1Study on Biogenic Amines in Various Dry Salted Fish Consumed in China显示文摘This study was carried out to investigate the biogenic amines(BAs), physicochemical property and microorganisms in dry salted fish, a traditional aquatic food consumed in China. Forty three samples of dry salted fish were gathered from retail and wholesale markets and manufacturers, which had been produced in various regions in China. Cadaverine(CAD) and putrescine(PUT) were quantitatively the most common biogenic amines. About 14% of the samples exceeded the histamine content standards established by the FDA and/or EU. The highest histamine content was found in Silver pomfret(Pampus argenteus)(347.79 mg kg^(-1)). Five of forty three samples exceeded the acceptable content of TYR(100 mg kg^(-1)), and 23.26% of dried-salted fish contained high contents of biogenic amines(above 600 mg kg^(-1)). In addition, species, regions, pickling processes and drying methods made the physicochemical property, microorganisms and biogenic amines in dry salted fish to be different to some extents. The total plate count(TPC) was much higher than that of total halophilic bacteria in all samples. The biogenic amines, physicochemical property and microbiological counts exhibited large variations among samples. Furthermore, no significant correlation between biogenic amines and physicochemical property and TPC was observed. 5Variations in growth traits and wood physicochemical properties among Pinus koraiensis families in Northeast China显示文摘This study aimed to explore and improve the different economic values of Pinus koraiensis(Siebold and Zucc.)by examining the variations in 6 growth traits and 9 physicochemical wood properties among 53 P.koraiensis half-sib families.Growth traits assessed included height,diameter at breast height,volume,degree of stem straight-ness,stem form,and branch number per node,while wood properties assessed included density,fiber length and width,fiber length to width ratio,and cellulose,hemicel-lulose,holocellulose,lignin,and ash contents.Except for degree of stem straightness and branch number per node,all other traits exhibited highly significant variations(P<0.01)among families.The coefficients of variation ranged from 5.3(stem form)to 66.7%(ash content),whereas,the herit-ability ranged from 0.136(degree of stem straightness)to 0.962(ash content).Significant correlations were observed among growth traits and wood physicochemical properties.Principal component analysis identified four distinct groups representing growth traits,wood chemical and physical properties,and stem form traits.Multi-trait comprehensive evaluation identified three groups of elite families based on breeding objectives,including rapid growth,improved timber production for building and furniture materials,and pulpwood production.These specific families should be used to establish new plantations.Qinhui Zhang Xiaona Pei Xianbo Lu Chunli Zhao Guangzhi Dong Wanling Shi Liankui Wang Yanlong Li Xiyang Zhao Mulualem Tigabu 2022Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,5:1
6Inhibition of aberrant Hif1αactivation delays intervertebral disc degeneration in adult mice显示文摘The intervertebral disc(IVD) is the largest avascular tissue. Hypoxia-inducible factors(HIFs) play essential roles in regulating cellular adaptation in the IVD under physiological conditions. Disc degeneration disease(DDD) is one of the leading causes of disability, and current therapies are ineffective. This study sought to explore the role of HIFs in DDD pathogenesis in mice. The findings of this study showed that among HIF family members, Hif1α was significantly upregulated in cartilaginous endplate(EP) and annulus fibrosus(AF) tissues from human DDD patients and two mouse models of DDD compared with controls. Conditional deletion of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Vhl in EP and AF tissues of adult mice resulted in upregulated Hif1α expression and age-dependent IVD degeneration. Aberrant Hif1α activation enhanced glycolytic metabolism and suppressed mitochondrial function. On the other hand, genetic ablation of the Hif1α gene delayed DDD pathogenesis in Vhl-deficient mice. Administration of 2-methoxyestradiol(2ME2), a selective Hif1α inhibitor, attenuated experimental IVD degeneration in mice. 13Solid-state NMR studies of sulfonated SBA-15 and the synergistic catalysis of fructose into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural with dimethyl sulfoxide显示文摘Sulfonic acid functionalized mesoporous SBA-15 was prepared using the grafting method.The structure and acid properties were comprehensively characterized using multi-nuclear and quantitative probe molecule solid-state NMR(SSNMR),together with powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),N2 adsorption-desorption techniques.Its catalytic performance in the conversion of fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)in dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)was studied.Catalyst dosage,reaction time,reaction temperature and solvent effect have been investigated.A high yield of HMF up to 93%was obtained at a relatively low temperature of 373 K for 180 min.The Brønsted acid of SBA-15_SO3H together with the solvent DMSO was found to synergistically catalyze the reaction.The catalyst preserved most of its activity after five times reuse and the catalytic activity can be recovered by H2O2 process.Xin Li Wanling Shen Han Sun 2022Magnetic Resonance Letters2022,2,1:1
14Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure Precipitated by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infection in a Patient with Hepatitis B Virus-Related Cirrhosis: A Case Report显示文摘We present a case of acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)in a patient with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related decompensated cirrhosis and coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).A 58-year-old woman with HBV-related and decompensated cirrhosis without any anti-viral treatment previously was admitted to the hospital due to a confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection.On admission,she was in stable condition.Thoracic computed tomography(CT)and laboratory findings showed no significant abnormalities.Entecavir was initiated promptly for HBV,while antiviral therapy and supportive treatment were initiated for COVID-19.Her lung infection exacerbated after 10days of recurrent fever despite treatments,and there were signs of HBV reactivation.ACLF and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome developed rapidly from day 10 to day 19.The patient’s clinical deterioration was also consistent with pneumonia progression and elevated interleukin 6 levels.SARS-CoV-2 likely precipitated ACLF in cirrhotic patients,either by inducing HBV flare or serving as an acute insult directly.This study discussed the underlying mechanisms of this process and management details.Monitoring HBV status is necessary,and inflammatory parameters might be valuable.HBV suppression should be initiated early,and variceal hemorrhage primary prevention might be beneficial in COVID-19 patients with cirrhosis.Wanling Chen Qiran Zhang Shijun Li Ruiting Liang Haiqun Liang Yiqi Yu Chao Qiu Jiannan Lv Wenhong Zhang 2021Infectious Diseases & Immunity2021,1,3:1
15Retrieving chlorophyll content and equivalent water thickness of Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys pubescens) forests under Pantana phyllostachysae Chao-induced stress from Sentinel-2A/B images in a multiple LUTs-based PROSAIL framework显示文摘Biochemical components of Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys pubescens)are critical to physiological and ecological processes and play an important role in the material and energy cycles of the ecosystem.The coupled PROSPECT with SAIL(PROSAIL)radiative transfer model is widely used for vegetation biochemical component content inversion.However,the presence of leaf-eating pests,such as Pantana phyllostachysae Chao(PPC),weakens the performance of the model for estimating biochemical components of Moso bamboo and thus must be considered.Therefore,this study considered pest-induced stress signals associated with Sentinel-2A/B images and field data and established multiple sets of biochemical canopy reflectance look-up tables(LUTs)based on the PROSAIL framework by setting different parameter ranges according to infestation levels.Quantitative inversions of leaf area index(LAI),leaf chlorophyll content(LCC),and leaf equivalent water thickness(LEWT)were derived.The scale conversions from LCC to canopy chlorophyll content(CCC)and LEWT to canopy equivalent water thickness(CEWT)were calculated.The results showed that LAI,CCC,and CEWT were inversely related with PPC-induced stress.When applying multiple LUTs,the p-values were<0.01;the R2 values for LAI,CCC,and CEWT were 0.71,0.68,and 0.65 with root mean square error(RMSE)(normalized RMSE,NRMSE)values of 0.38(0.16),17.56μg cm-2(0.20),and 0.02 cm(0.51),respectively.Compared to the values obtained for the traditional PROSAIL model,for October,R2 values increased by 0.05 and 0.10 and NRMSE decreased by 0.09 and 0.02 for CCC and CEWT,respectively and RMSE decreased by 0.35μg cm-2 for CCC.The feasibility of the inverse strategy for integrating pest-induced stress factors into the PROSAIL model,while establishing multiple LUTs under different pest-induced damage levels,was successfully demonstrated and can potentially enhance future vegetation parameter inversion and monitoring of bamboo forest health and ecosystems.Zhanghua Xu Anqi He Yiwei Zhang Zhenbang Hao Yifan Li Songyang Xiang Bin Li Lingyan Chen Hui Yu Wanling Shen Xuying Huang Xiaoyu Guo Zenglu Li 2023Forest Ecosystems2023,10,2:0

17Mechanical stretching boosts expansion and regeneration of intestinal organoids through fueling stem cell self-renewal显示文摘Intestinal organoids,derived from intestinal stem cell self-organization,recapitulate the tissue structures and behav-iors of the intestinal epithelium,which hold great potential for the study of developmental biology,disease modeling,and regenerative medicine.The intestinal epithelium is exposed to dynamic mechanical forces which exert profound effects on gut development.However,the conventional intestinal organoid culture system neglects the key role of mechanical microenvironments but relies solely on biological factors.Here,we show that adding cyclic stretch to intestinal organoid cultures remarkably up-regulates the signature gene expression and proliferation of intestinal stem cells.Furthermore,mechanical stretching stimulates the expansion of SOX9+progenitors by activating the Wnt/β-Catenin signaling.These data demonstrate that the incorporation of mechanical stretch boosts the stemness of intestinal stem cells,thus benefiting organoid growth.Our findings have provided a way to optimize an organoid generation system through understanding cross-talk between biological and mechanical factors,paving the way for the application of mechanical forces in organoid-based models.Fanlu Meng Congcong Shen Li Yang Chao Ni Jianyong Huang Kaijun Lin Zanxia Cao Shicai Xu Wanling Cui Xiaoxin Wang Bailing Zhou Chunyang Xiong Jihua Wang Bing Zhao 2022Cell Regeneration2022,11,1:0
18How does Mei-yu precipitation respond to climate change?显示文摘Mei-yu is an important weather phenomenon in the middle-lower Yangtze River valley(YRV)region.This study investigates the changes in the characteristics of Mei-yu under global warming and the potential reasons based on observation and reanalysis data during 1961-2022.Notable increasing long-term trends are detected in the number of days without rainfall(NDWOR),the intensity of rainfall events,and the frequency and intensity of extreme precipitation events(EPEs)in the YRV region during the Mei-yu period(15 June-10 July)over past decades.The increasing trend in NDWOR is attributed to decreased relative humidity over land surface and a longer time for the air to be replenished with moisture after rainfall events in a warming climate.The increasing trends in the intensity of rainfall events and frequency/intensity of EPEs are attributed to the strengthened transient water vapor convergence and convection in the atmosphere under global warming.Furthermore,the response of Mei-yu to 2℃ of global warming with respect to the pre-industrial climate is analysed using CMIP6 models.The results suggest that the NDWOR,intensity of rainfall events and frequency of EPEs will increase in the YRV region during the Mei-yu period under the 2℃ warming scenario,which implies a more challenging climate risk management in the future.Overall,the intensity of rainfall events during the Mei-yu period has the most significant response to climate change in observations and projections.The model results have a relatively large uncertainty.Bo Sun Rufan Xue Wanling Li Siyu Zhou Huixin Li Botao Zhou Huijun Wang 2023National Science Review2023,10,12:0

20Overcoming Debye length limitations:Three-dimensional wrinkled graphene field-effect transistor for ultra-sensitive adenosine triphosphate detection显示文摘Adenosine triphosphate(ATP)is closely related to the pathogenesis of certain diseases,so the detection of trace ATP is of great significance to disease diagnosis and drug development.Graphene field-effect transistors(GFETs)have been proven to be a promising platform for the rapid and accurate detection of small molecules,while the Debye shielding limits the sensitive detection in real samples.Here,a three-dimensional wrinkled graphene field-effect transistor(3D WG-FET)biosensor for ultra-sensitive detection of ATP is demonstrated.The lowest detection limit of 3D WG-FET for analyzing ATP is down to 3.01 aM,which is much lower than the reported results.In addition,the 3D WG-FET biosensor shows a good linear electrical response to ATP concentrations in a broad range of detection from 10 aM to 10 pM.Meanwhile,we achieved ultra-sensitive(LOD:10 aM)and quantitative(range from 10 aM to 100 fM)measurements of ATP in human serum.The 3D WG-FET also exhibits high specificity.This work may provide a novel approach to improve the sensitivity for the detection of ATP in complex biological matrix,showing a broad application value for early clinical diagnosis and food health monitoring.Yue Ding Chonghui Li Meng Tian Jihua Wang Zhenxing Wang Xiaohui Lin Guofeng Liu Wanling Cui Xuefan Qi Siyu Li Weiwei Yue Shicai Xu 2023Frontiers of physics2023,18,5:0
