1Effects of yeast and yeast cell wall polysaccharides supplementation on beef cattle growth performance, rumen microbial populations and lipopolysaccharides production显示文摘This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of live yeast and yeast cell wall polysaccharides on growth performance,rumen function and plasma lipopolysaccharides(LPS) content and immunity parameters of beef cattle.Forty Qinchuan cattle were randomly assigned to one of four treatments with 10 replicates in each treatment.The dietary treatments were: control diet(CTR),CTR supplemented with 1 g live yeast(2×10^10 live cell g^-1 per cattle per day(YST1),CTR supplemented with 2 g live yeast per cattle per day(YST2) and CTR supplemented with 20 g of yeast cell wall polysaccharides(30.0%≤β-glucan≤35.0%,and 28.0%≤mannanoligosaccharide≤32.0%) per cattle per day(YCW).The average daily gain was higher(P=0.023) and feed conversion ratio was lower(P=0.042) for the YST2 than the CTR.The digestibility of neutral detergent fiber(P=0.039) and acid detergent fiber(P=0.016) were higher in yeast supplemented groups.The acetic acid:propionic acid of the YST2 was lower compared with the CTR(P=0.033).Plasma LPS(P=0.032),acute phase protein haptoglobin(P=0.033),plasma amyloid A(P=0.015) and histamine(P=0.038) were lower in the YST2 compared with the CTR.The copies of fibrolytic microbial populations such as Fibrobacter succinogenes S85,Ruminococcus albus 7 and Ruminococcus flavefaciens FD-1 of the YST2 were higher(P<0.001),while the copies of typical lactate producing bacteria Streptococcus bovis JB1 was lower(P<0.001) compared with the CTR.Little differences were observed between the CTR,YST1 and YCW in growth performance,ruminal fermentation characteristics,microbial populations,immunity indices and total tract nutrient digestibility.It is concluded that the YST2 could promote fibrolytic microbial populations,decrease starch-utilizing bacteria,reduce LPS production in the rumen and LPS absorption into plasma and decrease inflammatory parameters,which can lead to an improvement in growth performance in beef cattle.PENG Quan-hui CHENG Long KANG Kun Tian Gang Mohammad Al-Mamun XUE Bai WANG Li-zhi ZOU Hua-wei Mathew Gitau Gicheha WANG Zhi-sheng 2020Journal of Integrative Agriculture2020,19,3:9
2Application of video-assisted thoracic surgery in the standard operation for thoracic tumors显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the short-term outcomes of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for thoracic tumors. Methods: The data of 1,790 consecutive patients were retrospectively reviewed. These patients underwent VATS pulmonary resections, VATS esophagectomies, and VATS resections of mediastinal tumors or biopsies at the Cancer Institute & Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences between January 2009 and January 2012. Results: There were 33 patients converted to open thoracotomy (OT, 1.84%). The overall morbidity and mortality rate was 2.79% (50/1790) and 0.28% (5/1790), respectively. The overall hospitalization and chest tube duration were shorter in the VATS lobectomy group (n=949) than in the open thoracotomy (OT) lobectomy group (n=753). There were no significant differences in morbidity rate, mortality rate and operation time between the two groups. In the esophageal cancer patients, no significant difference was found in the number of nodal dissection, chest tube duration, morbidity rate, mortality rate, and hospital length of stay between the VATS esophagectomy group (n=81) and open esophagectomy group (n=81). However, the operation time was longer in the VATS esophagectomy group. In the thymoma patients, there was no significant difference in the chest tube duration, morbidity rate, mortality rate, and hospital length of stay between the VATS thymectomy group (n=41) and open thymectomy group (n=41). However, the operation time was longer in the VATS group. The median tumor size in the VATS thymectomy group was comparable with that in the OT group. Conclusions: In early-stage (I/II) non-small cell lung cancer patients who underwent lobectomies, VATS is comparable with the OT approach with similar short-term outcomes. In patients with resectable esophageal cancer, VATS esophagectomy is comparable with OT esophagectomy with similar morbidity and mortality. VATS thymectomy for Masaoka stage I and II thymoma is feasible and safe, and tumor size is not contraindicated. 5Active dry yeast supplementation improves the growth performance,rumen fermentation, and immune response of weaned beef calves显示文摘The objective of this experiment was to investigate the potential benefits of active dry yeast(ADY)on the growth performance,rumen fermentation,nutrient digestibility,and serum parameters of weaned beef calves.Thirty Simmental crossbred male calves(body weight=86.47±4.41 kg and 70±4 d of age)were randomly divided into 2 groups:control(CON)(fed basal ration)and ADY(fed basal ration and 5 g/d ADY per calf).The dietary concentrate-to-roughage ratio was 35:65.All the calves were regularly provided rations 3 times a day at 07:00,13:00,and 19:00 and had free access to wate r.The experiment lasted for 60 d.The average daily gain of ADY group was higher(P=0.007)than that of the CON group,and the ratio of feed intake to average daily gain in the ADY group was reduced(P=0.022)as compared to the CON group.The concentration of ruminal ammonia-N was higher(P=0.023)in the CON group than that in the ADY group,but an opposite trend of microbial protein was found between the 2 groups.Also,the ruminal concentrations of propionate and butyrate were higher(P<0.05)in the ADY group than those in the CON group.Calves fed ADY exhibited higher(P<0.05)crude protein and neutral detergent fiber digestibility.Supplementation of ADY increased(P<0.05)the contents of glucose,glutathione peroxidase,superoxide dismutase,immunoglobulin A,immunoglobulin M,and interleukin 10 in the serum of calves,but an opposite trend was observed in malondialdehyde,interleukin 1 beta,and tumor necrosis factor alpha contents between the 2 groups.In conclusion,dietary supplementation with ADY could improve the growth performance,rumen fermentation,nutrient digestibility,antioxidant ability,and immune response of weaned beef calves.Jian Ma Cheng Wang Zhisheng Wang Guang Cao Rui Hu Xueying Wang Huawei Zou Kun Kang Quanhui Peng Bai Xue Lizhi Wang Yueming Zhu Xiaopeng Zhu 2021Animal Nutrition2021,,4:7
6The RING E3 ligase CLG1 targets GS3 for degradation via the endosome pathway to determine grain size in rice显示文摘G-protein signaling and ubiquitin-dependent degradation are both involved in grain development in rice,but how these pathways are coordinated in regulating this process is unknown.Here,we show that Chang Li Geng 1(CLG1),which encodes an E3 ligase,regulates grain size by targeting the Gγprotein GS3,a negative regulator of grain length,for degradation.Overexpression of CLG1 led to increased grain length,while overexpression of mutated CLG1 with changes in three conserved amino acids decreased grain length.We found that CLG1 physically interacts with and ubiquitinats GS3which is subsequently degraded through the endosome degradation pathway,leading to increased grain size.Furthermore,we identified a critical SNP in the exon 3 of CLG1 that is significantly associated with grain size variation in a core collection of cultivated rice.This SNP results in an amino acid substitution from Arg to Ser at position 163 of CLG1 that enhances the E3 ligase activity of CLG1 and thus increases rice grain size.Both the expression level of CLG1 and the SNP CLG1163S may be useful variations for manipulating grain size in rice.Wensi Yang Kun Wu Bo Wang Huanhuan Liu Siyi Guo Xiaoyu Guo Wei Luo Shengyuan Sun Yidan Ouyang Xiangdong Fu Kang Chong Qifa Zhang Yunyuan Xu 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:6

9CMOS-compatible high-index doped silica waveguide with an embedded silicon-nanocrystal strip for all-optical analog-to-digital conversion显示文摘Passive all-optical signal processors that overcome the electronic bottleneck can potentially be the enabling components for the next-generation high-speed and lower power consumption systems. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a CMOS-compatible waveguide and its application to the all-optical analog-to-digital converter(ADC) under the nonlinear spectral splitting and filtering scheme. As the key component of the proposed ADC, a 50 cm long high-index doped silica glass spiral waveguide is composed of a thin silicon-nanocrystal(Si-nc) layer embedded in the core center for enhanced nonlinearity. The device simultaneously possesses low loss(0.16 dB/cm at 1550 nm), large nonlinearity(305 W^-1∕km at 1550 nm), and negligible nonlinear absorption.A 2-bit ADC basic unit is achieved when pumped by the proposed waveguide structure at the telecom band and without any additional amplification. Simulation results that are consistent with the experimental ones are also demonstrated, which further confirm the feasibility of the proposed scheme for larger quantization resolution.This demonstrated approach enables a fully monolithic solution for all-optical ADC in the future, which can digitize broadband optical signals directly at low power consumption. 10Treatment for gastric ‘indefinite for neoplasm/dysplasia' lesions based on predictive factors显示文摘BACKGROUND Gastric ‘indefinite for neoplasm/dysplasia'(IFND) is a borderline lesion that is difficult to diagnose as either regenerative or neoplastic. There is a need for guidance in the identification of a subset of patients, who have an IFND lesion with a higher risk of malignant potential, to enable risk stratification and optimal management.AIM To determine the clinical and pathologic factors for the accurate diagnosis of gastric IFND lesions.METHODS In total, 461 gastric lesions diagnosed via biopsy as IFND lesions were retrospectively evaluated. Endoscopic resection(n = 134), surgery(n = 22), and follow-up endoscopic biopsy(n = 305) were performed to confirm the diagnosis.The time interval from initial biopsy to cancer diagnosis was measured, and diagnostic delays were categorized as > 2 wk, > 2 mo, > 6 mo, and > 1 year. The IFND lesions presenting as regenerating atypia(60%) or atypical epithelia(40%)at initial biopsy were adenocarcinomas in 22.6%, adenomas in 8.9%, and gastritis in 68.5% of the cases.RESULTS Four clinical factors [age ≥ 60 years(2.445, 95%CI: 1.305-4.580, P = 0.005),endoscopic size ≥ 10 mm(3.519, 95%CI: 1.891-6.548, P < 0.001), single lesion(5.702, 95%CI: 2.212-14.696, P < 0.001), and spontaneous bleeding(4.056, 95%CI:1.792-9.180, P = 0.001)], and two pathologic factors [atypical epithelium(25.575,95%CI: 11.537-56.695, P < 0.001], and repeated IFND diagnosis [6.022, 95%CI:1.822-19.909, P = 0.003)] were independent risk factors for gastric cancer. With two or more clinical factors, the sensitivity and specificity for carcinoma were91.3% and 54.9%, respectively. Ten undifferentiated carcinomas were initially diagnosed as IFND. In the subgroup analysis, fold change(5.594, 95%CI: 1.458-21.462, P = 0.012) predicted undifferentiated or invasive carcinoma in the submucosal layers or deeper. Diagnostic delays shorter than 1 year were not associated with worse prognoses. 11Transcriptome analysis of salt-responsive genes and SSR marker exploration in Carex rigescens using RNA-seq显示文摘Carex rigescens(Franch.) V.Krecz is a wild turfgrass perennial species in the Carex genus that is widely distributed in salinised areas of northern China.To investigate genome-wide salt-response gene networks in C.rigescens,transcriptome analysis using high-throughput RNA sequencing on C.rigescens exposed to a 0.4% salt treatment(Cr_Salt) was compared to a non-salt control(Cr_Ctrl).In total,57 742 546 and 47 063 488 clean reads were obtained from the Cr_Ctrl and Cr_Salt treatments,respectively.Additionally,21 954 unigenes were found and annotated using multiple databases.Among these unigenes,34 were found to respond to salt stress at a statistically significant level with 6 genes up-regulated and 28 downregulated.Specifically,genes encoding an EF-hand domain,ZFP and AP2 were responsive to salt stress,highlighting their roles in future research regarding salt tolerance in C.rigescens and other plants.According to our quantitative RT-PCR results,the expression pattern of all detected differentially expressed genes were consistent with the RNA-seq results.Furthermore,we identified 11 643 simple sequence repeats(SSRs) from the unigenes.A total of 144 amplified successfully in the C.rigescens cultivar Lüping 1,and 69 of them reflected polymorphisms between the two genotypes tested.This is the first genome-wide transcriptome study of C.rigescens in both salt-responsive gene investigation and SSR marker exploration.Our results provide further insights into genome annotation,novel gene discovery,molecular breeding and comparative genomics in C.rigescens and related grass species.LI Ming-na LONG Rui-cai FENG Zi-rong LIU Feng-qi SUN Yan ZHANG Kun KANG Jun-mei WANG Zhen CAO Shi-hao 2018Journal of Integrative Agriculture2018,17,1:4
12Improvement on a Biometric Based User Authentication Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Smart Cards显示文摘With the development of the Internet of Things(IoT)technique,sensitive information collected by sensors may be leaked.In recent years,many authentication schemes have been proposed.Banerjee et al proposed a biometric based user authentication scheme in wireless sensor networks using smart cards in 2019.But we found that Banerjee et al's authentication scheme is vulnerable to impersonation attacks.In order to overcome the weaknesses of Banerjee et al's scheme,we propose a new authentication scheme.In our proposed scheme,we only use the exclusive-or operation and one-way Hash function for the efficiency,which can reduce the computation burden for the IoT devices.In the authentication and session key agreement phase,the secret registration parameter is not used for the authentication,and the session key is given for the all entities.In the Devol-Yao threat model,the security analysis demonstrates that our proposed authentication scheme can resist well-known attacks.DU Jianqi KANG Baoyuan HAN Yanbao QIAN Kun 2020Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2020,25,2:3

14Mid-infrared photon counting and resolving via efficient frequency upconversion显示文摘Optical detectors with single-photon sensitivity and large dynamic range would facilitate a variety of applications.Specifically,the capability of extending operation wavelengths into the mid-infrared region is highly attractive.Here we implement a mid-infrared frequency upconversion detector for counting and resolving photons at 3μm.Thanks to the spectrotemporal engineering of the involved optical fields,the mid-infrared photons could be spectrally translated into the visible band with a conversion efficiency of 80%.In combination with a silicon avalanche photodiode,we obtained unprecedented performance with a high overall detection efficiency of 37%and a low noise equivalent power of 1.8×10^(-17) W∕Hz1∕2.Furthermore,photon-number-resolving detection at mid-infrared wavelengths was demonstrated,for the first time to our knowledge,with a multipixel photon counter.The implemented upconversion detector exhibited a maximal resolving photon number up to 9 with a noise probability per pulse of 0.14%at the peak detection efficiency.The achieved photon counting and resolving performance might open up new possibilities in trace molecule spectroscopy,sensitive biochemical sensing,and free-space communications,among others.KUN HUANG YINQI WANG JIANAN FANG WEIYAN KANG YING SUN YAN LIANG QIANG HAO MING YAN HEPING ZENG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,2:2

16Effect of Ti/V ratio on thermodynamics and kinetics of MC in γ/α matrices of Ti-V microalloyed steels显示文摘Through the solubility product theory of the ternary secondary phase,classical nucleation theory,and Ostwald ripening theory,a model was established to describe the thermodynamics and kinetics of(Ti,V)C precipitates in austenite/ferrite(y/α)matrices.The model was used to calculate the volume fraction,precipitation-temperature-time(PTT)curve,and nucleation rate-temperature(NrT)curve of MC(M=Ti,V)precipitates in γ/α matrices in Ti-V microalloyed steels with various Ti/V ratios,which is verified by hardness tester,transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.The calculations indicate that,by decreasing Ti/V ratio from Ti4V0 steel to Ti0V4 steel,the complete-dissolution temperature decreases monotonically from 1226 to 830℃,and the equilibrium volume fraction of MC pre-cipitated from austenite decreases from 0.333%to 0.091%at 900℃.Moreover,the maximum nucleation temperature of MC precipitated from α matrix decreases from 748 to 605℃and the fastest precipitation temperature decreases from 844 to 675℃as Ti/V ratio decreases.PTT and NrT diagrams of MC precipitated from α matrices in different Ti-V microalloyed steels all exhibit C-shaped and inverse C-shaped curves.In addition,both theoretical calculation and experimental results show that when tempered at 600℃for 100 h,Ti2V2 steel shows the largest hardness value of 312 HV among the three steels tested because it has a larger volume fraction(0.364%),a larger precipitate density(1689 μm-2),and the smallest average size(8.4 nm)of(Ti,V)C precipitates.The theoretical calculations are consistent with experimental results,which indicates that the thermodynamics and kinetics model for(Ti,V)C precipitates is reliable and accurate.Ke Zhang Xin-jun Sun Zhao-dong Li Kun Xu Tao Jia Zheng-hai Zhu Xiao-yu Ye Jun-yu Kang Qi-long Yong 2021Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2021,28,8:2
17Prediction of properties distribution of 7B50 alloy thick plates after quenching and aging by quench factor analysis method显示文摘In the present work,continuous cooling curves were accurately measured by the modified Jominy specimen of 7B50 alloy during water-spray quenching tests.Besides,the time-temperature-properties(TTP) curves of this alloy were obtained during isothermal treatments.Based on the accurate cooling curves and TTP curves,the hardness distribution along the thickness direction of 7B50 alloy thick plates was predicted by quench factor analysis method.It is found that the quench sensitive temperature range of 7B50 alloy is 240-410℃,the nose temperature is 335℃,and the incubation period at the nose temperature is about 0.87 s.When 7B50 alloy was isothermal treated at 180-400℃ after solid solution treatment(470℃ for 1 h followed by 483℃ for 2 h),the exponent(n) in the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation is close to 1 until transformed fraction of new precipitates is up to 60%,indicating that new precipitates first grow into rodlike shape and then coarsen or thicken.When the distance is less than 65 mm from the spray quenching surface of the modified Jominy specimen,the deviation between the predicted and measured hardness is less than 2.7%,confirming the quench factor analysis method as the feasible way to predict the hardness distribution along the thickness direction of 7B50 alloy thick plates.When the distance from the spray quenching surface is 25 mm,the average cooling rate in quench sensitive temperature range is 9.93 ℃·s^-1,while the quench factor(τ) is 9.89 and the corresponding predicted hardness is HV 185.1 equivalent to 97.3% of the maximum measured hardness of 7B50 alloy in T6 temper.Lei Kang Yi-Ran Zhou Gang Zhao Kun Liu Ni Tian 2019Rare Metals2019,38,11:2
