On the basis of geochemical char- acteristics of these basalts, we infer that the melting degree of source rocks and the extent of frac- tional crystallization and crustal contamination all increased whereas the depth of mantle source de- creased from the inland to the coast, which led to the variations of geological characteristics of the volcanic belt. In early J2, the western spreading Pacific plate began to subduct underneath SE China continental block, reactivating near EW trend deep fault that was originally formed during the Indos- inian event. | 9 | Quantitative analysis of hepatic hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and its abnormal gene expression during the formation of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND:Hepatic hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1) is activated in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).This study aimed to investigate the dynamic alterations of HIF-1αand its gene expression so as to explore the relationship between HIF-1αexpression and hepatocarcinogenesis at the early stage of HCC. METHODS:A hepatoma model was made with 2-fluorenyl- acetamide(2-FAA)in male Sprague-Dawley rats.Morphological changes of rat hepatocytes were assessed pathologically (HE staining).The dynamic expression of hepatic and circulating HIF-1αwas quantitatively analyzed by ELISA. The gene fragments of hepatic HIF-1αmRNA were amplified by RT-PCR and confirmed by sequencing.The cellular distribution of hepatic HIF-1αexpression was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS:Histological examination confirmed granulelike degeneration to atypical hyperplasia and HCC development in rat hepatocytes and progressive increases in the levels of hepatic and circulating HIF-1αand its gene expression during the course.The levels of HIF-1α expression in the liver and blood of rats with hepatoma were significantly higher than those in normal ratsand those with degeneration.Immunohistochemical analysis confirmed the positive expression and hepatocyte distribution of HIF-1αin the development of rat hepatoma. A positive relationship was found between HIF-1α expression in the liver and blood(P<0.01). | 13 | Constraints of (U-Th)/He ages on early Paleozoic tectonothermal evolution of the Tarim Basin,China显示文摘The thermal evolution of source rocks in the Paleozoic stratigraphic sequences has been an outstanding problem for petroleum exploration in the Tarim Basin, as the thermal history of the Paleozoic could not be reconstructed objectively due to the lack of effective thermal indicators in the early Paleozoic carbonate successions. The (U-Th)/He thermochronometry of apatite and zircon has recently been used as an effective tool to study the structural uplift and thermal history of sedimentary basins. The Paleozoic tectonothermal histories of two typical wells in the Tarim Basin were modeled using the thermal indicators of (U-Th)/He, apatite fission track (AFT), and vitrinite reflectance (Ro) data in this paper. The Paleozoic strata in the two wells were shallow due to persistent uplift and significant erosion during the Hercynian tectonic events (from Devonian to Triassic). Therefore, the paleothermal indicators in the Paleozoic strata may retain the original thermal evolution and can be used to re- construct the Paleozoic thermal history of the Tarim Basin. The apatite and zircon helium ages from core and cuttings samples were analyzed and the Paleozoic thermal histories of wells KQ1 and T1 were modeled by combining helium ages, AFT, and equivalence vitrinite reflectance (VRo) data. The modeling results show that the geothermal gradient evolution is different in the Kongquehe Slop and Bachu Uplift of Tarim Basin during the Paleozoic. The thermal gradient in Well T1 on the Bachu Up- lift was only 28–30°C/km in Cambrian, and it increased to 30–33°C/km in Ordovician and 31–34°C/km during the Silurian and Devonian. The thermal gradient of Ordovician in Well KQ1 on the Kongquehe Slope was 35°C/km and decreased to 32–35°C/km during the Silurian and Devonian. | 14 | 糖尿病视网膜病变患病率的流行病学调查:在中国6省13473名糖尿病患者中的横断面研究显示文摘目的本研究旨在探究中国糖尿病患者中糖尿病视网膜病变(DR)和视力威胁性糖尿病视网膜病变(STDR)的患病率和严重程度。研究设计、设置与参与者本研究为横断面流行病学调查,研究对象为中国内地地区的糖尿病患者(N=13473)。研究对象为被内科医师诊断为糖尿病,并转诊到筛查门诊的糖尿病患者(其中住院患者占1/3,城市居民占1/3,农村居民占1/3)。研究对象的每只眼睛应用彩色、免散瞳和非立体眼底照相机拍摄2张眼底照片,并根据英国DR分级指南进行分级。主要结果和测量指标DR与STDR的患病率和严重程度。结果在参与本研究的13473例糖尿病患者中,共发现4591例DR和1769例STDR患者,DR的总体患病率为34.08%[95%可信区间(凹)33.28%~34.88%],其中STDR的总体患病率为13.13%(95%C112.56%~13.70%)。在所有研究对象中,12780例参与了眼底照片分级(94.86%)。年龄大于65岁的研究对象患DR或STDR的可能性较低(P〈0.001)。性别对是否患病没有显著影响(P〉0.05)。STDR患者与非STDR患者相比,视力损伤更为严重(P〈0.001)。中国北方DR和STDR的患病率高于南方(P〈0.001)。DR的患病率与糖尿病患病时间f比值比(鲫)2.63;95%C12.42~2.86;P〈0.001]以及糖尿病发病年龄(OR 0.38;95%CI为0.35~0.41;P〈0.001)密切相关。结论DR和STDR在中国内地地区的患病率偏高,并且不同地区患病率存在差异。在DR中,非增殖性DR更常见,但STDR更需要及时的诊断和治疗,特别是在经济欠发达地区。本研究强调了中国内地地区DR筛查和治疗的重要性。 | Liu, Yan Song, Yifan Tao, Liyuan Qiu, Weiqiang Lv, Huibin Jiang, Xiaodan Zhang, Mingzhou Li, Xuemin | 2017 | 英国医学杂志中文版2017,20,11: | 23 |

GV1, GV2 and endosome releasing oligopeptide HA20 were conjugated with poly-L-lysine or protamine and the resulting conjugates could interact with DNA in a noncovalent bond to form a complex. Using pSV2-β-galactosidase as a reporter gene, it has been demonstrated that exogenous gene was transferred into bovine aortic arch-derived endothelial cells (ABAE) andhuman malignant melanoma cell lines (A375) in vitro. In vivo experiments, exogenous gene was transferred into tumor vascular endothelial cells and tumor cells of subcutaneously transplanted human colon cancer LOVO, human malignant melanoma A375 and human hepatoma graft in nude mice. This system could also target gene to intrahepatically transplanted human hepatoma injected via portal vein in nude mice. | 17 | BMAL1 knockout macaque monkeys display reduced sleep and psychiatric disorders显示文摘Circadian disruption is a risk factor for metabolic, psychiatric and age-related disorders, and non-human primate models could help to develop therapeutic treatments. Here, we report the generation of BMAL1 knockout cynomolgus monkeys for circadian-related disorders by CRISPR/Cas9 editing of monkey embryos. These monkeys showed higher nocturnal locomotion and reduced sleep, which was further exacerbated by a constant light regimen. Physiological circadian disruption was reflected by the markedly dampened and arrhythmic blood hormonal levels. Furthermore, BMAL1-deficient monkeys exhibited anxiety and depression, consistent with their stably elevated blood cortisol, and defective sensory processing in auditory oddball tests found in schizophrenia patients. Ablation of BMAL1 up-regulated transcriptional programs toward inflammatory and stress responses, with transcription networks associated with human sleep deprivation, major depressive disorders, and aging. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. | 20 | Effect of wide-narrow row arrangement in mechanical pot-seedling transplanting and plant density on yield formation and grain quality of japonica rice显示文摘Mechanical pot-seedling transplanting is an innovatively developed transplanting method that has the potential to replace mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting. However, the initial pot-seedling transplanting machine lacked optimized density spacing and limited yield potential for japonica rice. Therefore, ascertaining the optimized density by wide-narrow rows and the appropriate transplanting method for yield formation and grain quality of japonica rice is of great importance for high-quality rice production. Field experiments were conducted using two japonica rice cultivars Nanjing 9108 and Nanjing 5055 under three transplanting methods in 2016 and 2017: mechanical pot-seedling transplanting with wide-narrow row(K, average row spacing of 30 cm);equidistant row(D, 33 cm×12 cm);and mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting(T, 30 cm×12.4 cm). In addition, five different density treatments were set in K(K1–K5, from 18.62×10~4 to 28.49×10~4 hills ha^(–1)). The results showed that the highest yield was produced by a planting density of 26.88×104 hills ha^(–1) in mechanical pot-seedling transplanting with wide-narrow row with a greater number of total spikelets that resulted from significantly more panicles per area and slightly more grain number per panicle, as compared with equidistant row, and yield among density in wide-narrow row showed a parabolic trend. Compared with mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting, the treatment of the highest yield increased yield significantly, which was mainly attributed to the larger sink size with improved filled-grain percentage and grain weight, higher harvest index, and increased total dry matter accumulation, especially the larger amount accumulated from heading stage to maturity stage. With the density in wide-narrow row decreasing, processing quality, appearance quality, and nutrition quality were all improved, whereas amylose content and the taste value were decreased. Compared with mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting, mechanical pot-seedling transplanting improved processing quality and nutrition quality, but decreased amylose content and deteriorated appearance quality.
