| 1 | Effect of electroacupuncture on expression of Ang/Tie-2 mRNA and protein in rats with acute cerebral infarction显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To identify the intervention mechanism of the effect of electroacupuncture on the expression of Ang/Tie-2 m RNA and protein in rats with acute cerebral infarction induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO).METHODS: Altogether 120 Wistar rats were subjected to MCAO by inserting a nylon filament, andthen divided into 3 groups: control group, injured group and electroacupuncture group. The injured and electroacupuncture groups were further divided into the following 7 subgroups according to the time after MCAO: 3, 6, 12, 24 h, 3, 7 and 12 d, with 8 rats in each subgroup. The electroacupuncture group was given electroacupuncture treatment at Shuigou(GV 26) instantly after operation. | 2 | A mussel-inspired supramolecular hydrogel with robust tissue anchor for rapid hemostasis of arterial and visceral bleedings显示文摘In recent years,the developed hemostatic technologies are still difficult to be applied to the hemostasis of massive arterial and visceral hemorrhage,owing to their weak hemostatic function,inferior wet tissue adhesion,and low mechanical properties.Herein,a mussel-inspired supramolecular interaction-cross-linked hydrogel with robust mechanical property(308.47±29.20 kPa)and excellent hemostatic efficiency(96.5%±2.1%)was constructed as a hemostatic sealant.Typically,we combined chitosan(CS)with silk fibroin(SF)by cross-linking them through tannic acid(TA)to maintain the structural stability of the hydrogel,especially for wet tissue adhesion ability(shear adhesive strength=29.66±0.36 kPa).Compared with other materials reported previously,the obtained CS/TA/SF hydrogel yielded a lower amount of blood loss and shorter time to hemostasis in various arterial and visceral bleeding models,which could be ascribed to the synergistic effect of wound closure under wet state as well as intrinsic hemostatic activity of CS.As a superior hemostatic sealant,the unique hydrogel proposed in this work can be exploited to offer significant advantages in the acute wound and massive hemorrhage with the restrictive access of therapeutic moieties. | Ziwen Qiao Xueli Lv Shaohua He Shumeng Bai Xiaochen Liu Linxi Hou Jingjing He Dongmei Tong Renjie Ruan Jin Zhang Jianxun Ding Huanghao Yang | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,9: | 14 |

| 6 | Thermodynamic modeling and phase diagram prediction of salt lake brine systems.Ⅰ. | 7 | Clinical value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in improving diagnostic accuracy rate of transthoracic biopsy of anteriormedial mediastinal lesions显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) in transthoracic biopsy of anterior-medial mediastinal lesions.Methods: A total of 123 patients with anterior or middle mediastinum lesions required ultrasound guided transthoracic biopsy for pathological diagnosis. Among them, 72 patients received CEUS examinations before biopsy. After CEUS, 8 patients were excluded from biopsy and the rest 64 patients underwent biopsy(CEUS group). During the same period, 51 patients received biopsy without CEUS examination(US group). The ultrasonography characteristics, the number of biopsy puncture attempts, diagnostic accuracy rate and the incidence of complications were recorded and compared between the two groups.Results: A large portion of necrosis area or superficial large vessels was found in 8 patients, so the biopsy was cancelled. The internal necrosis was demonstrated in 43.8% of the lesions in CEUS group and in 11.8% of US group(P>0.001). For thymic carcinoma, CEUS increased the detection rate of internal necrosis and pericardial effusion than conventional ultrasound(62.5% vs. 18.8%, P=0.012; 56.3% vs. 12.5%, P=0.023). The average number of punctures in CEUS group and US group was 2.36±0.70 and 2.21±0.51 times, respectively(P>0.05). The diagnostic accuracy rate of biopsy in CEUS group(96.9%, 62/64) was significantly higher than that in US group(84.3%, 43/51)(P=0.022). | 9 | Similarities and Differences of Early Pulmonary CT Features of Pneumonia Caused by SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV: Comparison Based on a Systemic Review显示文摘Objective To compare the similarities and differences of early CT manifestations of three types of viral pneumonia induced by SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19),SARS-CoV(SARS)and MERS-CoV(MERS)using a systemic review.Methods Electronic database were searched to identify all original articles and case reports presenting chest CT features for adult patients with COVID-19,SARS and MERS pneumonia respectively.Quality of literature and completeness of presented data were evaluated by consensus reached by three radiologists.Vote-counting method was employed to include cases of each group.Data of patients’manifestations in early chest CT including lesion patterns,distribution of lesions and specific imaging signs for the three groups were extracted and recorded.Data were compared and analyzed using SPSS 22.0.Results A total of 24 studies were included,composing of 10 studies of COVID-19,5 studies of MERS and 9 studies of SARS.The included CT exams were 147,40,and 122 respectively.For the early CT features of the 3 pneumonias,the basic lesion pattern with respect to'mixed ground glass opacity(GGO)and consolidation,GGO mainly,or consolidation mainly'was similar among the 3 groups(χ^2=7.966,P>0.05).There were no significant differences on the lesion distribution(χ^2=13.053,P>0.05)and predominate involvement of the subpleural area of bilateral lower lobes(χ^2=4.809,P>0.05)among the 3 groups.The lesions appeared more focal in COVID-19 pneumonia at early phase(χ^2=23.509,P<0.05).The proportions of crazy-paving pattern(χ^2=23.037,P<0.001),organizing pneumonia pattern(P<0.05)and pleural effusions(P<0.001)in COVID-19 pneumonia were significantly lower than the other two.Although rarely shown in the early CT findings of all three viral pneumonias,the fibrotic changes were more frequent in SARS than COVID-19 and MERS(χ^2=6.275,P<0.05).For other imaging signs,only the MERS pneumonia demonstrated tree-in-buds,cavitation,and its incidence rate of interlobular or intralobular septal thickening presented significantly increased as compared to the other two pneumonia(χ^2=22.412,P<0.05).No pneumothorax,pneumomediastinum and lymphadenopathy was present for each group.Conclusions Imaging findings on early stage of these three coronavirus pneumonias showed similar basic lesion patterns,including GGO and consolidation,bilateral distribution,and predominant involvement of the subpleural area and the lower lobes.Early signs of COVID-19 pneumonia showed less severity of inflammation.Early fibrotic changes appeared in SARS only.MERS had more severe inflammatory changes including cavitation and pleural effusion.The differences may indicate the specific pathophysiological processes for each coronavirus pneumonia. | Xu Chen Gang Zhang Shuaiying Hao Lin Bai Jingjing Lu | 2020 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2020,35,3: | 2 |

| 16 | An Old Story Retold: Loss of G1 Control Defines A Distinct Genomic Subtype of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma显示文摘Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) has a high mortality rate. To determine the molecular basis of ESCC development, this study sought to identify characteristic genome-wide alterations in ESCC, including exonic mutations and structural alterations. The clinical implications of these genetic alterations were also analyzed. Exome sequencing and verification were performed for nine pairs of ESCC and the matched blood samples, followed by validation with additional samples using Sanger sequencing. Whole-genome SNP arrays were employed to detect copy number alteration(CNA) and loss of heterozygosity(LOH) in 55 cases, including the nine ESCC samples subjected to exome sequencing. A total of 108 non-synonymous somatic mutations(NSSMs) in102 genes were verified in nine patients. The chromatin modification process was found to be enriched in our gene ontology(GO) analysis. Tumor genomes with TP53 mutations were significantly more unstable than those without TP53 mutations. In terms of the landscape of genomic alterations, deletion of 9p21.3 covering CDKN2A/2B(30.9%), amplification of 11q13.3 covering CCND1(30.9%), and TP53 point mutation(50.9%) occurred in two-thirds of the cases. These results suggest that the deregulation of the G1 phase during the cell cycle is a key event in ESCC.Furthermore, six minimal common regions were found to be significantly altered in ESCC samples and three of them, 9p21.3, 7p11.2, and 3p12.1, were associated with lymph node metastasis. | 18 | Molecular characterization and functional analysis of daf-8 in the pinewood nematode,Bursaphelenchus xylophilus显示文摘Bursaphelenchus xylophilus,causal agent of pine wilt disease,causes extensive damage worldwide.Strate-gies are needed to inhibit population growth or block the spread of the invasive nematode to control pine wilt dis-ease.The gene daf-8 plays crucial roles in larval develop-ment and dauer formation in Caenorhabditis elegans,but little is known about its orthologue in B.xylophilus.In the present molecular characterization and functional analysis of daf-8 in B.xylophilus(Bx-daf-8),RT-qPCR showed that the expression of Bx-daf-8 gradually increased during the embryonic stage,peaked in the second-stage juvenile(J2),then dramatically dropped in the J3,and remained at that low level for the rest of its life.Bx-daf-8-transgenic C.elegans was employed to mimic the spatiotemporal expression of Bx-daf-8,which was expressed close to the pharynx during early embryogenesis and weakly throughout the whole body during late embryogenesis.It was observed in head neurons and tail ganglions throughout all postembryonic stages.B.xylophilus embryos were severely abnormal,and hatching rate decreased sharply after Bx-daf-8 knockdown.daf-16-1 and da-f16-2,downstream genes in the IIS pathway,also dropped sharply after Bx-daf-8 knockdown.We propose that TGFβmay crosstalk with the IIS pathway upstream of Bx-daf-16 and that daf-8 may act as a master regulator of daf-16 in B.xylophilus.However,knockdown of Bx-daf-8 did not lead to constitutive developmental arrest at the dauer larval stage,indicating that dauer entry in B.xylophilus might be controlled by several genes and is more complicated than in C.elegans.Bx-daf-8 alone did not control the dauer entry in B.xylophilus,but it was indispensable for embryogen-esis,providing a potential target for suppressing population growth of B.xylophilus. | Jinghan Wang Huan Hong Rong Xie Jingjing Ji Kai Guo Liqun Bai Jia Tang Hongshi Yu Jianren Ye Jiafu Hu | 2022 | Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,2: | 1 |
| 19 | KSN heterozygosity is associated with continuous flowering of Rosa rugosa Purple branch显示文摘Rose(Rosa spp.)plants flower via two contrasting methods:once flowering(OF)and continuous flowering(CF).Purple branch is a rare continuously flowering variety of Rosa rugosa that is extensively cultivated in China.However,the genetic basis of its CF behavior is unknown.We demonstrated that Purple branch is heterozygous for the TFL1 homolog KSN.One KSN allele with a 9kb Copia insertion was found to be identical to that from continuously flowering Rosa chinensis Old blush.The other allele was found to be a functional wild-type allele.The overall expression of KSN was closely linked to the floral transition,and it was significantly repressed in continuously flowering Purple branch compared with OF Plena.The promoter region of the normal KSN allele was hypermethylated,and histone methylation at H3H4,H3K9,and H3K27 of the KSN gene locus was modified in continuously flowering Purple branch.Silencing of the DNA methyltransferase genes MET1 and CMT3 and the histone methyltransferase gene SUVR5 in Purple branch led to enhanced KSN expression,but silencing of the histone demethylase gene JMJ12 suppressed KSN expression.Therefore,the CF habit of Purple branch may be due to reduced expression of KSN caused by the halved dose and may be associated with epigenetic modifications together with retrotransposon insertions along the chromosome.Our study revealed a novel mechanism underlying the CF behavior of rose plants. | Mengjuan Bai Jinyi Liu Chunguo Fan Yeqing Chen Hui Chen Jun Lu Jingjing Sun Guogui Ning Changquan Wang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 1 |
| 20 | Factors affecting the distribution of microplastics in soils of China显示文摘Microplastics(MPs)are found worldwide in high abundance,posing a potential threat to ecosystems.Despite the ubiquity of MPs in the environment,very little is known about the regional distribution of MPs and underlying factors affecting this distribution in the field,which likely include human activity,but also features of the environment itself.Here,out of a total of 1157 datapoints investigated in 53 Chinese studies,9.68%datapoints were removed as outliers in the heterogeneity analysis.This review revealed that the abundance of MPs was highly heterogeneous.In addition,microplastic(MP)distribution maps based on China demonstrated that the highest abundance of MPs tended to occur near large rivers and central land affected by the intersection of two monsoons.The model-fitting and previous studies showed that MP abundance in China was correlated with longitude,agricultural mulching film usage per capita,temperature,and precipitation.However,due to the heterogeneity of MPs and the low matching degree between the current environmental data and the sampling points,this pattern was not as evident as reported in any single study.Factors affecting the distribution of MPs can not be captured by linear relationships alone,and systematic selection of suitable environmental factors and further model optimization are needed to explore the cause of MP pollution in soil.Overall,this review revealed an uneven distribution of MPs and serves as a reference for model prediction to assess and control plastic pollution in natural soil environments. | Yin Liu Matthias CRillig Quan Liu Jingjing Huang Muhammad Amjad Khan Xiaohui Li Qin Liu Qingqing Wang Xuesong Su Linyi Lin Yang Bai Genmao Guo Yi Huang Yong Sik Ok Shan Hu Junfeng Wang Honggang Ni Qing Huang | 2023 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,9: | 1 |
